Geologists are scientists who study the Earth: its history, nature, materials and processes. There are many types of geologists: environmental geologists, who study human impact on the Earth system; and economic geologists, who explore for and develop Earth's resources, are just two examples.

There are also engineering geologists, geomorphologists, geophysicists, mineralologists, geochemists, glacial geologists, structural geologists, petroleum geologists, petrologists, sedimentologists, hydrogeologists and more. A career in geology offers broad scope to anyone interested in the Earth and how it works.

Celebrities / Environmental Pollution: Love Canal Toxic Waste Incident by MikePhilly(m): 8:33pm On Nov 26, 2021
www.eiawithbenard.com

Love Canal is an aborted canal project branching off of the Niagara River about four miles south of Niagara Falls.  It is also the name of a fifteen-acre, working-class neighborhood of around 800 single-family homes built directly adjacent to the canal.  From 1942 to 1953, the Hooker Chemical Company, with government sanction, began using the partially dug canal as a chemical waste dump.

At the end of this period, the contents of the canal consisted of around 21,000 tons of toxic chemicals, including at least twelve that are known carcinogens (halogenated organics, chlorobenzenes, and dioxin among them).  Hooker capped the 16-acre hazardous waste landfill in clay and sold the land to the Niagara Falls School Board, attempting to absolve itself of any future liability by including a warning in the property deed.

Public awareness of the disaster unfolded in the late 1970s when investigative newspaper coverage and grassroots door-to-door health surveys began to reveal a series of inexplicable illnesses—epilepsy, asthma, migraines, and nephrosis—and abnormally high rates of birth defects and miscarriages in the Love Canal neighborhood.  As it turns out, consecutive wet winters in the late 1970s raised the water table and caused the chemicals to leach (via underground swales and a sewer system that drained into nearby creeks) into the basements and yards of neighborhood residents, as well as into the playground of the elementary school built directly over the canal.

Celebrities / Trick For Making Your Coffee Less Bitter- EIA With Benard by MikePhilly(m): 1:39pm On Nov 25, 2021
Not many people love to drink their coffee black, because the bitterness is way too much for their taste buds to handle. Things are changing though, because of a trick that uses a grain of salt to take any cup of coffee from bitter to delightful.

While adding a little salt to your food instantly makes it taste better, the trick works with coffee as well. Aside from blocking bitter flavors, it also amplifies the flavor of your coffee in general. Food scientists and chefs around the world know that salt is a key ingredient in creating delicious foods. The perfect level of salt can elevate any food from just okay to something truly delicious. It also has a powerful effect to enhance good flavors and reduce the bad ones. It's interesting that this can carry over to coffee."

According to food scientist, Bryson Jackson, adding a grain or two of salt into bitter coffee suppresses the receptors on your tongue that would usually alert your brain to its bitter taste. "Our ability to taste has an association with our survival as a species: bitter signals that something is likely poisonous and we are averse to too much of it," she says. "The thought is that salt binds to the taste receptors and blocks the bitter compounds from binding to the bitter taste receptors." Suppressing that signal also allows you to better taste and enjoy the other flavors associated with coffee.

Celebrities / Earth: What Is The Atmosphere by MikePhilly(m): 12:12pm On Nov 25, 2021
God be praised

www.eiawithbenard.com

As well known and traversed as our planet Earth is, there are still new things being discovered every day. The Earth is constantly changing, shifting and exposing new secrets for humans to marvel at. It took many years and many great minds to solve the problem of getting through Earth’s atmosphere into the wide expanse of space beyond.

The atmosphere constitutes the boundary between Earth and outer space, basically everything above the Earth’s surface, reaching straight upwards roughly 10,000 km (6,214 miles) into space. Everything beyond this distance is considered to be outer space.

Most of earth’s atmosphere is not oxygen and a major concentration of the atmosphere's mass is located 8-15 km above Earth’s surface.

The 5 definitive layers of atmosphere that coat our planet from the ground level include the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere and exosphere.

Troposphere
The troposphere is closest to the ground surface, which supports life, and is, in fact, the thinnest at only about 10 miles high.

This layer includes most of the cloud layers along with the majority of water particles and dust.

Stratosphere
The stratosphere is the second layer of the atmosphere just above the troposphere. It ranges from approximately 15 km above the earth’s surface to 50 km (30 miles) above the Earth.
The stratosphere is most well known for having a large amount of ozone gas, an oxygen compound. Because of this, this region is often referred to as the "ozone layer."

NB: The Ozone Layer is often referenced in relation to climate change, or referred to as having a "hole" in it. This is important because the ozone forms a protective barrier between the sun's harsh rays and life on earth. Without this barrier, temperatures would rise, and sun exposure would increase, making the earth uninhabitable. This is why the weakening of the ozone layer has had such alarming effects on the climate of Earth

Mesosphere
The next layer in the Earth’s atmosphere is known as the mesosphere. The mesosphere reaches 85 km (53 miles) out from the surface of the earth. It is very cold, with the coldest temperatures found at the top of this layer where it can reach -90 °C (-130 °F). The atmosphere is much thinner here than it is closer to the Earth, but there is still enough density to cause space debris to burn when it enters this layer

Thermosphere
Above the mesopause, ending some 600 km (372 miles) from the surface of the Earth is the thermosphere. As the prefix Thermo, suggests, this layer has much higher temperatures. Because this layer is much closer to the sun, it can reach temperatures up to 2,000 °C (3,600 °F).

Exosphere
The final layer is where the Earth’s atmosphere meets outer space. This region is known as the exosphere, as it circles all the other layers. This layer is almost as thin as space itself, as the gravitational pull of Earth is too weak to hold many molecules. This means that the layer is extremely thin, and blends into outer space as molecules float free from Earth.

Politics / On This Day: Lagos Canceled Monthly Environmental Sanitation by MikePhilly(m): 12:15pm On Nov 24, 2021
www.eiawithbenard.com

The Lagos State Government on Wednesday, November 24, 2016, issued a statement, terminating the monthly environmental sanitation exercise which hitherto held for three hours on the last Saturday of every month.

The Government noted that considering the present economic situation in the country, it was no longer appropriate to restrict movement of people for three hours in a mega city like Lagos at a time they should be pursuing commercial and entrepreneurial activities.

The Statement said: “After a careful consideration, the State Executive Council has therefore resolved that the present economic climate can no longer support the continued lock down of a mega city like Lagos, when the citizens should be free to engage in commercial and entrepreneurial activities that can promote economic growth and prosperity.

“Furthermore, Government will also accelerate the introduction of fresh reforms through the passage of the new harmonized environmental laws that will drive meaningful changes in areas of harmonized billing, waste management, modern Landfill sites, noise pollution, introduction of an Environmental Trust Fund and an Environmental Advisory Council."

“The Government wishes to reiterate its strong commitment to a clean and secure environment for the benefit of its citizens, and will continue to provide the necessary leadership to meet the environmental challenges of a mega city like Lagos. Lagosians and visitors alike are therefore urged to embrace these changes and imbibe a culture of voluntarily maintaining and preserving their environment to create a beautiful and healthy city that we all can be proud of.”

Celebrities / Memorable Highlights From SHABACH'21- Photos by MikePhilly(m): 9:35am On Nov 24, 2021
God be praised, Jesus is Lord
As the December 7th- 12 date for Shiloh 2021 at Canaanland steadily approaches, members of the Youth Alive Choir and talented worshippers from different Areas recently convened at the Area 59 Facility for a night of loud praise to honor and glorify Almighty God, in unison of spirit.

SHABACH
Performing in groups and individually on stage at the Area 59 facility last Friday, November 19, where the whole congregation worshipped, sang along and danced to the glory of God, until the night ended, during the annual SHABACH night.

Area 59- 1/3 Franklin Adejuwon, Olusesi-Iju Ishaga
This local arm of Living Faith Church, under the spiritual authority of Bishop David Oyedepo, which is situated at 1/3 Franklin Adejuwon close, Sesi Busstop, lifted their voices in high praise at SHABACH 2021, where participants from other areas, zones and invitees said they enjoyed a night of fun, entertainment and an opportunity to worship God in togetherness spirit.

The "loud praise" event featured musical performances, poetry as well as spiritual food to enhance a relationship with God. The evening included a Biblical message from Pastor Ajibola Abimbola, Head Pastor for Area 59, and a short address by Brother Franklin Azuka, the Area 59 Youth Representative.

High Praise
Loud applause rented the air as the Youth Alive Fellowship- Area Choir rendered beautiful melodies to worship the most high God, first as a band, and then individually. Progressing with the choir leader, Brother Yomi, elevating the high praise to another level.

Message
Pastor Ajibola energetically delivered a captivating message on the Glory of the Church and how the youths are God's battle axes in the end time agenda, citing Micah chapter 4 verse 1, as lead anchor scripture.

"Young people are the ones God is looking for, you don't give a vision to an old man who is close to his grave, God is putting visions in the hands of young men and women. Micah 4 verse 1 is painting imagery to capture certain specific agendas for the end times. The church will overtake other institutions already in place, other religions become irrelevant and the church becomes popular. If Faith Tabernacle is scaring you, wait for The Ark, and if that is not enough, wait for the one that God is planning next"

Both Pastor Ajibola and Brother Frank are well-known Living Faith leaders, as well as spiritual mentors. During the Youth Alive Fellowship convention held in September, Brother Frank led an awareness campaign where he stated that "Supernatural strength in our natural realm requires not just prayers, but to align with God’s purpose of restoring Man to fellowship with God."

Dignitaries,
After taking the stage, Pastor Ajibola, introduced other Area Heads in attendance which included Heads of Areas, 26- Denro, 32-Fagba, 25- Akute and 61- Adiyan. Shortly after, Brother Frank welcomed the zonal representatives. Applause and standing ovation also followed Dean's performance, an invitee, who led the crowd in colorful rendition of popular Christian songs, followed by some God inspired wordplay from another zonal representative.

Performance
Before closing the evening in worship, high praise and general dancing, Pastor Ajibola charged the congregation to collectively shout praises unto the Lord. Then, Pastor Frank announced the reading of testimonies, notably the miracle alert, before welcoming Pastor Ikechukwu on stage for the closing special number.

Testimonies.
Put your hands up for Jesus, somebody, look at your neighbor and shout hallelujah.

"Praise the Lord, Sister Cynthia came to the concert, without any money except the little she would use to buy something for her baby, but in the course of the high praise, while dancing and praising God, received a miracle alert".

SHABACH 2021 ended with a closing remark from Brother Frank, thanking everyone in attendance and contributed to the success of the program, as everyone unanimously agreed that night in God's presence would be a memorable one in the community.

Many in attendance admitted that the night provided a much needed break from daily bustle to reconnect with God,

"Being here tonight, somewhat relieved me of stress, from a spiritual standpoint" an occasional worshipper by the name of Prince Chinedu stated “I kind of feel more connected to God, my spirituality and Christianity, I'm glad to be here.”

Celebrities / Get Familiar With Environmental Heroes: Vannessa Nakate (uganda) by MikePhilly(m): 7:10pm On Nov 23, 2021
www.eiawithbenard.com

Vanessa Nakate, a Ugandan climate justice activist started her activism in late 2018. After becoming concerned about her country’s climbing temperatures in her country, she staged a climate protest in front of her country’s parliament building in 2019. Vanessa has come a long way since then, having founded the Youth for Future Africa, the Africa-based Rise Up Movement and going on to speak at the COP25 gathering in Spain.

Early last year, she joined other youth climate activists to publish a letter to participants at the World Economic Forum appealing to companies and governments to immediately stop subsidizing fossil fuels. She was one of five international delegates invited by Arctic Basecamp to camp with them in Davos during the World Economic Forum

According to Vanessa, she is motivated by the need to ensure the survival of the less privileged in her agricultural-dependent country. She has repeatedly stated that if the world continued with business as usual, African farms might suffer from floods, droughts and other adverse effects of climate change, resulting in lowered food production such that only the most privileged (who are also the world’s biggest emitters) would be able to buy food. People who live in villages and rural communities would suffer more than they already do, all of which would lead to starvation and worsened living conditions.

Vanessa Nakate has been in the news recently owing to an incident where the Associated Press cropped her out of a picture taken alongside white climate activists whilst in Davos for the World Economic Forum and fuelling outrage over the erasure of people of colour in climate change and sustainability news

Celebrities / How Ckay's Groovy Assurance, "Love Nwantinti" Became A Global Hit. by MikePhilly(m): 8:00pm On Nov 21, 2021
Just weeks after the release of the highly anticipated self titled album, CKay the First back in 2019, CKay made an unforgettable impression when he confidently bounced into DreamOut Studio for the first time.

"If I am as good as they say I am, then I should be able to push myself to the same league where these Ronaldos are playing, Lagos is where everything is, not even Abuja has the capacity"

Love Nwantinti came as a song, has like 3 lives, then the remix came, and then it has a video. Chilling out during a recorded conversation with Africa's radio Queen, Ife Ajagbe, in what can described as a visionary consultation, it gets more interesting as their friendly session quickly turns globally oriented, with the "Love Nwantinti" crooner discussing his international interests and steps already taken.

"The original has a video, but its not out yet. I released my EP in August last year, my first official EP, and its really beautiful. Its definitely one of the best Afrobeats project last year, Albums and EP, and I say that with my chest. The pedestal we are trying to get to, we have to make certain moves"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJnzRQEIl30

The gentle aphrodisiac soundtrack has become a global revelation on air and online, within a year after consulting renowned music pacesetters, which subsequently led to fans flocking to the song on streaming services, as well as plenty of other cuts within CKay’s musical listings. Covid19 lockdown went into full mode just weeks after this recording, forcing the show to go via Instagram live.

"I'm excited by the idea of making music that brings all these people together, from Tanzania, Kenya. Its crazy to me, and this is like a huge continent, I have not even been to Kenya, nor Tanzania but Its beautiful to see that African music is crossing boundaries. I see people from the UK as well, girls tagging me on their videos and it's just really amazing to see"

In the video, CKay recaps a purpose driven journey, which details his working relationship with Chocolate City, and MI especially, while maintaining confidence of his music crossing boundaries and bringing people together.

Celebrities / How To Escape Sex Trap by MikePhilly(m): 4:53pm On Nov 19, 2021
Many today old and young even children are victims of satan's sex trap. Right from time immemorial, satan, the god of this world possesses three traps which he has successfully used to destroy many lives and great destinies, they are sex, drug and alcohol and money and power traps and the most deadly is the sex trap.

Many homes and marriages have crumbled because they are victims of sex trap. Lives have been destroyed, great destinies wasted, establishments ruined, presidents and leaders of nations are also victims of sex trap: the news and social media are awashed with such stories on regular or even on daily basis.

HOW TO ESCAPE SEX TRAP
1. To believe you can handle sexual problems by yourself, is a lie of the devil to keep you perpetually in his captivity of sexual bondage.

2. Seek spiritual help - go for deliverance prayers. Sexual problems are often more spiritual than physical. Carefully seek christian counsellors and servants of God with spiritual conpetence in the areas of sexual problems.

3. Avoid sex triggers - triggers are what you see, hear or do that arouse you to sex such as dressing nude and sexy, watching pornographic films and pictures, partying, clubbing, alcohol and hard drugs.

4. Avoid being alone with the opposite sex whether they are your siblings, friends, classmates, in - laws, or colleagues in the office. A meeting of fuel and fire will end in an inferno. It is a predator (male) and prey (female) world.

5. Severe all illicit relationships with immediate effect.

6. Ignore the crowd and be different. Everybody is doing it does not make it right. You are not same with everybody.

7. Prepare for war - once strongholds of sexual problems are built, you can't wish them away, you must resolve to fight and conquer or remain a victim of sex trap for life.

8. Guard your eyes and ears they are gateways to your mind and brain where actions are initiated.

9. Make critical and intelligent decision about your body, so you don't live with regrets tomorrow.

10. Use your head and not feelings and emotions... they are often unreliable like your sin partner they change with time. God is your only sure anchor in life.

11. Transmute the sex drive to beneficial passions such as sports, reading, develop yourself in I. C. T or build skills that will contribute to your future.

12. Know that all pathways lead to a destination (good or bad). And the pathway of sexual immorality leads to eternal punishment in the Lake of fire forever and ever. Rev. 20:15

13. The pathway of sexual purity leads to eternal bliss with God forever and ever in heaven. You can make choices, but you can't choose the consequences. Consequences are fixed based your choices.

Be prayerful and watchful against sex traps. Read and study the word of God daily. King David also a victim of sex trap with one of his subjects, (read 1 Samuel 11) Uriah's wife said " thy word have I hid in my heart that I will not sin against thee" Psalm 119:11.

Are you deep down in the valley of sexual immorality and perversions and you don't know how to come out, or trapped in immoral relationships or you are battling with uncontrollable urge for sex and have even had sex with animals. Jesus can set you free today! Please, say this salvation prayers. Lord Jesus, I come to you today, I acknowledge my sins including sexual sins, come into my life, save me from my sins and deliver me from the yoke of sexual bondages in Jesus name. Amen.

Celebrities / Why You See A Lot Of Malice In The Church by MikePhilly(m): 9:00am On Nov 19, 2021
God be praised

Do you know God does not love Christ than you?

The reasons Christians move from altar to altar, seeking Christ as if he's lost is because they have not really discovered the epitome and nitty gritty of the love God has towards us. If we all can get a revelation of real, perfect love that God has towards us, you wont be confused in life, and it will be very easy to move closer to the Lord.

One day as I was praying, the Holy Spirit ministered to me "do you know God does not love Christ more than you" who is the joint heir with Christ, are we not? Christ is the first, we are the second, so we are also part of the family, the right the first born has to the estate is the same right with the second born. God has adopted us as His beloved, so we are not trying to win God's love.

People are trying to win God's love by doing things in the house of God, whereas these are the responsibilities of a son. And in any house, as the son is growing up, he begins to have responsibilities like cleaning, washing the car and all the things we are supposed to do naturally. We are not supposed to be coerced or use that to buy God's love. We are supposed to do it, even when God has not told us to do it.

When I was in secondary school, in the dormitory, we had portions whereby when you wake up in the morning, you go out and take care of your portion, because if you dont, you're gonna receive lashes. As sons of God we have our portion in the kingdom, some are to win souls, evangelists, some are teachers, some are apostles, some are prophets and some are pastors.

When Jesus ascended to heaven, he gave gifts to men, so its our responsibility to use those gifts. So we are not using those gifts to buy love, because we cannot buy God's love. They think the more they go to church, or do this and that, but it's their responsibility as children of God. Once you've been adopted, God loves you and it cannot change. God does not reverse what He has said. Its we human beings that reverse our feelings when something happens. In God's own agenda, when He loves you, he loves you.

That's why I ask many Christians, "since you've given your life to Christ, have you sinned or offended God"

You need to understand the magnitude of the love God has for us before you can extend that love to others. But when you dont have the revelation of that love God has for you first, it will be very difficult to extend that love, and that's why you see a lot of malice in the church. Because they have not really appreciated the love God has for them, so it is very difficult to extend the love to others.

Jesus is Lord

Politics / We Need To Take Over That Land Called Nigeria- YRC by MikePhilly(m): 8:01am On Nov 19, 2021
Christians are out of time, we think we have the time but we are actually running out of time and don't know.

The way we are living today is not the way we should be living, Christians do not live with a sense of urgency. Yeah, we need to make money, pursue business, go to school, travel out, and so much more, agreed, but at this period, the coming of the Lord has never been so real, so clear, so conspicuous in any other time in history than the time we are living in. All the signs Jesus pointed out are glaring at us and yet we are living as if nothing is happening, no shaking, that's the way we are living and its worrisome. If the trumpet does not sound in a certain way, people will not prepare for heaven.

What can be done?

There's nothing to be done, everything that should be done has been done. What the Bible says is that, let him that has ears, hear what the spirit is saying. Now everybody has ears, so why would the Bible say that. Some people don't have hearing ears but itching ears, basically we need to pray to God to give us grace to live a life of urgency in this business.

We need to take over for Allah

See the muslims, they are coming en masse, because there is urgency, they need to take over Nigeria. Some are coming without hope of where to stay, some don't even know the road to Lagos. Lately some people saw them at Ogere, where they stood and were asking "where is Lagos" they don't even know where they're going, because there's a sense of urgency, "we need to take over that land called Nigeria, take over for Allah". They sit on trucks, sit inside with cows, pigs- sense of urgency. But Christians don't have it and to think we will defeat them, let's see how.

God loves business minded people

One of the things about God is, He's holy, righteous but He loves business minded people, whether good or bad. He's more ahome with them than lazy people. May God strengthen us, the only thing we can do is get the word out and trust God to do the rest in Jesus name. But as of now, I am very scared.

I'm scared because what the Bible says is coming to pass and people are not careful about it. The Bible says all who dwell on earth will worship satan, It can even be seen in the church, not just the world. The devil has brought out patterns for us. When they say, worship Satan, we think one day, the devil will enter church, kill the Pastor and say everybody must worship me, or that he'll say "you've heard about me, but don't know me, but today, all of you are gonna worship me whether you like it or not" it will never happen like that, the devil has left that level long ago.....
