CodeLagos does not require anything. They don't even want you to be a programmer. And you only work on weekends. The pay is between 15 and 25k depending on how much work you do. You'll also be posted to a school close to your place of residence.

You are only frustrated and you seriously need to start thinking outside the box. I'm also in your shoes but mine is "just" four months but I'm already working on a lot of things.

In case you're interested in being a programmer, you can register at Switch.ng. You'll answer some questions once your approved and would be invited for an interview.

If you pass, they'll train you for three months before interning you at an IT firm for another three months. Thereafter, they'll get you a job at an IT firm in exchange for a part of your salary for one year. Don't take my word for it though, I cannot remember some of the details properly and I'll advise you to read through the site.

There is also CodeLagos. Go to codelagos.org and click on the "become a facilitator" button. You'll be taught programming and would be contracted to teach others. It'll pay 15-25k per month and you don't need programming experience to apply.

You can run both together. the Switch.ng training is on weekdays (9-4) and they'll give you transport allowance and free lunch during your training while CodeLagos is a weekend job.

Don't mind the blockhead. The DSS use Tavor 21 and FN 2000 bullup assault rifles. Both use the 5.56x45mm round as shown on that bullet casing. That round is rarely used by other security and military agencies.

Every president is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of his country. Every president is directly in charge of the armed forces of his country but not the police, customs, immigration and other paramilitary agencies. These agencies have more autonomy from the president. They are also led by people already in the system and not outsiders.

The appointment of Ali is more of a political move than an anti-corruption move. The same thing too with whoever is in charge of NIMASA. These are professional organizations for God's sake. The Customs is more than just revenue generation.

If the presidency was so concerned about stopping corruption in the Customs, then they could have installed Ali as the head of whichever organization oversees the Customs, just as we have the Police Service Commission overseeing the police.

But bringing a non-Customs officer as the head of the Customs has been taken too far.

Would the same government appoint a non-military person to head any of the three arms of the military because they are corrupt?

The answer is no.

The Customs should not be under the supervision of an army officer.

Whenever you read some sort of senseless posts you conclude suffering in this country is well deserved else how would anybody with a functioning brain insist an organization that has fallen into extreme corruption insist people within such an organization be left to head it? Ex CG under corruption probe ex NIMASA boss convicted of corruption.

Irrespective of how corrupt the customs is, it can still provide non-corrupt officers to lead it. Is the Army not corrupt? Is the police not corrupt? Are the Air Force and Navy not corrupt? Is EFCC not corrupt? What of NNPC, the father of corruption? Are they led by outsiders?

We should always learn to follow th rule of the law. If the customs was a new organization and an outsider was brought to lead it, it would have been an entirely different story. But a functioning organization with decades of existence? Forget it.

The customs should be led by a customs officer and not an ex-Army officer.

I visited an award ceremony organized by the Ships & ports communication company (which delivers news about our shipping industry) towards the end of last year and one of the issue they raised was that of this retired army colonel heading the customs and another about someone not in the system heading NIMASA.

These two organizations, most especially the Customs, are professional organizations that should be headed by people in the system.

From what I learnt, the colonel knows nothing about the customs and is only interested in revenue generation.

A good move. How can a non-Customs officer head the Customs. It is an insult. Can a non-military officer head the Army? Even a non-combatant army officer cannot even head the army not to talk of a non-Army officer. We need to use our senses when making appointments and learn to respect the constitution.

Before anything else is done, the concerned student should be severely punished and expelled. Her name should also be forwarded to the state ministry of education so she can never be admitted into any government school in the state. Private schools in the state should also be informed so they can know who they're dealing with if she ever goes to their school for admission.
