PoliticsRe: Which City Has A Better Night/liesure Life. Owerri Or Enugu? by mojounited(m): 4:40am On May 04, 2013
Chuksgeo: enugu is no where near Owerri in terms of night life, Owerri got the buzz, the crowd, and more importantly it is very acessible by a host of other cities like PH, Onitsha, Aba, Umuahia and Okigwe
^Supported! With FUTO, Nekede Poly and IMSU, as well as all the Owambe I witnessed in Owerri few years ago, you'll not lack reasons smiling to the bank... grin

#NIGHT LIFE HINT:
Owerri is to Lagos (rugged/bustling with all-out flexing) as Enugu is to Abuja (classy with reserved flexing) cool

Jobs/VacanciesRe: What Course Would You Not Advise Anyone To Study? by mojounited(m): 5:44pm On May 01, 2013
[s]Mechanical Engineering - Trust me, as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you'll be a potential candidate for engineering job roles such as Marine, Subsea, Materials, Aerospace, Process, Chemical/Petrochemical, Eng. Design, Mechatronics, Oil & Gas, Piping/Structural, et al. It fits into nearly all spheres of engineering.

Sometimes, I do wish I studied Mech. Eng.[/s]

Most of us knew this all along, it was just a gimmick and fallacious attempt by those boko haram sympathizers (known as local officials) to draw attention from international community. In the BBC news below, "The Red Cross has backed local officials who say the figure is higher but they have not been into the town." - which begs the question, HOW WAS THE RED CROSS ABLE TO ASCERTAIN THE NUMBER OF DEATHS AND HOUSES DESTROYED WHEN THEY NEVER SET FOOT INTO THE TOWN (BAGA) AFTER THE INCIDENT??

By the time the fictitious news hit the air/internet, the Military had simply restricted people from immediately entering the town for a basic reason of damage control...but normal activities was restored afterwards. Now that the dust has settled, where is/are the (mass) graves? Can the red cross show us photos or video evidence to elucidate the damage done? #yada yada... angry

Baga clashes: Nigeria army seizes heavy weapons

Nigeria's army has said it seized rocket-propelled grenades during last week's fighting in Baga - believed to have been one of the first times Boko Haram has used heavy weapons.

It says 37 people were killed, while others maintain at least 185 died. The army says 30 members of the Boko Haram Islamist group, one soldier and six civilians died. The Red Cross has backed local officials who say the figure is higher but they have not been into the town.

An army statement said three rocket-propelled grenade launchers had been recovered, along with bomb-making material. The previous most deadly incident of the three-year Boko Haram uprising came last year when at least 160 people were killed in co-ordinated bomb attacks in the northern city of Kano.

The group is fighting to install Islamic law in the predominantly Muslim north of Nigeria.

Baga: Defence hqtrs challenges Borno State govt

No mass burial in domain

Responding to the enquiries of the team, the District Head of Baga, Alhaji Babagana Zanna, who was also accompanied by the Local Government Chairman Alhaji Kone, maintained that he had not received any report of the said mass burial in his domain. Also responding to the team, the Chairman, Kukawa Local Government Area, who was earlier quoted to have given some figures, said he was not in the town during the incidence and as such does not know the number of civilians who died in the incident”.

Exxonmobil Signs Agreement On 500MW Power Plant

Ejiofor Alike, ThisDay, 24 Apr 2013

Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPN), operator of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and MPN Joint Venture, has signed a Seller’s Representative Agreement (SRA) for the Qua Iboe Power Project, located at Mobil’s Qua Iboe terminal in Akwa Ibom State. The proposed power project includes the construction of a 500megawatt-capacity power plant as well as a 56-kilometre transmission line connecting the plant to the national grid at Ikot Abasi, also in the state.

MPN’s General Manager in charge of Public and Government Affairs, Mr. Paul Arinze, said in a statement last night that the signing of the SRA was “a critical part of the overall commercial framework that enables MPN to undertake power activities and facilitates the sale of power by MPN to Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc for itself and on behalf of the NNPC.” Also speaking on the agreement, the Managing Director of Mobil Producing Nigeria, Mr. Mark Ward, said the project “is a tangible demonstration of MPN’s commitment to Nigeria and supports the president’s priority of providing electricity to the country.”

According to the statement, Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for the project had been concluded, while commercial tenders for Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) were near completion. Mobil Producing Nigeria awarded the Front End Engineering Design contract for the project in September 2009 and performed the ground-breaking in March 2010.

FEED is the conceptual process of development and design for large industrial projects such as power plants.
The Power Plant will provide 330kV export power to the national grid.
OP, below is the map of Akwa-Ibom, can you please show us the development in other places lipsrsealed
That's a rather dumb question. The topic/thread is about Uyo and not Akwa Ibom State in its entirety, albeit the OP mistakenly posted pictures of Ikot Ekpene - a mistake I understandably acknowledged as the OP is not from Akwa Ibom.

Kindly open another thread for your question or, better still, leave your comfort zone and hop into the next flight/bus going to Akwa Ibom...if you're that curios
