I know... #catchy title eh! grin With the Navy building defence boats and refurbishing NNS Andoni, Airforce and Army Engineers fabricating rockets pots and Building UAVs, our defence industry can only get stronger and more robust. There's still a long way to go, but I think we're headed in the right direction. https://www.skyscrapercity.com/images/smilies/beer.gif

In a move to consolidate the gains of building the first indigenous warship in Africa, the Nigerian Navy is to commence the construction of a new 38 metre Seaward Defence Boat (SDB). The Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Dele Ezeoba has given his consent for the commencement of the warship. In the same vein, the design for the project has been approved by the Naval Headquarters.

Rear Admiral James Boer, who made the disclosure of this tremendous feat yesterday at the NNS BEECROFT parade ground, during the first anniversary of NNS ANDONI- the first indigenous warship built by the navy-said the international certifications by relevant agencies have begun. It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan had on June 1 2012 commissioned a 31metre Seaward Defence Boat at the Naval Dockyard in Lagos.

Admiral Boer, who is the Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dockyard Limited, added that NDL was in the fore front of technological breakthroughs and innovations in the Nigerian Navy. He further stressed that NDL is diversifying efforts into various aspects of activities that would include marine construction and fabrications in the maritime sector and the offshore operations of the oil and gas industry.

abagoro: Some of you act like all is rosy in Akwa-Ibom roads like we are not the ones using them. The road that links Uyo to East-West road is not better than these roads shown here true or false? Meanwhile this picture is from the Oron you asked me to visit.
My point is, if the State Government wants to carry out road construction; be it rural or urban roads, then just make it worth-while...not a shaby job of simple asphalt and compaction (that will be washed off within 2 rainy seasons) - but with good stone base level and crush before asphalting, talkless of absence of pedestrain lanes and closed gutters with slabs. That road in Oron (as depicted) was constructed during the era of military administration. If it needs to be reconstructed, I'll yearn for a better job that'll be durable.

Do you have a picture of the aforementioned Uyo - East West Road? That would be in Ikot Abasi handled by NDDC, not the state govt.
PoliticsRe: Road Show: Enter Gov. Okorocha’s Imo State - May 2013. (photo News). by mojounited(m): 6:35pm On Jun 12, 2013
Whatever is worth doing, is worth doing well. Those pictures are a disgrace...

abagoro: Akpabio has not constructed any single intra-community road . He has focused mainly on inter-community roads and major roads. What Rochas is doing is going further than just connecting communities but touching the inner parts of the communities. These kinds of roads are called NDDC roads and expected to serve limited traffic.
You'd do well to visit Abak, Ikot Ekpene and Etinan (with recently completed roads among those commissioned last week) before making assertions you're not sure of... Even some areas in Oron and Ikot Abasi have intra-community roads completed by Akpabio's administration.

NIGERIAN SCIENTISTS LAUNCH ROCKETS
By J.K. Obatala
GUARDIAN NEWS
16 November 2008

OFFICIALS at the Centre For Space
Transport And Propulsion (CSTP), Epe,
Lagos State, have made a startling
revelation: Nigerian Scientists and
engineers have, for the past two years,
been building and launching experimental rockets – without foreign
assistance.

Coordinator of the Centre, Mr. Oluremi
A. Fashade, told The Guardian last
week that at least nine test-firings had
occurred. The rockets are launched from a testing range near the Lagos State University, adjacent to the Lagos Lagoon.

For the first time ever, Fashade, an
engineer, talked openly about the
Centre’s formerly top secret rocket
research, which is being carried out
under the auspices of the National
Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA).

Among other things, he said that the
Centre would, in time, graduate to
bigger and more complex craft, capable
of launching satellites and eventually
humans into space.

He said that the NASRDA was acquiring a new launch site on a remote island in
the Atlantic, to accommodate full-sized
space vehicles. http://beegeagle./2013/04/30/world-exclusive-made-in-nigeria-rocket-launch-at-the-centre-for-space-transport-and-propulsion-propshenry-a-beegeagles-blogger/

austinkenneth: Those ghost workers must have been employed by one of our presidents - Jonathan ,Yar'adua, or OBJ.

Apart from disengaging them, we need to understand the process that led to them being in the system in the first place and they should be made to refund all monies collected, all the pats ministers, HOD, etc should be held accountable
How can one even imagine ghost workers being employed by the President? The risk involved with the pocket money that's to be realised from such a petty move is chicken change - a risky move that can easily be unraveled when there are other coordinated means/avenues/deals that the President can implement to 'chop' better money. Some of you are just unimaginable...

In this kind of issue, look no further than the Head of Service of the Federation, Ministers, Permanent Secretaries or HODs of the various ministries involved... #Not everything has to do with the President. In example, The recent subsidy fraud by Oil Marketers - likely Coordinated by Petroleum Minister, senior NNPC staffs, Nigerian Ports Authority staffs, etc. Another example is the Pension Fund fraud

PoliticsRe: Akpabio To Commission 30 New Projects, Flag Off Others by mojounited(op): 7:30pm On Jun 05, 2013
Abagworo: Akpabio cannot build industries. It is left for the Akwa-Ibomites in diaspora to come home and invest. Akwa-Ibom today is experiencing huge capital flight because of Julius Berger handling most of the contracts. More than 80% of the money leaves Akwa-Ibom to Lagos and Abuja. The vehicles and materials used in construction are bought from other States or imported while the high salary earners in JB live in Abuja, Lagos and abroad.

As a start he should try and increase local content at least in the inner rural areas to alleviate poverty.
The last picture of the completed road project I posted on the first page was done by a local indigenous contractor. Same applies to the internal roads of Akwa Ibom Polytechnic which is depicted in the video. Much still has to be done though, but I think the present administration have laid and are currently laying a solid foundation...
it's very wicked and mischievous to continue to mis-inform people of things you know nothing about . As an indigene of AKS and also a resident of Uyo am compelled to correct some lies you have continuously peddled about this state.

first and foremost, you have repeatedly lied TROPICANA is an abandoned project and it has consumed 75billion . This is a big fat lie. I am a resident engineer on that project and will state here that the total cost of the TROPICANA is 33 billion and the total amount paid out is about 20billion . this project consist of a 6 screen cinema , a mall, a 14 floor hotel, a 3500 capacity convention center , a theme parks , road networks in the 82 hectare area with drainages.

currently , the cinema had since been completed since 2011 and is currently in use and managed by Silverbird .

The structural framework of the hotel had been completed and it's now the hotel managers come in to select the finishes for the hotel . Just last week the government signed an agreement with Hilton , this means they are now commencing finishing works.

the rides for the theme parks are being installed after being fabricated abroad and shipped to site. all the supporting buildings in the park have been completed.

The mall is currently at 80% completion with only the tenants left to identity interest and the shop front glass will be installed.

already the roads and drainages are being constructed by Julius berger and the main underground drainage crossing the site had been completed and buried .

the piling works at the convention centre was completed earlier this year and work is currently on the 1st floor level.

i will attach pictures to buttress all i am saying and i challenge you to prove that TROPICANA is abandoned.

Due to incerase in scope of works, inflation, and modernsizing some designs/ equipments, there have been variations in the contract cost and to accommodate this, the government extracted the road and drainage works and included it in the 3rd ring road project, therefore keeping the contract cost of TROPICANA still at 33billion
Quite insightful. cheers man

Akpabio To Commission 30 New Additional Projects

TO mark the 2013 Democracy Day and the 6th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, and the state government yesterday said it would commission 30 new additional projects. The Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, disclosed this while briefing reporters in Uyo, the state capital. Umanah said a total of 30 projects covering roads, bridges, housing and recreational facilities would be commissioned by Akpabio.

The commissioner noted that the uncommon transformation of Akpabio’s government has created a new consciousness amongst Nigerians and global citizens in their perception of an Akwa Ibom person, thus raising the mental infrastructure of the people. His words: “It is an acceptable fact that the six years of Governor Akpabio administration has led to infrastructural renaissance. In the area of road construction, the present administration has built not less than 320 new roads covering not less than 1200 kilometres. “These include five federal highways, 28 new bridges linking communities and five new flyovers at strategic locations in different parts of the state. “The administration has acquitted itself creditably in the social contract he entered into with the good people of the state even with the promise of doing more for the people.”The commissioner admitted that the governor has honoured his covenant with Akwa Ibom people with unprecedented achievements recorded in different sectors of the economy.

Ochek: Lemme ask. How old is this video?
You really think America would come out to brag about what them got in them arsenal? Hahahaha. Just engage them and get shocked.
There's nothing to be shocked about! Russia currently has the best and most sophisticated air defense systems (SAMs) with their new S-400s - which covers over 100km of airspace and has the capabilities of jamming aircraft radar, tracking and engaging multiple targets from more than 20km. They're even selling their old S-300s to Syria and US/Israel/NATO are making noise, what would happen if S-400 SAMs were to be deployed?

The real question you should be asking: Why has the US/NATO/UN not threatened Russia with sanctions like they'd do to other smaller nations? Example: US threatened to sanction Nigeria if we purchased weapons from North Korea during OBJ's regime and we folded like bats...lolz #Go figure
