But really where have you seen Happy New Year abbreviated at HNY , whats the point of abbreviations if the recipient doesn't know what it stands for. Looooooooooool very funny guy. |
They say if you buy a man shoes he walks out on you with them 'Reed Between the Lines' on BET does anyone else watches that program? ![]() |
simple search Chemical Engineering = 4 years but you come out with MEng which means you've done an extra year of graduate studies. http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/ugprospectus/facultiesanddepartments/chemicalengineering/chemengcourse Biomedical Engineering = You can do the exact same as above or you can simply finish after 3 years and be awarded BEng rather than MEng http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/ugprospectus/facultiesanddepartments/bioengineering/bioengcourses Fhemmmy: |
justwise:You maybe right - it may depend on the program and school. If its Engineering you may be in a better position to advise the above poster. |
Not too sure about Engineering! but you definitely spend your first two years doing lectures, seminar etc etc and should you be on a sandwich course then in your third year you go work in a company for a year then come back the following year to complete your studies, just check out the universities websites like Imperial uni |
justwise:Nooooo it takes place in your 3rd year then you come back the following year to finish of your degree. Trust me I just graduated last year and my friend who went to France is back this year but we started the same time (for 1st and 2nd year) but she jetted off and i completed my final year. This is for the UK degrees. |
Typically an undergraduate degree in the UK are 3 years (with the exception of Medicine and Architecture), however you can do 4 year degree where the extra year is a study abroad option or work experience this usually is your third year then you come back to complete your degree in your 4th year. However not all universities offer the 4 years degree and not all courses have this 4 year degree as an option got to do your research however the norm in the UK is 3 years for bachelors degree. |
Took my gre today I got 149V I47Q i don't know what I got for AWA although i think that was my best section. I'm so annoyed $190 down the drain and i refuse to rewrite as I think its time-consuming doing something I probably wouldn't do again in my life - learning the surface area of a cylinder grrrrrr. TBH I was hoping for 150 on both sections because I'm terrible with these complicated vocabularies and I'm not an arithmetic/mental maths person - i.e I use calculator for everything coupled with the time pressure I just crumbled like a wet fish. I knew I failed because the first one Verbal was sooo hard and the gre test is section adaptive (dammit). It felt like I was doing a 10-hour exam by the end of the issue-task I was tired (imagine!), ok I'm making excuses now ![]() Anyways I've sent those scores off and hope the two universities that I'm applying to overlook these dreadful scores. I shall be trading-in my Barrons book on Amazon and getting something to cheer me up. Good luck everyone !! ![]() |
Dunno why no one has said this but take into consideration the scottish accent/language, i don't even no sef if its a language lolol, anyways one of the best lecturer at my uni (which is none of the ones your considering) had a very very serious scottish accent in the beginning it was slightly (for me anyways) difficult to comprehend but by the time I finished my undergrad I can safely say his one of if not the best economics teacher I've come across. Seeing has your considering doing a masters course which is only one year do take this into consideration. I haven't been to Scotland but from the weather forecasts the cold is ghastly up there however notwithstanding its a very cultural environment I know the Scots pride themselves when it comes to there culture - which is interesting, note I didn't say 'multi-cultural because I'm not too sure about that' |
*subscribed* Good luck everyone i have to gain admission first lolol, most probably be applying for visa around May/June 2012, , All your stories are very interesting and helpful!! Its very interesting to see that these VO's don't place as much emphasis on finances as I would have thought. Also is anyone going to a state that they don't have family and friends, I'm most likely will - kinda scared as I'm a very homely girl looool. Anyways sha I have kinda a year to pukker up . #fall 2012 applicant. |
justwise:loooooooooooooooooool |
komekn:born in Scotland but why would your parents go so far north, its so cold up there lolol To the thread starter going Nigeria is super fun esp during xmas but i wouldn't recommend you going by yourself , even places like hotels were you are ment to feel safe are not safe. Get in contact with your family or go with a couple of friends, , this as got me thinking do actually go on holidays by themselves |
denzel2009:loooooooooooooooooooooooooooool too funny |
prince3342:ah ha what kind rubbish, you taped her cell and laptop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTFFFFFFFFF, you are acting like you own her, your a very very strange guy. I will admit most women would be thrilled to move in with their hubby however everyone is different. She probably just wants to gain some independence which is understandable. Imagine living with your parents your whole life and then you move straight into marriage In my opinion let her move in an apartment just make sure its not too far from her parents so at least their is some watchful eyes around simple! , tbh I don't even understand why people do this long distance relationship for longgg, what relationship is that where your living in the states and shes in Nigeria , #complications things like this i run away from looool, anyway sha its your calling. Good luck |
wow 26 and still at your parents. I don't know is that the norm? My only advice is to buckle down pass your exam get a job and move out. Because although you will be benefitting from free food shelter blah blah etc etc, you haven't experience independence which I feel is very important in your personal development. Such as managing your finances, general up keep of your accommodation, providing food for yourself etc I know the last point people may laugh but back at uni esp with all the work load finding time to cook was a struggle mehnnn thank God for quick food like pasta loool.I know how you feel tho i finished uni and moved back home and i'm just frustrated I can't go anywhere without my mum knowing its really annoying, she keeps a tab on the time i come home i feel like a prisoner sometimes, I'll just advice you to make sure u do very well and get a good job then you can do whatever you like, (or you can just move out but i pressume that doesn't go down well in 9ja ) |
i think both of you are mumu's loool (no offense) But in the beginning none of you defined what type of relationship you're in. Are you two officially dating or just very close friends because it isn't clear which one you guys are. And until you define your relationship both of you will be confused hence you will think your in a relationship and she would think she isn't and goes off to get a new boyfriend etc etc. communication is the key. ![]() |
tanimola22:Hey Tanimola, thanks for d fast response. Yes pleaseeeeee i need a lil more explanation on this GPA system its very confusing (to say the least). I'll be applying to one of the top schools in the states (not an ivy o lol) as well as canada so need to put in a very good app. |
ma test is in January and i literally just started revising yesterday , the verbal reasoning part is gunna kill me all these words , and now you can only resit every 60 days which means i can't resit if i intend to meet the deadline |
imperiouxx:I can read you know, I read what he wrote, and i assumed that by the age of 22 he may have already done his undergrad so rather than starting a new undergrad in the states maybe he'd be better of applying for postgrad or professional qualifications etc. That was my suggestion, if you have any other suggestions you can reply directly to him ![]() |
kidUrbane:Couldn't you go for your masters instead, undergrad in the states is 4 years and for international students it will be very costly, i think its more cost-effective to go to the states for your postgrad and go to one of the European countries for your undergrad as its usually 3 years. I'm planning to do my masters next year and i'll be 23 like you (in August tho) and i'm stuck between canada and usa , all the really good schools outside of HYP are very very expensive just for 12 months ![]() |
Hey guys, you're all right it all boils down to my research and how I come about making my decision, its one of those things that I'll have to make a decision on my own. I'll continue my research and hopefully will make the right choice, thanks for the input guys really appreciate it x |
Aww brilliant I'll call up tomorrow thanks for the info bro really appreciate it. Its frustrating this job hunting, |
violent:hmmm very solid advice. I might think this master thing over because I really want to do it abroad and it seems as the best universities are either in the states or the UK which is frustrating. I'm currently trying to secure an internship as its easier to get onto a grad program that route. I'm currently in that phase where every job wants experience but as a fresh grad I don't have experience - catch 22!! |
violent:I know but the top US schools are really expensive we are talking of $40k+ on tuition fees alone and as an international student I'll to pay for visa accommodation living expenses etc, I already have student debt and i'm not looking to get into any more debt, thats why I am looking else where ![]() |
Dis Guy:They don't but looking at the world rankings on uni of toronto and Mcgill comes in the top 50, Queen's university comes in at #144 and because many of UK universities that I can easily get into are higher up in this ranking i'm a bit apprehensive but i really wanna study abroad, decisions deccisions decisions, |
On my quest to find out more information on Queen's university in Canada as I want to do my masters coming from the UK, I found this thread lol Please please please poster DO NOT COME to London South Bank, as many people have said, in the UK the majority of firms especially the big firms filter candidates by which university they attend, even with top grades, high scores in the online tests etc only a few people and I mean a few people outside the top 20 universities make it through the recruitment of these big firms - I'm talking from experience of the recruiting process in the investment banking industry but I'm sure oil companies etc are just as competitive. Especially with the fact that your a foreigner and with a 2.2 in your first degree, its almost a recipe for disaster. If you can't get into top 20 uni don't bother not just because of employment prospects but also because these degrees are not cheap. I think your better of networking in Nigeria via people you know and try get a job in the O&G industry - you know the saying 'its not what you know its who you know'. I've lived in the UK all my like London South Bank are for the kids that didn't make the grades and to be honest its even worse because even mid-rank uni's don't ask for very high grades i.e LSB is really for people who failed there alevels or thereabouts. Please think twice. On a lighter note can people advise me on Queen's university in Canada - I want to do my masters there but its ranked quite low so i'm still contemplating. |
Hey guys, how is Kingston, Ontario as in the area?? Can people please inform me of the pros and cons of the area, looks like i'm most probably going to go university there providing they accept me. Are there loads of Nigerians there ![]() |
If you haven't been to the Nigerian Embassy in London - You haven't seen anything. Just to enter the building is where the problem begins - Me and my mum got there at 8:10am approx you had to see the amount of people blocking the entrance, even the two security guards were overwhelmed lolol. Then he (the security guard) shouts "If your print out does not have 'payment confirmed' on it you can not enter this building" bearing in mind we are still outside on the streets lol in Westminster even the builders nearby couldn't comprehend what was going. My mum being my mum made her way to the front and ensured we got in - this was about 9.30am-ish. To my surprise the room is also very small - we were renewing our passports so we had to get our number and wait. I felt i was in a choir rehearsal the amount of different noises you hear is funny lol. Then sum man tried to jump in front of us just because we didn't hear the woman call our number. We were 36 but when my mum hear "number 37" you had to see how my mum jumped to the front (usain bolt has nothing on my mum lol). But that part was just to check we paid online and our postal order (kmt lolol). Then we had to go back and sit down again. Someone took our seats (u trust my mum) we got our seats back o!! After that ordeal i didn't follow my mum to o collect the passports - i stayed home thank u very much looooooool |
Wow what a story but, Are you sure he is from the UK? I mean how can you be sure he wasn't just trying to trick you in getting into his bed, Also even if he was in the UK how will you trace him especially if he isn't legal? I do hope you find him, ![]() |
Mrs. Siena:Loool did someone steal your money or something, there was no need for you to be rude. Yes i know this is not a Yoruba thread, however its still relevant to the original question as the initial question is based on traditions/how things were back in the days. Plus i'm sure the Igbo's/Hausa's/Urhobo's etc have their own version that is equivalent to the Yoruba's. Anyways there is no rules that says i can not ask this question. Please if you know you don't know the answer or do not want to answer, you can always ignore me, its not by force. |

, #complications things like this i run away from looool, anyway sha its your calling. Good luck
