Onnoghen should have cut a deal from the beginning and resigned. This matter would have been swept under the carpet without his dirty linen being washed in public. But no, he was listening to SS governors and Nairaland internet keyboard warriors that told him not to appear before the CCT. He was depending on Nairaland bruce lee's and Chuck Norris to come and save him. Until the case crossed the point of no remedy, now see where it has led him, and now all of the Bruce Lee internet warriors have disappeared and no where to be found, ordinary Jackie Chan sef he no see. You see this life |

Again? Our public officers neither have the fear of God nor compassion for their country. Just like we found out pre-election that Peter Obi invested Anambra state funds into his family's brewing business during his time as Governor. If this were America, this would fall under misappropriation of funds and it's a federal crime that attracts jail time. But this is Nigeria where anything goes, where those in power award contracts to whomever they want, giving undue advantage to their own people over others. They should enjoy themselves while it lasts. One day, one day, everyone would stand before God. |

tommyken: There is truth in what you said, why is no one talking about fuel importation which is the root cause of the problem..I have this feeling that there is a cult of big personalities comprising of our politicians and business barons running this cartel of importation of fuel.what do you think. Of course there is. The biggest mafia in this country is the oil importation mafia, they are so big and so powerful that they even held the government to ransom for years and dictate its policy. They are so powerful that the government can't confront them. They are the biggest economic problem this country has today. They slowly rose to great power since the time of IBB as military ruler but even then, they were mainly lobbyists, but today, especially since our new democracy with OBJ began, the oil mafia have become so powerful to the extent that they are literally running a shadow government of their own in parallel to the elected government and our people are so enslaved they can't even see the chains anymore. Everything you said is true. We need to wake up in this country. You cannot expect freedom from the same people that enslaved you in the first place. But what do we have, we have majority of Nigerians shouting Atikulate and Febuhari on social media and in the real world. Smh! We are so deep into oppressor worship, we don't even see anything wrong with it. Something is seriously fundamentally wrong with the people of this country. |
Politics › Re: Marketers Ration Petrol, Lock Gates Against Motorists In Lagos, Ogun by MobilityExpress: 7:17am On Apr 12, 2019 |
tactius: No, NNPC cannot make enough money to keep our refineries in good shape because they import oil , sell it to marketers below the market price, and then get paid the difference between the market price and cannot make a profit.
And the corruption and sabotage happens because when you are not making money, you look for sly ways to make money.
If subsidy goes...all the sabotage and corruption will end. Because....continuing with that would make things worse for them (unlike now where thanks to being a government company they get free money whatever happens).
And of course...there is foreign investment, more profits and more jobs (Those cabals would EARN MUCH MORE under subsidy removal)
And eventually, prices would come down.
Win, win We have no business importing oil under no circumstances. There is no justifiable reason to allow it except massive corruption that benefits only the elite. Our government ran down all the 5 government refineries in this country, and yet all this while never encouraged or mandated the private oil businesses to build refineries. The money the oil marketers have been running to import oil for decades now, that money could have built many refineries across this country, but no they don't want to be oil refiners, they wanted to be oil importers because that's where the corruption is, that's where they can make huge money and turn to overnight billionaires. That's why you have to respect Dangote so much, he chose to do the right thing, even though he could have easily joined the band wagon of petroleum importers and subsidy receivers milking this country dry with the oil importation business. |
Politics › Re: Marketers Ration Petrol, Lock Gates Against Motorists In Lagos, Ogun by MobilityExpress: 6:59am On Apr 12, 2019 |
tactius: We are importing oil because subsidy prevents profits being made...and fuels the sharp practices like smuggling and inflation.
If prices go up, profits are made...which attracts more investment leading to more refineries...BUILT WITH PRIVATE MONEY....and the government saving money instead of spending it on subsidy...and which leads to prcies crashing.
Everyone benefits. No, we are importing oil because they sabotaged all our refineries to stop producing optimally. We are importing oil till today because after some elite crooks tasted the oil money and it was mega huge, they knew they had found the new jackpot, the new goose that lays the golden egg, that will make all of them billionaires. And it did, the oil importation business made many of the elite billionaires. Check their history. Nigeria is a big mess. We worship our oppressors. |
