Siga: ...which one is friendship marriage? lolfriendship marriage is the middle ground between arranged and love marriage.. ![]() |
ambrosini593: Which one do you prefer?umm, i prefer friendship marriage, |
beneff: Hello house, am i the only one trying to really understand what it means when ladies (no matter their distance from u) pop up dis question. Often times when u say 'yes' d next question may be about what u ate and when d answer is 'no or not yet' d next would be 'look for something to eat nah...' dose this actually mean love or just a way of.........Due to the cultures we come from, not all our families exactly taught in our families how to often say i love you or show care so openly, so for girls, when they talk to you just like they saw their mom speak to others to show care; A girl who cares for your well being and askes whether you have fed or if you are healthy, truly loves or care for you, not all this two kobo i love you words some of these fastfood girls use on some of you men, and you guys just fall yakata for bed...mtchewww... So my dear if you have woman who askes you such questions then know she really cares for you and wants whats best for you. I have asked the questions to people i care for, even ordering food for them while in a whole different state. Its not just a mere saying or progression of question that come with greeting. as african-nigerian well raised girls, we are taught to show feelings through action, usually through food. so there you have it. She cares!! Again maybe for others its a mere question, but for me when i ask it, its to show care, especially when am not there to make the food for ya. |
DMainMan: aw dare u call ALLAH a diety. What do u think Arab and Hausa christians call GOD.dude, are you alright ( in mercy johnson's voice) are you like really alright? this is why i tell true muslims, study the history of your religion, just dont believe everything the islamic teachers tell you, be educated for yourself, I believe my mom in what she says, by the way i researched it before i put it on here... ALLAH was a diety your muhammed conquered and made God, its not the christian God, We christians and other people just chose not to point that out to some mumu's like yall for sake of peace, so una no go dey try kill person for speaking truth, but maybe in your mind Allah has become the true God, and that is you, after all its hard to teach an old dog a new trick, so go bow to your moon God-for that is what your Allah is. Not my oluwa oooo. Allah is similar to shango or ogun or amadioha, justa pagan God, go sleep with that knoweledge, for you allah is not and will never be Oluwa or chukwu... Pz out foolz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-82PT90T28 |
chingyjant: “I did not accept Islam, I only revert to the religion that our forefathers practice and the universal religion of humanity" Considering this statement from this Chief you will know clearly that this man has hidden agenda.Because there was no day our Fore Fathers practiced Islamic religion not even Christianity. This man should be looked closely. He is already in Abuja all the way from the East this tells you that he may want to take advantage of the religion and its influential people in power in order to get some sort of favour he cannot get as a Christian.Thats my view anyway it might be contrary though... omg you know its a great planooo, i mean think about it-if prominent political igbo guys convert to islam, the north and west might just allow them to be president...lmaoo..i don die.. ndi igbo kwenu, kwezue nu, una too get sense!!! lol |
fkaz: Thus it mean Igbo people known about Islam before Christianity?.. "this man is confused, second his attributing ALLAh as AlA maybe a deity his ancestors worshiped. And yes islam was in africa before christianity came, but this man is wrong by calling it the religion of his ancestors, - islam and christianity are both borrowed religions, not any of our traditional religions, btw, did you know Allah is a hedonistic diety that mohammed stole from a tribe he conquered, Allah is not the same as the Christian or jewish God, we christian just think so for sake of peace..-you know sometimes old age can be sickness "- by my mom- it cracked me up, but is not wrong to practice another religion just dont use the excuse that it was the religion of your ancestors. I have heard judaic practicing igbos claim they are jewish, now this guy wants to claim his ancestors are muslim, there is nothing i will never hear from my igbo people. I still love yall..muah!! |
okpara ugo: Have you googled Don Jazzy before writing thisyou are also a fool, he speaks the tongue, his maternal grandparents are igbo, not his father. e spent some time in isuikwuato growing up and so. Get over it. If donjazzy wants to be igbo, it can only be by mouth, not by father. I am done trying to convince you, i know the fact, and truth, accept it, and stop wishing. At the end of the day he is nigerian, and one we should be proud of regardless of tribe. Happy New year.. ciao . Its like calling rotimi amechi yorubaman, just because his mom is yoruba, it will not happen, he is an igbo man. |
afam4eva: Yesare you okay? seriously, donjazzy who's sister i know very well, they are isoko, the only person that is igbo is the mother, get over it afam, the guy is not igbo, if i lie ask him. and the igbo middle names are given in respect to his grandparents who are of royal ngwa lineage, that i know for sure. dude get over it jor.. at the end of the day a part of him is from his tribe. |
afam4eva: You're wrong about that.wrong about what? donjazzy is not igbo |
mazidumex: These guys were role models to many when it comes to keeping friendships and understanding each other, no one ever saw a ''break-up'' coming. Now they both own their own record labels; D'banj owns DB records while Don Jazzy owns the MAVIN music label.Poster, you are a fool period. So you spent your time writing up this rubbish, for your info donjazzy is not igbo, his isoko man, just like me he has an igbo mother, but not father, and by tradition and culture you are what your father is. It is people like you that bring about ethnic bashing. |
I think the movie that makes me cry the most and that i cherish has got to be conspiracy starring onyeka onwenu.. Dang that movie man...chai..also starring osuofia, larry kolsweat the other has got to be deeper than face- starring junior pope.. Armadillo starring clem ohameze Also Evil passion- man that movie, and black angel....- these were when naija movies were of quality and had good story. "You and i will live as one, our love will last forever, you and i... oooh, you and i, you and i will live as one." This movie made me fall inlove with the east, even wanted to marry an igbo guy so he would sing this song for me in igbo... lol childhood memories... ebizina na chukwu nnoso, ezigbo nne'm ebezina na chukwu nnoso |
chiboy1928: That is the reason I would love to marry a ghanian girl they are very simple, humble, down to earth, loving and cAring most of them are faithful unlike our nigeria girls waiting for a sweet rich guy,or a posh house @ lekki.majority of our nigeria girls with dat rich syndrome mentality suck can never marry a nijah girls, but if I would, I will rather go for the girl dat grow up in d village and give her a sound education not dis city girl lookin for fried chicken and burger waitin to dry ur fat account till u get broke in d name fake love!boy please, are u alright in the brain department, lmaoo, infact just dont generalize... the village girls could be worse, and it has nothing to do with the individual's location, but the person itself and their upbringing, you might find rich humble girls, and the truth is most girls that come from money are usually very humble, its usually those that their parent comes into "new money" that have big head and do the am a rich posh this etc, and sometimes some just fake being well off. I know a lot of girls that play am a rich girl in lagos when their papa and mama live for village and no fit get three sq meal. so dont generalize, it could cost u a good woman, an u never know she might be rich----with love 4 ya ![]() |
agiboma: @ OP Im also non Nigerian married and have 2 kids for an Igbo man. Well i can see you love this man, but in reality he is not for you, he has a wife. Its possible he wants a baby with you so he can be more polygamous. The truth is that you found out about the marriage now you can choose to stay with a married man or you can move on and let it be. The choice is yours. You dont need any other proof. Perhapes he is fileing for the wife and the papers have not come through yet or maybe he just wants to keep her in Nigeria and you in the USA. How did he get his papers for the USA in teh first place? There is a reson why th ewife is not their with him but none the less, ask yourself this question, "are you comforteble being with a married man" and let your answer guide your decision making. GLmy dear you forgot to read when she said they have been together for 11 years, and she finally saw a marriage certif that says 2007, and she said they broke up a few years ago, and i believe that was when he went home and married the wife. The woman who has been with him for 11 years in all honesty should have been smarter. She forgot to do what must oyibos who fall for african men do, learn his culture and show him you can appreciate his culture by learning to cook certain dishes, once they see you respect their culture, they will wife you up faster than you can say i do. What i have noticed is that some black americans who enter into relationships with african men dont care about their man's culture at all. The fact is an african man will marry his oyibo girl, before an akata, because oyibos are willing to assimilate and appreciate the man's culture. As for him having a wife at home, its not his fault, you were there all these years he was single-as in unmarried, maybe even before the other woman... and yes in my book she is the other woman, cuz you had him first, but she is also the smarter woman, because she made him wife her up. |
my dear if he married her in 2007, that means he must have married her when yall split, the moment he told you his sister didnt approve, i think that was the clue. I dont get you 11years, you should have tied him down within 2 yrs, talk of 11yrs, you are the cause of your own problem. One thing about most educated igbo men, that are traditional which your man sound like, if you get pregnant for him he would have had to marry, you. Its obvious he loves you or care about you for igbo men i know spoil girls they care. I think you are the one he loves, but the wife he just got is out of cultural obligations. SO wait my sister, before you know it that wife he will bring over will start misbehaving and he will come back to you, mark my word. |
I would say be with whoever you feel will not cause you to die an early death and who respects you. whether rich or poor. lol. I think in nigeria most girls are raised to marry for money not for love anything else. No matter the tribe. Now most men dont want to marry a girl from a poor family because he knows that most likely his wives people's money problem will be heaped on his head. Now some girls from the said humble family who marry rich men expect the men to help her family status rice and so forth, no matter how you look at it someone has to gain. One thing is that in a marriage of obvious wealth difference the one that has the most money is usually the one truely head over heels inlove, and the other person is just enjoying..And if money goes, love will go. Now you can understand why the rich prefer their children to marry within their social class wants one to keep the money amongst the elite, two to make sure there is more to the marriage than money. Most wealthy men who are ambitious and worked and made their own money and didnt get it handed to them usually looks for a woman that will push them and also one that is ambitious as him. There is a joke about marrying for love is for the poor, and the truth is , it really is, for the poor who marry eachother love endearingly. the rich who marry eachother are more committed and more driven to keep their family together, no matter what happens, to protect the wealth. Their similar goals are usually what keeps their marriage and of course the children. For the poor, its more of a believe that God will provide, and its sad they fail to notice that God helps those that help themselves. Whether you marry rich or poor, make sure you marry someone you can leave with till death do you part. Money goes, but what stays is the love, respect, friendship that are intangible and cannot be bought. Truth is when you truly love someone financial background or family status has no bearing... its actually an after thought for some. True love endures all. Rich or poor. |
I think i understand where this guy is coming from. So he wants a God fearing woman, i dont blame him for i know as a woman we have our secrets and so do men, fearing God wont stop a man or woman from keeping a secret if they want, am just sayingooooo ... Merry Xmas. But it is good he knows that a woman who knows her self-worth and doesnt throw herself at him is worth recognizing. |
akintun: lol and dude dont vex, his not wrong, if the civil war didnt happen, most people that had opportunity to buy shares and the money, wouldnt have had the opportunity because they would have had competition so my bro isnt wrong, but he typed it, and i guess he stated it the wrong way. No vex!! oh yell merry xmas, and xoxo!! Slol dude, first of all he is not being tribalistic, he just wrote what he meant in the wrong way, By the way, my bro has no reason to be tribalistic, we are a multitribal family, and if you must know we hail from ogun state, omo ijebu... so dont call him tribalistic. merry xmas ![]() |
lagcity: Tell your "brother" that he is a fvcktard. Yoruba didn't get rich from the civil war. Yoruba got rich from buying shares. Na crime to buy shares again?lol and dude dont vex, his not wrong, if the civil war didnt happen, most people that had opportunity to buy shares and the money, wouldnt have had the opportunity because they would have had competition so my bro isnt wrong, but he typed it, and i guess he stated it the wrong way. No vex!! oh yell merry xmas, and xoxo!! ![]() |
drnoel: wait make una wait. U guys are not asking the right questions. Mr Femi Otedola, who happens to be an expert in denying pregnancies he is responsible for and is now also involved in Lawangate scandle happens to be a Billionaire. He sold stationaries then in 1986 and his family was well to do (not super rich). Pls someone tell me, when from 1986 to 2012 did this man move from someone from a well to do family selling stationaries to be an oil magnate billionaire.MY BROTHER SAID "#BIAFRA HAPPENED AND BABA AWO MADE WEST BETTER WITH OTHER PEOPLE's MONEY, AND YOU FORGET HIS PAPA NA FORMER GOVERNOR, CONNECTIONS, that is how a stationary seller can become a billionaire in 27 years.. no be hard!!!!!"....lol i dont know if his right but am sure we know that many families that are rich today in the west is thanks to the civil war and oil share sharing when shell was forced to sell shares to nigerians. ..btw let no body try to curse me out ooo, just agreed with what my brother said. ...Merry xmas yall! |
quicksylva: Bro, she's not demanding for the custody of the girl (she is already an adult), she just want to see her daughter. Summary of the story, She didn't abandon her, the girl was with her until she was 2yrs old, Femi parents now took custody of the little girl, they were responsible for her education and upbringing. She claims that on several occasions she has been to femi's house demanding to see her child yet she wasn't granted access to see her daughter.ummm actually she is not entitled to his fortune, cuz he never married her... but she is entitled to see her daughter, but i have a feeling the family have lied to this girl her whole life about her mother, that the girl might think the mom died. #just saying.. |
jchime: Yoruba people and their character self. Cut off this Yoruba ppl and naija will become virtuos......why is it that their penis no dey gree sleepARE YOU MAD, ARA ODI Gba ghi, WHY DO YOU USE ONE FAMILY's action to apply to a whole tribe, kpacha kwara onweghi anya oo...- dont vex meooo.. Anyways am in naija for the holidays, now in calabar.. ![]() |
now i understand why most respecting igbo people make sure your marry their daughters if you put her in a family way, because if you dont marry her, the child whether it has your dna, traditionally isnt yours, you become just a sperm donor, and the child bears her maiden name. And traditional laws are superior to most governtment laws. Now i understand why my father had to finish paying my mom's bride price `10 years after their original white wedding. HAHAHHAHAHA!!! This is too funny. By law she has the right to see her child, in many cultures, the child belongs more to her family than to his, for he never paid her bride price. But my question is, why havent this grown daughter searched for her mother? or did they lie to her and tell her the woman is dead? I wont put it past themoo. Chai... i leave you with this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGIp3gVuslY |
i think its because some women have become for sale for highest bidder and sex is easier to get from easy girls, so the men dont feel they have to chase anymore, all some of them have to do is flash money signs and these hungry babes just spread open. No morals+ no respect for self+ easy life= easy catch. And dont generalize on men and women, but personally if i like a guy I like to be the one to dine and wine him, maybe its my controlling nature, but I dont find a guy that comes after me attractive, its better when i am the one that approaches- Personally, then if the guy fancy me then we can go from there. |
Yvete: I try to avoid comments that begets another response and then, its prolonged, dragged on, etc, but I'll say something anyways.ok I can see your point, but it is still biased. None is innocent in these nigerian marriage matters. For most things, its cultural clash and men wanting to have a wife like their moms and grandmothers, forgetting that things change and so does people. My point is that most of these men are not just lazy, some work, have good jobs, but the fact is that most of the time their wives working in the medical fields will make more than them. Men need to adjust and so do women, but the problem comes in when these women try to become the men. Like i said my mom cooks when she can, and my dad when he can. Now that we are all out of the house living on our own, when my dad gets hungry- ( his 57 oo) and my mom isnt home he either cooks for himself or take from the freezer what my mother has cooked already, he doesnt complain. I think he even cooks better than my mom at times, lol. So a man cooking shouldnt be a surprise or culture shock , many men do it in naija( especially single) even in the village. I believe that that having gone to uni in the states and meeting my mom here also made him assimilate to the culture, while they still held their traditional culture with a little fixes. When a woman doesnt have respect for her husband and culture that is when she feels she can do anything she wants without restriction. It is a woman's job to maintain peace, not to diminish it. My other advice is to Nigerian men, if you cannot bear with the fact that the wife you might marry from naija might turn into cruella davil, marry the nigerian girl already here, or who ever else that fancy you. Oyibo will do their best to maintain your culture, even to the extent of cooking your native dishes. In my opinion even nigerian born girls here have more respect for their culture than those in nigeria and village. Yes some of these men want a woman they can control to a certain degree, but not all, they just want someone that will keep their culture but they forget that america is not nigeria where culture rules over democracy. |
personally i like the individual not his tribe or family. So none, plus each have their bad and good parts. in an igbo person-i adore their hospitality towards visitors and tenacious spirit in a yoruba person- i adore their treatment of the old, the respect atoned to their elders, and their yearning for advancement. in an hausa person - i adore his sense of religion and truth in an edo person- i adore their non -shameful way of borrowing in a fulani person - i adore their safe guarding of self, and how most of them look alike..lol in a tiv- i adore their story telling ways in an efik- i adore their need for humility BASICALLY MY WHOLE IDEA IS THERE IS SOMETHING TO LIKE IN EVERYONE!!! |
I think the day you give up the religion of your colonizers, aka arabs, british etc, you then can reclaim your native what ever. But all my names are nigerian, middle name igbo, first and surname yoruba. No one in my family has an english name, if people want to know our english names, we usually translate our native names to english for them. Lol. I think most africans choose to retain their colonizers names, because of what we in america call slave mentally. Brainwashed. They instilled in the people they colonized, both arabs and oyibos, that they are superior, and some of us need to wake up and recognize that none is superior but God. |
Yvete: Crap!! Very judgmental comment.I do not say that part of what you say is not true, but am not being judgmental what i wrote is based on facts and things i have seen with my own eye. I have an uncle, My mom's younger brother who happens to be a professor in university here in the states, makes a good amount of money, but he went to nigeria back in the 90s, married a nigerian girl from abia state his parents found for him, brought her over trained her in nursing school , then she went to medical school, which my uncle payed for. by 2000, when the lady started making more money than her husband she started trying to wear the pants in the family. My uncle makes about $85K a year, but my aunt makes about $40K more than him. My aunts family in nigeria started telling her that since she made the most money she should be able to dictate how it is spent. Before my uncle knew it, she started hiding money, and started sending money to her people and building houses in her own village without my uncle's knowledge. You have to understand my uncle and his wife lived in a very wealthy white suburban neighborhood, so their mortgage was crazy and like many Nigerians drive luxury cars just to put up a front of how well they are doing compared to others, my uncle and his wife did that. The money issue and distrust was what ended their marriage. The only thing is that how she tried making everything hard on the kids by trying to do the divorce here, but in Georgia where they lived and because he married her under nigeria's traditional laws and the international community and usa have to abide by that, my uncle got full custody of his three kids as traditional laws in ngwa land dictates, and plus she pays him spousal and child support because the judge who carried out the case here saw it so, especially since she was the one that petitioned for the divorce, which she dont like now. They divorced after 24 years of marriage, my uncle hasnt remarried, but she dates. My uncle is 16 years her senior, and he married her when she was 18. So Newsflash for any nigerian based woman wanting to marry a yankee husband, as long as your husband married you traditionally first within nigeria, and he takes you to another country, by respect of international laws, your husband if he is smart can use traditional law against you, and the country where you live, as long as its a democracy will have to follow the provisions of the traditional law. Nigerian women who get married in naija needs to know if they marry their husband under traditional laws and not under usa marital laws, that traditional laws super cedes the laws of the state they reside in, my aunt learned that in a hard way. P.S. WHy do you think in naija if you dont do a traditional wedding they dont see you as completely married? |
obisage: who can tell me 5 uses of mouthokay i can see now how you would think you look like nnoso, from the side you kinda do in the picture below this post reply u left, but who is the guy by you, the dark guy, now he resemble a darker version of alex ekubo.. |
seedord247: What version of super story is this?...lolwhat is "nak aphako ?, " and yes what i say about my fam is true, never said parents havent arguedoo, am sure they do, but they do it in the privacy of their bedroom, not in front of us. I think one thing that helped them was making sure early on they separated their chores in the house, my mother used the money she made to pay our school fees all through uni ..food,sports etc, basically she took care of the house needs and kids needs, while my dad just paid the mortgage of the house and insurance, vacations and nigerian properties, so money matter never was a prob really, and we went to private schools from elementary to uni so it wasnt cheap. My dad attended most of our sport games, and school plays and my mother rarely did. My dad cooked when he could and my mom when she could after my grandma left, but we had our grandma around ( my mom's mom) for over 12 years, so she did most of the cooking till my sisters and i took over the kitchen. So i think if couples dealt with that money issue they can easily avoid most arguments, especially in the nigerian community. |
HARDDON: What an absolute crap! A magnanimous BS! Writers like this shld bé amputated so that they wudnt ενεя in their lives think of typing bull!Young man sharrap there, paul knows why he wrote this expose, are americans like nigerians with strict native traditional cultures? noooooooooo!! Here in the usa a lot of nigerian marriages fall apart when the men want to stay rigid or the woman want to become the head of the house hold. They chose not to assimilate into the culture they are living in. Yes culture is important, but dont let it blind you. Now my parents will be married for 32 years this january, My dad is usually the soft tempered type, the one that never punishes, while my mother is the opposite. She is the disciplinarian. My parents have had discussions, i believe for them it is the love and respect they hold for eachother that pulls them through many things, even discussions about biafran war that usually makes my mom cry like no tomorrow, and like the man he is, my father always understand when to anger his wife and when to comfort her. They met in college, were friends first, and then after their first degree he told her how he felt, and she felt the same. I believe that most problems with most naija marriage in the usa is that most of these men go and marry a partner whom they know not much about, except what his people has told him about her, i will tell you us women we are the biggest pretenders, we can hide a certain characteristic until we feel its time to make use of it. Most go and marry "nurse type" thinking that she would be the typical obedient nigerian wife their forefathers had, and they have to wake up to the changes in our culture. Our women are more westernized and by many ways throwing the male dominated culture away. They forget that it is wiser to have a foundation, than to be a floating house. My parents have never fought or screamed in front of us at each other, except once, when my dads people were trying to impose a second wife on my dad, and my mom called a family meeting and told my father, that the day another woman steps into her house as a second wife that that same day, she will take her children back to nigeria, and he cannot do anything about it, because he never finished paying her traditional bride price. lol. My dad never took another wife, that was 15 years ago, and immediately after that discussion my mom had with him and us, he took his people and went home to my mother's people and finished paying her bride price. lmaoo. It was so funny, but he understood the woman he married. As we grew up they taught us that husband and wife fights are to be had when husband wife meet, in the private of their bedroom between them alone. My mom told my sis when she got married ( she married a black america/ puertorican) that she must learn to swallow her pride at times as an educated woman, that sometimes women who feel they make more money than their husbands ( which she does) or have better education can at times feel and act superior to their husbands, which my mother say she must never let happen. Men no matter the culture they stem from have Pride and ego, that most be guarded, for if he truly loves you he will at times let you step on it, but not always, especially african men. It is a wife's job to reassure her husband his place in the household by respecting him and making sure the children respect him also, for a man's pride is mainly his family, and as long as his family treats him like the King he is, then you will forever be his queen." I have sat and pondered what my mother said, knowing my sister who is your typical example of angry black woman..lol, but educated, lol. But my sis has been married for 6 years now and never has she complained to my mom or dad about him. She learned to give him his space ( maybe it also helps since she is a psychiatrist), but yeah she worked on her anger issues. I have watched so many nigerian mothers in usa when they get angry, usually over money ( because we know most of these nurses make more than their husbands) use their children against their husbands. Which is horrible. So my dear, what paul wrote its actually nothing compared to the horror stories i have witnessed. Yes all the blame does not go to the women, but also the men, but it is a woman's job to keep a peaceful family, and most naija women here in the states, are all ready to bring the earth down on their husband irrespective of who they are. |
