Right on point, man. He is my personal hero, so selfless. Imagine somebody worked so hard and gave ALL away. People never realised how hard he worked. He would go to office around 7 or 8 in the morning and would still be in the office 12 AM. I bold it for emphasis. Do you realise the kind of 'wars' he fought, OS war with IBM, Word Processing war with WordPerfect, Spreadsheet war with Lotus, browser war with Mozilla.
God bless you Mr Gates. As this guy has said, he is not a human being. He is an angel in human skin.
Education / NUC Uncovers 100 Fake Professors In Varsities by MisterMan(m): 12:15pm On Dec 03, 2019
The National Universities Commission has said it has uncovered about 100 fake professors across Nigerian universities.

The NUC Executive Secretary, Prof Abubakar Rasheed, stated this in the November edition of the commission’s bulletin, obtained by our correspondent.

The ES noted that the commission published the details of the fake professors on its website and also sent the names to the various universities for verification.

According to the bulletin, Rasheed stated this at the 2019 retreat for Vice-Chancellors by the NUC Strategy Advisory Committee.

The NUC boss said, “The updated version of those documents will be published by December 2019 and professors in their respective universities uploaded their CV on the website which was used in the compilation of the directory. About 100 fake professors also uploaded their details but we detected them.

“This measure helped in identifying fake professors in the system. The fight against fake professors is a collective responsibility.”

The Executive Secretary informed the vice-chancellors of a recent meeting held with the Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, where the latter complained that some corps members’ degree certificates purportedly obtained from some prestigious universities were questionable.

The NUC boss directed that VCs should check the excesses of their affiliated institutions, noting that universities must spearhead the fight against academic corruption which must be tackled by all stakeholders.

The bulletin stated that the committee published a directory of full professors in the Nigerian university system, statistical digest of the NUS 2017-2018; refinement and modernisation of instruments for accreditation of undergraduate, postgraduate, part-time, affiliate, open and distance learning programmes as well as the state of university education in Nigeria 2017- 2018.

Isn't this thoughtless of you. Don't you have feelings for your fellow human being. She was a sister to someone else, a wife, probably a mother and perhaps her parent(s) is\are still alive.

I actually need someone to develop a website for me. I cringe doing business with someone like you. Putting that aside, I desire to give you a chance (that's what you wanted). I clicked and what did I see. What I saw wasn't inspiring to do business with you. Unfortunately (or fortunately) books are judged by the cover. Your 'cover' just isn't good enough. Read my criticism very well and thoughtfully. I don't mean to destroy you but to see how I can lift you by CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Let blood of human sympathy run in your vein. You won't have a second chance to give a first impression. Cheers

Family / Why This Man Who Barged In On His Cheating Wife Could Go To Jail For 15 Years by MisterMan(m): 4:47pm On Jan 21, 2018
A husband caught his wife cheating, and now he’s facing up to 15 years in jail.

Sean Donis’s wife, Nancy Donis, 38, said she was going to dinner. Donis stayed behind to watch their 5-year-old son. When he couldn’t find his iPad, he turned on the Find My iPhone app to locate it.

The software showed the electronic device moving toward an unknown location; he had a hunch that his wife had taken it, and he decided to follow. He arrived at a house and opened the unlocked door. On the second floor, he found his wife in bed with her boss, Albert Lopez, 58. With his iPhone, he recorded two brief videos of them in bed.

The New Jersey man got a letter last July informing him that a grand jury had indicted him on charges of felony burglary and unlawful surveillance for the April 2016 incident.

“I feel like it’s unjust what they’re doing to me,” said Donis, 37, to the New York Post in September. “It’s like I’m being punished twice.”

He appeared in court in September, where he pleaded not guilty. His second appearance happened on Friday.

“I was in fear,” Lopez testified of the moment when Donis caught him in bed with his wife. “I kept telling him, you need to get out of here,” Lopez told the jury hearing Donis’s felony burglary case.

Donis’s wife worked for Lopez as the billing manager for his orthopedics practice.

Lopez said he was so desperate to get the enraged husband out of his home that he asked Donis “if he wanted to die.”

“Kill me. I don’t care,” he said the desperate husband responded.

The incident left Lopez traumatized. “I couldn’t go to sleep. I had repeated memories of what occurred. I started to go through the house and check all the doors and make sure they were locked,” he said.

Lopez also noted that Donis’s wife said they were separated, and he thought Donis was out of the picture.

The husband’s lawyer, Howard Greenberg, told jurors that the husband actually “deserves a medal,” not a prison sentence, for uncovering his wife’s unfaithfulness without physically harming his rival.

“The defendant should be given a medal for the amount of restraint he showed when he entered that scene,” Greenberg told the jury.

However, despite the fact that Lopez slept with Donis’s wife, prosecutor Nabeela Mcleod asserted that Lopez was a victim — a victim of Donis’s breaking and entering his home and recording him and Donis’s wife without their consent (Donis shared the videos with his wife’s relatives). He now faces a possible maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

Warren Buffe was so happy about Bill's decision that he scaled up his charity (Warren was then No 2 richest man)

In news that will either gladden or enrage non-billionaires everywhere, Bill Gates has revealed that he would rather not be the world's richest man.

"I wish I wasn't ... There's nothing good that comes out of that," the co-founder of Microsoft told a conference of online advertising executives in Redmond, Washington, where the software company has its headquarters. "You get more visibility as a result of it."

Education / Re: JAMB And The Politics Of Cut-off Marks By Reuben Abati by MisterMan(m): 5:25pm On Aug 29, 2017
Thank you very much Rubby for telling us what actually happened. It is gladdening to note that it was actually the Heads-of-School that decided on this particular policy and not JAMB. As I do tell people that cared to listen, that policy somersault means little or nothing to students. The only thing it means is that it brings more money into the coffers of the schools.

Take for example, University of XYZ. Their carrying capacity is already fixed, say 200. Let's say, initially, for cutoff mark of 200, 750 students are qualified and form costs 1K and we assume all the qualified purchased form. That brings 750K into its purse. Now cutoff is reduced to 120 and now we assume 3000 qualified. All the 3000 purchased form. How much will University of XYZ earn. 3 Million! Compare that to a mere 750,000. And you still have capacity of 200.

A lot of things are really wrong with our education system. The main problem is exam cheating. JAMB is the ONLY hope we have. We must all rise and defend the integrity of JAMB. Forget the As you see in WAEC and NECO, and not to even talk of NABTEB. Please when I say this, I don't mean there are no genuine ones, but the system has been terribly compromised. ANY honest WAEC and NECO examiner will attest to the kind of mass cheating going on in our schools. You see principals running around to ensure that his\her wards cheat during the exam, actively bribe the willing invigilators. It is that terrible.

Check the syllabi of WAEC and IGCSE. Little differences because of regional needs. Go to any institution abroad and tender the two, they will prefer IGCSE to WAEC, not because one is inferior to another, but the process of conducting them are so different. Really, we have a long way to go

That 30 digit code in ur email alert can never be faked.

Those transactions re legitimate by you or ur relatives.
It is foolhardy to think your atm digit isn't known by ur wife.
A bank staff can't know ur wife's number.
Bank staff can't go thru customers detail anyhow. Customer care can but they re always logged in and tokened. Making it traceable. No one can initiate 737 without ur phone.

I know they steal 1 naira for gtb to gtb transfer. But now I know it's vat
Look at the bolded. I am not trying to convince you but for you to expand your thinking horizon. My number is one of those PURPORTEDLY recharged. Why will somebody recharge my number without me getting the credit? Ask yourself what is the essence of that? Fraud can take many shape.
I am NOT here to convince you or trash GTBank. If this thread makes you to be more careful and makes your money to be safe, I have achieved my aim and that is the important thing.

I concur with you that it is foolhardy to think that my wife doesn't know my ATM number, yet the fact is she does not know. My other line (the one I am using to browse now) is also 'recharged'. She did that also. Why? For what purpose? The number of times my number was 'recharged' is more than hers and my other line are 'recharged'. For your information, I have my degree in Computer Science. Things do happen indeed.

I never ask you to move your money out of GTBank, did I? The important think is for your money to be as safe as possible by not relying too much on the INSECURE *737#. By the way, are you a customer of GTBank and do you use *737#? If you answer yes to the two questions, then by all means check if you are affected by searching for Airtime Purchase on those numerous email they sent to you. You are not doing it for me. If you are not affected, I thank God for that and be more careful, that's all. If it affected me, it COULD affect you, but I hope that it will not affect you but mere hoping is not enough. Bro you said you didn't get alert. What of the email alerts you are showing. How did the person know your personal phone contact which happens to be your wife? I'm very sure an outsider, especially a bank staff can't know this if he or she isn't your relatives. What was the response when you went to complain? What seems to be happening here is that someone is recharging his or her line through your account and deletes the SMS alerts immediately the transaction is completed. Cause on a good day, for you to get an email alert, you should get SMS alert too. Bro check well... .
When I said I didn't get alert, I meant SMS alert and NOT email notification. If you do any banking transaction, where will you expect the alert? You first look for SMS alert before thinking about email alert. The truth is, a lot of fraud is going on in the banking industry. The truth is; when I read your response, I smiled knowingly. You know what, if the situation were to be reversed, I would think EXACTLY the way you are thinking.
Let me explain once more. Somebody somewhere is stealing my money by PURPORTEDLY recharging my 2 lines and my wife's line. I have never bought credit with my account, but I suppose SMS alert would have been sent based on the fact that ANY transaction done on your account would be reported to you via SMS. In this peculiar cases, NONE was sent. Why would they not send alert? It is simply because somebody somewhere is trying to hide the transactions.
How did they get my number? That is fairly easy to guess. It is the REGISTERED phone line that I use with the bank, so if I type *737# with that line, it doesn't take Rocket Science to figure how they got the line. They also PURPORTEDLY recharge my other line. How did they get hold of that one? It beats me. How did they get hold of my wife's line. I can't figure it out.

Babs24:
What seems to be happening here is that someone is recharging his or her line through your account and deletes the SMS alerts immediately the transaction is completed. Cause on a good day, for you to get an email alert, you should get SMS alert too. Bro check well... .
Good thinking but faulty one. I live in a 3-bedroom flat with a wife and 4 children; the 2 eldest are teenagers, ready to go to higher institutions. I confiscated the line because it was 2Go every time, so they don't have phones for now. When I went through the records, some of the transaction times were as early as 7 am when I am with my phone in my bedroom, beside the bed and switched off. It couldn't have been any of my family members. That is for sure.

Morning Nutase.
I know I have been super careful in my bank dealings. I don't do online(computer) banking. I don't do banking on my smart phone. In fact I use an old "dumb" Nokia touch phone for my GTB transaction (*737#). See photo. How careful can this get? I don't even use my ATM card. It's tucked away in my safe. I just memorized the last four digits of my ATM card. I have never lost my "Nokia touch" phone. I mean, I think I have been super careful knowing that my business transaction are done on this GTB account.

Now Etisalat have my photo and finger print. How can someone else use another SIM to swap my number if not with an insider at one of their experience centers as they are called?

How can a bank use the last four digits of an ATM card as a pin with no option of changing this default pin? I know guys working in the industry and it's possible for a not-so-high ranking staffer to see an ATM card number on finacle.

Bro, how have I been careless?
Fraud everywhere. I want to relate my experience to buttress what Postemail said. GTB insiders have been using *737# to scam me. I am also very careful, never lost my phone and it is always with me. What puzzles me (and what makes me think it is insider job) is the fact that the phone lines recharged are my lines and my wife's line. One of the statements is Airtime Purchase USSD-101CT0000000000162100009-234813534XXXX, I suppose that 101CT0000000000162100009 is transaction code of some sort while 234813534XXXX is my scrambled line. On another occasion, here is another transaction: Airtime Purchase USSD-101CT0000000000223987938-234814050XXXX. 234814050XXXX is another of my line and another of the transaction is 101CT0000000000199185413-234803886XXXX where 234803886XXXX belongs to wifey. It is not an issue of someone close to me recharging behind my back. Can I defraud myself and still come here to raise issues and surely it is not my wife.

KingsleyTMTTM:
oga go and consult ur bank, it's prolly sum1 is using the acct all the person needs is the last four digits of ur debit card... i ve been using *737 for more than a year, and to be honest there might be a few glitches atimes, (like you may want to topup and they will double the amount and at times u may nt receive the airtime) but i think is actually the best banking channel.

CuteTj:
Are you sure someone close to you isn't the one behind this theft? As that person close to you knows that's the line you registered with and also knows your password...
Absolutely sure

Well the first step in unraveling who is behind this is to formally Lodge a complaint at GTbank.

These transactions started immediately when I used the service to transfer money.
If it happens to me, it could happen to other people out there. Is it too much for people out there to cross-check their transactions? Because you did not get alerts does not mean something fishy has not been going on. I never got alerts, so it must be insider job. Simply log on to your email and search for Airtime Purchase

dominique:
I use the service a lot and I'm yet to have issues with it. The charge per transaction as well month end deductions are something else tho
It never hurts to double-check anyway.
Consider this: Let's assume there are conservatively 500,000 people using this service. Now the smart guys deduct =N= 100 from each of those 500,000 customer each month. Individuals might not notice because, hey, let's face it, =N=100 is not likely to be noticed by individual customers, but then do the Maths. 500,000 * 100 equals =N=50,000,000 each month. Remove =N=50,000,000 from an account. It will be very obvious, but take =N= 100 from 500,000 customers. Nobody notices. It is that simple.

So fire up your email and search for Airtime Purchase. Is it that difficult to do? Remember, Ignorance may not be bliss after all.

There are 2 simple ways to do this. Any transaction that takes place you will be notified through the e-mail you supplied. My secure email address is Yahoo!, so simple log on to your email and search for the word: Airtime Purchase. If you have been duped using this channel, you will know. Alternatively, use the Internet Banking platform. On the left pane, click on Transaction Details, enter 100 for amount (that is the common figure they deduct and enter the date, let it be months apart. This will expose the nefarious transaction if any.

I used the system for the first time on June 19th of this year (2016). I have used the Internet Banking platform to transfer money before then, and on that day, because there was poor internet service and it was rather urgent, I decided to use the *737# service.
On that day, I transferred 2K to someone. Since then, GTB folks started using the service to remove small amounts from my account. On that day(I did not notice until months later), there was a transaction on my account which says:
Airtime Purchase USSD-101CT0000000000162959679-234813534XXXX
NOTE: XXXX is used to scramble my line
But, I never used account to purchase airtime. One curious fact is that the transactions started immediately after I used *737# to transfer, so there is insider job abuse. One thing I know about GTB is that any transaction that takes place, you will be notified through SMS, but this never happens with this type of transactions. I never received SMS alert; perhaps this is peculiar to airtime purchase because I never did purchase airtime through the channel.
Ever since that day, day have been deducting my money. If you used *737# to transfer money, you are likely going to be affected. How do you detect if you are affected. Foreign Affairs / Taking Out The Bastards (A Sharpshooter Killed A Top ISIS Executioner, 3 Others) by MisterMan(m): 4:05pm On Sep 13, 2016
A sharpshooter killed a top ISIS executioner and three other jihadists with a single bullet from nearly a mile away — just seconds before the fiend was set to burn 12 hostages alive with a flamethrower, according to a new report.

The British Special Air Service marksman turned one of the most hated terrorists in Syria into a fireball by using a Barett .50-caliber rifle to strike a fuel tank affixed to the jihadi’s back, the UK’s Daily Star reported Sunday.

The pack exploded, killing the sadistic terrorist and three of his flunkies, who were supposed to film the execution, last month, the paper said.

The ISIS butcher — who reportedly delighted in burning hostages alive — had been on a US “kill list” for several months, sources told the paper, which did not identify the sniper or the executioner.

He and his band of wicked men had been traveling around ISIS-held compounds in Syria slaughtering civilians labeled as spies.

Their prisoners were tied to stakes or thrown in cages before being torched by the executioner, according to the report.

ISIS started using flamethrowers after the torture method was popularized in North Korea.

The ISIS killer was so feared that his victims would beg to be shot rather than be set on fire.

Just before the sniper rescue operation outside of Raqqa, Syria, “the SAS team moved into an overwatch position above a village where they were told the execution was going to take place,” a source told the Star.

“Up to 12 civilians were going to be murdered — eight men and four women.

“The executioner gave some sort of rambling speech . . . then when he finished, the SAS sniper opened fire,” the source said.

The captives were then rescued by British and US special forces.

The rescue comes just months after another SAS sniper killed two ISIS car bombers as they drove toward Libya. The sniper’s bullet went through the driver’s skull and into the passenger’s neck, taking both out

...I came here only because of your excellently simple explanation of the CBN's naira float policy. Please consider going into perhaps financial-blogging i.e. making all these economic/financial jargons easier for the common man to understand. Thank you in advance for heeding my advice sir. Lol.
Exactly the same reason why I checked his posts. His explanation about the INTERBANK rate was right on point. I also concur about writing more on Financials. That is where I think his strength lies

I can't make anything out of the last picture. How come the man was burnt and nothing happened to the building and the car nearby. That setting is FAR from the scene of the accident. And it seems what I am seeing there (where the corpse is) is something like flood which is completely different from the real accident scene. That can't be petrol or diesel or else the whole place would have been in flame

RIP to the dead

I just can't explain how some people reason. In my area where I live, there are Ibos, Hausa etc. What makes you think yhe driver is not from your village? What makes you think the burnt man is not Ijaw or Hausa? So if there is bomb blast in Kano, you think it is only Hausas that will die? Where I stay (I stay in Oro, Kwara State). There is a popular joint called Ofor (or something like that). If this accident happens there (God forbid), so it automatically affects a Yoruba person. The biggest patent medicine is called Chuks and you can guess it is owned by a man called Chuks. Youths of these days are something else. You should grow up. I am sure you are older than my last kid. She would not talk in such an arrant nonsesnse the way you do (by the way her best friend is a girl called Queen from Benue. Perhaps the way you talk reflects your upbringing. Honestly. you are a disgrace to Nigerian youth. There is this nice guy who served in my company. His name is Vincent. He is such a fantastic fellow. He is a youg person like you. Common. grow up. While I pray for him to become president of this country, I will never wish you to become a school principal,

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: S by MisterMan(m): 12:09pm On Dec 17, 2014
She has very good grades. Getting job shouldn't be too difficult. Seems she is doing one thing or the other wrong. Wish I could give her a job. However, I can help her in sending her resume. I will help her in writing the resume, however, I will need her number and e-mail address. I don't to leave my email or number here for obvious reasons. Please log on to our website: www.getemployedquickly.com?source=helpnojob&website=Nairaland
Get our contact number and call. As I said I need her phone number and e-mail address
How can I help? The company I work for is into this stuff. They have a website called getemployedquickly which from the name you guess what it is all about. We act as aggregator, looking for jobs all over the internet and print media for vacancies. We put this in our database. We also have a database of applicants. So we match applicants with available jobs, craft high-grade and targeted resume and then send, together, with cover letter to the employer. A copy of it is sent to the applicant. It is fee-based, but I will help her in paying for the service.

Let her quickly send those two items and send as SMS. All the other information will be gotten from the resume. All she needs to do more than ever is to hone her interviewing skillsI wish her well. We have some technologies which she will benefit from. We have ResumePerfect which helps in generating first-grade resume. We also have ScamGuad and ScamAssasin technology; which help in eliminating scam jobs. You will agree with me that the menace of scam jobs is alarming. God bless you my sister

New method? You made me laugh. It is an old trick. Very old trick
Citytab1:

N400 X 10people= N4000 per day. Not too bad for someone who is jobless.

That was exactly what I wanted to post. Get =N= 400 and sell it for =N= 350. Multiply that by about 100 people. That is about =N= 35000. That is a tidy sum of money
