[quote author=tchiwinnie post=34077177]It has nothing to do wt hot water biko. Does she have any level of control at all or does it just wobble freely?

Yes, she has some level of control. But not 100%

Varies. but at most by 3months. Some attain control arnd 10wks, some earlier. 8-12wks s within normal.
My daughter's neck is not yet firm and she was 3 months yesterday. A friend said is because I don't press her neck with hot water. Biko, is it true? What can I do to make it firm?

My babies never take water though till 6 months, even when on formula

I believe water fills their tummy and reduces their nutrients intake
I was told "not giving water after formula can cause constipation". The water comes after feed, so there's no way it will reduce their nutrients intake.

Thanks ma,was worried because my SIL said it should be 3months but i dont believe her although she hasnt nursed a baby before.
Not true jare. That was how my MIL said it wasn't normal and made me pay to see a paediatrician, only for the paed to call me JJC and said its very normal. That she'd have been worried assuming it wasn't there. She also said it will pass b4 18 months.

Gud evening mamas in house..pls I realy need una advice, my 1 year nine month old baby is having measeals and people recommened seven keys herbal mixture for him..hv bought but am having second thoughts, pls has anyone used it before
Don't take people's recommendations when it has to do with medication, except they are doctors. Your child's doctor Is the best and most qualified person to Prescribe drugs when necessary.
Self or online medication can be very harmful. Biko doctors in the house answer her or better still refer her to her doctor. Measles is not something to joke with.

Pls I may ask, how do you know his gums are scratching him @ 2 months?
My 2 months old is also experiencing same. She uses her hand to scratch her gum. At first I thought she wanted to suck her hand but a closer look, I noticed she was fiddling with her gum. Also, when I carry her on my shoulder, she'd be turning her neck left to right with her open mouth on my shoulder.

Pls Mamas, how often should a newborn bathe in a daay, wanna get it right abeg. Thanks as I await your response.
Our mothers believe twice is ideal. Please don't argue with her. I allowed it cos it makes my baby sleep better and longer.

Thanks. Its sheabutter I use for her o
Please someone tell me how do u prevent ppl frm touching baby's face. Some go to d extent of even kissing baby. Why wld u be kissing baby like that when you are not family.
I jokingly tell them not to kiss my baby. Same thing with touching the cheeks. Kissing a baby can give the baby cough sef. There's a friend I even went as far as telling not to kiss my baby with that same mouth she used in kissing her boyfriend and we laughed it off but av jokingly passed a message across.

Am not sure about that though after delivery my doctor gave me ferrous, B Co and vitamin c to be taking. I suggest you ask your doctor, at least he'd be able to recommend a good multi vitamin for you

Cod liver oil is not compulsory, if your baby is taking a balanced diet. But if you notice her legs are getting bowed, it means she needs Vit D...so you can give her the cod liver oil.
My baby is also taking it. My elder sis recommended it but she didn't say it's for Vit D. She just told me that consistent use of it will make my baby's skin glow.

I don't have answers to all your questions. But for Ela, mix baby tribotan or mycoten cream (basically any clotrimazole or fungal cream) with ori (cos the baby's skin is still very tender and these creams are said to be too strong for them) and apply on it consistently. It should go soonest.
What if the Ela is only on the hair line?

my dear sis I even pump enof into his feeder but still not enof is enfamil very good for his age?or wat other formular can I give and can I give water
Enfamil is the closest formula to mature breast milk though it's expensive. There are less expensive ones like SMA and Nan 1, it depends on the one your baby will accept. My daughter is 2 months and she's enjoying Enfamil even though she still comes to my bust after taking 2 oz of enfamil. Mae sure your lo takes water after the formula to avoid constipation.

Mama's goodmorning my LO will be a month on sunday and it seems the BM isn't enof for him,i even put in feeder for him still he wants more pls what can I do?my mum said to introduce water and sma or nan1 but hubby said its too early make una tell me what to do O FTM
It's not too early. I know a baby that has been taking formula (Enfamil) from birth. There's no harm in supplementing with formula since your LO eats a lot. Except your hubby wants lo to starve.
But are you lactating well? It's possible your lo isn't getting enough BM

hello mamas in house, pls I want to know if anyone has given her lo bitter kola added in water for stomach ache.does it work? my boy is 8 weeks n seriously having ds stomach ache.pls tell me wat u gave.thanks
I refused to try the bitter kola but I tried infacol, gripe water and Nospamin but non worked. The stomach pain eventually passed with time. Cuddling worked for me sha, my lo was always sleeping on my tommy. It wasn't comfortable but that was the only way I could soothe her, so I can also sleep. It's not easy oh, at times I cried with her.

3:1 is not bad esp if they have a supervisor. The professional ones are easier to find on the island (I think) cuz when I was looking I saw a lot of 2:1, I even saw some 1:1 and I can't remember seeing anyone that did not have cctv
I will have to go back and check the cctv. Thanks so much

I think 2 nannies looking after 6 children is just fine. Hope d place is clean?
Thanks, The place is very clean and the kids I saw there looked very happy and relaxed. Though they seem to be too attached to the nannies. The response I got to that was that they've been with them since they were 3 months hence the attachment.

hence i always look for "professionally"creche, if its not one nanny to two children...NO No for me

for me trust is relative, if i cant leave a nanny with my AtM and pin and trust she wont defraud me, i will NEVER leave her alone with my child, because my child is more precious than my bank balance..
I went to 5 different creche in Ikeja yesterday and I didn't see any with 1 nanny to 2 children. The closest I got was 1 nanny to 3 children and there were only 6 children in the creche with 2 nannies. However, i was told they were expecting 3 more infants aged 3 months, while mine will make them 4. When I asked how they'd do it with just the two nannies I saw there, the proprietress replied that she'd hire more hands.

Pls mamas,

You know I have been complaining about my baby not eating well.
So yesterday traveled to my village, he didn't suck BM through out the journey. At night, he didn't suck. If I try to give him, he will start shouting and stretching.

Even this morning, he refused to collect. I was asked to pump it to his feeder, mehn, no milk came out in 1 breeast, I tried the other, just little quantity.
It's over 24 hours since he sucked last yet my breeast is not heavy and is not even paining.

Solution please. Thanks
It's obvious you are not lactating well. Take hot pap, it will really help.

Some people are naturally wicked and lazy to do their job.

I teach in a school that has creche though mostly teachers' babies. My baby cried hell for almost two months that I nearly resigned.

When they see you coming, they must look for 1 excuse to tell you. Like na now now e chop finish, I wan go wash e feeder.
I choose not to be angry because my baby too na cry cry.
For my second baby by God's Grace I won't work till she/he is 9 months except I have got a better paying job. But with this teaching job, God forbid I resume after six weeks.
Hmmmmm. God help us in this journey.

If you can get a trusted nanny, it's better.

In creche where they have many babies, your baby won't be taken care of properly especially if she is the cry cry type, they will just abandon her to cry.
That is why you shouldn't enrol your child in a creche with many babies and few hands in charge. I don't think a good creche will "abandon" a baby to cry. When they know the parents can walk in at any time or even their coordinator.

Depends on what's important to you. Mine was:

Ratio of nanny to babies (not more than 2:1 for babies under one or 3:1 for babies above 1)
CCTV monitoring
A coordinator / proprietress on ground
Schedule
Log book - tell me how many times my baby ate and what quantity, how many diaper change - wet and poop
Ok thanks. Quite enlightening.

Has anyone used tommee tippee insulated twin bottle carrier (food warmer)? Please explain how it works. The water content that came with it is confusing me. I read the leaflet and it says "to use as a hot pack: boil water and remove from heat. Place the bag in hot water for 5 minutes. Allow to cool prior to reheating." Who understands please?
