Health / What Will Happen If All PORNSITES Shut Down? by Moorish: 10:12am On Jul 17, 2021
Will there be more rape? Perhaps a rise in the population?

I believe porn is limiting alot of people tho, me included.

The thing is porn makes you live out your fantasy without actually living out your fantasy; a deception

But then again maybe it decreases infidelity/cheating

Would love to see a world without porn though, just for a worldwide reset, just to see what happens.

Buhari never for once showed this much interest in apprehending the bandits. And did Not utter a word of condemnation against the murderous herdsmen. I feel he is highly tribalized along with all his security chiefs, fighting a war against one section of the country.

I pray Igboho and MNK will come out victorious.

I don’t believe this

They should first fix the corruption in the ports which is driving Agro exporters to other west African countries with more efficient ports

Some of my friends who are into agro exports told me how customs banned all exports from Nigeria at some Point earlier this year because of apparent congestion in the ports (sounds dubious because exports only account for 5% of port space, import is the majority)

The reason they banned all the exports is because they had planned to increase export levies. I know this because they started contacting known exporters unofficially to tell them they can help smuggle thesame banned products like charcoal outside for export, but they will have to pay 5times more in levies. And mind you, in this new arrangement they won’t requit any amount to the FG.

PeaceJoyLove:

What a pity! sad

A Nigerian name doesn't automatically award anyone her citizenship. His/her parents maybe, be he/she may not. There are many of them abroad who aren't Nigerians, and shouldn't claim her. There is nothing like being a Nigerian by blood. A Nigerian is one the day he/she steps around here with proofs and awarded the Nigerian citizenship. How can you call someone who has not step his/her feet in Nigeria a Nigerian. Does not have the Nigerian accent, cannot move around but with fear, does not know anyone here, does not even know much about our culture except what is online, has not held in his/her hands naira, has not done anything in Nigeria. Is that one a Nigerian? This kind of person relates only with the success of Nigeria, but when the negative sides of Nigeria like scamming, corruption, low standard of life come up, he/she disowns Nigeria. Na that person be Nigerian? I have met many of them, and I always say it to their faces. Some are even on Nairaland claiming even tribes of their parents are instead of claiming Nigeria first. They haven't been to Nigeria oooo; yet, what they read online have shaped them. Such aren't Nigerians yet. But they can.

But guess what? I have been able to motivate about 10 people who I didnt know to come and take the Nigerian passport. They love it. They were scared of insecurity, but after their visitation (3 of them), they were so surprised how safe Lagos is. Lol. The way I convinced them is to ask them who knows them? Are they popular? So, if they tell only people who will not expose them they are coming, how will they be kidnapped? They thought about it, and came. I told them not to even let me know. I refused to know. But funny, the 3 of them grew huge trust in me that they had to just involve me. And I was careful. They visited their embassies as they land (first mission) so they can be "schooled" how to behave here. And they realised everything I told them was accurate. They got everything done fast. When they held their green passports, they were so fulfilled. I saw great joy in them. I was proud again of Nigeria with what I saw in them. They have NINs, Bank accounts (naira and dollars), passports, one has told me she is returning for her voters card to be able to vote. I was astonished, but funny, INEC said we can apply online..so, let's see if she will be able to apply.

I am still encouraging many out there who are just Nigerians by name or mouth to come home and pick up the Nigerian citizenship officially. You can be a Nigerian only if you do this. And the benefits are so many I cannot count.

Please, do not tell people in the village you are coming. Also, tell only people you trust abroad, and find one person you can trust. That's all you need. No one will kidnap you if you stay only in Lagos or Abuja, get your stuff done, and check out fast. When you start visiting family members around, or your parents start calling family members to assist you is when you are exposed. So cut off your parents if they are parrots. 2 weeks away from them will not kill you. Cut off anyone who is a parrot, but make sure someone abroad in your base who you trust talks with you every hour. I mean it. Maybe by chat and then hear your voice daily. And keep diary of your tour. Send them to your person abroad. Give the person the embassy contact too. The fellow knows what to do as soon as something looks suspicious. Do your thing yourself, and get out. You are an adult.

If you trust no one, land in Lagos and move straight to your embassy. Tell them your mission and let them know you trust no one and want their support and guide. You will be helped. Trust me. One person did this, returned to the US, and then phoned me after she came. And I was happy for her. Funny, the second visit, she visited me. I did not even expect it as I was not bothered. "Mine is to give suggestions". I dont even want to know.

Goodluck to guys/gals with Nigerian parents out there.
You deserve a position In the Nigerian govt

Ghana dwarfs nigeria in their relations with diasporan blacks, yet this sleeping and lazy giant is there lagging behind

Politics / Capital Flight From Nigeria Due To Corruption/cost Of Production by Moorish: 12:14am On Jul 05, 2021
I recently got privy to some concering information about the following:

- Nigerian Customs (Ports) apparently banned some agro products' exports (e.g Charcoal) because they wanted to raise the levies on those products unofficially, thereby reducing the forex we receive from said agro exports. Also Note: they then started allowing those exports unofficially, but at 5x the original cost and they do this unofficially meaning they don't requit any moneys to the FG

- Cost of production in Nigeria is higher than other west african countries for thesame agro products e.g Sesame Seeds.. therefore buyers will prefer to buy from those cheaper countries, and also, entrepreneurs will leave nigeria to those cheaper countries e.g Ghana and other west african countries

-The insecurity in Nigeria is also making prices of raw materials sky rocket

- Take this case study: Nigeria accounts for 40% of global Shea Nut Production, but Ghana who have 4% of global Shea Nut Production export more Shea butter (the processed shea nut- the finished product) than Nigeria

-Nigeria is the Number one producer of cassava in the world, but we import about 90% of our starch (a by product of cassava)

-in 1950 we were the no1 producer of palm oil (40% of global output), but now we only account for about 3% of global output. If we had maintained that 40% since the 50s, we would have been making a guaranteed 20 billion USD per annum from this agro product- mind you this is not including post processing to palm kernel nut, and other value added products.. and the irony is that we made only 26 Billion USD in 2019 from crude oil.. so one product (palm oil) would have made us 20 billion USD, (and we have over 100 agro products.. yet we only focus on oil)

- if the Nigeria Export Promotion Council start doing their jobs instead of just sitting down and just collecting salaries, this country can really start increasing our forex

All through all these, corruption is the bane of our productivity. E.g Someone bringing tomatoes from the north will have to add 10% or more to the cost of that raw material due to bribing soldiers at road blocks along the way from the north to the cities in the south.

What is the way forward Naija

Generally, we do but it’s getting much better (and development is a PROCESS)…
The Lagos Road Code (enacted under Fashola) mandates streetlights, sidewalks, signage and markings.

Perhaps the older roads (there are over 3000 roads in Lagos) and FEDERAL roads have not yet caught up…
But at least all relatively recent Lagos roads (including the 450 inners streets done by Ambode) meet the Code.

Meanwhile, if the environment in most of Lagos are not well-kept, look no further than the CITIZENS themselves…
People trade on sidewalks, piss/defecate on the streets, litter the streets, block drainages, steal manhole covers, railings, etc.

At some point CITIZENS/residents have to bear their own share of responsibility with the government (and pay taxes!)…
Because Nigeria’s condition (and future) is ultimately the culmination of the actions of ALL Nigerians, by commission or omission!

Great post as always..

On your last point, I think it is through fines and law enforcement that you will get that compliance from citizens.

Then compliance will become a culture and you would hardly need any penalties or threats

Politics / Re: LASG Calls For Cooperation As Construction Of 3 Major Roads Begins by Moorish: 1:54pm On Jun 05, 2021
PHAYOL81:

Not many offices but only two and those two have different terrains they work on for detailed and proper services, even though they get areas they must align and work together too. First one is LASURA. All LASURA does is to look into plannings of an already inhabited areas and draw blueprints on how best to implement infrastructural development into the system to improve the lifestyle and ecosystem of the area for optimal, quality and productive upgrades. Example is the urban renewal process ongoing at MAKOKO, YABA and BADAGRY. Another is the proposed plans for OTTO COMMUNITY, IKOSI-EJIRIN and IMOTA.
Then, there is the ministry of physical planning and urban development; a team that has its commissioner and permanent secretary, both of whom were present at the event. The team specializes in setting plans/blueprint for developing areas with the aim of creating a smart city project. They themselves hints on infrastructural facilities that would hasten growth (both economically and physically) in the new ecosystem for improved lifestyle and development in the state in general. Example is the LEKKI FTZ, LAGOS FTZ, IBEJU-LEKKI development, ORANGE ISLAND, PERIWINKLE ISLAND, EKO ATLANTIC CITY etc.
The other one stated is the aide; one who advises the governor/government on how to improve blueprints submitted by either/both above-mentioned offices. He deliberates with the governor on what to add/subtract and why. He also advises on how to procure right materials (finance, tools, products and labour) towards the actualization of the urban regeneration projects.

Of course, no LG/LCDA is untouched when it comes to the road project in the state as we speak. If they continue in this new pace SANWO OLU brings and they compliment that with quality deliveries, sooner than later, issues of bad roads in Lagos would be a thing of the past.
About the mass transit, you're absolutely right. If they deliver on the blue and red rail lines by the last quarter of 2022 as promised and are able to secure people's confidence over the waterway transport system, Lagos state would quickly jump up the ratings as a model smart city in Africa.
May God continue to bless Lagos state
May God bless all South Western States of Nigeria in general
May God bless all Yoruba land
May God bless all Yoruba indigenes
Thanks for that informative reply

So in a nutshell, LASURA works on already existing towns and finds ways to modernize and improve them, while physical planning and urban development is concerned with new projects ? Sounds cool

But those urban renewal projects at Makoko and yaba, badagry, what are they constructing ? Is it just roads ?

Lastly the projects you mentioned : LEKKI FTZ, LAGOS FTZ, IBEJU-LEKKI development, ORANGE ISLAND, PERIWINKLE ISLAND, EKO ATLANTIC CITY etc. which you attributed to the ministry of physical planning and urban development, isn’t that an unfair attribution? I thought those projects were a result of the private sector alone ?

Thanks for your explanation once again

General Manager, Lagos State Urban Renewal Authority ( LASURA)

Special Adviser to the Governor on Urban Development

-Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development

Why do we have so many offices with thesame function ?

wazobia68:

Nigeria can only print Naira, we don't print dollars. So if the country is not earning enough foreign exchange through exports etc, we will have shortage of foreign exchange which will likely lead to devaluation. That is simple economics. The Nigerian economy is not diversified, we rely heavily on crude oil export for our dollar needs. So if there is disruption in crude sales/price, we have this problem.
Now, Nigeria is not selling enough crude oil, due to OPEC restrictions as a result of covid 19 pandemic. Most countries are not operating fully so the demand for crude is reduced. Also India, I believe our biggest oil market have cut oil imports due to the ravaging effect of covid 19.
In a nutshell, this is the major reason.

We have other factors like, fuel importation, low productivity, population growth, education etc

Well explained, thanks
