Games like yesterday is where we needed the individual brilliance of Lookman…just cut in and wipe shot..forget teamwork abeg

That is what I meant about crumbling. 4 key examples in the past 4 years.

2022 WCQ - Just needed to beat Ghana 2-1 at home. Managed a toothless 1-1 draw and lost on away goals.

2023 AFCON final - See out a 1-0 lead against CIV. We regressed and played our worst match that tourney.

2026 WCQ Playoff - We were outplayed for 120 mins but still didn’t have the composure to convert our kick.

2025 AFCON SF - Played our worst football of the tournament after looking like the team to beat up till the QFs. Again, no composure to convert our kicks.

There’s a mentality issue we have to address.

17 semi-finals, 8 final appearances, 3 titles. Not good enough, simple.
i agree we didn’t play well, but this your “worst football” dey sound like Morocco played us the way we played Algeria and Mozambique

Osimhen, Akor and Lookman should have played those Pks

And we need to learn to shoot from outside the 18
That's one area I'm not too happy with Osimhen for
one of these guys will score after that Morocco miss to give us a 2-1 advantage

Chuks is one of our most experienced players that’s the issue!

If Fisayo could convert what was chuks problem. These are the little moments that matter! It changes everything
Exactly….just hit middle shot like Ekong…like just target that middle with heavy shot

After Onuachu scored, walai na Bassey or Simon for step up next..PTSD no gree those baba come front..
Penalty is any man’s game ooo….but these guys will likely 95% convert their pks for us to win this game…
Lookman
Osimhen
Bashiru
Akor
Onuachu

Morocco coach knew why he left one of Hakimi and Diaz….you cant just yank off senior men when you know pk is nearing…..

imagine the last afcon pk against SA
1. Terem Moffi scored/Mokoena missed (1-0)

2. Omeruo scored(infact almost same style with chuks pk)/Mayambela scored 2-1)

Aina missed(same type of Bassey miss against DRC)/ Magkopa missed (2-1)

3. Ekong scored/Mvala scored (3-2)

4. Iheanacho scored (4-2)

pls let’s not blame chuks that much…same way Omeruo scored his PK against SA was same way chukwu was gonna score his own if Bono had gone the wrong way..

The blame goes to Chelle,I was expecting him to remove Onyedika on time and replace him with Bashiru or Nnadi and introduce more adventurous players like Ejuke and Chukwueze since the game plan was not working
Bros oo, make i drop this for you…if you like bring in
Bashiru, Nnadi, and introduce Ejuke,Chuks, the game plan will not still work out nothing go happen at all at all ajeh, th ose guys you call are not big game changers..…Morocco have seen from our previous games that you dont give super eagles space to enjoy themselves else they will punish you…Morocco sat back yesterday whenever we try to build from the back…they also choked our wing plays…Chuks and Ejuke will just be reduce to school boys performers…a serious senior man game changer is what we needed that yesterday…player in shape of Okocha, that will take ball upon him self and try to dribble from the midfield to locate wingers and strikers

Oga you're too theoretical when it comes to analysis, you don't normally face reality and you're always trying to tell us what to do in a situation when we cannot not do anything.... yesterday game was too obvious that we just need to soak Morocco pressures which we did for 120 minutes, common man Morocco defeated Portugal and Spain to reached World Cup semi final,do you think it was lucky, forget stories, they're the best in Africa, they play good football
i will keep saying, some of the OG’s here on nairaland are losing their post-match analytic credibility….Cameroon suffered a 2-0 loss for not learning that “you dont play morocco pressure for pressure….you calm d game down and slowly build up pass from the back…to me oo, we played them the best football, i knew we were gonna lose in the pk shootout….our boys are not penalty material….but the way we played morocco yesterday,a top team! is just the best way to play them….this is exactly how they played Portugal and spain at the last world cup…and that was Exactly how Italy lifted the 2006 world cup…France tried to build with calm and collected passed but italy was always sitting back to wait for moments of ghen ghen pressure…such games lead to pk or a 1-0 win

sit back, allow your team to build the pass from their defense, then come out and “ghen-ghen press them” then quickly go back again and defend waiting for same cycle to keep reoccurring…these kinda game only lead to penalty shoot out or a 1-0 winner

no b wetin dem use jah spain b that for world cup? no b pk?

These people are funny
How do you crumble technically and somehow manage not to concede
We crumble technically yet Morocco no see goal score, not even a clear cut chance..
Funny lots looking for who or what to blame as usual
bro majority of 9ja fans no sabi calm down to analyse match…..This super eagles didnot crumble to
morocco at aaaaaalllll….people no wan still gree say 2025 Morocco is a beast of a soccer nation…plus dem come b host🤣🤣.
even our golden generation dey chop 5-1 against host in 1990 afcon…go and research how our super eagles of old fared against host…the only knockout stage we beat host na senegal 92 for pk shootout…when Senegal were still “underdogs” trying to gain their feet in africa…powerhouse hosts those years dey beat us like tiff
1976 host morocco flog us 2-1
1990 host flog us 5-1 for group stage still flog us 1-0 final

We just need to retain Eric Chelle, let him keep helping us sweep baby african teams…we just need to be qualifying for world cup and afcon tournaments abeg….

You’re very right, I think when we start meeting tougher nations back to back we Dey crumble!

Honestly once the game entered extra time I was no longer interested in the final cos if we had won we won’t have been able to win the final as our players will be fatigued against an in-form Senegal. I preferred we bow out in the semi final than having another heartbreak in the final. Once we couldn’t do the business in 90 mins I knew we were done. Check out back in 2013 We did the quarters, semi and finals in 90 mins.
Gbam thats it bro..

No be lie o Morocco semi final finish at the last World Cup was no fluke just that they don’t need bad officiating to win fairly but dem no care.

Our boys did give good account of themselves based on that I mean we played the number one ranked team in Africa and they couldn’t beat us in 120 mins that’s something great to cheer about sha
see ehnn this Eric Chelle will hardly loose to a team beneath him like Finidi,Jpes, Eguavoen and Roh did…And that is what we need in super eagles to qualify for tournaments…beat baby teams and qualify for tournaments and go struggle it out with superior teams

Yup, not sure it's a coaching issue at this point..we just lack the players with the elite mentality like the Senegals etc when it matters the most at the most crucial stage.

It's psychologically gutting to lose out on a world cup final playoff on PKs after demolishing Benin republic and Gabon...

And then this after all that show against Algeria, these boys can't scam me anymore. Hats off to them for trying, but this is it...it's time to rebuild with younger players like we saw Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Senegal etc do at this tournament, Ademola, Osimhen etc aren't winning shit, they are a generation comparable to Belgiums own.

17 semifinals, 8 finals and ONLY 3 AFCONs is a very diabolical return, the type that makes you question if we are truly cursed?
This isn't a coaching issue anymore, even prime Pep Guardiola can't save this bunch.
Trust me you are not being scammed, we can’t dismantle two North African teams and you wont wana put faith in the guys…this is just a matter of team pass team….it shows why we are not number 1 on africa…maybe 3rd best is our real position…keeping faith in them is actually justified especially winning 5straight games with heavy scorelines…imagine starting the worldcup qualifiers with 5wins and a draw, its more like winning all the first 5matches and drawing the 6th, thats a whooping 16points…ajeh dis afcon no pain me at all…na world cup pain me…this team is a world cup team…qualified to play at the world cup quarterfinals

Waiting concern Bruno conern penalty. Chelle choice of penalty takers is killing us. After the full time. You next line of action as a coach you are start preparing for penalty. Attackers are usually the best penalty takers. I don't know if oshimen is injured. Oshimen left the pitch second half of extra time, when the game is almost finish, why not leave him for him to take one of the penalty.
im telling you broooo🔥…there are some players u will see going up to take the penalty and you know they have the chance to convert it.
After Morocco lost their first, a more prolific striker should have come in to boost our chance, Osimhen is still having PTSD on penalty matters, but its likely Osimhen converts his own after that Morocco loss…e jus b like bringing up Ekong after the opponent miss, baba no get time, he will enusre he scores his own.
Onuachu scored his own
Bring up another fearless…Bassey and Ajayi lost against DRC, but i will prefer to use them again…they will surely convert…but you see this PTSD of a thing is really a demon 😅😅, all are scared not to come and lose for a second time after that DRC experience…but 9ja penalty history is not like that..im sure all those who lost against DRC would have converted theirs yesterday…people like Simon,Bassey will be more aware….
Yobo scored in 2004 penalty shootout and lost in 2006 penalty shootout
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by minfelix(m): 7:57am On Jan 15
out of the 3 afcons we have 2 were against lowly rated rivals(Zambia and Burkina Faso) the other one in 1980, we won as the host.

im beginning to see that super eagles cant measure up in final/semifinal when they meet a fellow african power house in a back to back, either they win 1 and jah in the next stage
Mali 2002 (senegal comot us for semifinal)
Tunisia 2004 (Tunisia comot us for semifinal after beating Cameroon in quarterfinals)
Egypt 2006 (CIV comot us for semifinal after beating Tunisia in quarterfinals)
Ghana 2008(Ghana jah us for quarterfinals)
Angola 2010 (Ghana jah us for semifinal)
SA 2013 (we met Mali and Burkina faso enroute winning the cup)
Egypt 2019(Algeria jah us for semifinal)
2021 (Tunisia jah us for round 16)
2023 (we played Angola,Cameroon,SA and CIV remove us)

omo seeing the way powerhouse nations lined up from quarterfinals to the final, i was just having some scary feelings….make super eagles beat powerhouse back to back to back ? aaah omo e go hard in this era oo

I foretold of how a better coach will cage Iwobi. I didn't say sub iwobi or don't play iwbi but when they cage him, have a pla.n for another CM to take up the responsibility of moving the ball forward, even if the person is box-to-box..

They said Onyedika is it
