ComputersNew Virus Out. Beware. Don't Open That Email by MisterMan(op): 9:08pm On Oct 26, 2013
There's a new computer virus out there to warn you about and it bullies you into taking the bait.

Some computer experts are saying this is one of the worst viruses they have ever seen. It only affects windows PCs but it essentially holds your computer hostage.

The bad news is once you get the virus, you don't really have any good options. You can either pay a set amount of ransom money or lose everything on your hard drive.

It's called Crypto Locker, a virus that's infecting computers across the country. It's delivered in the form of an email and users are tricked into opening it because it looks like it's from a legitimate company such as FedEx or UPS.

"Ransomware causes your computer files to be non-accessible and when that happens you have two choices. You can recover if you have a backup which I hope you do or pay the ransom within 100 hours. If you do not pay the ransom you lose all of your data," Computer Expert Anthony Mongeluzo said.

The ransom money ranges from 100 bucks to 300 bucks. Mongeluzo said some victims have had to fork over as much as 700 bucks.

"The way they're accepting payments is bit coin, a new form of cash that's been making headway on the Internet. It's used for lot of illegal activities." Mongeluzo said.

Unfortunately, Mongeluzo says if you have photos or files that you absolutely can't live without paying the ransom money is the only option. The problem is they hold a special key called a private key. You need that private key to unlock it.

"With technology, if you don't have that exact key you can never recover your data," Mongeluzo said.

If you get this virus, it may be a good idea to take your computer to an expert first. Some copycat viruses are showing up asking for money even though your computer isn't infected

The bottom line with this is prevention. Be very careful with any email you receive and make sure to back up all of your personal files.

Of course that is true. There are some places, as you have rightly pointed out; Govt parastaltals most especially, writing the best and the most outstanding resume will not make you be called in for interview. In this case, I am NOT talking about those places. The purpose of resume is to make the employer invite you for interview, so if you are writing the resume after resumption you know smething is wrong. I will advise you quiting being a pessimistic. See the cup as half full and NOT as half empty.

Other Interesting Titbits
These are other pieces of information that enhance your candidature. This article is geared towards those that are young in the labour market. These are the people that are hired not because of their experience but because of what they learn in school. Having a 1st or 2:1 enhances that, and if you are in that category, you are better off putting the information there. The actual courses taken in school if you are applying for a position related to your course. If you are an accountant seeking an accounting job, you should include this. Remember you are going to be hired based on your knowledge and not experience. Of course, an old hand need not include these. A resume is actually a form of advert. Anything that enhances your candidature should be included.
SKILLS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
In this final part of the assertions section of your resume, you go into more detail. You are still writing to sell yourself to the reader, not to inform them. Basically, you do exactly what you did in the previous section, except that you go into more detail.
In the summary, you focused on your most special highlights. Now you tell the rest of the best of your story. Let them know what results you produced, what happened as a result of your efforts, what you are especially gifted or experienced at doing. Flesh out the most important highlights in your summary.
You are still writing to do what every good advertisement does, communicating the following: if you buy this product, you will get these direct benefits. If it doesn't contribute to furthering this communication, don't bother to say it.

THE SUMMARY
The "Summary" or "Summary of Qualifications" consists of several concise statements that focus the reader's attention on the most important qualities, achievements and abilities you have to offer. Those qualities should be the most compelling demonstrations of why they should hire you instead of the other candidates. It gives you a brief opportunity to telegraph a few of your most sterling qualities. It is your one and only chance to attract and hold their attention, to get across what is most important, and to entice the employer to keep reading.
This is the spiciest part of the resume. This may be the only section fully read by the employer, so it should be very strong and convincing. The "Summary" is the one place to include professional characteristics (extremely energetic, a gift for solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment, a natural salesman, exceptional interpersonal skills, committed to excellence, etc.) which may be helpful in winning the interview. Gear every word in the "Summary" to your targeted goal.
Here are some examples
1. A young, hard-working, focused and intelligent graduate. Worked as a form teacher, was also the Accounting and Economics teacher during the service year where I had the opportunity to mentor and coach the students and had 99% success rate in the external exam, up from 62%.
2. Intelligent, ambitious, hard working and dedicated programmer with the ability to network and multitask. Acquired a laptop which was used to train other students and develop websites. Income realised was used to train myself and fund a business centre on campus. The business to acquire much needed business and technical expitise.
3. An energetic Computer Science graduate with the uncanny ability to motivate and gets things done a great mobiliser, a team player and a natural team leader. Was the Senior Prefect and the best graduating student in high school and the Students Union President in University.

For a fuller and better discussion, log on to our website @ www.getemployedquickly.com We have prepared an MS-Word which you can digest.
Objective Statement: This is one of the tools used to create an effective resume. It is also used to make statement about what value proposition you are bringing to the company.
One thing I want you to know upfront is that resume writing is more of an art than science. The Dos and Don’ts are not always clear cut. Some will tell you it is old fashioned, a waste of precious space to include it, and somebody even derisively labeled it the Obvious Statement. On the other hand, others are adamant about its desirability. Sometimes ago, a survey was conducted in US, a whopping 40% said, not including it annoys them so much that they will not even consider those who do not include it. What does that imply? It means, statistically, 4 out of 10 employers will not call you for interview simply because you did not include this. So to be at the safer side, I think it is sensible to include it.
Many people are not savvy enough in the way they write it. They write selfish objectives such as ‘A position that allows me to hone my ability to be a better Accountant’. Hey, wake up. You are not being employed to achieve your private agenda. You are employed to add value to the company. The golden rule is: write from the point of view of the employer.
Others, while they are knowledgeable enough to include it write fluffy and meaningless objective. Others write vague or overly broad ones. Objective statement need to be short and sharp for it to be effective.
Here are some examples of effective objectives. Notice they are short and sharp, and looking to add value to the company.
1. Looking for the post of Assistant Executive - Human Capital (Internal Firm Services) where I can facilitate the development of the company through my unique abilities of being a dedicated employee who do not compromise standards
2. A position as Business Accountant where my qualities of being an innovative, capable, dedicated employee who can work with little or no supervision to achieve corporate objectives.
3. Wants a position of Accounting Officer where my educational background, my skills and abilities can be used to realize the mission and vision of the company
Remember, your resume will only get a few seconds attention, at best! You have to generate interest right away, in the first sentence they lay their eyes on. Having an objective statement that really sizzles is highly effective. And it's simple to do. One format is:
OBJECTIVE: An Bleep position in an organization where yyy and zzz would be needed (or, in an organization seeking yyy and zzz).
Bleep is the name of the position you are applying for. Yyy and zzz are the most compelling qualities, abilities or achievements that will really make you stand out above the crowd of applicants. Your previous research to find out what is most important to the employer will provide the information to fill in yyy and zzz.
If you are applying for several different positions, you should adapt your resume to each one. There is nothing wrong with having several different resumes, each with a different objective, each specifically crafted for a different type of position. You may even want to change some parts of your resume for each job you apply for. Have an objective that is perfectly matched with the job you are applying for. Remember, you are writing advertising copy, not your life story.

The truth is; very many applicants are pitifully inadequate when it comes to write resume. It is our motive in this thread to shed more light on how to write effective resume, and point out to another document that will do more justice to the topic. The importance of writing effective resume can be seen from the fact that employers will ignore you no matter how good you are.
There are so many people who don’t know how to write good resume as evidenced by a lot of ignorant comments peddled around. People churn out laughable resumes that will guarantee you not being called for an interview.
Here is the general layout of a good resume. Please note that there is slight difference between
the order for new applicant and old applicant. For inexperienced applicant, this is how it should be ordered:
1. Objective
2. Career Summary
3. Other Interesting tidbits
a. Class
b. Courses taken
c. Skills
4. Education
5. Work Experience
6. Other items
For experienced applicant, here is the layout
1. Objective
2. Career Summary
3. Skills
4. Work Experience
5. Education items
6. Other items
For inexperienced applicant, they are not going to be hired based on their experience, hence education comes before work experience. A young Accountant (say) who served in a school where she was required to teach Principles of Accounts or Business Education will not rely on that. On the other hand, an experienced Accountant who has put in about 10-15 years will not rely on his education which will have little or no bearing to what he is doing now.

For a new person in labour market, include your class if it is 2:1 or 1st.

FamilyRe: What Do You Say When Someone Sneezes Around You: "Bless You"?? by MisterMan(m): 1:36pm On Jan 16, 2013
Depends on my mood. May either say Pele or I may say "News in brief: 10 million rendered homeless"
Just Googled now. Here are some of the things read:

Bless you, or God bless you, is a common English expression typically addressed to a person after they sneeze. Alternative responses to sneezing adopted by English speakers are the German word gesundheit (meaning "health"wink and the Spanish salud. The origin of this custom and its original purpose are unknown.
Origins and legends

Several possible origins are commonly given. The practice of blessing someone who sneezes, dating as far back as at least AD 77, however, is far older than most specific explanations can account for.[1]

One explanation holds that the custom originally began as an actual blessing. Gregory I became Pope in AD 590 as an outbreak of the bubonic plague was reaching Rome. In hopes of fighting off the disease, he ordered unending prayer and parades of chanters through the streets. At the time, sneezing was thought to be an early symptom of the plague. The blessing ("God bless you!"wink became a common effort to halt the disease.[2]

Another explanation suggests that people used to believe that a person's soul could be thrown from their body when they sneezed,[1] that sneezing otherwise opened the body to invasion by the Devil[2] or evil spirits,[3] or that sneezing was the body's effort to force out an invading evil presence.[1] In these cases, "bless you" or "God bless you" is used as a sort of shield against evil. The Irish Folk story "Master and Man" by Thomas Crofton Croker, collected by William Butler Yeats, describes this variation.[4]

Another legend holds that the heart stops beating during a sneeze, and that the phrase "bless you" encourages the heart to continue beating.[1][2][3]

In some cultures, sneezing is seen as a sign of good fortune[1] or God's beneficence.[5] In such cases, "bless you" may be spoken as a recognition of that luck.[1]

Alternatively, it may be possible that the phrase began simply as a response for an event that was not well understood at the time.[1]
This is from: Wikipedia(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bless_you). I have heard that story b4. This another one:

Many people have become accustomed to saying "bless you" or "gesundheit" when someone sneezes. No one says anything when someone coughs, blows their nose or burps, so why do sneezes get special treatment? What do those phrases actually mean, anyway?

Wishing someone well after they sneeze probably originated thousands of years ago. The Romans would say "Jupiter preserve you" or "Salve," which meant "good health to you," and the Greeks would wish each other "long life." The phrase "God bless you" is attributed to Pope Gregory the Great, who uttered it in the sixth century during a bubonic plague epidemic (sneezing is an obvious symptom of one form of the plague).

The exchangeable term "gesundheit" comes from Germany, and it literally means "health." The idea is that a sneeze typically precedes illness. It entered the English language in the early part of the 20th century, brought to the United States by German-speaking immigrants.

Virtually every country around the globe has its own way of wishing sneezers well. People in Arabic countries say, "Alhamdulillah," which means, "praise be to God." Hindus say, "Live!" or "Live well!" Some countries have special sneezing responses for children. In Russia, after children are given the traditional response, "bud zdorov" ("be healthy"wink, they are also told "rosti bolshoi" ("grow big"wink. When a child sneezes in China, he or she will hear "bai sui," which means, "may you live 100 years."

For the most part, the various sneeze responses originated from ancient superstitions. Some people believed that a sneeze causes the soul to escape the body through the nose. Saying "bless you" would stop the devil from claiming the person's freed soul. Others believed the opposite: that evil spirits use the sneeze as an opportunity to enter a person's body. There was also the misconception that the heart momentarily stops during a sneeze (it doesn't), and that saying "bless you" was a way of welcoming the person back to life.

We now know that sneezing is a reflex action and is most often the sign of something relatively benign, such as a cold or allergy. A sneeze also can be provoked by being outside in the sunlight or from smelling a strong odor. Still, we persist in the custom of saying "bless you" or "gesundheit," mainly out of habit and common courtesy. From (http://people.howstuffworks.com/sneezing.htm)

I saw this on the internet. What do you think about it. I don't think I really believe or I am just too concerned with the hard life to bother too much. Cheers

After a burst appendix nearly cost 4-year-old Colton Burpo his life in 2003, his parents were thankful just to have him alive and well. But when he opened up about his brush with death a few months later, they were shocked when he described a very vivid trip to heaven, and spoke of matters about which he had no apparent way of knowing.

During an automobile trip, when Sonja Burpo asked him about his memories of being in the hospital, little Colton replied: “Yes, Mommy, I remember — that’s where the angels sang to me.” A sweet answer, to be sure — but then Colton made his parents’ jaws drop when he told them about sitting in Jesus’ lap, watching his parents while he lay seemingly near death, and meeting his great-grandfather.

But most poignantly, Colton described meeting a sibling in heaven — even though he had no way of knowing that his mother had miscarried two years before he was born, since his parents had never told him.

Jesus and John the Baptist
Todd Burpo began telling of his son’s heaven-sent visions from the pulpit of the Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial, Neb., where he serves as pastor. Word of mouth spread, and the family landed a book deal. The book — “Heaven Is for Real,” written by Todd with co-writer Lynn Vincent — has become a best-seller, with some 1.5 million copies in print since its release in November.

Appearing live on TODAY Monday with Sonja and Colton, who’s now 11, Todd told Matt Lauer he understands that naysayers may believe Colton’s story is a little too heavenly to be true — initially, so did he and Sonja. “At first we were surprised; we never anticipated to talk to our son about these things,” Todd told Matt Lauer.

“We didn’t share at first, and then once we started sharing, people were amazed,” Sonja Burpo added. “They were encouraged by what we were sharing with them.”
Colton was stricken with appendicitis shortly before his fourth birthday. Family guilt was heavy — for five days he lay getting sicker and sicker with what the family believed was stomach flu, which had previously hit Colton’s older sister Cassie.
Little Colton nearly didn’t make it: He lay in a hospital bed for 17 days. When he finally rallied, the family rejoiced — but they were floored when, months later, the boy began matter-of-factly
describing what he had experienced when he was in between life and death: seeing Jesus dressed in royal purple, meeting John the Baptist, having angels sing to him to ease his anxiety.
The Burpos believed these were things Colton could have gleaned from his Bible studies. But he also told his mother he saw her talking on the phone in another room while he was having surgery, and saw his father praying in a small room, all while he was seated in Jesus’ lap.“What caught my attention was he could tell me where I was while he was in surgery,” Todd told Lauer. “The surgeon couldn’t tell me that, the nurses couldn’t, my wife couldn’t tell me where I was praying. But he could tell me.”Shocking revelation
Colton also spoke of meeting a long-departed relative in heaven, telling NBC News: “I was just sitting by the Holy Spirit and then this guy comes up to me and says, ‘Are you Todd’s son?’ I say yes, and he says, ‘Well, I’m his grandfather.’ ”

Colton said that everyone in heaven has wings. On Monday, he described his great-grandfather “Pops” as being “very big, huge wings, curly hair, a big smile, and he was very nice.”

But the real shocker came when Colton told his mother, “Mommy, I have two sisters.” Sonja told her son that he had to be referring to his oldest sister, Cassie, and his cousin Traci, but he responded: “No — I have two sisters. You had a baby die in your tummy, didn’t you?”

Sonja told Lauer the family had never uttered a word about the miscarriage to Colton — and what’s more, they never even learned the sex of their miscarried child. “It was a private hurt that we didn’t even share with our friends,” Sonja said, adding Colton’s revelation was at first “shocking, but then a relief that she’s OK, which we didn’t know she was a she.”

In a subsequent TODAY segment Monday, Sonja filled in Colton’s description of his meeting with his sister: “He told us what she looked like, and she wouldn’t stop hugging him. And she doesn’t have a name.”

“When he told us about his sister in heaven, that we hadn’t told him about, [it was] another one of those ‘holy cow’ moments — OK, he can’t make this stuff up, he can’t invent this; no memory was planted,” Todd told Lauer. “But the peace that came over us, and the healing, like, ‘Wow, I have a daughter in heaven waiting for me’ — I think a lot of people need that type of hope and healing, too. And I think that’s what a lot of people are finding when they hear Colton’s testimony, to know what they have to look forward to.”

When Lauer asked Colton what heaven looked like, the 11-year-old replied, “Well, there’s a lot of color. There are a lot of people and a lot of angels.”

In his second segment later on Monday, Colton gave Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb some additional details — such as the fact that there are no old people in heaven. “Nobody wears glasses, [and] you’re in like your 20s, 30s.”

Hi Friends,

A friend of mine is into music. He has just released his second album. I want to help him create ringtones so he will have multiple streams of income; selling both the album and the ringtones. I love the way MTN and other sell ringtones by use of shortcode and I want to go that route. This is simplicity at best. I want a situation where people will get SMS informing them of ringtones. They on their own will send a code to that shoetcode. They will get the ringtone and the money will go to the musician's account. Creating ringtone is not really a problem. Does anyone know how the money for the ringtone will eventually land in his account. Will anybody be good enough to explain the general outline, not really the technical aspect per se. I want simplicity- just like MTN. User gets SMS message, texts a number to a shortcode. He gets the ringtone and my money lands in my friends account. Is something like this possible. As we are living in a global village, I want Nigerians in Diaspora to be able to do same. Will appreciate it much if some kind soul who have ideas to share it. Thanks.
ComputersRe: Google Launches Gmail SMS In Nigeria by MisterMan(m): 11:27am On Jul 19, 2012
I just coudn't go through some of the useless things people post. It is so absurd. From scanning through some of the things some people write, it shows they have used it before or they have read something about it and they understand it.
Nicklee: This service is not exactly as free as y'all think. Initially, you're granted a credit of fifty messages. Every time you send a message, your credit decreases by one. Every time you receive an SMS message in Chat (for example when a phone user replies to one of your messages) your credit increases by five, up to a maximum of 50. If your SMS credit goes down to zero at any point, it will increase back up to one 24 hours later. So, you won't ever be locked out of the system.
"Buying" additional messages: Keep in mind that if you'd like a higher message credit, you can always send an SMS to your own phone, and then reply to that message multiple times. Every time you send a reply message, your SMS credit is increased by five. Effectively, you're buying more messages by paying your phone company for these outgoing messages.

So, if you send 50 messages without getting a reply, you are effectively down to 1 SMS per 24 hrs unless you buy more credit by SMS'ing yourself from your own phone. However, you pay your local service provider for this. Anyways, this is probably where MTN, Glo etc hope to make their money from the relationship with google
Honestly, I don't think this should make the front page. I tried it and it worked flawlessly, and this was about 2 MONTHS ago. It is not as if it was RECENTLY released. For any message you send, the recipient receives 2 messages, the first one is about the message you sent. The second message is automatically sent by Google, explaining how you can reply. All these CIA and FBIs stuffs just don't get it. It is from immature and uninformed minds.

By the way, I used to have high opinion of Nairaland (Really I still do) but most commentaries these days do come from immature toddlers

rareman: make google no try this thing, they wan kill d bulk sms biz, Shey na everything dey wan do?
I still feel bulk SMS has its place. There is a service that I will soon be launching. Google SMS will not do. In this case, I need to write a code that will do this messaging. There was a time I was considering sending mass mail to all those people that registered applicants for the last JAMB exam. That is a perfect example of where Google SMS would have been ideal.

adewasco2k: i have been sending free sms via Gmail to for like 4months, but this seems to be different..

harryobas: ... As a web site does not have an equivalent desktop version it should therefore follow that there are differences.I sometimes refer to a web site as the Front Office or Showroom software and the web application as the Back Office software. Other people may use Front End and Back End. The front office is where visitors come in to browse and sometimes make a purchase. The back office is there to provide support services for the front office, such as processing customer orders and maintaining, issuing and replenishing inventory.
I love that analogy. It should make things clearer to those that do not know

okeyxyz: to make it short, a website is a web application, but a web application is not necessarily a website.
No Sir. a website is not a web application. I prefer to st that a web application is an application that sits in website, or better still that uses Http protocol

On a side note, I hate it when posts are hidden. By the way, why should they hide posts.

It makes research easier for students. Right from inside the program, you can to websites of JAMB, WAEC & NECO. That is not all. All the schools websites are included. Simply clicking a button takes you to any of the school’s website.
There also a wizard that tells you about available scholarship information. The book of Hosea 6:4 says ‘my people perish for lack of knowledge’. We don’t want that to happen to users of SchoolPerfect. It lists information that students in secondary schools can enjoy (unfortunately not very many). All available scholarships available to undergrads are also listed. There are many other features that are available.

As we have indicated, we have StudentPerfect which is also dubbed as Corporate or School version. All the features above are included in the Advanced edition. The Standard version does not include some of these wizards. There is also the StudentPerfect Express or the Parent version. Are you interested in any of these? Give us a call. The number is 08135347621. Cheers. Comments are welcomed.

Choosing Profession
It is funny the way some students choose professions. Very many are influenced by friends, brothers etc without actually looking at their interests. When I was in school, I did not know what I was going to become, but I knew I was NOT going to become a medical doctor. If ask you, ‘do you know Soyinka?’ Without thinking, you are going to say yes. Most likely, you won’t even ask ‘Is it Wole Soyinka?’ Why is he this famous? It is because he read what he is naturally good at. We have wizards that can recommend professions/courses. There are actually two of such wizards. We have one that is available to JSS students. It recommends based on academic performance. There is another wizard that asks you about your interest, and based on your response, it recommends professions. A related wizard is called Course And Institution Wizard. This wizard lists all courses. It also lists all institutions. As an example, you have determined that you want to study Accountancy. It lists all institutions that offer the course, the subjects you need to write in JAMB and the requirements. On the other hand, if you are interested in studying at UNILAG, it shows all the courses in that institution etc. It also includes career guidance elements. Lets’ assume you want to study Accountancy, it gives you the low down on it. Innovative, don’t you think so.

There are some exciting features that we have included. It is possible for a student to ask for all past question papers on Quadratic Equation, (say). It looks thru the questions (JAMB, WAEC) etc. and presents only this. This is also useful for those in SSS1 or SSS2 to test their understanding of a new topic that has been taught them, e.g. Quadratic Equation we talked about previously. Let’s say I am in SSS3 preparing for external exams. If I try a paper, Physics as an example. It monitors the performance on each of the topics. If I am deficient in Optics, I can quickly see this. I can then read more and come back and request for all questions in Optics. Powerful, don’t you think so?

Some students are under performing. There are many reasons for this. There is a wizard that asks students a series of questions with the intention of assisting the student to pinpoint where they are actually having problem. Some students have some bad reading habits like day dreaming etc. This wizard can actually bring out where a student is having problem. Some students are having psychological problems. All these, the wizard (Academic Grade Improvement Wizard) can handle.

More exciting features
Before we go on, we want to say that actually there are two distinct products. We have StudentPerfect and StudentPerfect Express. StudentPerfect (not the Express) has 3 different versions (Standard, Professional and Advanced). As you probably guess correctly, Advanced is the most powerful of the three. Let us say upfront that we have just selected a few of the features that we have. It makes it much easier for students to pass their exams. All past question papers on JAMB, WAEC & NECO are included for SSS students. We are also gathering Post-JAMB exams as well. For those that are in JSS, all the past question papers conducted by NECO for Unity Schools are included. For those that are in primary school, Common Entrance exams to Unity Schools are included.

I am sure what comes to your mind when you see this thread is: This fellow sure knows how to brag. What makes him think his so called StudentPerfect is more powerful than the rest? What features does it have that makes it more sophisticated than the rest? If this is what you are thinking, I will say that is fair enough. If the table were to be turned the other way, that is exactly what we come our mind. We invite you to read further. All we are saying is: read with open mind. Let’s go, shall we?
Normal ‘mundane’ features first
TIP: If your time is limited, you can skip these paragraphs and go to the More Exciting Features. To some guys, our mundane features are their exciting ones. As to be expected, it has ‘security features’ yeah, it is password-protected. Before you are granted access, you supply password. There are modules that accept the scores – tests and exams, total them of course and automatically grade. If you are in SSS, it tells you what the grade is A1, B2 etc, and for others Excellent, Very good etc. It generates report sheet. This can be printed.
What about school fees? Of course, it can automatically do the billing. If the student pays, it deducts. The normal accounting stuff. Is that all it does? I can almost hear you chuckling. Trust us, if it were, we won’t label it as powerful. We know other developers will be over the moon, touting it as powerful. We are too cool for that king of thing.

I am not sure you are a software developer. Does it make any sence to have a biometrics? As a software developer, you need to educate your client on the essentials. I don't see what the need for biometrics is for.
ComputersWhat To Expect In Windows 8 by MisterMan(op): 11:01am On Nov 30, 2011
New features of Windows 8
Windows 8 has entered Beta stage and expected to be released next year. Here are some of the features that are new:
1. Windows now supports ARM. Before, it only supports x86 from Intel and AMD
2. A new Start Screen interface has been added that was designed for touch screen input in addition to mouse, keyboard, and pen input. This is based on Microsoft's design language named Metro. The start screen replaces the Start menu, being triggered by the Start button or Windows key, and is also the first screen shown on start up. The user can go to the regular desktop by choosing the "Desktop" tile or a traditional desktop-based application. The Start screen also displays the user's name and picture. This is similar to Windows Phone 7
3. Windows Explorer adopts now adopts Microsoft Office’ ribbon interface.
4. Windows 8 will support multiple monitors with the new ability to natively display different background images on each display and customized taskbar(s) on each of the connected displays.
5. A new Welcome screen
6. A new version of Task Manager with a redesigned user interface.
7. There is a new easy restore
8. Windows Live ID integration: One big change is that user accounts do not have to be local-only anymore but can be linked up to one's Windows Live ID.
9. Ability to create a bootable USB Flash drive (usually called a Live USB) with Windows 8 in it, including the user's programs, and settings
10. Supports a new file system called Protogon. Not much is known about the new filesystem
