Politics3 Policemen Killed At A Station In Kaduna by Mobsync(op): 1:26am On Aug 21, 2013
KADUNA — Gunmen Monday night attacked a police station in Kajuru town, about 35km South of Kaduna town, killing three policemen, injuring others before setting freeing all the inmates in the station.

The heavily armed invaders, were said to have launched the attack at the police station at about 11:30p.m.
Two policemen were said to have died on the spot while the third victim, who was among two others who sustained injuries, died on the way to St. Gerald Hospital Kaduna.

It was learnt that the policemen on duty at the time of the attack were overwhelmed by the superior fire power of the attackers and had to escape but three of them were felled by the bullets coming from the sophisticated weapons of the hoodlums.

Some of the policemen were said to have disguised as suspects in the cell by pulling off their uniforms while others managed to escape to the near-by bush.
One of the policemen, who survived the attack but chose not to disclose his name, told newsmen that, “the gunmen came in many vehicles and started shooting sporadically as they arrived the police station.
“We were not many and we couldn’t stand their sophisticated weapons. They killed three of our colleagues; an inspector and a sergeant were killed. Three of our colleagues sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital in Kaduna. A female police officer died on the way to the hospital.

“They (gunmen) came around 11:30p.m. and they operated for about one hour. It was the mobile police team from a different location that saved the situation; otherwise they would have started attacking residents of the town.

DARK clouds have gathered over the fortunes of the health sector yet again as workers of all Federal tertiary health institutions nationwide, under Joint Health Sector Unions will embark on an indefinite strike from 12 midnight today.

In a statement issued yesterday, the unions noted that the strike was called at the expiration of a 21-day ultimatum issued to government on the August 1, to accede to the10-point demand and agreements reached on May 10, 2012.

The statement was signed by National President and Secretary-General, Medical & Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, and Mr. Marcus Omokhuale, respectively; National President, National Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and AssociationInstitution, Mr. Adeniji A. and the Ag. General Secretary, National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Mr. Yusuf Badmus W.

It said members of the unions at the states and local governments health facilities are expected to join the strike as from 12 midnight by August 28.
Recalling the events that led to the current face-off, the unions pointed out that at a meeting called by the Minister of Labour and Productivity on Monday, August 19, neither the Minister of Health nor his representative attended the meeting.

They also recalled an earlier meeting, where itwas resolved that items agreed upon required the action of the Ministry of Health on or before May 29, 2012, to allow the Technical Working Group commence its sitting.

patin48hrs: Are you stil lonely?
Yes. Are u interested?
Nairaland GeneralAdvantages & Disadvantages Of Living Alone by Mobsync(op):
5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD.

(1). You don't become lonely
When you have a roommate you always someone to talk to and hang around with. You rarely get that funny feeling that makes it seem you've been placed under some sort of house arrest or holed up in a fortress.

(2). You get to split bills, chores and tasks
Rather than living alone in an uncomfortable abode because you can't afford to pay for something better; with a roommate, you get to live in a better environment and simply split the rent. You also get someone to share the house chores and tasks like with.

(3). You have someone to call for help and support.
You're going for an early morning interview and have no transport fare; you need to purchase some important stuffs and you've got no money; you're coming home late and need a hot place of food on your table as soon as you get home and what else? A roommate's the best bet.

(4). You could make a very good friend and build a lifetime relationship.
Beat it! Top executives, multimillionaires and all other "ogas at the top" today probably had a roommate at one time or the other in their lives. And if you were a "good" roommmate during the period of habitation, I don't think they would think twice before repaying you.

(5). There's someone around in case of emergencies
Imagine you slipped in the bathroom and fell into coma or you get knocked down by a heavy bout of malaria or fainted after falling dizzy; fact is, there's a higher possibility of you getting help when you have a roommmate as compared to when you don't.

5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULDN'T.

(1). You lose your privacy
You can't sleep naked, you can't spend a full hour in the bathroom, you can't sing with your coarse voice in the bedroom, you can't watch indecency, masturbate and freely do all other wierd stuffs you love doing. Fact is, your privacy becomes lost the moment touch begin to cohabit with someone else.

(2). Your roommate could be pretty annoying and have downright disgusting manners.
Have you ever found yourself in a situation whereby you get to leave your bottle of perfume in a certain position whenever you're leaving the house? Or you have to hide your wallet in totally absurd places? Or put a very small piece of paper in your milk's tin lid? Or have to hide your towel in your luggage all because some self acclaimed roommmate's doesn't know that some things are not meant to be shared? Or you've ever lived with someone who spits on the bedroom floor, urinates in the kitchen sink and uses the toilet without flushing? Well, if you haven't, it's only a matter of time- except you live alone.

(3). Your roommmate's might gossip, backbite and tell people private things about you
You bedwet, wear an underwear for a month, bathe once a week and brush your teeth only on Tuesday mornings? You really ought to be careful if you've got a roommmate, especially if the roommmate's a female shocked (no offence meant) cool. Your roomie could tell people all these and even feign lies all in a bid to keep a conversion with a third party going or simply because he/she's damned irritated.

(4). You could be made to pay for your roommmate's crimes
I once lived with a guy who stole a mobile phone from a fellow housemate only to abscond when things went awry. At the end of the day, I almost got arrested if not for the simple fact that I stood my grounds. But for the keeps, others have suffered police detentions, jailterms or even death for crimes committed by their roommmates.

(5). Your roommmate might become dependent on you.
When you live with some people, you might suddenly find yourself footing all bills, funding all meals, purchasing all items and carrying out all basic house chores that you begin to start wondering why you aren't even living alone in the first place. It's either your roommmate lives WITH you or lives ON you. If he/she lives with you, fine; but if he/she's lives on you, RUN.

CultureRe: Do You Believe In African Bullet Proof? by Mobsync(m): 3:20pm On Aug 15, 2013
This topic reminds me of a nollywood movie I watched some years back when a herbalist did a "bullet proof" charm for a man by putting a tortoise round the man's neck. The herbalist then proceeded to test the charm by loading a gun to shoot the man who either stupidly or because that was how he was told to act in the script stayed and kept staring till the herbalist finished loading the gun and aimed. The moment the herbalist shot him (only one shot ooo, with a local dane gun for that matter), he fell down and died. cheesy cheesy cheesy

BTW, I don't believe in it.

PoliticsRe: Lagos To Introduce Bicycle Lanes by Mobsync(m): 7:24am On Jul 30, 2013
Lolaabokoku: In its desire to reduce the number of carbon emissions and also complement other mode of transportation.
Lagos state government is set to inroduce bicycle lanes along some roads. Kayode opeifa, the state commissiner for transport, mentioned this last weekend at a cycling event dubbed 'park and ride' organised by victoria island based COOL FM. On air personality, Mannie. 'The bicycle programme is on and pretty soon you will see some roads in lagos marked as bike zones. What is the alternative to okada? 'It is the bicycle' said the commissioner. Discouraging the use of commercial motorcycles for short distances, he appealed; anybody who wants to take a bike from their house to the bustop should use their bicycles and when they get to the bustop they should tie their bicycles to the pole provided at the bustops and join the BRT buses. The poles we are providing at the bus stops are not for decoration but for people to tie their bicycles'. he also pointed out, addind that the bicycle riding also has health benefits, besides reducing carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
'All over the world from london to stockholm to buenus Aires, people now ride their bicycles to work because it saves the environment of the gaseous emissions that are harmful to the environment'. Park 'n' ride is a yearly event designed to inspire the public to park their cars and ride bicycles in a bid to address climate change and improve people's lifestyles..
Culled from (The island news)
While the policy's commendable, would it work? I would rather trek to a bus-stop than take a bicycle there to tie up.

Secondly, lagosians don't usually use motorcycles for short distances. They use it for long/medium distances that are blocked due to traffic congestion.

I think we need better policies and not this because I'm very sure the bicycles would get stolen. Abi no be Lagos we dey?

I once worked at a filling station and I can tell you that small change is scarce. Besides, the change are usually needed for business as no one wants to be stranded when they need it for customers. Finally, some people change fake money. Someone once attempted to change fake money from me @ the filling station back then, so some of them might simply been taking precautions.
IslamRamadan To Occur Twice In Year 2030 by Mobsync(op):
The first ramadan would begin on January 6 while the second would begin on December 26. I don't know why but I think it's because of the disparity between the Islamic calendar and the Gregorian calendar which have 360days a year and 365/366 days a year respectively. Even I myself noticed that ramadan has been coming up the calendar cos there was a time it used to begin in November then October, September, August and now July.

Here's a sample of a calendar I got from a Jordan website (please don't mind the labour and independence days; they're for Jordan and not Nigeria) @ http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/?year=2030&country=44

Holidays and Observances:
1 Jan; New Year's Day
6 Jan; Ramadan begins
5 Feb; Eid-al-Fitr
14 Apr; Eid-al-Adha
19 Apr; Good Friday
21 Apr; Easter Day
22 Apr; Easter Monday
28 Apr; Orthodox Easter Day
1 May; Labour Day
4 May; Muharram/New Year
25 May; Independence Day
9 Jun; King Abdullah's accession to the throne
13 Jul; Muhammad's Birthday
22 Nov; Al Isra' wal Miraj
25 Dec; Christmas Day
26 Dec; Ramadan begins

felucci: That's a nice sum to invest in blogging and I think if channeled properly, you will be able to make up to 100% ROI within a year.
However, for a new blog, certain things are more important. For instance:

- Content. You need to pay writers to make a lot of posts for you and at about N200 per post, you can get 2500 posts on your blog.

Once you have a lot of content, you can then wait to see how it converts for your business over a period.

After Content, then other things you can do to keep running your blog is to :

- Get subscribers
- Use online advertising
only a hungry writer would write for him for such ridiculous amount...
