The fuel crisis gripping Nigeria today is not merely an economic inconvenience — it is a humanitarian challenge that strikes at the heart of every Nigerian household, business, and dream. As President Bola Ahmed Tinubu navigates the complexities of governance in one of Africa's most populous nations, the urgency to address the fuel scarcity and its cascading effects on the cost of living has never been more critical. The Root of the Problem The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has disrupted global oil supply chains in ways that have reverberated far beyond the battlefield. For West Africa, and Nigeria in particular, this disruption has translated into acute fuel shortages, skyrocketing pump prices, and a people struggling to survive under the weight of inflation. Nigeria — a nation that sits atop one of the largest oil reserves in the world — finds itself paradoxically unable to fuel its own vehicles, power its own homes, or sustain its own economy. This contradiction must no longer be tolerated. President Tinubu as the Catalyst for Change President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu came into office with a bold promise — to restructure Nigeria's economy and restore dignity to its citizens. The removal of the fuel subsidy, while painful in the short term, was presented as a necessary step toward long-term fiscal sustainability. However, the burden of that decision has fallen disproportionately on ordinary Nigerians. It is now time for the Tinubu administration to balance that bold reform with equally bold solutions that bring relief to the people. The President has the political will, the experience, and the international relationships necessary to drive a new energy agenda for Nigeria. The question is not whether it can be done — the question is whether the urgency is being matched with decisive action. A Homegrown Solution: The Path Forward As a Nigerian, I propose the following strategic solutions to bring fuel prices down and restore stability: 1. Fast-Track the Dangote Refinery to Full Capacity The Dangote Refinery in Lagos is one of the largest in the world. President Tinubu must champion and accelerate its full operational capacity so that Nigeria refines its own crude oil domestically. This eliminates the costly cycle of exporting crude and reimporting refined petroleum products at inflated international prices. 2. Establish a Strategic National Fuel Reserve Nigeria must create a government-managed strategic fuel reserve that acts as a buffer during periods of global supply disruption. When the Middle East is in conflict and international prices spike, Nigeria should be able to draw from its own reserves rather than suffer at the mercy of global market volatility. 3. Pursue Regional Energy Partnerships Across West Africa Nigeria must lead a West African energy coalition — engaging ECOWAS member states in a shared fuel distribution and pricing framework. A unified regional approach to fuel procurement and distribution reduces costs through economies of scale and protects member nations from external shocks. 4. Invest in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Renewable Energy Nigeria is rich in natural gas. The Tinubu administration must aggressively expand CNG infrastructure as an affordable, cleaner alternative fuel for transportation. Simultaneously, investment in solar energy for homes and businesses reduces the dependence on petrol-powered generators, lowering the overall energy burden on Nigerian families. 5. Crack Down on Fuel Hoarding and Black Market Distribution A significant portion of Nigeria's fuel shortage is artificial — driven by hoarding, illegal diversion, and black market profiteering. President Tinubu must direct the EFCC, NNPCL, and relevant security agencies to prosecute fuel racketeers swiftly and without political interference. 6. Diplomatic Engagement for Global Peace As a regional and continental leader, President Tinubu must use Nigeria's diplomatic voice — through the African Union and the United Nations — to advocate for a peaceful resolution to the Middle East conflict. Peace in the Middle East is peace in the fuel market. Stability in global oil supply chains directly translates to lower prices at the pump in Lagos, Kano, Abuja, and Port Harcourt. The Vision: A Nigeria That Can Breathe A Nigeria where fuel is affordable is a Nigeria where food is affordable. It is a Nigeria where transportation costs fall, where small businesses survive, where the ordinary man and woman can look forward to tomorrow without dread. It is a Nigeria worthy of its potential. President Tinubu has the opportunity to be remembered not just as the president who removed a subsidy, but as the president who built a self-sufficient, energy-secure nation. That legacy begins with deliberate, courageous, and people-centered policy — starting now. Nigeria deserves better. And with the right leadership and the right solutions, better is entirely possible. Written from the perspective of a Nigerian citizen who believes in the promise of this great nation. |

odinson1:You are absolutely right! Men should stop trying to prove themselves. All you need is drop down your ego. With packaging and looking presentable, you can always hunt and catch a rich girl. With help from her dad and Mon, you can have a lavish owambe. Her Mon & friends do pepper then gang with matching outfits. In return, you enjoy the benefits of big wedding. Just be humble to her family and you men won't have problem as long as you always respond with YES MA

True is everyone cannot get a white collar job. I personally isn't a fan of working 8 - 5 inside a closed tiny office with so much pressure and target to met and at the end still stressed out with nothing or little to show for it. It think it is easier to be self employed in the 70s - 90s then now. |
I haven't seen such men. Three common men; those that are promiscuous, the drunkered and the smokers. I guess, you have limited ladies or you don't have boldness/confidence and resources that's why you haven't cheated. Men are human that cannot be trusted; even bf he shouldn't just rub it off on my face. |

Hello, of recently after coming out of service camp, I noticed my skin looks dull and seems more darker. It was until people who new me before started giving me more notice on how my skin is darker than before. I never really bothered about it but of recent I decided to start giving my skin more attention, I checked skin blogs for best skin care routine but I felt something isn't right so I look for recommendations, but the problem is there are many creams and body lotion out there. My skin was caramel something light brown, can anyone recommend something to tone up abit and what to use to maintain that color. NB: Not interested in any WOW Bleaching Cream effect. |

What's the point building houses that the masses can't afford. They just devise another means to enrich themselves. Yet before completion of the houses politicians already claim their portion leaving the houses unoccupied. The truth is that the development in Igbogbo is not benefiting the indigenous. Every politicians to their selfish interest. spit |
