Spain at the 2022 WC was in transition plus they had had two poor back-to-back WC tournaments before 2022. 2014 (Knocked out in first round), 2018 (Unimpressive showing before getting knocked out in second round). Plus in 2022 it was the lottery of penalties after parking the bus that Morocco used to beat Spain.

Belgium was a team in decline so as good value Morocco's victory was it still wasn't prime opposition they beat.

Sorry I can't seriously rate a Morocco who haven't done anything of note since 2022. Losing to SA in the 2023 AFCON in the second round and failing to win a tournament on home soil despite all the attendant ojoro is not the hallmark of a team that can get to the semifinals again of a WC.
baba forget all this thing you dey talk🤣🤣….Spain,Portugal and Belgium are world class teams….decline or no decline, any african team that beat them in a quarterfinal/semifinal match has done a huge lot…..
SA beating Morocco in 2023 does not remove that they are also a big team and one of africa’s current inform teams….Didn’t Benin also beat us?
You want to play and win a team like Spain as an African and you say you wont park the bus, home of tiki taka…issokay

All i know is, you dont need to rate them, but almost a 100% of its football fan will be rooting for them to reach final on home soil….Just wait make SA qualify to round 16 of world cup and see them coming to brag that they will win afcon 2027😂😂….its a general thing with African countries…same thing as us…with our poor showing at 2018 wc, if we had qualified for 2022 and reach the semis im telling you, we would be handing ourselves the trophy of 2030 if we were to b the host🤣

Okay, let me concede that you love the Super Eagles and did not discredit the team, players and the coach

BUT

you are still skirting around the major thrust of my post which is the Grade A coach (best hands) you want appointed as coach of the Super Eagles because you are unconvinced by Eric Chelle who has no Plan B according to you.

So I have some questions for you and I'd appreciate it if you can give direct answers this time.

🔸Who and what is a Grade A coach? Which metrics determine a Grade A coach?
🔸Do you think a Grade A coach will want to coach the Super Eagles given the dysfunctional nature of our football administration?
🔸Do you have any Grade A coach in mind that you'll want to be appointed for the Super Eagles? If YES, who?
🔸Is the Super Eagles having a Grade A coach a guarantee for winning the AFCON 2027 ,& 2028?
🔸Has any Grade A coach managed the Super Eagles in recent years? If Yes, who?
🔸Do you consider Emerse Fae, the Ivory Coast coach to be a Grade A coach?
since 2019 afcon it has been african tutored and trained coaches that has been lifting afcon….all the so called Grade A where are they…we once had Avram grant(former Chelsea,Portsmouth,Westham
,coach) in Afcon, we once had Christ Hughton(former, Newcastle,Nottingham,Birmingham,Norwich,Brighton former coach) how many Afcon them win….in this Africa, you will be shocked that a coach like Finidi can just take up the coaching role of Angolan national team and go win Afcon…everyone go shock🤣🤣

They are not getting to the final in 2030. I can confidently put money on it if I was a betting man.

Morocco doesn't have the midfield or attacking profile to carry them that deep into the tournament plus I think in terms of the best African youth talent diaspora or local they still lag behind Senegal, CIV, and Nigeria.

I think their run at the last WC in 2022 was down to a mixture of luck, tactical astuteness, weakened opposition (Belgim and Spain not at their prime).
we just like to downplay teams and their record here….especially on Nairaland…baba if Super eagles beat Belgium,Spain,Portugual at the world cup, the type of hype will get here will be blown over the roof and out of proportion….now spain is a weakened team, Belgium is a weakened team because no b Nigeria beat them abi🤣🤣….baba Morocco can still bank on their tactical astuteness and still shock the world….dont come and make the opponents they defeated at the last world cup as if they are Botswana and Tanzania….the freaking defeated Spain,Portugal and Belgium…thats a huge one

Hi

Bros komot mind for that thing, the best person to even try and guarantee them that final place is their present Coach,

Not one perceived wannabe, or you think the world up is like AFCON, where they and their fans will do that rubbish they just did, cos they were host??

Finally, do you honestly think others will be coming to fry Panadol for them to go all the way, cos of same Iniesta??
just wait until the 2030 WC draw gives them pathway of teams like Jordan,Azerbaijan,Czech republic, Sweden🤣….but their current coach was a newbie to 2022 the world cup and na? and he got to the semifinals, he was employed in 2022 and reach the semifinals of that sale year world cup….so they are free to carry on that dream to this year’s world cup

Especially how loud mouthed we all are here in Africa….ordinary quarterfinals that period of Ghana, in 2010, their fans were already looking to break into semifinal in 2014

quite a bold claim just because they want to employ someone with no coaching experience or certificate.
thats what they believe they can do according to the article, go back and read it…and yes they are free to live in that delusion, especially after coming close to reaching a world cup final in an arab soil Qatar….as it is now they are the next host, they are free to have that huge dream of winning world cup…same way all of us here would have felt if we had qualified for 2022 WC and reached the semifinal

1994 set should not insult today's Super Eagles. African football is more competitive now than before due to influx of foreign based players.
1994 set really have this strong grace of love from 9ja old fans still going for them….They won Afcon, qualified for 9ja first ever world cup, topped their group having world champions Argentina and reaching the round 16, Nigeria was banned, this action did not give us room to analyze their giant status in africa as they missed 1996 and 1998 afcon(although general thoughts and believe had it that they would have won a back to back afcon if they weren’t banned). They played the atlanta 96 and won the gold medal facing Argentina and Brazil enroute the final. They came back in 98 world cup, top their group that has Spain the European champions and qualified to the round 16…We hosted the 2000 afcon and came second…so to me their playing days was greeted with nation wide love and back to back tournament celebrations…there was not a time to soccer-shame them…so it will be so hard to see their loop-holes.

Now this present super eagles just need to shut these guys up
1. Atleast win one Afcon

2.Atleast qualify to the world cup(which i feel has also eluded them, cos if this DRC case fails,it will mean that 80% of this current super eagles squad will never play at the world cup, cos by then many of them will be in their 30,31,32,33,34yrs and would have been replaced by new boys)
only Iwobi,Awaziem,Uzoho,Ndidi,Iheanacho(though not in the team, but might still make a return)that has experienced world cup fever

3. I wish Nigeria can qualify for the Olympic in 2028, then maybe players like Osimhen,Lookman,Bassey,Frederick,Iwobi can have a look-in, in squad selection of overage players

Omo true true after Oliseh and a large chunk of super eagles retired in 2002/2003….that golden generation spark just left Nigeria senior team football small

The protest won them the trophy
That protest put an end to the poor referee decisions
The referee realized it was serious when Senegal walked off the pitch

I don’t think Nigerian players would’ve had the nerve
Sénégal took the trophy because they’ve got guts,

they weren’t going to leave the stadium without the trophy
Senegal players wouldn’t have left the pitch if their coach had not gingered them….Now same way Super eagles players would have also obeyed Chelle if he waved at them in anger for them to come out of the pitch

We would have easily won the most without Hayatou (1988, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2004)
Then (1984, 1990, 2023)- all finals! (Then 2021 & 2026)- the best team.
Omo Nigeria try oo, we could have easily been out of sight for any African team! What a shame!
Senegal picked up their soccer mojo in the early 2000 and since then they are now trying to catch up with our record
2 Afcon title
3 World cup Appearances(4th appearance this year’s edition)
1 Quarterfinals Appearance and 1 Round 16 appearance…
Honestly we did not use our opportunities when they presented themselves….Our golden generation did not even smell quarterfinal….we really need to stamp further our authority in African soccer heavyweights.
-we need to b qualifying for worldcups
-we need to be advancing to more stiffer stages at the world cup
-we need to win afcon abeg

im tired of all this yeye Ghana,Cameroon,Senegal boasting somethings we are yet to have…our Super eagles of old no try ajeh….we suppose give all this african countries better gap…see Ghana wey qualify to their first ever world cup yesterday, don dey close us on 6world cup appearances…they are currently on 5

Calling it Mane and luck is a discredit to their achievements. Mane alone did not win them their first AFCON or 2nd one. It was a team effort.

Let us just agree to disagree.

I am saying Nigeria could be doing more like the Senegalese FA so that our success is more sustained and not just a flash in the pan.

Naija won AFCON 2013 but failed to qualify for 15 and 17.

This is what I’m alluding to with a competent FA that knows how to manage resources (players being one of them).

Senegal made the 19 final, won again in 21 and again in 25.
Omo Senegal try oo, they would have easily met us on 3 afcon if they had won the 2019 afcon

That Mbuemo tackle was pure penalty. I don't understand way VAR didn't take a look at it.

Pure foul.
Like why are the Ref spoiling the game, them say its not ref but its caf…so why is caf spoiling the game?…is there no VAR?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by minfelix(m): 6:54pm On Jan 19
But why the unnecessary refereeing at afcon?

-Why will a Tanzanian striker be brought down heavily by a Moroccan in the box that way without a card/penalty and everyone should be fine with it?

-Why will an Egyptian handle a ball in the box 18 and no penalty was awarded to SA ?

-Imagine the reckless tackle on Mbeumo in the box 18 and they say its nothing close to penalty

-How can Bassey be dragged on the jersey and still got a yellow card to miss the next match

-How can a Senegalese goal move b canceled because of one yeye 50-50 challenge

-Why the unnecessary towel brouhaha

-Why will a Ghanaian b officiating 9ja match and vice versa, why will a North African rival b officiating a match his country’s arch rival is playing?

And these people want Afcon to run in peace?…they are joking, if they dont curb all this nonsense bias, afcon go dey destroy dey go small small

Thank you... You get what played out there. Situations like that PK miss of yesterday would have been adjudged as match fixing hence the need to put up those theatrics about crying to make it look real.

And a question most people are not even asking is that.. why will Senegal who have abandoned the game all of sudden just decide to come back to continue without the penalty decision been reversed.
one of these may b the reason the Senegalese came out to play
1. Encouragement from Mane after El-Hadji Diof and Claude Le-Roy must have step in to appeal with Mane to go call his player..words from Mane to his players more like: “guys common lets just go and play the game, if them win us no problem, so far we have made out protest loud and clear

2. Or words like: “Guys come out, if we remain here, and the ref signals match abandonment and thereby blowing final whistle, we be in serios trouble and our federation would be heavily punished
(something more like banning Senegal the way Togolese team was banned from caf football after pulling out of Afcon 2010 due to that Angola cabinda terrorist attack on Togo bus claiming lives of a player and coach at Afcon 2010 Angola)

3. OOOOOOOr words like:😂 “guys come out, we have fixed this game, Officials,Morocco coach,Diaz,Mendy and Coaches have agreed to make a light penalty kick for our keeper to catch so the game can fairly continue….
somehow see Mendy going to tell Diaz to play a middle soft panenka🤣

Omo we need to wake up fast and win one more AFCON, likes of Senegal are fast catching up and it will be a shame if they meet us at 3 AFCON titles and even surpass us...AFCONs 27/28 is a must, we have to win one of those editions otherwise we will become a meme narrative of a team that makes the most semi-finals or finals and never win it.
seriously oo…see as CIV just use space of 9yrs win 2afcon to catch us 3….now Senegal has use space of 5years to close up on us…

Chukwueze in Hot Waters for Mocking His Teammates for Being Committed Despite Unpaid Allowances

A video has emerged of an interaction between Super Eagles player, Chukwueze and his teammates ahead of the match against Morocco at the ongoing Nations Cup.

In the viral clip, Chukwueze was seen mocking his teammates, Nwabali and Bassey, for risking their bodies to play despite unpaid allowances and bonuses.

In the clip, Nwabali said, “I never see anything,” and Chukwueze replied: “Una get mind sha o, you haven’t seen your money and you were defending with your life and delaying the time, you even almost inj¥red your knee.”

Many Nigerians are now criticizing him over his statement and linking it to his missed penalty kick during the match against Morocco.

They are claiming the video exposes a lack of respect for teammates’ commitment.
