PoliticsRe: President Jonathan Commissions Goodluck Boulevard In Uyo by mojounited(m): 11:21pm On Aug 17, 2014
Emphasis: I don't know how well you know Uyo and the location of the Boulevard. I expected you to criticise the Boulevard illustrating your facts based on the Project location. You seem not to know Uyo well enough.

The Boulevard, aside from its Aesthetics (which is a vital part of every infrastructural development) is not designed to serve as an Amusement park. That Boulevard located along Abak Rd (Olusegun Obasanjo way) was primary designed to ease influx and outflow of traffic from the IBOM OLYMPIC STADIUM under construction.
It's also to decentralised traffic from the city centre.

It's strategically located such that someone going to the stadium from Abak, Oron, Itu, Ikot ekpene etc doesn't have to pass through the city centre. If that's not a PURPOSEFUL DEVELOPMENT that solves problem, then i guess you're not talking about the Boulevard in Uyo. I'm an Architect too, if I must mention
Succinctly put. Below is a backdrop pic of the boulevard depicting Ibom Stadium Complex

NYSCRe: Benefits Of Being A Platoon Leader by mojounited(m): 11:21pm On Jul 03, 2014
Rdduite: Please Sir, for someone like me that can't play band, will there be a training?
@Rdduite, yes! You (and those that have registered interest) will be trained on how to play a particular instrument (trumpet, tenor, bass or snare/side drums) in camp. But I hope you're a fast learner as there'll be few days (Maybe 4-5 days) of training prior to screening... I must admit it won't be easy as you'll have to know, based of your type of instrument, how to play a full military parade, consisting of: Colour party, 3 General Salutes (police commissioner/road safety marshal, military commandant, fanfare for governor/president or their reps), National Salutes (National and NYSC anthems), Inspection, Slow and Quick march, etc. Might not be as difficult as I make it seem, but if you pass the screening, you're 100% going to be posted to the state capital...
NYSCRe: Benefits Of Being A Platoon Leader by mojounited(m): 9:09pm On Jul 02, 2014
Depends entirely on the type of NYSC staffs and Military Personnel in camp; If they're good/kind, you'll be privy to a bit of key info in camp but you'll have to use that to your advantage - it might not necessarily influence your posting (PPA) though, ELSE you'll benefit Nada, zilch, zero, shimkpain! Best bet, join the NYSC Musical Band in camp - you'll enjoy both in and out of camp. Why you may ask? NYSC Band is the ONLY military arm of ALL the CDS' in camp and the soldiers really respect the band boys as long as you guys can play well during parades and salutes)...I was a member of the band and we used to sit with soldiers in Mami to have fun. You can even leave the useless afternoon lectures on the pretence of going to service/repair the band instruments in time for parade cuz those khaki boys don't joke with parade o. Outside camp, all Band members are ALWAYS posted to the state capital (NYSC State Coordinator will need you guys for National Salutes during NYSC functions in the state so there's no way you'll be posted elsewhere) #My two pence

Demdem: Those within the industry and those living within kolo creek knows Nestoil is currently working in making sure gas from kolo creek is passed into SOKU. I have no material evidence if that is what u are looking for. U will have to get down to the creeks and get ur info the same way I got mine.
@Demdem, I had the opportunity to work for a key contractor (won't mention company's name) in SHELL's Gbaran Ubie Integrated Oil and Gas Project and according the contract agreement and scope of work based on detailed project technical specification, Gas from NAG/AG wells (Etelebou, Kolo Creek, Zarama and Koroama wells) via various pipe/flowlines are gathered at Sokou Manifold and routed to the Central Processing Facility (CPF Site) in Gbaran for processing before being exported to Bonny/NLNG Terminals.

Hence, gas being passed into Sokou Manifold is SHELL (Client's specification) and has absolutely nothing to do with the Presidency or who/whatever you were pointing to...

According to sources, some PDP governors and members of the National Assembly have approached the APC for some partnership and political collaboration, including joining the new party.

It was gathered that the governors and National Assembly members believe that APC can offer more to Nigerians.

It was learnt that the potential members of APC have tabled some terms which the Progressive Governors Forum will look into alongside the Interim National Executive Committee.

The terms were not immediately known last night.

HNosegbe: I was actually hoping to hear about rail links from the port.

How efficient is it to keep carrying heavy goods by road?
It is still at developmental phase, I think a rail link project would be too immature at this stage... Albeit it's a good idea that requires early planning, I don't foresee Ibaka port experiencing too much activities as there's Onne Port in Port Harcourt, hence there'll be lesser traffic and vehicular activities on the proposed road. Meanwhile, the revamped or proposed standard gauge rail tracks for the eastern part of the country will be extended further, either from Aba - Uyo or Port Harcourt - Uyo, which would make it easy to construct rail link to the port. Source below:

Jonathan has promised to revamp the moribund rail system in the country and to link Akwa Ibom and Cross River states with railway lines. It is not the first time that government has said it would extend railway services to Calabar or Uyo.

PoliticsRe: FG Warns International Community Over Meddling With Nation’s Affairs by mojounited(op):
koruji: In the hands of a more competent individual these actions would make sense, but not in the hands of GEJ.

I have watched over the last week or so as the GEJ goons swooned over his visit to China - some kind of "take dat" to President Obama. You people fail to see the comedic irony, because:
1. GEJ went to China as a borrower, not as an equal partner, but as a "borrower".
2. Who was the Chinese president visiting a couple of weeks before GEJ went to China?

You cannot substitute bravado for wisdom...
Oi listen, I am not here to praise an individual or party... I am only happy that for once the FG have decided not to cow to international pressure but to stand up for Nigerians and what we believe in - our culture, norms and values. My point did not only address the state visit to China, but other diplomacies to shove back pressures of foreign powers where the sun doesn't shine #Did you even bother to open the link and read the whole article before pouncing on your keyboard? It clarifies issues and Nigeria's position on death sentence, gay rights, piracy and crude oil theft by foreigners, Sudanese President's visit, et al...whereby pressure is being applied on Nigeria by foreign powers.

My point is:

*Some states in the US still serve capital punishment (death sentence) to offenders but Human Rights Activists have kept mum only to dabble into our affairs.

*UN has disrespected Nigeria despite being the largest country in Africa on peace keeping missions - Liberia, SL, Dafur, Congo, Ivory Coast, etc. What experience and military tact does Rwanda have over Nigeria on peace keeping missions, that a Rwandan is appointed to lead West African contingent when a Nigerian is there?

*News Agencies keep telling bare-faced lies and reporting trash despite our positives and progress made in fighting against boko haram terror, citing extra judicial killings, Baga mass grave, the military being stretched or not just good enough... How many people have the US killed with drone strikes in the middle east? Haow many has CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera reported?

*Obama was in the middle east to address issues even when war against terror was boiling. Mc Cain was in Syria to support the rebels amidst gun battles more deadly than what we've experienced here in NE Nigeria...yet Obama couldn't visit, citing security issues. Meanwhile, we've been doing US bidding and serving their interest since time immemorial - our support against Al-Gaddafi. The state visit to China was to show that, as the most populous black nation, we can make other allies within a snap of the finger.

So tell me, is it not time we took a stand as a sovereign nation and call their bluff? #Keep your crappy party talk and power tussle in disguise to yourself mate.
PoliticsRe: FG Warns International Community Over Meddling With Nation’s Affairs by mojounited(op): 3:17am On Jul 20, 2013
Recently, GEJ visited China to sign MoUs related to infrastructural development and back-stage Military pact after Obama snubbed Nigeria during his visit to Africa. Also, FG announced withdrawal of Nigerian troops from Dafur (Sudan) and Mali to spite the UN after it appointed a Rwandan to lead the UN African-PKO mission in Mali (despite the fact that Nigeria contributes the highest peace keeping force in Africa and fourth in the world - with vast experience) shocked

Following recent events and from the above, without mincing words, it appears that, for once, GEJ/FG have grown the biggest pair of b@lls in dealing with international politics and will not submit to being anyone's puppet. #Way to go FG cheesy
PoliticsFG Warns International Community Over Meddling With Nation’s Affairs by mojounited(op): 2:58am On Jul 20, 2013

Nigeria would no longer tolerate the meddling of the international community in the internal affairs of the country. This was the warning of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olugbenga Ashiru when he read the riot act to diplomats in Abuja on Friday during a session to address issues of oil theft, terrorism, death sentence, gay rights amongst others that relate to Nigeria and the international community.

The Minister lamented the constant meddling and pressures the international community places on Nigeria especially on issues of death sentence and the gay marriage.

He cautioned the diplomats against making comments on political issues that “amounted to undue interference in Nigeria’s internal affairs.”

“Some ambassadors and their diplomats have been hob-nobbing with civil society groups and opposition parties in the country. This is incompatible with the status of diplomatic missions or agents. We will not hesitate to identify and deal with erring missions that fail to respect Nigeria’s sensitivities and sovereignty” Mr. Ashiru declared.

The envoy urged the diplomats to enable their governments understand Nigeria’s perspectives on gay rights and death penalty. He said the country’s criminal code contains provisions for death sentence for now and review could happen in the nearest future.

“On gay rights, I must stress that this is not in accord with the culture and beliefs of the generality of Nigerians. I, therefore, appeal to the international community through you to show greater understanding of the culture and traditions of our people,” he said.

He warned that Nigeria does not meddle in the business of other nations and should not be manipulated otherwise.
