FamilyRe: Advice Needed: Prepaid Meter Or Estimated Billing? by modernWays: 8:47pm On Dec 08, 2023
SUPERPACK:
Why is your freezer and fridge always on? Why not plug in when the level if coldness drops to a certain level. Only the power rating for the two when used for 8 hours daily is about 22 Kilowatts-hour, which using my current bill is 20×49 naira per kilowatt. So roughly #1000 per day for these 2 alone, they are energy burning devices. I don't know much about prepaid but the unit cost was almost doubled January this year. I see you paying more with prepaid by my extimate, unless you change your appliance to DC rather than AC.
Freezers should be on 24/7 if you don't want to lose the foods inside. This is Nigeria where you cant be sure of 24 hours power supply or when the power source would be faulty.

@op, with what you listed in your post, it is better you stick with your estimated bill. Units are very costly now, you will spend nothing less than 40k on prepaid. Monthly.

D best way to stop dis migration madness is for Europe to ban African lawmakers and their families from accessing healthcare, education and other good essentials abroad... So dat we will develop our country and continent, if not they've not seen anything yet oh

All dis bans won't work, Nigerians will always find a way
Yes, I agree with this 100%, but western countries can't do that because they need Africa to boost their economy. Their economy can't survive withiout cheap labour from Africa and India.

The reality is that no single soul in Nigeria has the interest of our country at heart. We keep blaming our leaders but forgotten those surgeons, Nurses, top financial and IT experts that suppose to build their country but left because of personal gains. Both politicians and masses has something in common, which is greed or quet to accumulate wealth.
PoliticsRe: Cost Of Living In Nigeria Is Cheaper Than UK Or US by modernWays: 10:33am On Dec 04, 2023
Winnin009:
What costs exactly?! Lol. Is it fuel? It’s just as expensive.

Is it light? I can categorically tell you that you pay more here because you pay in several occasions and don’t even see it.

Is it water? You genuinely think it’s cheaper to dig a borehole than pay for water running from the government?

Or is it security? Or rent? Rent in Nigerian cities are just as expensive as any major city in the world.

So what exactly makes life cheaper? Because you can cut corners once in a while? Lol.

You do know those corners are why our society is like this? Nations that don’t cut corners have a working system to show for it.

So once again; what makes life cheaper here?
Many Nairalanders are indeed battling with comprehensive issue, reason I hardly reply some people here.

Read the last paragraph in my previous post, I said "it is cheaper for those who has tasted both side but expensive for those living and earning in Nigeria". You don't expect someone who pays about $1000 per month for apartment in US not to see 1m apartment per annum in Nigeria as cheap. For instance, if you want to live in a decent apartment in New York, rent alone will chop off about 40% of your income per month. Other utility bills may chop off another 40% if care is not taking.

Whereas in Nigeria, if you don't live pass tour level, you can comfortably pay your rent with 3 months salary at most, which is about 25%. But that doesn't mean Nigeria is easy for low income earners, because alot of people in this category cannot live a decent life like those earning minimum wage abroad, which I had clearly stated in the post you quoted.
EventsRe: Why Don't Bridesmaids Spray Money? by modernWays: 2:19pm On Dec 03, 2023
They simply don't have money to spray. Women spend alot on themselves, so they are often broke or in need of money. They also have a mentality of "I must receive and not spend on anybody but myself and probably my children".
PoliticsRe: Cost Of Living In Nigeria Is Cheaper Than UK Or US by modernWays: 5:59am On Dec 03, 2023
How many times are we going to tell people that food is the cheapest thing abroad. It is the way their societies being designed, the logic is , if you can comfortably feed yourself, the tendency to steal or commit crime will significantly reduce.

Aside that, cost of living in Nigeria is way cheaper than in Western countries to those who have tasted both side. Nigerians living in Nigeria can't afford to live a quality lives with their wages or salaries.

You can't cheat the nature, because that is the way they were designed by nature to function . Men too were designed same way, reason you can't be comfortable with your wife feeding you.

Contrary to people's believes, women are peaceful, and are very easy to control if you show them love(fake or genuine). They always want to be on a safer side, and once you can give them that, they will give you peace.

Meet Prince Ekaladerhan of Benin, popularly known as Oduduwa
Go and read the history book 📖 there was a prophesy that a man will come from foreign land to save ife from the great Oyó Empire.

Ikaladeran the crown prince of Bini who left his kingdom with his full entourage was found in the forest of ife by hunters in his full regalia

He was taken to the town and treated with respect and given a warm welcome, it was then he said “Izoduwa” meaning “I have reached home” they didn’t understand what he said because he was speaking Bini language. So all they heard was Oduduwa and that how his name came about.

He helped them win their freedom from Oyo empire and was made king afterwards, he got married and had children. Many years later he was asked to come back and rule his people, he refused because of the dispute he had with them that made him leave in the first place.

After much pressure he told them he is already an established king in ife with wives and children that it’s imposible to leave so he sent his 7th son Oromiyan to rule in his place because he was the only son not married as at then. As the Oba of Benin MUST marry a Bini princes.

Before now the kings in Bini kingdom are called Ogiso not Oba, Oromiyan who came to the palace through Useh was given a wife by the leader in Useh community under Bini kingdom.

Oromoiyan refused to be crowned Ogiso he said he prefers the name Oba, he later left because he felt the kingdom was too violent and warring, fortunately the wife he was given was pregnant, she gave birth to a male child who became the first Oba of Benin and not Ogiso of Ighodomighodo which was the real name .
Where did you copy this useless article? I have read more than 10 history books, there is no where I came across what this ignorant person is spewing here.

Have you seen any bearing your African names?

How successful are people in South America, India and the likes you mentioned?

Those bearing the names above have links to these continents (mixed parenthood)

Seen any without DNA affiliation bearing these names except for Nigerians worshipping foreign names?

Rewriting your whatever history starts from embracing your identity.

Who are you if you are asked?

Are you what the colonizers tagged you or you're what your forefathers called you?
I've answered your questions in my last post, you are the one that don't understand.

I will repeat, sometimes people chose or borrow names, not because of their identity or origins but for the value attach to it. There are many reasons people do that, the question of their identity or origins means nothing to them but value that will be gain in chosen them.

So is this same with what we do here?

You guys won't even answer another tribe's name within your country.

So how's this same with the question I asked?

Seen a briton answering Segun before or a french being called Mulema?
I said ESPECIALLY among them. There are many Caucasians bearing south American, Australia and India names.

No one will do that for Africa, until your continent re-write her history and be among meaningful countries in the world. People borrow names, not because of their meanings or origins but because of the value attached to it. Besides, it is human nature to associate with success or the best, you don't expect people to chose/borrow names from poverty striken societies over a well recognised societies in the world.

Acidosis:
You want them to bear Ayo, Chinedu, and Adamu so you can use tribalism to finish their destiny?

If I have my way, I will avoid all native names from Nigeria's major tribes (Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa).

A Mark John is more likely to get a University admission from any Southwestern University than a Chinedu. A Jenifer Confidence is also more likely to get a job in Igboland than a Nurudeen Ayoola.

Y'all pathetic decendants of racists and losers will preach one thing and do another.
You are so right, having a neutral name give you an edge anywhere in the world.

Besides, Nigerians like making big things out of nothing. Europeans and Americans too bears names from other continents, and no one feel inferior about it.

Eradicate states and deals directly with local governments that is very close to people. States governments is a mere waste of resources, this is where Nigeria is getting it wrong. The crooks may not do a single project in 1 year withiout anyone knowing or questioning them.

Local governments are very close to the people, the administrators are mostly emerged from the same locality, people knows them in and out. Ordinary people, landlords associations, professors, trade unions, and many other local organisations can easily go there and demand for their right. Give this billions to local governments and see accelerated development within six months.

Eradicate states now before they send us back to stone age.

Wike that vow and chase Amechi out of PDP. No one ever sees it coming. Don’t worry, the greatest mistake of APC is drawing Wike close. That guy is serial betrayal and parrot. Don’t worry you will soon know what he’s capable of doing
I've been pragmatic enough with my submission. I gave you a practical reason why he is not likely to betrayed APC, and never by emotion.

1. With inclusion of oppositions in Tinubu government, and his personal approach to politic, it will be very difficult to stop his second term bid.

2. Power is returning to the North in 2031.

3. North is not likely to support another southerner in 2027, who may eventually spend another 8 years and keep them off power for 12 years. They would rather wait for another 4 years than giving another southerner their votes.

4. Even if all political parties merged together, they will likely give their ticket to a southerner, and the north may not buy the idea. If they give it to a Northerner, the Southern political heavy weight will feel cheated and align with their own.

All this must have been careful thought out by Wike before accepted Ministerial position from APC.

You don’t trust a betrayal. Someone who betrayed his party is now trusted by APC. Let them pray they don’t have any misunderstanding because Wike will spit fire as usual
Wike is not likely to betrayed APC, having know that it is not easy to stop a leader like Tinubu from getting his second term, and presidency is going back to the North in 20131. Asides that, the only sure way for him to stay powerful is holding on to federal power. A tough person like Wike with federal backing is more powerful than many state governors.

Africa are given 9 slots, and we have 6 groups of 6 teams in which the winner from each group automatically qualified. So 2nd position in these groups will go for play off to seal the remaining 3 slots.

Besides, there is no way eagle will not win some matches. S. Africa we all have been hyping could even be a work over, just like Cameroon and Algeria during 2018 wc qualifier. Football is not a mathematic, you can never write them off base on performance of two matches.

Oyinbo are not like this.

They are actually more "stingy" than us. Their stinginess originates not necessarily out of cruelty but borne out of ignorance.

I had a distant cousin who my dad took to America when she was 7. This was a girl who only spoke the Ondo dialect. She's now an army doctor and even served in Iraq. She'll soon be 50.

Though she is grateful, she has never sent a dime home to my dad as that is not the culture there. Her mum may send money to bring all her 3 siblings to the States but that's her mum's culture.

Look at Barack Obama. I doubt he helped any of his kin to America. I doubt he did anything for Kenya. I doubt if he helped any set up businesses. I would die of shock if he sends monthly remittances to up to $200 to two of his relations.

If I earned half of what Mikel Obi was earning, I'll set up at least 20 of my relations. If any still fail, at least I know I did my best.

My dad, despite a lean purse, assisted many people. He hoped as he helped one branch of the family, they would help their immediate sibling. It worked for some but failed woefully for others.
No, if you go to Western countries particular USA, you will see how generous they are to their societies. It were Nigerians that went there to hustle that might be stingy to you, not whites.

I was generally speaking about supporting our society by making the wealth go round. Anytime you raise up this argument, people will start saying entitlement mentality as if they know who you really are for real.

You are not being objective... Europeans are not more magnanimous than Africans. Abeg, kill that nonsense from your head.

Are you aware that Africans, especially Nigerians are regarded as the Begging Bowl of the Universe??! DO you know what that implies??!

Do you know what Entitlement Mindset means??! Do you know how many of our people refuse to wake up and do creative things just because they believe those older than they are and succeeding will bankroll their lives?!!

Most Nigerians beg a lot! Airport Staff, Police, Army, even Clergymen, young ladies, guys, etc... Corporate begging has taken off in Nigeria... Do you see such abroad??!

So, don't just attack those who work hard and succeed, and keep to themselves... What about the ones who think or believe wealthy people should compulsorily cater to their needs and even greed??!

This is the genesis of the nation's economic problems: SUBSIDY!

This same entitlement mentality made states do nothing creatively to attract investors and boost exports... Everyone demands cheap commodities and a tax-free existence.

The consequence of such handouts (Subsidies)??! Well... Look at your nation's debt profile.

I have relatives far wealthier than I am, and the only thing I ever tell them is Hi... I never begrudge them their money or resources no matter how infinite they seem. I have way too much dignity and self-respect to stoop that low.
My message has nothing to do with entitlement mentality but act of giving. A man who is processed with "heart of giving" will never complain or accuse those looking up to him as liability, he simply do when he has. I had first hands experience about what I was saying. Majority of free foods, and other packages you received for free from government, organisations snd churches in Western countries are not only provided by government but individuals like me and you. I know some whites who donate over 30% of their income to charity from every pay check they received. Infact, there is this sister who doesn't have a child of her own but donate 50% of her every pay check to child support program . The beauty of it is that, they do it quietly and hate been notice.

If you have and don't pay back to society, you are only teaching others how to keep it all for themselves too. This altitude started by some people, and will continue like this until fellow human will need ordinary water to survive, and a man with big ocean refuse to help.

I have done a lot for humanity in my own little way, even to those I came across on Internet. I believe if you can't help those around you, there no way you can help a larger society. That is why we don't produce good leaders in this part of the world. A leader who embezzled everything and threw his citizens into abject poverty did not just start on his own, it was how the society molded his way or thinking.

People don't keep wealth, they consistently donate certain percentage of their incomes into various program and charities withiout being forced. They help their family members where it necessary. A leader must live by example, your son, daughter and wife are part of you as leader. Weah is not the kind of leader any functional society should adopt, he is so stupid to the extent that he even went to watch his son playing for another country with his full support, while his country national team still needs alot of talented players to even qualify for AfCON.

Infact, this should be treated as treason.
