StacieG:
We both have similar profile. I studied Electronics & Computer Engineering and graduated with 3.28. Some universities don’t check your final grade, they are more particular about your grade in the last 2 sessions. My 400 & 500 level results were 4.65 and 4.81 respectively
You can try Dalhousie but getting their admission letter is more like applying for TRV. In fact Proof of Fund is a must and you have to show you studied Fourier analysis or any software related course in the past for the programmer I applied for though. I have Comptia N+,CCNA and CCNP Certifications too
Are you a student at Dal? Or are you applying there?

IslamRe: Copyright Laws: Making Unpermitted Copies Of Books With The Intention Of Study. by Mofpearl: 5:05pm On Nov 03, 2018
Thanks for the explanation.

Got one more question
There are different types of (western) copyrights that authors use. For example, some allow students to make photocopies but don't allow instructors to use it to teach. Similarly, some allow people to photocopy as long as it isn't sold while others may just simply state all rights reserved. Knowing that different types of copyrights exist and every author can choose from them (deciding how to use their copyright), can Muslim students who buy books under the western copyright make photocopies of their books (for personal use) knowing fully well that if the author doesn't explicitly state that the books can be photocopied, it usually means that it isn't allowed?

1) Q: Is it haraam to photocopy parts of academic reference works for study purposes, knowing that the high cost of these books is the reason for photocopying? If a person copies them in order to make money, is that haraam?

A: Praise be to Allaah.
It seems to be the case that copyright belongs to the authors and to their heirs after they die, and that there is nothing wrong with photocopying or copying it out by hand for personal use, not with the intention of selling, so long as the owner of the copyright has not expressly stated that copying for personal use is not allowed. But if it is copied for the purpose of selling it and trading in it, this is not allowed. Continue here

What about this?

This also seems to be the view of The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta'

2)Copying programs when their copyright owner does not license it.

A: It is not permissible.
Here
And this too. The question was straightforward, asking if it was permissible to copy prgorams when it breaches copyright laws

So if the copyright says copying things for personal use isn't okay then a person can still go ahead to copy it? Isn't the book and the copyright both the author's property?
I will be waiting for the fatwa.

“The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to teach his companions to make istikhaarah in all matters, just as he used to teach them soorahs from the Qur’aan.
He said: ‘If any one of you is deliberating about a decision he has to make, then let him pray two rak’ahs of non-obligatory prayer, then say: Allaahumma inni astakheeruka bi ‘ilmika wa astaqdiruka bi qudratika wa as’aluka min fadlika, fa innaka taqdiru wa laa aqdir, wa ta’lamu wa laa a’lam, wa anta ‘allaam al-ghuyoob. Allaahumma fa in kunta ta’lamu haadha’l-amra (then the matter should be mentioned by name) khayran li fi ‘aajil amri wa aajilihi (or: fi deeni wa ma’aashi wa ‘aaqibati amri) faqdurhu li wa yassirhu li thumma baarik li fihi. Allaahumma wa in kunta ta’lamu annahu sharrun li fi deeni wa ma’aashi wa ‘aaqibati amri (or: fi ‘aajili amri wa aajilihi) fasrifni ‘anhu [wasrafhu ‘anni] waqdur li al-khayr haythu kaana thumma radini bihi (O Allaah, I seek Your guidance [in making a choice] by virtue of Your knowledge, and I seek ability by virtue of Your power, and I ask You of Your great bounty. You have power, I have none. And You know, I know not. You are the Knower of hidden things. O Allaah, if in Your knowledge, this matter (then it should be mentioned by name) is good for me both in this world and in the Hereafter (or: in my religion, my livelihood and my affairs), then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if in Your knowledge it is bad for me and for my religion, my livelihood and my affairs (or: for me both in this world and the next), then turn me away from it, [and turn it away from me], and ordain for me the good wherever it may be and make me pleased with it).”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari in several places in his Saheeh (1166).

It all depends on if the author gives permission to copy for personal use or not.

FamilyRe: How Many Of Our Women Hope To Be Richer Than Your Partner ? by Mofpearl: 4:19pm On Nov 01, 2018
eyinjuege:
Have you done any study which says women don't want to be more successful than their partners?
Why are you projecting your own thoughts/ feelings on the millions of women?
Why would you have a partner that doesn't wish you success?
We pray for each other to be successful, and a wife/husband's success is the partner's own success too. It should never be a competition between partners on who is more successful, and each should strive to help the other attain the highest possible pinnacle of success.
There are many families where the women are the breadwinners, and they are still living happily with their families and still supporting their men to achieve even better success. That's what a good spouse does.
Same with a successful man who still pushes his wife and helps as much as he can for her to excell and succeed in life even more than himself.
That's a good spouse we should all hope to have
Well written

As long as I am earning my own money and doing my own things I don't care how much he earns. There is nothing wrong with a man earning less than his wife. Comfort is what matters
HealthRe: Please Help! How Do I Get Rid Of This Growth On My Wrist by Mofpearl: 1:30pm On Oct 28, 2018
Looks like a ganglion cyst. It might disappear on its own. If it really bothers you, you can have it drained (might regrow back) or surgically removed ( might still grow back).

Rashduct4luv:
I remember one night in camp when the officials chased us to the field around 10pm or so. Some of us were stark naked managing to "tie" only wrapper to the field! And this include ladies! Imagine a sister being hurried to the field at the time while she might have slept and maybe nude?
Is this a normal process at camp or was it like a punishment?
