Govt has made them free to do as they wish, by not making such public examples of where they are caught and prosecuted. If govt were serious about it, it shouldnt any more difficutl for them to nail the killers and send strong signals that such is not tolerated.

Sounds more like spirit of jungle justice. It is really scary how so many people are resorting to crime amid the further worsening of the economy. For each of these ones caught here, there are many more dreaded robbers out there who are roaming free and causing mayhem at will.
I recall, a video/thread here on Nairaland days back where a frustrated young Nigerian man threatened to resort to crime if things continue getting worse and many of us here found it more like a good comic relief, rather than a cause for worry.

Things are getting more complicated as days role by and life in naija things continues to get tougher. Poverty cannot be dissociated from this as general hardship meted by our equally much more callous leaders deepens amid potential for better life, tensions keep rising and waves of crimes keep increasing. That is not to justify the babaric act which THE KILLER MUST BE PUNISHED for, but if things got better, shouldn't we see less of these crimes?

And to cap it all, even more saddening it is to know that the kind of system we run in Nigeria here can guarantee that this murderer, might still be left of the hook at the end of the day, irrespective of all the weak noise we might all be making here.
