Litmus: actually, people keep suggesting less central power and more emphasis on state power but state governors in Nigeria seem overall incompetent as things stand. Perhaps there should be some sort of stipulation in the constitution that enables anyone elected as president of Nigeria to suggests at least three developmental goals that each governor must archive for his state (enshrined in some way ) in additions to the ones the Governor himself wishes to achieve. The bolded is good for a Nigeria where truth reigns. |

Even going as far as saying that they cannot stop the Fulani Herdsmen, because of ECOWAS. When the Fulani Herdsmen are supposed to the Libyans. But Libya is not part of West Africa.
So Buhari stop murdering the South-SOuth & South-East People! if you can't stop the fulanin herdsmen resign for Osinbanjo, he is better.
Whatever, nothing can be done by government on the marauding Killer Herdsmen. Those whom the herdsmen have killed are obviously expendable and the loss of lives to them is a loss Buhari's govt is very ready to accept without bothering. |

Nasiruddeen: The Fulani herdsman is a business man and could never be denied access to grazing fields available to him anywhere in the country to run his business. I see what is happening today as a new dimension to political and ethnic cleansing that if not carefully handled may lead to other big things. The herdsman is a Nigerian his rights must be exercised as a Nigerian, he has right for free movement like everybody else to pursue legitimate business and he cannot be denied access to any part of the country. You lied. The Fulani Killer Herdsmen have no right over the lives of people that they are killing in their very own places of origin and must not have access to lands that do not belong to them, be they in the East, West, South or even North. They must not be seen anywhere with guns, or weapons. They must emulate other Nigerians like the Southerners in the North who conduct themselves in a peaceful manner. |

Will a Fulani man do so ( crying and wailing) if an Igbo, Yoruba, Edo, Efik, Ibibio, etc were to be posing a threat to him in his native state of Sokoto or Katsina? What are your vigilante groups and your "local police" force doing? Why can't your governors come hard on these marauders, just like Fayose did, banning them from his state? . . . . and many said Fayose is crazy. |

Shym3xx: That's human nature for you and greed. And it always counter-productive on the long run. It's how a lot of folks would rather scrounge for meagre handouts - rather than get a job and earn far more, while improving their self-development in the process. Everyone wants to share the oil proceeds from that region and despite sharing it for over four decades at the expense of the owners, the whole country has stagnated for over four decades, with no developments whatsoever, while raising two generations of lazy people/thinkers. So what is the point? If they had done the right thing from the get-go - other places would have found ways to create wealth and the country's economy would be far more diversified right now due to the competitive nature of human beings.
You don't even have to turn every oil producing state into Abuja or maybe even Lagos...just target the oil producing communities in each state and make the host communities sharing their wealth with you happy. Itsekiris in Delta for example can be more than 500,000 in population and they produce a large percentage of the oil and gas in that state...it shouldn't be that difficult to fix that meagre population and their communities. Replicate the same thing in all oil producing communities in all the other states and make them happy. Once you do that - they won't complain that much. I believe those who are even benefiting the most from whatever meagre derivative they are giving them now are people who happen to be from the same state but don't even produce one drop of oil in their communities.
They just need to keep hoping these people don't discover the IRA tactics in guerrilla warfare cos if they ever do, Abuja won't be safe for the naij president. IRA put fear in everyone when they were around with their brazen bombings. They will tell you before hand that they will bomb a place in London and give the time and, the bomb will go off at the time they gave. They bombed everywhere including heavily fortified and protected Mi6 building in Vauxhall and they had to placate them with negotiations and a lot of concessions.
The human right activist that was killed Saro Wiwa's daughter is a contributor on the Guardian UK and I read her articles all the time. And there are crazy documentaries all over YouTube about how messed up those people are, despite feeding the whole country. How these have survived this long with how fbcked up the oil producing communities are, especially the riverine ones - is still a mystery to me. Then again, black people have a natural way of adapting to hardship. Hmm. Most Nigerians hate to see anyone talk like this. They will rather remain detached and are only so brother ed if flow of the oil money is interrupted like the militants are doing now. |

Shym3xx: I never supported their cause when GEJ was the leader for obvious reasons and the fact that he never did anything for his people is one of the reasons why I loathe the guy, apart from how utter useless he was and how he has blood on his hands.
Also, 13% can never be enough for a region the whole country depends on...the percentage has to be far higher than that, ditto capital projects sited in the area. If you can build a new city (Abuja) in the North from ground zero with oil wealth, you should be able to make places where the wealth is coming from a tad decent. That's how it's done everywhere else in the world. However, these scumbags have sense of entitlement to things that don't belong to them, especially the Northerners and that right there is injustice. You can also draw a correlation with the way they're trying to pass some useless land grazing bill through the back-door, by using well orchestrated systematic attacks/carnage to push it through. It's just unacceptable.
Fairness is fairness and injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. They deserve more. Bros, your head dey there. Our selfishness refused to let us put ourselves in their shoes, as most people here are only concerned about having oil loot, sorry oil money from Niger Delta to share across the country. The good of that region is inconsequential. |
