MiracleMum, my LO is 5mnths and 2weeks ,she takes cow and gate egg custard and to d best of my knowledge, u do not need to add water, for u to be sure, visit their website and see d preparation instructions, u only need to put whatever amount u know ur LO can finish at a go into the bottle, place it in warm water to heat it up and feed ur LO,i use a bowl n spoon though.my LO finishes a bottle at a go so I usually do not need to refrigerate
As for the strawberry n banana porridge, I do two scoops with one scoop of her formula,i.e similac. So depending on how much ur LO can finish at a go,use that ratio.Use the enfamil scoop to measure the cereal,if u have an empty can, just pour d cereal inside to make it easier, Hope u understand my little explanation, find attached if it's d same cow n gate Ure talking bout
Thanks so much dear. It's the same cow and gate. If water is not added, won't it be thick - I would prefer bottle feeding.

Senior Beedam, Kindly explain again how to prepare cow and gate egg custard for my LO.
I remembered you said put half in feeding bottle and refrigerate the other half. add warm water and bottle feed.
Please put me through. thank you.
Also, is anyone using cow and gate strawberry and banana porridge (4-6months) with enfamil? or Gerber oatmeal with enfamil? i want to know the ratio of measurement please. Thanks

Thanks. Pls how do u do the steaming? I don't mind using Eucalyptus oil.

Sudocreme is for diaper cream. not catahrr
Get hot water in a bucket, place in the bathroom - put a drop of Eucalyptus oil then allow the steam to fill the air of the enclosed bathroom while you sit with baby there. Some people use a blanket to cover mother and Child/bucket but I didn't do that cos I didn't want my daughter to inhale it directly. ( I didn't use the water to bathe her, my friend tried that and it reacted on her baby's skin).

@MiracleMum, please what type of tummy trimmer did you use? Is it the post partum belt or waist cincher and did you wear it all day?

I had my baby 5 weeks ago (vaginal birth), though my stomach has gone down, its not as flat as I want it to be. Thanks in advance.
Not sure is any of those mentioned. It's like a high waist tight with 2 small/soft metal in front and back.
It didn't just happen over night oh, my baby is almost 5 months.

I feel no more pain too, dunno what I can do about my tummy tho, still a little big
I used tummy trimmer to get the desired result. That was after I had taken enough Uda and uziza soup, and drinking hot water. I just started drinking normal/cold water now. That's 4 months after delivery.

pls o . I need answers to my previous question about how to handle catarrh or blocked nostrils of my baby o.

n pls mamas living in ado where can I get original sudocreme. bought one at oja but Na fake of d highest order. d thing pain me o... #1500 down d drain
Have you tried steaming? I do it with a drop of Eucalyptus oil though some people think eucalyptus oil is too harsh for new born. If you are in that school of thought then use only hot water. My hubby was also sucking DD nose with his mouth cos I couldn't do it. That helped to relieve her.
What are you using the sudocrem for? Catarrh?

My friends dont even know i had CS cos my tummy is even flatter than before. (Mine is a vertical cut sha, from the navel down just before my pubic hair).

thanks ma. i will cheek for it in the market. what's the cost?
The size determines the price. I'm not too sure but it's like I got the big size for 2500 and the medium for 1200.

hello mummies in the house. This is ma first post coz I'm kp6yet to deliver. plz which hot water flaks can i buy for ma lo? the name will be helpful coz most of the sellers claim what they have is the best. ftm
Haers flask is very good, keeps water hot for me 2 days. They have two types, stainless and the other they call vacuum bottle. I use the vacuum bottle and it's serving me well.

Please mama could you share the tips your paed gave you for air travel?. I will be going on vacay with the family very soon and I'm particularly worried about my LO's eardrums as per cabin pressure. cry
sayoberry:
Traveled with my twins when they were four weeks. About 18 hours journey. When the plane is about to take off, make sure u start breastfeeding or at least he sucks on something. And constantly feed him. Request for a bassinet on the plane, or before u travel.
Depending on the airline, some planes give pregnant women and women with babies extra care. Like u get to eat 'extra' snacks, extra water etc. always ask for them.
When u re about to land too. Feed your baby.
Mine dint even fuss one bit.

And carry about 20 diaper and loads of wipes and ur babys food (if he's eating already), napkins, etc
To add to what Sayoberry already listed. I will try to summarize the ones I can recall.
She discouraged air travel shortly after I delivered because I wanted to make the trip earlier than 6weeks. Her reason was that newborns have developing immune systems and that air travel might increase a baby’s risk of catching an infectious disease, so she insisted my baby must be up to date in the necessary vaccines.
Next, she talked about changing cabin pressure during a flight causes temporary changes in middle ear pressure, which can trigger ear pain. She said to help equalize the pressure in my baby’s ears, I should breastfeed or let her suck a bottle or pacifier during takeoff and landing. (she warned that I shouldnt overfeed my baby mid-air because bloated tummy may cause pain and crying)
She also said thank God my baby wasn’t premature because there's a special flying safety tip for them that has to do with their respiratory system.
She advised I wear my baby warm clothing, with cap, mitten and socks. Not forgetting a good blanket for the baby to keep warm.
And to keep change of clothes handy.
we cannot over-emphasize the Carrying of plenty diapers and wipes, it is very important.

He wld hv taken just bcg, penta1 and OPV.Shld he wait till he s fuly immunized? I really dont see d journey as harmful at all, but u cld share ur reservations lets learn.
**smiles**
Bossladymo1 elucidated extensively on that.
I travelled at 6 weeks with my LO (by air) but her paed insisted she takes the necessary immunization and also gave me some very useful safety tips which i couldnt have gotten from the internet . It's just possible that this baby is yet to be immunized since the mum is having emotional issues.
I strongly believe she can have another option which may not be too convenient compared to the long trip.

for mamas that use this red acalypha leaves to bath their babies. how do u do it? do u boil d leaves anytime u want to bath n use d entire water to bath d baby?

what I do is boil a large qty n keep use it for abt two days. I mix the leaves water with his bathing water. I'm wondering if its working as well as it should maybe I have to boil daily n use the entire pot of water to bath him at once.

thanks
i guess you are using the leaves for Elaa, my friend was using the whole pot to bath her son but noticed it was leaving a particular odour on her DS and was also leaving reddish stains on the towel and every thing she used to bath him. So she started boiling the leaves every morning. Then take out some quantity to mix with clear water while she uses the remaining (leaves) water at night. she did this continuously for two weeks before the Elaa cleared.

I disagree completely from the research Iv done online. The answer is still yes. You can advice her without joining issues with others that have contrary stance

@mrs2u if you chose to go ahead, wear the baby a full body suit and make sure he/ she is well covered with a shawl. Plan ahead and make sure you have all the things you need. You can check online, lots of tips there

All the best whatever you decide
you disagree completely with me, that isnt joining issues with others that have contrary stance.

Air is even worse because of the pressure of the cabin. So what's wrong with road travel? Pls enlighten me

P.s the America analogy was with respect to long distance which I assume her concerns was really about
Nobody said any fin was wrong with road travel. She wants to know if travelling by road to Ghana with a 6 week old baby is safe and you said yes she can, that women who go to America to deliver travel at 5 weeks.
That is by air biko.
The pressure of the cabin can't be compared to the dangers and stress that baby will be exposed to if taken by road, especially if the baby is yet to be immunised.
An adult who travels by road develops body ache, talk less of a neonate.

Pls ma how do I do steaming for my 1month old baby who has cartah, I do not understand how it is done explain Pls, God bless
If you have a water heater in your bathroom, let the hot water flow continously while you sit in a chair with your baby in the bathroom. And if no water heater, put hot water in a bucket and sit close to it with your baby in an enclosed bathroom. The steam should get to your baby that way. Though I added a drop of Eucalyptus oil but my baby was 3months, eucalyptus oil may be too harsh for a 1 month. My daughter's paed advised I give her Vit C daily.

Yes you can

People hat go to America to have their babies travel back with them that long distance from 5 wks
People that travel to America to deliver don't come back with a baby by road. Please read her question again before advising.

You can donate it to a Motherless baby's home, or give it to a Mother in need. Or you can keep it for those days your child decides to poo every 3 hrs.
I usually don't feel comfortable giving out something i cant use.

Seriously what's the big deal in washing thr bum with tap water. I only use warm water on my boy wen d weather is cold. Babies only get used to what they are exposed to. I Av a niece, if she bath with room temperature water she'll catch a cold, her bath water have to b hot, this is cos of how she's raised. Its nt as if u r bathing d baby with cold water...its just d bum and only when they poop.
'nyways lets all do what rocks our boat kiss
Atleast you use warm water when the weather is cold... that is the big deal.

Doc told me the whole illness in creche thing actually builds their immunity. It's inevitable. But you get the advantage when your 12yr old kid can easily shake off cough or cold, while Iya Musu's son has to take the entire week off school.
Eeehnn ehnnn, while my friends daughter's doc told her that the daughter's cough is viral and advised her to change creche since the present one is over crowded.

I only just moved here na...was in naija up until 4-5mths ago. And I have been using water for my babies since they were like 3mths or so.....how cold does naija water want to get? Its not like you are bathing the entire body.
At times my tap water can get really cold oh, especially in the mornings or when it rains. I clean my baby's bum after poo with warm water and her caregiver's do same at the creche. It has to be warm water for my daughter, else she'd scream down the roof.

I regretted buying the wipes I got. I find water to be more efficient, and faster. Take baby to the sink, turn on tap and shap shap ure done and your hands are washed also.
Bossladymo, its easier cos where you are there's hot water running tap. Here na cold water oh, at times freezing water. Please say it well, before some mamas will open cold water tap on their baby's bum. lol
