Betochy: I called graduate studies they said I should speak to department. I have been calling department for 2days straight, nobody picks (voicemail) starting from 3pm Nigeria time till 12am. Pls who did you call in the computer sci dept that answered you I called the community health science department because that's what I applied for. Call the program adminstrator and if possible, speak to your supervisor. When you were reccomended for admission, you recieved an email from the program administrator ( I suppose). His/her details will be in the signature of the email. You can also check the department website. Check the time in Halifax before calling. Avoid calling during lunchtime. I am not sure if they are asking you to take a course but speak to them with alternatives that you already came up with. It will make their decision much easier. If they are placing conditions, they think you need it. You now have to explain why you don't need it or what you have put in place to meet the conditions. If it's a course, maybe you can suggest that you take it there at Dal. Hope this helps. |

Betochy: I was given a Conditional offer for master Health Informatics fall 19.
Although I have sent emails to them asking for waiver. No response yet Who else encountered this problem and how did you address it.
Can I apply for SP with a Conditional letter. Do I need to get English as a medium from my undergraduate university.
Pls those going to Dalhousie kindly reply I was given a conditional letter too but I had it waived. For me, they asked me to take a stat course prior to starting. The course online was 30 weeks and I was advised at the Vsf office to meet the condition of my admission before applying. If I complete the course before applying for my visa, I won't get enough time. Since I had already taken a stat course and I arranged to audit the graduate stat course at my university, I wrote to the program coordinator regarding my situation and they re-orded my admission letter without the condition. I called and emailed as a follow-up. I recommend calling Dal instead of emailing. It's quicker and you can speak to the person directly. |

JustMellow: IELTS test score stays valid for 24months. So your IELTS score of 4yrs ago is totally invalid. To your question, the answer is NO since you don't have access to a new test score and given it can't be accessed, it can't also be assessed.
BTW if you select yes, you have to provide a valid test score which I guess you don't have access to. Thanks. Thought that might be the case but wanted to confirm. I think I am good to go now. Wish me luck. |

JustMellow: it would be sage if you get your official transcript since by the time of your application, the state of result might not be present. You can still make it by April/May. My final opinion sticks with my previous assertion. Hope it was clear?! Yeah, it was clear. I should enter student as my employment and part time job as previous employment. Thanks a lot. |

JustMellow: Before I hint at a contributive suggestion, I will like to ask if this is your first application? I will be drawing my suggestions from a three way perspectives of considering:
1. If you is a matured applicant(age) 2. The period you've been working PT(work experience) 3. The research project conducted, was it done to achieve your first degree or academia research purpose.
The reason I ask about point 1 and point 2 is to have a clear picture of how you managed to undergo point 3(especially if the research was for academia knowledge) then I can sum up my suggestions.
BUT a quick chip in to your question in a general view as a fresh UG student, in filling the employment section if it was me, i would state myself as a student(citing a start date - end date) likewise stating your PT employment as a voluntary internship(citing a start date - end date). CV isn't a compulsory document but it gives clear insight of your work experience(and conferences, voluntary services/work, seminars attended etc) to the VO. It depends on how you relate your work experience that would/should determine its inclusion.
if your statement of result/certifications isn't ready prior to when you apply for your SP, you can approach your school's exams and record for an "authenticated official transcript and letter addressing the completion if your program, likewise an authenticated letter from your HOD(if necessary)" whilst you support with an explanation in your SOP. Thank you!!!! Yeah, this is my first application and I am soo lost. I worked part time for a year on a research project. It wasn't connected to my first degree. I was just interested in research. However, the program I was admitted to is research intensive. I also currently work as an administrative assistant whixh I have been doing for over the past year. My university can't provide any type of transcript for me as they aren't authorized to do so. I study at a branch of an international university and all transcripts come from the main campus. I can wait till the end of April so I can apply without my official transcript but I am scared there wont be enough time. |

Mofpearl: Hello,
I have a question regarding filling out the study permit form. So, I have finished my program but convocation is in June. I work part-time at my university and I have also previously worked on research projects at my university. My question is, How do I fill out the employment section? Do I put student or my part-time positions in the employment history? If I do enter my part-time positions, would I need to submit a CV with my application? @justmellow, any ideas? |

You came on visit visa on March 18 and went for robbery on March 20,Later UAE will make their visa more difficult for Nigerians. We are just too corrupt. Are we the only Africans that is suffering?? Exactly what I was thinking. |

JustMellow: I understand the feelings and stiff position but base on the excerpts of the details of your interview, it didn't seem so critical, but I fully comprehend the anxiety to perform.
Please don't jump to the ground so you don't get bruised up and hurt your morale in the process. The outcome of it all might just come surprising to you like a flashlight at the end.
Stay abreast and be optimistic. Since you ain't so positive about your Plan A, as you drag it along with uncertainty also begin to get your Plan B underway. Wishing you the best, you will smile last last. Thanks a lot! Appreciate it. |

JustMellow: What went wrong? I prepared for hard questions and they asked me really simple questions and I couldn't fully explain my research interests. Then they asked about statistics and I realized that I did not meet their statistics requirements. They asked about my community research experience which I mentioned that there are limited for students at my uni but I have academic research and I have sought community research experience through internship and environmental scans. And finally, I ended by interrupting the speaker from the Admission Committe because she misunderstood my questions and was informing me about funding! I didn't want them to think I couldn't pay for my fees. |
