She's 1 year now. At 8 months, i was giving pap. I started birds custard at 9 months when she got tired of pap but noticed dd wasnt enjoying birds custard so i got hollandia vanilla custard, that's what we're still using though i swap the flavours (vanilla, banana, strawberry).
Some people don't recommend custard that early with the reason that there's colouring in it. But, i have friends who started it at 6 months and i'm yet to see any harm.

My daughter is 1 year 4months and I have been having problems with her eating habit.
Can someone please suggest to me what I can be feeding her.She exclusively breastfed and up till now she still breast feeds and has totally refused to take cereals, milk or anything. She only wants to be breast fed. nothing more. she takes bits of rice and amala with ewedu. no milk whatsoever.
How do I stop her from breastfeeding and for her to take milk and eat other solid food.
I need a guide.

Try pap, custard, yoghurt, tea (milk and milo) then later you dip bread into the tea and feed her.

Make sure she's very hungry before you offer any of this. If you were feeding her every 3 hours, add an extra 30 mins then offer her any of this. I'm yet to see a baby that refuses yoghurt. But make sure you get a flavour she'd love.
The trick is to keep trying, cajole her, sing and even dance - she'd certainly accept.

Raw eggs? A baby that age is supposed to only take well cooked egg yoke for now. I don't take every advise given, i sieve em and choose the pleasant ones. Even you may vomit while feeding LO that mixture.

I remember when my girl didnt poo for 2 weeks, then she was 2 months old. The woman that cleans my house suggested i boil water leaf and give her the water to drink - I told her ok, but i never did it cos it sounded absurd to me. Instead, i took dd to the hospital and the nurses laughed at me and called me JJC. They even refused booking us to see the pediatrician but i insisted, as the nurse carried my dd to check her weight - she pooed straight on the weighing machine. Come see me looking stupid but relieved!

Dont take every advise.

Please while buying baby food in cartons, it's of utmost importance to be mindful of expiry date. Also, a baby can get tired very often with a particular food. My solution to that was; since i can afford a carton of cereal at once, why not i spread that money into varieties of cereals then after each trial (3 days maximum) with a successful acceptance and tolerance - then i add that to my dd list of food. Thereafter, i schedule her meals to creche e.g Monday: Vanilla custard, frisogold rice and cerelac 3 cereals. Tues: Strawberry custard, Gerber rice and nutriben 8 cereals and 4 fruits. Wed: Banana custard, Gerber oatmeal, cerelac rice and Gerber yogurt. And it continues like this, my baby doesnt eat same food in 3 days. Please note that before i started this, i had a very serious challenge with her feeding - i used to force her to take just 2 scoops of cereal and she'd refuse. Infact, meal time in the house was messy. But, immediately i introduced this method - which a dear boss in my office gave me - things changed. Now, she can take as much as 8-10 scoops of cereal with no stress.

You will find at Poise shop in Ikeja shopping mall, and D' Prince supermarket Isheri though i havent bought from them so cant say if its original. I bought once from a shop in surulere and discovered it was fake, i just dumped it at home and sent my younger bro to buy from Uyo. Thats where i get mine.

I guess its your location, cos similac is every around me. It's enfamil thats even a scarce commodity. Since you can afford similac, then check for enfamil, aptamil or SMA gold. My baby didnt accept nan1 but she accepted enfamil. well done.

Oh yes you're right.I actually thought it was yogurt cos it has a sour taste to it.Thanks for the correction.The ones I buy has expiry date of July and October 2016.

Oh really? i'd keep checking for the ones with extended expiry date. My daughter loves the yoghurt blend, she doesnt take the purees no matter how i force her. To make her take fruits, i just puree a particular fruit and add to her cereal. That way she doesnt notice.

Mamas, i hope i'm on the right track? i started giving my dd tea (toddler milk and milo) and she's taking it so well. She clocked 1 few days ago.

This is not gerber yogurt. Its gerber fruit puree.
Please see image attached.
Gerber yogurt has 4 different fruit flavours and one for sitter and the other blend for toddlers.

its 4 in a pack and its sold for 1,300 though i've seen it at 1500 in some shops.
I stopped buying it in February when i noticed all the gerber yoghurt blend snacks in shops will expire in March.
I'm yet to see one with an extended date, so please be mindful of that when buying.

It requires patience!!!
Allow her to get very hungry, then try the food. Soya maize and pap arent so sweet, it's milk that gives them better taste. Put milk and keep trying, after some time she will accept.
As for the cereal, try rice cereals. At 6 months, my daughter didnt accept gerber rice but when i tried cerelac rice and milk for 6months - she ate it well and wanted more. Try different ones and don't give up after first trial. At this age, they want the smoothest and sweetest cereal. My daughter vomited soya maize several times before accepting it. So keep trying and please give water after each feed to avoid constipation. Well done!

Good day mamas. Pls for mamas using Huggies DIAPERS, What is the difference between Little swadlers, Little Movers, Snug and Dry ...e.t.c. Also, there's one called Ultra, and the Other just Huggies....pls I dont just get it. need to buy but am so confused. And pls, if you have an idea of how much it is now I'll appreciate. I won't mind pictures too. Kindly help a ftm.

They all have different quality and countries hence different prices. The "just huggies" is south African product and it's the cheapest but very good. In all I prefer snug and dry, ir has a cotton feel inside but it's pricey.

Am told powder is not good for babies.i will advise u use baby tribotan instead of thr powder.

i use powder for my girl, i dont pour it directly from the bottle - i pour into my palms and use my hand to soothe the powder on her skin.
I use Agnesia for her rashes. Agnesia has plenty fake, i buy from pharmacy.

My opinion and I stand corrected
Huggies snug and dry is good but expensive.
South Africa huggies is good and affordable.
My friend uses Nigerian pampers and she keeps testifying of how good it is. She tried dry love diaper before Nigerian pampers and complained it sagged after her son peed once in it.
Assuming my DD didn't receive lots of huggies as gift, I'd have tried nigerian pampers.
You just look at what you can afford, diaper use is not a thing of class, no one will open babY's bum to see the type he/she is wearing.

I've tried a teaspoon or less of raw pap for my children and unbelievably it worked. Again that's just my own method sha.
I am also aware that stooling is a viral condition and will mostly just have to run its course! Do ensure the child is well hydrated keep giving lots and lots of fluids and use nappy cream to prevent a rash.

Good afternoon sabi mums in the house. Please help o, my LO clocked one year on d 30th Jan, although she eats very well buh she has absolutely refused to take cereal or pap from her bowl. She will only accept it if I use her feeding bottle. Also, she prefers to eat with me, if I try to dish her food separately, she won't accept it after one or two spoons. She's walking already, she's healthy, meeting milestones, etc.

She wan eat amala and ewedu ni? Have you tried noodles? (i know some mamas dont support that but i give my dd noodles with blended titus fish). Try other food, maybe she's tired of pap and cereal.

No be real braiding ooo, just all dose puff puff tying of the hair. My baby is almost 3months and 3weeks .

It depends on how full the hair is. i started at 3 months cos my DD hair was too full and thick, she cries when i comb it. So i make the puff puff at night when she's asleep. Make sure the puff is very loose and dont use those colourful rubber, use the small colourful elastic ribbon, i think is sold for 150 naira a pack.

You have to apply patience oh. Babies dont easily accept formulas no matter the brand, especially when they can differentiate the sweetness of breastmilk to formula. It can take a month or more for some babies to fully accept it, so just keep trying. Persistence is the key here. Well done!

I was coming to rant before sef: some people can like to annoy someone, that was how the woman I buy things from was asking me if my 8 months old son has started walking. I said "no", she and her husband was now saying " he ought to has started now, our daughter walked at 7 months". I just gave them the "'shoro niyen' look, collected my spray starch and zoomed off. Hope you didnt take it out on your son because my 11 months old is yet to walk on her own, she's still holding things to walk. So chill, all babies are different and very unique.

Sabi mamas help me out here please at our six weeks immunization my mum refused my son from being giving the PCV1 and ROTAVIRUS1 vaccines which are called "specials" and cost 7500 and 9500 respectively! We only took the penta which cost 250 naira!

Her reason was that they were unnecessary! And the nurses too didn't say much or try to convince me to allow my son take it.
I also observed some other mother's too that their LOs didn't receive the vaccinne!
Next Wednesday is our 10weeks rounds and I want to give my son the PCV2 and ROTAVIRUS2 should I or shouldn't I?
I googled it and saw that its a combo vaccine that protects a child against a number of diseases and I feel so bad that I didn't allow my son take its first dose. Will it still be effective since we missed the initial dosage?
And does it cost that much everywhere or is my hospitals price inflated? Please help a confused mum out please.

Please and Please go back and give your baby the vaccines. Prevention is better than cure. Do everything that will keep you and your baby from sleeping in the hospital. Except you dont mind crying your eyes out when they'll be sucking baby's blood for different test like vampires.
