Sports › Lionel Messi Tipped To Overtake Michael Jordan As Richest Sportsperson Of All Ti by Morbeta11(op): 2:44pm On Jul 24, 2023 |
Despite Michael Jordan Earning $231,000,000 More From Shoe Endorsement, Lionel Messi Poises to Overtake ‘Richest Athlete’ Crown
Perhaps the greatest footballer of all time, Lionel Messi saw his Inter Miami career take off in glorious fashion. Miami was tied 1-1 against Cruz Azul. In the 94th minute, the Argentinian produced a trademark freekick to win his first game for the side. On the occasion, Twitter user Andrew Petcash posted a thread explaining how Messi has a chance to become the richest sportsperson of all time. The title is currently held by Michael Jordan, who has earned around $256,000,000 via his Nike deal in 2022 alone. Messi, on the other hand, earns around $25,000,000 yearly from Adidas. However, his plethora of other investments and a hefty Inter Miami contract is expected to help him overtake MJ.
Messi signed a complicated deal with Miami, with an overall annual salary of $55 million. Additionally, he also has clauses for various bonuses and has been given equity in the team. This is set to take his earnings up to around $80,000,000. The financials of the contract are so complex that Petcash ended up posting a breakdown of the numbers.
Lionel Messi tipped to overtake Michael Jordan as richest sportsperson of all time
The sheer private nature of Messi’s overall earnings means that he might already be earning more than Michael Jordan on a yearly basis. Still, Jordan has been a global phenomenon for more than 2 decades, which has helped him take his overall net worth to more than $3 billion.
As far as Messi is concerned, he is known to have earned $122 million last year. A number of investments have since been made by the Argentinian. According to Andrew Petcash, this includes a real estate business, his earnings from Inter Miami, and a further $50 million from his endorsements.
His Inter Miami deal is also expected to have a profit-sharing clause for jersey sales, with Messi expected to generate over $100 million in this category. Furthermore, his Adidas deal, a crypto endorsement, and his clothing brand earnings also account for around $50 million yearly.
Andrew Petcash believes Messi is on path to overtake Jordan
The Twitter thread explains how Messi is well on the path to overtaking Jordan in due time. Of course, MJ’s lifetime deal with Nike alone ends up earning him more than $200 million every year. Hence, while there is no doubt that Lionel Messi will one day overtake MJ, there is still quite a bit of time for that to happen.
Information about a major part of Messi’s fortune has been kept private. Petcash’s thread focuses on the recent increases in earnings that Messi has registered. Overall, his net worth is currently estimated to be $600 million.
Hence, it might take him a few more years to actually come near MJ. Jordan not only has a $3 billion net worth but has also recently sanctioned a $3 billion sale of the Charlotte Hornets. https://thesportsrush.com/nba-news-despite-michael-jordan-earning-231000000-more-from-shoe-endorsement-lionel-messi-poises-to-overtake-richest-athlete-crown/

Some unfortunate ones are hell bent on turning Lagos upside down to score cheap political points. It's time to guard everything concerning Lagos jealously from outsiders. Give Yorubas and other indigenes all the positions up till cleaner and watch the madness die natural death.

Politics › Ex-lagos Deputy Gov Blames Nigeria’s Problems On God’s Anger, Corruption by Morbeta11(op): 5:39pm On Jul 22, 2023 |
Ex-Lagos deputy gov blames Nigeria’s problems on God’s anger, corruption.
The first elected deputy governor of Lagos State, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, has blamed the problems of Nigeria on God’s anger, falsehood, wickedness to one another, and corruption.
Ojikutu said God was angry with Nigeria because the nation had decided to follow falsehood, adding, “and we are worshipping too many deities that are not for God.”
The former deputy governor, in a statement made available to journalists in Lagos on Thursday, also stated that Nigerians are wicked towards their neighbours.
“We are wicked to one another,” she said.
“People owe you; they have the money and they refuse to pay. The government owes workers; the government has the money and it refuses to pay the workers and they say they should not steal.
“People are using human parts for money rituals to match the status of people who have stolen from the treasury.
“Our priorities are wrong. We have gone to the dog with our morals. We should turn to God sincerely and ask for forgiveness. People should turn to God for mercy and He will have mercy on Nigeria and give us rulers that will not punish us,” she added.
Ojikutu further said, “The country has been sold,” adding, “What should have been used as a provision for us has been used as a deal.”
She noted that the government makes laws that have criminalised almost 99 per cent of Nigerians.
“The only solution Nigerians know now is to break laws because the government makes laws that are impossible not to break.
“When things are difficult for people, they will break the law. So, people look for shortcuts in order to survive and in the process, they break the law.
“Think about those that bypass electricity meters or those that forge their certificates. If you read the Holy Book and look at what is happening in Nigeria, it shows that God is angry with this country. Everybody must be prayerful because God is angry and giving us a chance to repent, but we are missing that chance every time,” she said.
While condemning the hike in petrol pump price, the ex-deputy governor said there was enough money to rescue the nation’s economy, therefore, there was no need for such a hike.
She said, “This hike in petrol pump price should not be, we know where the money is. There is enough money in the hands of a few to rescue this nation. It only needs a courageous patriotic leader to change the narrative.
“Our commonwealth in the hands of the few can be ploughed into the economy to revive it, create jobs, carry out massive reorientation, tackle terrorism with determined security and make agriculture attractive.” https://punchng.com/ex-lagos-deputy-gov-blames-nigerias-problems-on-gods-anger-corruption/

Be Like Nelson Mandela, Don’t Celebrate Him, Soyinka Tells Nigerians
Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, has advised Nigerians not to celebrate former South African President Nelson Mandela, but to be like him.
He gave the advice yesterday in Asaba, the Delta State capital during the 2023 United Nations Nelson Mandela International Day Celebration.
He called on Nigerians to do the best they can to create a better Nigeria.
According to him, Mandela did his best when he was in prison, out of prison and as president, saying that planting trees could be a way to live like him as that would immortalise him and make people remember his good deeds.
Soyinka, who was the special guest of honour , said, “We have many Mandela among us. His travails among them are not over. We should do everything to free them and celebrate them wherever they are to save the coming generation.”
The founder of Mandela Gardens, Dr Newton Jibunoh, said he was happy celebrating the late South African leader with mixed feelings because he lived most of his life for the emancipation of his people, but that at the other hand the world is not yet a better place.
“ When Mandela contested for president, he did not have money to buy the form. In Nigeria today you need N100 million to buy form for presidential contest,” Jibunoh lamented.
While advising Nigerians to think about the sacrifices Mandela made to make the world a habitable place, he said we have serious responsibility to make sure the world is made a better place to live.
CFAO manager, Aissatou Diouf and the permanent secretary, Delta State Ministry of Environment, Dr Minnie Osaji, said Mandela, as an international peace maker, was a role model worldwide. https://leadership.ng/be-like-nelson-mandela-dont-celebrate-him-soyinka-tells-nigerians/
