Maduka Okoye tried yesterday sha. The criticisms are not unwarranted but in some ways they're becoming excessive. Let's not use because of that last shot to wipe out all the goodwill he amassed right before the last couple of seconds.

He just needs to work on his positioning and occasional nervous energy and he's golden.

Daz all.
I wish it was 2-0 before the dye mins shot came..:we wouldn’t even be talking about Okoye…that we beat poland 2-1 would have been the talk of town..
or if that shot was their 1-1 equalizer followed by all his brilliant 1v1 saves made and we later won 2-1….nobody will even remember the shot😅😀….Okoye’s head in super eagles always have him end matches🤣🤣leaving him vulnerable to be torn apart by fans

I respect Nwabali after DRC game. The guy was press resistant. Urging players on with the multitude of Congolese fans shouting down on him in that arena?
Una think it's easy? The guy has proved himself time without number! If not because of Moses Simon silly penalty miss..

Against Morocco, time and again!!
If not because of that Chukwueze miss.

Again for another 120mins with Egypt?

He knows his worth that's why he left SA PSL.
Ajeh we suppose dey on 5afcon trophies like this

Thanks for this honest take, that is that shot can beat any top keeper, and any top keeper can save that too,

Buh the way they all come out yesterday to attack him cos of thatook as if they had been waiting for such to happen so their Agenda go mend
until Okoye give people reason to heal…people will still be suffering from his Tunisia afcon exit outside shot PTSD🤣🤣🤣🤣

I was literally counting down to final whistle while watching that game yesterday 🤣..4mins:49seconds(11seconds) left to play.

Voooooooooooooooooooom🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 net don tear…angry enough the shot came from Oshodi and landed in Lekki🤣🤣🤣 omo its very very annoying…the only person to be picked up for bashing and blame in that moment will be the goalkeeper 🤣🤣

Let's cut Okoye some slack the ball was well struck plus he probably saw it late hence his initial poor positioning.
Yess boss i believe he is learning…and i will really want him to challenge Nwabali…He is young, He is handsome(super eagles poster pride 😀), he plays for a top european team….so i wont totally trash him….Him saving that long range screamer and we eventually winning Poland will just move him higher than Nwabali in the pecking order

If na Okoye do this one. Ieeeh.
Baba after this howler fromNwabali, social media blogger started clamouring for Okoye…the only Issue here is that most Nwabali’s error comes when we are already taking the lead or winning the game or eventually won the game…it makes people forget his error…
Against Rwanda 1-0…Nwabali was doing mumu up and down the pitch but we won the game…if na Okoye we may lose or annoyingly draw that game(Like in the Lesotho match) and all hell will be let loose on Okoye

I don tell una say that guy na Uzoho(2.0)
I dont know how to sugar coat words, I'm blunt.
Right from his first cap against Brazil na that time I know say the guy no too gell.
He has a problem with positioning( watch that corner-kick 6mins into the game) and most of his saves na by luck.
Against Russia, the same lucky feat.
bro i swear u wucked🤣🤣🤣 very very wuckedt🤣🤣🤣
He say most of him save na by luck…anyways my take is i will love him to be in the super eagles mix, an Italian serie A goalkeeper for that matter, omo bro its not easy oo😀😀
But if im to rate ooo Nwabali is a better goalkeeper that Okoye, some say Nwabali is yet to feature against decent European teams, which i agree with but Okoye that featured against African teams at Afcon could only survive in round 16…while Nwabali is backto back afcon semifinalist…i would have said its the “Chelle’s effect” but in 2023 it wasn’t chelle na…Nwabali as a goalkeeper under Eguavoen in afcon 2021 wont stop at round 16…
-Nwabali under Eguavoen (Rwanda 0-0 Nigeria)
-Okoye under Eguavoen (Nigeria 1-2 Rwanda)
Nwabali commands, arranges and shouts on his defense…
since 2002 my top 3 super eagles gk will be
Enyeama
Nwabali
Ejide

- Okoye should pray for luck while in super eagles
- Nwabali should pray for luck of a decent European team signing him

grin I just dey imagine if na Uzoho concede last night, nothing wey we no go hear from all these okoye fans, abeg hypocrites too full for this place.

Why am I not blaming Okoye? It's because he showed up, unlike in Afcon, where he gave excuses. He should be encouraged, but please, all these he's the best because he plays in Serie A should be thrown into the trash can. I know how, during World Cup qualifiers and Afcon, Nwabali was getting bashed left, right and centre even from journalists, thank God Chelle na man, another coach for don drop the keeper. Okoye should use this opportunity to establish himself as the number one for as long as Nwabali is away, and pray he continues to get lucky; if not, he should ask his senior brother Uzoho how far.
I really wish Okoye has that stubborn mentality of Nwabali…this Okoye im seeing na Victor Moses younger brother…with some matchday unluckiness posing at him, that guy fit retire from super eagles at age 27🤣🤣….
Omo Nwabali no send anybody papa ohhh…you people will blame and bash him tire, wen its matchday it wont stop him from making a calm save and sleeping on the ball for 2hours before releasing it back into play ooo….even the Lesotho howler we use bashing finish that guy here in nairaland….The only thing Nwabali does is he always have a way to win back the heart of millions through his penalty heroics…He has a strong mentality….

i read one moniker here saying “If im Okoye i will just retire from super eagles”🤣🤣hahahaha

i read another person replying him saying “If okoye retire nobody go notice am or even feel am”…

you dey wine Nigerian football tray? players and goalkeepers full the tray oo

Very Bias Nairaland thread
Okoye die hard fans= dont blame Okoye for that goal bla bla bla
Uzoho concedes same screamer and they will go blind of how the shot changed in its trajectory and wont even give Uzoho chance to explain him self🤣🤣
If that same long range shot beat Nwabali, just come and see how clamour for Okoye will arise almost immediately 🤣🤣.

I no dey take many die fans serious here again, there most loving player can never do wrong…they dont like to be challenged…..just challenge them and their die hard players and watch them call you hater(agenda must agend🤣)

Person play shot from almost midfield centre line traveling from Oshodi through Lekki and landing inside your net you dey tell me nonsense (trying to now blame Onuachu for giving the player time and space)….na em b say i fit wire hot shot from midfield during training make e beat Okoye b that(Okoye is an amazing keeper but man still has alot to learn abeg

Netherland 1-0 loss to Algeria means morocco moves to 7th place on Fifa ranking…
Portugal 5th - 1763.83
Brazil 6th - 1762.66
Morocco 7th- 1756.94
they are close to breaking our record of best ever african ranked team (5th), just 6.89 points behind Portugal

Let me agree with those saying Nwabali would have saved the long range shot. But could he have also saved the close range chances and the one-on-one with Lewandowski?
this is where blaming Nwabali comes in…people should stop feeling bad when a player is held accountable for a blunder made….not everything agenda or h@ting on a player…its simply the obvious we saw…
left for me im confident in Nwabali,Okoye and Arthur manning our post…doesn’t mean they can’t commit blunders or take a wrong foot

oga if okoye had saved that shot Nwabali would by now be kissing that nomber 1 shirt goodbye…Forget how the polish player played the shot, topnotch savers will save that ball…
Ball wasn’t deflected oo, the was coming straight at him…he simply did not position him self to punch that shot away….that was a punchable saving shot…the ball beating Okoye made the polish goal look like one extraordinary goal
