She could be lying
These things happen to (african) men a lot.
Where is the forensic evidence ?
Her word vs his word?
This is not conclusive enough
I would appeal the ruling and sue her for defamation. |

davidnazee: All kingdoms become powerful through economic and military.. before contact with Europeans all African kingdoms were not the same.. Benin was powerful economically and military.. the others were just there. I do know the Portuguese were impressed with Benin city’s layout, but I dont know about military and economy of Benin before Portuguese contact But generally a lot of kingdoms in the Sahel became formidable due to proximity to the caravan trade Also coastal states traded with Europeans, obtained guns and were able to raid and defeat kingdoms in the hinterland who did not have direct contact with Europeans |

Proximity to caravan trade routes
Coastal contact with Europeans

Actually, we would have been more positively impactively dominant if we were separate. The union has created too lany problems that has brought us into a repute of negative dominance.
Prior to unification, there were much more Yoruba doing Yoruba proud. During the regional days, there were many Yoruba doing Yoruba proud. What we have now is not a union but a burden of under regions yoking Yoruba region under a weight that has brought it to its knees.
The region that was the first in many things, the region that was the envy of many European nations including France, yes, the region that produced many pioneers in several academic fields in Africa and so on is now shxt. Look at Ibadan, a city that once gave Lagos Island a run for its money; a city many Yiibos and Hausas ran to has now become dilapidated, run down & a butt od all jokes.
The North wants to read quran & remain in the medeival period without interference from externals, this has always been their style even during colonial days.
The West wants to do education and develop internally. There are several colonial reports on this about Southwest.
The East wants to do trade and explore markets in other places while keeping outside rs out of their society that is devoid of hierachy or let me say ‘respect’.
These are the summaries of each region pre & post 1960. We have different perspectives, direction, cultural philosophy and life pursuits. We are all pulling each other backwards. If we can not have total disintegration, can we at least go back to regional system with each region holding rights to deport non-indigenes of a region at will? You’ve listed very sound points |

If we still burning people alive for petty crimes, SARS shooting innocent people, Fulanis killing families, politicians looting and YORUBAS continuing their treachery and lies we won’t get anywhere. soberdrunk: When will Africans wake up and realize that even criminals have rights, even 'prisoners of war' have rights and are treated better than criminals in Nigeria. Under no circumstance, i repeat UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE is it "legal" to 'Dehumanize' a human being like this, the fact that you caught a criminal doesn't give you the right to treat him like a farm animal, in advanced countries you can even go to jail for treating animals badly, how can you lock a full grown human being inside cage because you caught him stealing from you and tomorrow you will start screaming 'police harassment', we are still far from civilization in Africa....... That is a sane comment |

davidnazee: Maybe breakup will be better than living together and hating each other. And Yoruba can eat their music when we breakup becos nothing else for them. As for Lagos it will be a war booty becos the yarribas aren’t taking it. Edo has claim, igbos have claim even Hausas have claim. David relax We no go fight ourselves We are too influential in africa and the globe to breakup Once we get good leadership, tribe and religion will be irrelevant In fact, those things will become a strength due to diversity Me Im not one of those yorubas who argues over lagos Lagos will most likely be ruled by yorubas for a long time tho.. But in a true democracy, anyone born in lagos and a lagosian can and should rule irrespective of state of origin Same way, I can rule edo or delta because I was born and grew up in those lands We will get there one day |

Y0ruba: This is nothing but utopian thinking that is devoid of the current realities of politico-religious, political-economic & politico-cultural place of each nation.
Each region is headed towards separate directions dictated by the internal situations preceding post-colonial Nigeria.
Each region has to come to its destination & fulfillment before finding a common goal to unite for in other regions.
Let’s stop lying to ourselves. Aren’t you proud of our Nigerian sons and daughters doing us proud globally in the music/entertainment scene? Can we be that dominant if we separate? We are more influential together than broken up Facts |

One thing we should all know is we are nations within a nation
We were forced together
We do not have to like each other but we can try to respect one another
Both Edo and Oyo were expanding empires
The white man seemed to have high respect for Edo because he interacted with Edo heavily
Edo had rubber, palms, salt, pepper
The white man traded with Edo for those commodities
Oyo was equally a formidable nation holding sway over its neighbors, but unfortunately our land did not have those resources, but Benin grew richer and powerful due to trade with Portugal since the 16th century
Benin also did not have to deal in slaves much because they had resources that the white man wanted/needed |

GodSon34: Lol! You lot are funny abeg! What you fools don't realise is that both the Alafin of Oyo empire and Oba of Benin Empire sold out to the British Imperial masters. The Yoruba (just Oyo) and Edo-Bini people collaborated to enslave the children of God that lived in hat land of Canaan. Yall enslaved the Egba, Ketu, Ijebu, Warri, etc and sold them to Europeans during the transatlantic slave trade and Arab one prior. The Benin empire however is certainly much older and were better warriors than the ancient Oyo empire and certain put up a fight against the British. The Oba of Benin ensured his people were not enslaved. Oyo empire grew in importance and might only because they were fully backed by the colonial/imperialist masters. Bottom line both sellout tribes.. Everyone took part in the trade Yes, the bigger kingdoms fared better than the smaller ones But everyone was down with the trade It was the hottest thing then |

Favor99: There’s a lot of hateful people here on nairalander. There all over nairaland saying all kinds of foolish stuff. What tribe are you? But yes we should unite. Enlightenment is key Our people one, need to know how badly oyinbos hate us and that were in this together.
People also need to stop watching TV movies and all this mind control stuff that brainwashed us and whitewashes us.
We need to restructure everything You must be well travelled to have this orientation I’m yoruba The other races on earth do not like us that is completely true So it makes no sense to hate ourselves in my opinion When they yab eachother, if it is funny I laugh just for entertainment.. even if na my tribe dem yab But some people take it too far I don’t watch TV bro Our culture has been influenced so much.. but we can learn some good things from western culture Our culture did have some negative things too I do think pan Africanism can help us love eachother |
