Is buhari sensible at all ? Dialogue about what ? Amnesty? These people don't want amnesty. Now, what they are saying is that you, buhari, should deal with this unfair allocation of oil blocs!!!! How many farmlands in the north are owned by southerners? Ab.oki nor go ever free make southerner dey control him backyard. Now, the same abo.ki dey person backyard dey share oil bloc wey go block him throat. You see, not until the problems are addressed, bombing of pipelines will never cease. You are only buying time & this why I always laugh at those who praise yar'adua .... the guy only bought time & postponed that day to today & the circle continues.bNiger deltans are not all greedy they are saying you shoukd give them 60% .... is that really too much to ask? Do you think if northerners have these oil blocs this country would still be whole? I like the whites for one thing... they always address problems as it is. |

DEGREE2466:op ... she is not the most beautiful ibo girl joor. I am in uniben & girls dey wey fine pass am anyhow azzzzinnnn dust am throwaway..... she still fine sha but she dey learn work for where some girls dey... that's the hard pill. Hope you can swallow it ? |
A column normally resists axial compressive force, & I know it is also possible for it to resist bending (called a "beam column" ). Now, to the engineers, how can we make a beam resist bending? Or better put, what are the applications of a "beam column" ? |
Baba, use eye gum your book ooo. Girls are like 8credit load in school (I.e they can crush your g.p.a) |
lastpage:Yea, I'm beginning to understand you. But, the purpose of carrying out the workability test (I.e compacting factor test / slump test ) was to see if water was okay or not. A true slump was gotten (meaning water was infact adequate although, the one for sharp sand was slightly better ). So, after doing that in the lab, I won't really buy the idea of water starvation... in construction sites, do you leave an already mixed cement paste in the open air for long hours, like say 6hrs? (why allow those labourers to mix 12 bags of cement & open it for long hours ? some labourers will even eat morning & afternoon food for already mixed cement head. Why not split the mixing in 4's ? These things does affect strength in sites, although negatively. ) Regards the research stuff, I would see what I can do. Me, in Finals ? lol... I'm still in year 3 oooo.... I never even go for my year4 IT programme not to mention start year5 project, that was just my lab experiment, it was even a group work in the sense that I got assistance from some of my mates but I just decided to discuss on it with those already in the construction sector. Believe me, I'll re-conduct this test even if they don't allow me for now. Had I been in year 5, they would easily allow me. |
n3xt:lol |
lastpage:You see, if I were to defend the granite dust, I would say that the granite dust tend to be somewhat reactive with the cement paste in the sense that it delays the hydration of the cement. Under normal circumstances, only cement ought to be reactive but, we are sometimes faced with situations where the aggregate might be reactive as I'm attributing to granite dust in this very instance. And because of this delayed hydration, the intended strength of granite dust couldn't be gotten at the 7-day period but, MAYBE overtime it would achieve it's desired strength, just maybe. Until I one day undergo a repeat of this test in future (using a 28-day period ), I'll always say granite dust is far inferior to sharp sand... & I don't think the strength tested in the lab has anything to do with the curing. I, myself, am particularly interested in the cause of the discrepancies as much as you do thus, I would find a way to conduct the test for a 28-day period.... I just hope they allow me. |
n3xt:OK man. But, why do you always append brabus at the end.... |
n3xt:lol.... I gave my reason that I needed to submit the report within 2wks |
n3xt:Edo state, Benin city. You see, I would really love to if given the opportunity to re-conduct the test, you see, 16N/mm² was just too low & what gross mistake could have been made to reduce the strength that much? It only goes to show that granite dust is inferior, if it was say 24N/mm², I can even accept I made a slight mistake. As regards, re-conducting the test, I must confess, it won't be easy in a school environment. Moreover, we are on strike.... |
KolaShangOne:After a 7-day period (because 28-day period was too lengthy since I needed to submit a report within two weeks). Look at the mix ratio used.... it is a strong mix ratio. |
adanny01:It left even me amazed except for the supervisor. |
n3xt:Workability wasn't really that bad ... I was saying in comparism to the sharp sand. A compacting factor test was also done (had I snapped the report, you would have seen everything). My supervisor was not surprised about my result. He has worked in the construction industry for close to 20years & he said he knew that granite dust was not it & that most engineers always argue like you are doing now. & who said it was mixed in an airtight container ? Don't assume man.... it doesn't help. The container of the automated mixer was used.... (not the rotating automated but, the automated mixer that has about 4 turning blades starting from top of the container cover, through & ending at the bottom of the container). & as a matter of fact, the mix didnt even reach 1/2 of the container. Water-cement ratio used was 0.55 for all.... water shouldn't be added arbitrarily in a lab. It is a test to compare, moreso. |
mavverick:Honestly, I'm not yet in the construction industry & I'm still a civil engr student. But to your question, I believe it is well suited for interlock production & nothing else. For your second question, pls ask others since I'm not well grounded in that... cc: spyder880 , Abdulwastecx , n3xt , Egunmogaji, lastpage |
adanny01:man, 3 cubes was tested & average taken ...& did u believe I wouldn't do all aforementioned under supervision ? Man, I did all that. The only mistake I made was not snapping pix before submission of the detailed report cc: n3xt |
Okay. The test was conducted for the sole purpose to see how fine aggregate as do coarse aggregate influence the desired strength of concrete. For this purpose, two tests were conducted with one using granite dust as fine aggregate & the other using the popular laterite (sharp sand). You see, before now, there have always been mixed reactions concerning this granite dust but, the below results nipped it in the bud. Now, my findings: 1. The granite dust gave a blending color to the mix as oppose to sharp sand. 2. The granite dust proves very difficult to bond with the mix ( I used trowel for both experiments & I'm certain it is same even with an automated mixer) 3. The desired strength was 25N/mm² but, sharp sand gave me 26N/mm² while granite dust gave 16N/mm² 4. For some reason, I believe the workability of sharp sand is better than granite dust. Since it was a time limited experiment, I couldn't make a general conclusion but, however, the strength is what really left me dazed. N:B ==> A mix of 1: 3/2 : 3 ( 4: 6: 12) was used which I believe does not have any detrimental effect on the suppose granite dust. It's just a mix, afterall. I made the summary as short as I could. Cc: Abdulwastecx, Egunmogaji , n3xt |
abdulwastecx:I would give the detailed report later in the day. I need to use the right values in my summary . Moreover, NEPA is not helping for now..... |
n3xt:please, help me ask the engineer how complex it is to carry out the design & analysis in terms of duration because, I am thinking it is time consuming even more than slab, beam & stairs altogether. |
EgunMogaji:you are right but, the look & feel shouldn't be enough. Let's be really sincere, is there any structure where the best ( I.e ultimate ) strength is not required at least for serviceability? |
n3xt:yea, many pros are using it. But, we all know that they feel it is good because of it's colour enhancing properties & engineers always neglect tests to ascertain it's credibility.…. |
Another analysis was carried out, many people use granite dust in their construction of houses and they always argue that it is very good but in my lab tests, I observed that the granite dust seems very hard to bond with the cement & coarse aggrega8 and when I tested the cube strength, it was far below the required value for a 7-day period. Now, why is granite dust still preferred as a fine aggregate even, when it ought to be rejected by all sane human ? |
podosci:What are the reason to then select a foundation type for a structure if soil tests are not done ? I suppose you are not a magician to accurately predict the bearing capacity.….. do u choose a foundation based on the fact that it is popular to a city ? e.g strip , is popular in Benin & so, if u were to build, u choose strip ? Or what then is the basis for selection ? |
Now, why is it that most engineers don't design roofs? From analysis carried out, it has been observed that those carpenters that construct roof trusses for houses, most of the truss members( abt 40%) are zero force members ( I.e redundant)... & this falls back to my initial question. why ? |

DaMotivator:Please sir, don't be fooled. You really don't know what is happening, do you ? NLC should go on strike for even 5years, it is the best choice, believe me. The elites or say, the rich have a way of getting what they want. Who are the cabals? Why not go for them and spare the masses the agony! Even if fuel is to be sold for #300, the common man in the streets is still the one losing. The cabals are already blowing up with money & will always resort to better ways of looting money. The masses should never be made to suffer for what they had no part in. We Africans are in this state because we refuse to see things for what they really are. Oh, I heard someone saying buhari said the country is broke. Are we, the masses , that stupid ? You see, those who wrecked this nation are those who will still loot the money recovered from the subsidy removal , just like before. Oh, you think they will use the supposed subsidy money to standardize this country? C'mon man, they won't. They will buy jeeps, trucks, mansions et al. The gap between the poor and the rich is getting wider each minute, the naira is been devalued as price of goods are getting higher.… or when last did you buy fresh tomatoes ? Last year? We need to do things right and the poor masses who has no part in looting the country's resources shouldn't be made to near the brunt for they ( the elites) ought to know that the country was not their handbag. Don't be deceived by the word "cabals" the rich intend to use in stripping us this time around , they are only seeking to enrich their purse and once they saw the country has no " money" they want to generate money from the subsidy removal & of course, loot ....as usual. |
KPhantom:Well, u may be right. We are not in the IT DEPARTMENT where they do all the maths in admitting students so we can only give the best speculations. But believe me when I tell u that most of the time aggregates play a key role btw related fields. I'm in engineering faculty so it's hard keeping up to date with agric faculty.... but , 50 seems low , although I'm not saying you are wrong. |
KPhantom:animal science is the number 1 in agric faculty.... I.e the most sought after. It is not a must to admit 150 students it can even be 100.... there are others with very high aggregate who will not be given medicine & will inturn increase ur supposed "72" to even 250... Just do your best & leave the mathematics for God. Some people will not even get their choice of course even if they pass cutoff mark... It all falls back to God , I tell u. |
KPhantom:62 aggregate as at 2012.…. nowadays, too many people pass jamb unlike b4.. so it could be within 62-65 |
Lol @ poster above me the girl nor fine for face but her body is to die for .... abi na only me get eyes ? |
CaptainEColeJnr:OK man.... got your point |
buharisbae:68 will give u optometry |
