Nairaland General › Re: Wife Falsely Accuses Husband Of Plotting To 'Blow Up Plane' by mimifonwon(f): 4:53pm On Dec 17, 2012
sad part is that i know this family... it is sad what some nigerian women do to their husbands here in the usa, because they know most of the laws favor women here, because i swear i have heard women do worst knowing laws in this land prohibit their husband of returning them to their parents without anything like in nigeria without losing out. Traditional divorce in naija is you leave as you came, if you bore him a child, the man keeps the children, but in the usa we know that dont flow that way, most men will lose everything they have toiled for. Most Nigerians dont know how some naija men are disrespected by their wives, things these women know they could never get away with in nigeria. I dont condone violence but some igbo men try their best to keep their families together here in usa, and the women become the abusers. I hope she goes to jail. Her children are grown so they wont miss her much. This is the reason i recommend intertribal marriage grin, because they balance other out. And you dont get madness like this. I have heard worst where a woman accused her husband of committing incest with his niece of 8years and the police came and the girl was never touched, and the husband went for questioning and was released and when the elders asked the woman why she lied, she said he didnt buy her children the toys they asked for, but bought the girl the barbie she wanted,so she thought there was more to their relationships ( crazy right..smh) but she neglect to tell the elders how she had trained her kids to disrespect the father to the extent of fighting the man. I swear my parents have broken up so many fights between so many igbo-ngwa couples, that its like a norm. May God help all the nigerian men, especially those that go home and marry and bring the girl over, for her to start misbehaving and try to be equal to the man, fact, a woman can never be equal to a man, not even in this America. Infact am not trying to come at Igbos here, but the fact is in the states the majority of women who do crazy ish like this against their hubbies are from that tribe. Am sure there are some mad people in yoruba groups here in the states, but so far the igbo women are winning in this sector. _ i write with love and concern from things i have seen and dont want anyone to start insulting me about not being full igbo and thereby not having a right to speak on it. There is something called freedom of speech and i was just exercising it.

Blazay: Thank you.

Yes.
Especially after 34 years. RARE IN AFRICA! kiss
you are wrong, its not rare in africa, but rare in our generation, our grandfathers and grandmothers generation valued marriage.. unfortunately some of our parents dont know their priorities anymore. and by the way my parents have been married for 32, and still are, so its not rare. with good health and dedication a marriage can last till death do you part.

Slizbeat: Apart from the boko haram menace that has claimed most of the deaths in 2012, that of crashes has also joined. Just the last half of the year 2012, nigeria has recorded 4 crashes. That of DANA airline killing 158 on board and over 40 on ground, Oil company Helicopter killing some foreign Investors and Oil Mogul, private jet of taraba state governor Danbaba Suntai leaving him Brain-damaged and yesterday's air mishap at bayelsa killing former NSA rtd. Gen. Andrew Owoye Azazi and Executive and first christian governor of kaduna state, Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa among Others. Now in your own views, what actually is the problem? Is it PDP? Is it ACN? Is it the North? Is it the South? Is it the East? Is it the West? Is it 1914 Amalgamation? Is it 1967 civil war? Is it the sins of the Nation? Is it GEJ? Is it OBJ? Is it Buhari? Is it Me? grin Is it the Pastors(those in disguise) and the judges? But on a serious Note, is much, what do you think?
In my opinion more death of public officials are to come, the God of our ancestor is finally taken their pound of flesh, and i will not cry for any of them and like the youths in north i celebrate their death. Yes its hard to hear, but that is how i feel. The problem with nigeria is the people we put in power and how they have no ethics or morals, and how our people from a child to a grown adult are morally corrupt. For politicians they perpetuate evil to make sure they stay in power and God always tajes who he wants when their time comes. I am currently in naija and though lagos is changing infra structurally for the better, the youths of our country are corrupt beyond help, even the youngest of them. I am not saying all nigerians are this bad, but it was sad to see a family involved in such acts, let alone using their young children. We have horrible leaders and its filtering into our families.

Just arrived nigeria for xmas vacation friday, and as luck will have it i took air france. While i was at the airport, I left my iphone 4 by a spring coat i bought from one of the shops on our lay over in @ charles de gaulle, I went to use the restroom, told my sister to watch my stuff, but her dumb butt fell asleep, but there was a young black boy sitting by us so i just went to the restroom. When i came back the young man about 10 walked up to me and handed me my phone, wallet and jacket and said my sister had left it and went to board the plane, i was amazed.. and i tried to dash him twenty dollars, but he said he cannot take money from strangers and went to sit back down waiting on his flight back to houston. I was amazed, i told my sis what happened and she said try it in murtala muhammed airport and see if you will get it back. so i took to the dare and when we landed for naija what happened next amazed me. I found a group of family sitting together waiting to be picked up at the airport and went to sit with them while my sister brought our luggage. my sister sits down and i told her, watch and see, i get up, tell my sis to watch my stuff, she pretends to fall asleep, i left my iphone out in the open and my wallet and went to the restroom. When i got back everything was there including my wallet and i didnt open my wallet and just sat down and told my sis, told ya so.. laughing.. until my sister texted me, check your wallet, and so i did. As she tells me through text, one of the kids was a watch out while his elder brother went and sat by my stuff and pretended like he dropped something pushing my stuff on the floor "accidentally." He then called one of the other kids to go under the chair and get his phone he dropped and to my sis surprise the boy picked his brothers phone and also my wallet and went through it taking 400 dollars out of the five hundred i had in there and then took my driver's license and two of my debit cards. My sister said she didnt say anything because she wanted to know if the parents will raise and alarm and tell them to put it back, but to her surprise they didnt, rather the mother started a conversation with my sister about how much nigeria is changing for the better. So when i sat down i picked up my wallet and immediately one of the little boys patted his brother and his brother looked in shock, i looked up at them, my sister texted " call the police," i decided not to, for am sure am not the first they did it to, the older brother started to get up as if to go somewhere and immediately i rose, stood in front of him. I told him to give me all they took all i would call the police and they will all be searched. The older brother looks at me and then the mother comes up to me asking me why i am falsely accusing her children. That i should ask the lady sitting by me that maybe she took them. And that is when i told them that the lady was my elder sis and she saw them, and at that moment the older brother started apologizing saying his little brother brought it to him and told him someone dashed him that he didnt know he stole it. And so i collected my stuff back and my bro came to pick us up. As i left the airport all i could do was shake my head, imagine i almost got robbed in my own country. So

Wizee: Iyanya Mbuk, winner of the 2008 MTN project fame, has been named the sexiest man alive by Red Sheet Magazine.

Recall that the 26-years old kukere crooner made the cover page of the magazine’s December issue alongside Tuface Idibia’s wife, Annie.

In all the photo shots aside the cover, Iyanya strikes his signature pose – shirt off, baring his six pack, eyes staring intently and seductively at the camera.

Do you agree with the magazine’s
verdict?
See Pictures Below.

His friends who don't care about the death of his father are busy pointing at the beer and wine they will drink, and how many they will finish tonite.

I don't see any reason why we should cook, i asked someone and he said to celebrate what he did when he was alive....

i want to ask if it is encouraging to cook and dink at funerals and your reasons
In africa we celebrate the life one has lead if they die old, and in some culture we morn when the person dies very young. We celebrate life.

Romance › Re: White Wedding: Is It Really Necessary?? by mimifonwon(f): 2:44pm On Dec 06, 2012
Holla, Nairalanders!!
Just wanna know, how many of you would prefer, for your wedding, to just waltz into the marriage registry and sign the necessary forms (court marriage) and then host a little party for the family and maybe call a priest (or whatever religious minister floats your boat) to bless the union briefly before the party commences.
Thing is, my cousin did this and had over a few guests in his house, some family, and a priest and that was it. No fancy white wedding, no cutthroat wedding gowns and the associated exorbitant makeuP artist fees, no extravagant reception. Just a few people made the get together special and that was it. He's married for two years now and i've never seen any couple happier.
My question is, does the absence of a flashy white wedding (just after the flashy traditional wedding) diminish the validity of any marriage union??
Thanx.
Personally i dont want to have any white wedding for it is not my tradition, ill get married just the way my ancestors did. This white wedding is european tradition, and its sad that most of us value their traditions above ours. SMH!!!

Lol we can all dream now, am just saying, am attracted to men that show that they have potential to be great and proves it to me in their aspirations and goals- realistic goals-no fantasies. as long as he is educated and has something doing am okay. He doesnt have to be the richest, but can take care of himself, i dont mind helping. I feel that only women with myopic minds and and who are lazy chase after men for their money, for having all money in the world does not guarantee you happiness. I am just attracted to a man who has all i listed before, but nothing melts my heart than a man with a beautiful smile that respects women and a go getter. I dont mind if he doesnt have six packs, but no pot belly,nooo--never, i cannot do, and i cannot date a man that am taller than and M 5'7 without heels and can get to 6'1 in six inch heels. Personally i think a guy that has confidence in himself in everything from style to speech. I mean his whole aura. He doesnt have to be the most handsome guy, but he must be intelligent, respectful, he has to have the grace of a greatman and the suave, maybe in their dreams exude sexiness like lynxxx... Personally i my perfect man if he would be created is lynxxx with the aura of ojukwu and with philosophical mind of wole soyinka . Infact I just want lynxxx..lmaooo, but he is taken sad. But yes nothing is sexier than a man that is respectful of women and also carries in himself very well and when he walks into a room, his presence stops the room. He must be full of aspiration and keep working towards it. He must allow me chance to help him, there is nothing sexier than a man that is willing to let his woman help him. So if you can build me someone with lynxxx's physique and handsomeness, and ojukwu's tenacious spirit and aura and wole soyinka's wisdom them that would be my attraction. I mainly am attracted to their intellect, but i cannot resist a man with a beautiful smile, it would even make me forget that the guy is not 6 feet plus tall. smiley

Jerri: Hello, this question is directed to all foreign trained graduates, who have come home for the National Youth Service,

Question: What decisions have you made for life after your service year, i.e., are you going back abroad or will you rather secure a job here in Nigeria? The reason why I'm asking is this, I'm finding it so difficult making my mind up on staying back and getting a job here though I'm fully aware of the global economy and job situation abroad and of course in Nigeria too. I completed my graduate studies before coming home for my service and have worked for several years with the retail and banking sector in Europe and N. America. I hold a dual citizenship (just in case you wonder what my options are). I just feel I will benefit from other opinions....shoot I feel my brain has been so fired lately!

Thanks for your time.....
personally i would recommend you stay back and get a good job as an expatriate or simply create you own business. I decided to wait till am done with my mba before going back to do my nysc. I wasnt born in nigeria, but i hold dual citizenship cuz of my parents and nigeria is like my second home. Personally having done so many community service hours for graduation during my undergrad in the usa, i dont think i should do youth service, but again i see it as service to the people and not the government. I think its mainly your choice, but i feel if you have made the decision to do youth service, then you should stay and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Just my two cents, plus you will always have better chance of getting a job in naija than a nigerian trained corper. And that is a fact, also depends on what your degree is in. Well good luck.

salam001: Dr Nwaezeigwe is not = Ndigbo, just a confused man
i dont think he is confused, his mom is yoruba and he grew up in yoruba land, he is trying to be objective here but i fault him in doing so and not reading dr achebe's book or even other documents by such people he mentioned like wole soyinka and other international accounts. i believe just like achebe this man has the right to express his opinion, but as a doctor of history i expected him to be well researched to the point that he would know that most of his statements can be disproved.Like i said until wole soyinka, obj and others alive and involved then can write otherwise contrary facts to what achebe wrote, i will take every other suppose writings with a grain of salt.

another thing this so called historian wrote that is an opinion and not fact is this:"In the first instance, the Igbo first lost the golden opportunity to have Chief Awolowo fully on their side when, neither General Ironsi nor Col. Ojukwu failed to see the wisdom in releasing the former from prison custody in Calabar. Chief Obafemi Awolowo had to wait for the six or seven months before he could be released and granted amnesty by General Yakubu Gowon, who subsequently elevated him."

for as many outside international source has noted, ojukwu was the one that facilatated his release. hmmm, am beginning to think that this man needs to tell me whether he bought his degree or just ignorant. it is stupid and career sucidial to comment on a book you havent read, all because you dont agree with achebe.
