OkanlawonB:
Who should then take care of our home people in need of dental care?

Thank God is not everybody that is carried away with the idea of earning pounds Sterling.

Uk brain draining developing countries like Nigeria of their strategic manpower is not a long lasting solution to her constant and aggravating shortage.

Elsewhere on mainland Europe where fast accessibility to healthcare is taken for granted, tertiarry education including medicine and dentistry is free for citizens and foreigners. A good percentage of the students also get non refundable monthly allowances.

But GB is running tertiarry education as a business enterprise hence this selfinsufficiency.
Nigeria should train more dentists and export their skills, increasing remittance to Nigeria.

Cuba that is about half the population of Lagos, is the highest exporter of doctors in the world.

"Cuba, on the other hand, has successfully trained enough medical doctors to accommodate the needs of its own population and to supply healthcare personnel to alleviate the shortage of doctors in other countries. The 25 Cuban medical schools produce an annual average of about 11 000 doctors."

Jman06:
You people readily make this assertion forgetting or not knowing that it is only if the man is willing to accept such child that such scenario is possible, or if the man died immediately after marrying the wife, then the lady maybe asked to stay and bear children for the family especially if the dead husband was the only child. In some cases, if a family loses their male children/child without those children being married or have children, then the family could look for a willing lady, marry her and allow her to birth children with other men.

So, it is not that the woman cheated on her husband and then had a bastard child only for the man to later discover that the child is not his. No man accepts such woman and child in Igbo culture.

So, Kobojonkie and co should take note.
Ask elders in your community, if it has been accepted in history?

Let me rephrase the question for you... which culture in Nigeria openly accepts children an unfaithful wife gave birth to?
There are cultures in Nigeria (you are free to research) where historically, any child born during the marriage the man has paid the bride price, is the man's child......read up and ask questions from elders from different communities.

Travel › Re: What Is With The Inflated Ego Of Nigerians Who Relocate Abroad by Mindlog: 7:16am On Mar 31, 2024
It is not about moving abroad but moving to somewhere with better economic activities.

Even back home in Nigeria, there are some who become haughty towards those they left behind in the poorer neighbuorhood where they once lived in.

I remember as a kid, reading a novel set in the 1960s Nigeria where one of the characters who managed to leave the village in the 50s, to a far away plantation in another part of Nigeria, where men were slaving it out working for their British masters under very harsh conditions.

The guy came home after some years working in the plantation, showing off wearing his white singlets and flashing his battery torch at nights to the astonishment of the villagers who have never seen such as they were used to their local bushlamp all their lives, the guy was arrogance personified. grin cheesy

That I better pass my neighbour mentality is ingrained in some people and would always exhibit irrespective of location and status.

In what culture?

Does it happen it happen in your village?
Let me not even not focus on Nigeria, make I no cause trouble.

Let me cite one example, if you talk to a Kenyan from the Kikuyi tribe (the biggest tribe in Kenya) that if a wife played "away match" born the pikin, you would be shocked by them seeing nothing wrong with that, they would even go ahead to explain to you that the woman did well because if there is an abnormality in the husband's family genes, she has done well with having a child that would not pass down that abnormality....you would be shocked by the high level of education of their folks who see nothing wrong in it 😂😂😂😂

Before you become a clinical psychologist, you go do your PhD, na ppl wey get mind dey study that course..he has to bear that in mind. He'll start working as assistant psychologist first.
I already have my B.A Counselling Psychology, Msc in Clinical Child Psychology and presently on my Doctoral program in Counselling Psychology. Before you become a Clinical Psychologist in the UK, you much achieve DClinPsych (Doctorate in Clinical Psychology) not PhD as they are different pathways.

Getting a Msc Psychology (conversion) puts one on the pathway of getting the Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society and to an extent the Graduate membership of Psychological Society of Ireland, if one so wishes and start out a career as an assistant psychologist in the UK or Ireland, he/she can push forward to work in the field of neurodevelopmental assessments, hospitals, substance and drug addiction (rehab), prisons, schools, residential children home etc.....all these are job opportunities if the passion is there.

Your wife can't "successfully" tell your children things behind you, if you are a fixed reassuring presence in your children' life.

What type of relationship do you think men whose children look forward to their coming home and tell everything to, have with their wife and children?

Advisable to stay in Birmingham though so you can get jobs faster
If he would be studying in Coventry, he would be better off living in Coventry (CV1/CV2 area). When I lived in Coventry, Nigerian students schooling and living in Birmingham were daily coming to Coventry for work (factory/warehouse), moreover it is just £2 bus fare between the 2 cities.

Leave education for the Yorubas who dominate the sector.
If I tell you to name 5 doctors of Igbo origin now, hardly will you be able to name even 4 but I can name 10 Yoruba doctors that any Nigerian can relate with.
The only Igbo doctor I know is that Maduka man from Anambra grin
If we should leave education for the Yorubas, why is Anambra, Imo and Enugu continue to be the top 3 states when it comes to National Common Entrance Exams cut off marks over the years.....remember this is at the foundational level which is more of free flow.
