An employer wants to offer only COS(nursing) No visa fee and flight. Please how much is both in naira? To know if I should reject or accept.
Visas and flights have always been your responsibility. An employer may decide to advance you the funds then claw it back from your salary.
See if thats an option.
Nurses used to get a golden handshake,I think.

Legal aid and the cab rank rule are two different systems. The conditions with the cab rank rule make it essentially an ideal rather than reality, despite what the Bar Council would have you think.
-I would have thought both systems worked together to ensure everyone has experienced legal representation however shallow their pockets are.

- I was a foolish 15yr old at one time. I held some narrowminded views at that time. The brain does not fully develop till your early 20s. She made those choices but noone can say she had full capacity. The consequences are too dire . We havent even tried deradicalisation and rehab.

- Some of the people on this thread have 15 Yr olds. You are a lucky parent if you can place your hand over your heart and swear that your 15 Yr old daughter has enough critical thinking to remain adamant in the face of peer pressure.

- Every family has 1 blacksheep. You all got the same training but in at least 1 of you,it didn't take. Shall we blame your parents then? But 5 other children are highfliers. Some children are just naughty and won't listen.

- I get yearly training on deradicalisation as part of mandatory training. Radicalisation is a systemic issue . If I was the UK, I would be looking into how they got access to her, who else is affected. Banning her hasn't solved the problem and is a tad performative.

- Realistically, being her neighbour is the safest you can be . It's a win win. If she is indeed a hard-core bad woman, she ll never bomb her home. If she isn't a terrorist, then she won't bomb it either

Her lawyer's would keep milking this cow........ 🐄🐮🤣
Everybody has a right to good legal representation. Legal aid is Beans and actually does some good compared to the billions the government has now wasted on Rwanda and PPE.

Unlike in the US, where public defenders are crap, I hear they operate a taxi rank system here where Barristers are not allowed to turn down a case so long as they are next in line.

1. She was born here, never been to Bangladesh in her life. She was radicalised in the UK at 15 years old ie a child. Why does the UK get to export this frankenstein that they nurtured? I say bring her home ,investigate her part in IS and throw her in jail.

2. Bangladesh has said she will face the death penalty if she enters the country. She is now stateless. The UK knew that removing her citizenship would make her stateless and did it anyway.

3. I am a bit worried as it appears there are 2 tiers of citizenship. An irrevocable and a revocable one.
How many generations down the line will my offspring have to be to acquire this irrevocable citizenship.

These are the 3 major arguments i have heard against the government's position.I havent read her lawyers argument so there may be more. It's a Landmark case and will likely get to the Supreme Court.

I haven't addressed "supporting terrorism" as I believe its too easy to disprove that theory.

Hehe.. all this advice sef

Most folks who came in last year via the care route was via the support of their family here. I've come across families who are long and well established in the West. Ask how, and it was almost always by lifting themselves.

In the end, there are no hard and fast rules to life. I hardly lend folks money but on certain things, I make exceptions. For many, helping a sibling come over and get established would ultimately mean more to them than thousands stashed away and being the only one giving freebies. Ultimately, it's for each to know their root and what they can forgo as sad stories also exist.

Oh dear. Come and take a hug. Its especially difficult when its your brother. If it was a cousin, you can kick them out and damn the consequences.

I would go with having a very frank discussion. Bring out all your bills and show them. Tell them what you want them to pay. No arguments. Set boundaries, eg ", this thing you just used and threw away, I wanted to use it.can you please not do that anymore ?",

Also ask if you need help with the baby. Not everyone's maternal to know without asking.

When we have short term guests we don't care to set boundaries. But if they are staying longer, then we do need to have these boundaries in order not to feel put upon.

This advice is general : DO NOT lend anybody money to come over. Give what you can spare and tell them you haven't got any money.
People have stopped talking to me over this policy but hey-ho

The Lion is already caged.

Euthanasia is applicable to cases like where a dog kills a human.
Since dogs live with humans, such dog is killed.
A lion doesn't live with humans. It is always caged so no need to kill it.
This is wrong. Any animal that kills a human being is killed. No exceptions. They have become dangerous. Same way the government closes down fake ogogoro shops

I agree that vast majority of employers stick to the template you have mentioned just as vast majority of employers request references from previous not current employment. So this also could be one of the minor cases where an employer could decide to go detailed and bring up minor but valid and variable issues.

Reverse psychology. You know we dont play.
femisplash:
In a very terse statement, you can't give what you don't have. Can southeast pull off a national protest?, do they have the dog in them to fight?, i honestly do not think so. When Prof. Yusuf Usman was asked why the SE are not talking(joining in protests), his response was that he didn't know. Maybe truly, maybe he was being sarcastic, however, historical antecedents and pattern of events have shown quite revealingly that SE has never been a forceful region to gather a momentum for a nationwide protest with an end product for change and national redirection. SE are more docile and submissive, more often than not, they needed a push from other regions to set them on the tangent. Since 1960, all major protests, never had any been ignited in the east. 1987 Ali must go, 1993 democratic movement, 1988 Anti-SAP, 2012 subsidy protest, 2020 End SARS, were either brewed from the SW, SS or North. To be candid, asking SE to talk is a weight a bit too much for them, they're much a less forceful region in Nigeria.

Where in my post did I tell you, am a Batist. You assume too quickly that every yorubaman voted for Tinubu as it transpired in your region with Obi.

I also knew that tinubu is not the messiah , neither is atiku or Peter Obi. Consequently, I didn't bother to validate their sham election with my vote. I did not vote for Tinubu in the last election and neither did I ever vote for buhari in his 2 tenures.

As a yoruba man, I knew emilokan is not going to aso rock in my interest or Nigerians in general but for his own self aggrandizement. Incidentally, none of those moro.ns straddling our political sphere (as leaders) have anything positive to offer Nigerians, either.

It's probably best not to apply any sort of Nigerian logic to things here. What you just described is illegal here as any bad reference must be backed up by hard evidence. If your employee sues you, they ll never have to work again.

Viruses:
If I take the risk of bringing you in on sponsorship, training you on the job etc and then you come to me for reference to go to another company, that thing that gave you the mind to come for the reference will give me the mind to scatter it for you too 😀😀😀.
