Firm tackles Tompolo over alleged oil theft
A firm, Sub-sea Ocean Limited, owners of a motor tanker, Mt Praisel vessel accused of transporting 1,114,721 litres of crude, has threatened to take legal action against a private security outfit, Tantita Security Service Limited owned by Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, for accusing the vessel of crude theft.
In a letter on Friday signed by the company’s secretary, Paul Ishabor, and obtained by Saturday PUNCH, the company explained that the said vessel was currently under hire with Stratos Trading Limited under a charter party agreement dated July 25, 2023.
Recall that the TSSL arrested Mt Praisel escorted by a Navy gunboat in the creeks on Delta State.
Reacting to this, Ishabor said that as a law-abiding firm, the company frowned upon the unfounded allegation published by some media outfits about the company.
He added that the publication was not just embarrassing to the organisation but violated the organisation’s hard-earned reputation built over the years.
The letter read in part, “We are the owners of MT. Praisel, a Nigerian Flag motor tanker vessel, with call sign 5NGX2, IMO: 9206891 currently under charter by Stratos Trading Limited.
“Our attention has been drawn to a report of Thursday, 3rd of August, 2023 wherein it was said that the above-named vessel had been arrested by security agents, TSSL on allegation of being laden with stolen crude oil.
Tompolo’s security firm intercepts suspected stolen oil-laden vessel PIA: Shell warns against sabotage, oil theft “As a responsible and law-abiding organisation with a long history and track record of compliance with laws and regulations that govern the maritime, oil, and gas industry in which we operate, we seriously frown upon this unfounded and baseless allegation which is not just embarrassing to our organisation but impeaches on our hard-earned reputation built over the years.”
Ishabor explained that the company was duly registered with the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency.
The company’s scribe maintained that the firm had been a long-time player in the maritime, oil & gas Industry.
Ishabor added that under the charter agreement, the vessel must load a cargo of several voyages of High Pour Fuel Oil belonging to Stratos Trading Limited.
“Under the said Charter Party Agreement, Mt. Praisel must load cargo of several voyages of HPFO belonging to Stratos Trading Limited and covered by Petroleum Product Offtake Permits and Vessel Release of Nomination issued by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority from Greenmac Energy Limited at Taurus Jetty, Koko for discharge at Bonny Inner Anchorage and San Barth Jetty, Port Harcourt as bunker.”
He said that it is part of the fulfillment of their obligations under the charter party agreement. https://punchng.com/firm-tackles-tompolo-over-alleged-oil-theft/

Ohanaeze chieftain petitions Tinubu over alleged attempt to sell Enugu museum land
A chieftain of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prince Richard Ozobu, has petitioned President Bola Tinubu over an alleged attempt to sell plots of lands belonging to the National Museum, Enugu.
In the petition, Ozobu, who is a former board member of the National Commission for Museums and Monuments, told the President that he had drawn the attention of the authorities of the Enugu museum to the situation, but his complaint was ignored.
He alleged that land grabbers had used bulldozers and other earth moving equipment to demolish buildings, stalls and scattering monuments on the property which belongs to the federal government.
Ozobu lamented that the only interest of the land grabbers is to secretly appropriate the museum land at Ogui junction, Enugu and enrich themselves against the interest of the museum, the federal government and posterity.
He said; “I have been inundated with phone calls and visits from concerned citizens of Enugu state about the surreptitious plan to appropriate the Enugu museum land and littering of its artifacts on the harsh weather. As a former member of the National Commission for Museum and Monuments, I represent the interest of some aggrieved and concerned citizens of Enugu State, in this issue of misappropriation of Enugu Museum land.
”I reached out to the DG, National Commission for Museums and Monuments, Prof.Isa Tijani, but he responded without making any meaningful thing out of my complaint. The Enugu museum land has been preserved for generational advancement of the museum, and shouldnt be sold off, but the land grabbers have used bulldozers to start demolishing buildings, stalls and artifacts of a federal government property in Enugu. I filed the statutory pre-action through my lawyer, but they gave no satisfactory answer and evaded the needed information about the land. It’s shocking that no Director of the NCMM is aware of this transaction. They have gone to museum land at Ogui junction and parcellated into plots and named it MOK museum estate with the intention to sell it to themselves.
“The curator of the Enugu museum in a bid to suppress my pre-action issued a press release and gave that impression that the federal government concessioned the Enugu museum land for 25 years. But we are yet to confirm this claim.”
The Ohanaeze chieftain urged Tinubu to investigate the parcellation of the Enugu museum land and if possible, revoke the alleged acquisition. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2023/08/ohanaeze-chieftain-petitions-tinubu-over-alleged-attempt-to-sell-enugu-museum-land/

“Given up football to play soccer - embarrassing” - Piers Morgan aims jibe at Lionel Messi fan for poking fun at his Cristiano Ronaldo tweet
British TV personality Piers Morgan, a Cristiano Ronaldo fan, has once again taken shots at Lionel Messi. He said that the Argentine has given up on football to play 'soccer' and labeled his move to Inter Miami as embarrassing.
The World Cup Ruined Maradona? Morgan was previously a Messi fan but changed his opinion after his interview with Ronaldo in 2019.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday night, Morgan first posted a video of Ronaldo scoring a late equalizer for Al Nassr to help them stay afloat in the Arab Clubs Champions Cup. Piers Morgan Piers Morgan @piersmorgan Messi’s given up football to play ‘soccer’ - embarrassing.
twitter.com/blueboxdave/st… 5410 484
When another journalist quoted the tweet with a GIF of Lionel Messi's celebration at Inter Miami, Morgan was not pleased. He was quickly to aim digs at Lionel Messi and said that he had given up on football to go play soccer in the United States.
Piers Morgan asked Cristiano Ronaldo about Lionel Messi
Piers Morgan claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo named Lionel Messi as the best footballer he had seen live. However, the Portuguese star added a cheeky comment and claimed that he had never seen himself play live.Talking to talkSPORT last season, Morgan claimed that he had an interesting conversation with Ronaldo during his first interview with the Portuguese star. He said last year: "I had a very interesting conversation with Cristiano Ronaldo, we had dinner after I first interviewed him three years ago, it was a really great conversation and I really like him as a person. He was incredibly respectful about Messi and I said to him, 'Who's the best player you've ever seen?' He said, 'Messi, but you're asking the wrong question, you're not asking me who is the best player…', because, of course, he has never seen himself play live."
He added: "So, that made me laugh. But then he talked about the pair of them and the difference between them and a lot of the other greats, like R9 Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, George Best, Paul Gascoigne, he said the difference is the longevity he and Messi have had. Messi and Ronaldo have had 18 or 19 years at the very top of their game, and that's testament to their extraordinary dedication, their remarkable physical fitness and their rivalry, which has without any question driven the other to ever greater heights. I think it's been one of the great rivalries of any sport ever, so we're very lucky to have them."
Cristiano Ronaldo's explosive interview with Piers Morgan last year saw the striker have his contract at Manchester United terminated. Lionel Messi was linked with a move to the Middle East, but opted to join Inter Miami, where he has scored five goals in the first three matches. https://www.sportskeeda.com/football/news-given-football-play-soccer-embarrassing-piers-morgan-aims-jibe-lionel-messi-fan-poking-fun-cristiano-ronaldo-tweet

Politics › NSA Probes Another Vessel Held With Stolen Crude by Morbeta11(op): 2:23pm On Aug 05, 2023 |
NSA probes another vessel held with stolen crude.
The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) yesterday launched an investigation into the seizure of another vessel suspected to be loaded with stolen crude.
The vessel, which was arrested on Wednesday by Tanita Security Services operatives, has been taken into custody.
It is the second time in a month such an arrest will be made. On July 7, the vessel MT TURA II, which was conveying 150,000 metric tonnes of stolen crude to Cameroon was intercepted at a location offshore Ondo State, with 11 Nigerians and one Ghanaian onboard. The vessel was set ablaze on July 11.
There was suspicion that the latter vessel was being escorted by a military boat allegedly on illegal duty.
It was learnt that a team of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Plc (NNPCL) has been deployed to assess the situation on the ground and ascertain the true picture.
Read Also: Desist from crude oil theft now, FOC warns criminals There was a sharp disagreement between the operatives of Tantita Security Services (owned by ex-Niger Delta Militant Government Tompolo) and the officers and men of the Nigerian Navy.
The vessel was intercepted and arrested around the Koko axis of Delta State.
A top source, who spoke in confidence, said: “The incident occurred on August 2, in the Koko area of Delta State.
“The Tantita operatives were conducting a routine patrol when they spotted the vessel.
“The vessel was loaded with crude oil suspected to be stolen. The vessel, MT PRAISEL, was allegedly being escorted by a Navy boat.
“However, the Tantita operatives stood their ground. With the backing of the NSA and the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), the private security firm has taken the suspicious vessel into custody.”
Photos of the vessel and video clips, which were sighted yesterday, have been made available to the ONSA for investigation.
The source said: “The vessel was flying a Togolese flag, but the operatives had intelligence that it was carrying stolen crude oil.
“When the Tantita operatives attempted to board the vessel, they were met with resistance, threatened to deal decisively with the Tantita operatives, but they refused to back down.
“The NSA and the CNS were eventually contacted, and they authorised the Tantita operatives to take the vessel into custody.
“NNPCL officials are believed to be on their way to Okporoza to begin their investigation. That is where the vessel is being held to begin their investigation at the Tantita Security Services compound.
“This is the latest in a series of incidents involving the theft of crude oil in Nigeria. In recent years, the country has lost billions of dollars due to oil theft.“
Why there was suspicion on the vessel
Findings confirmed that the conflicting status of the vessel raised suspicion of stolen crude.
An intelligence source said: “There was an alarm that the vessel was carrying products as well as crude oil.
“Upon boarding the vessel, it was discovered that although the owners of the vessel were authorised to carry products, they have no Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) approvals for this said voyage. However, they have Naval clearance.”
The NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has received a briefing from Tantita Security Services and the Navy.
“ONSA has commenced an investigation into the incident to find out the status of the vessel and its mission and to ascertain if there was crude theft or not.
“The NSA had interacted with some people on the incident for preliminary evidence,” the source added.
The vessel is reported to be of 1,117 tonnes. https://thenationonlineng.net/nsa-probes-another-vessel-held-with-stolen-crude/

I still hope my husband will return home — Dadiyata’s wife
Khadija Ahmed Lame, the wife of popular social media influencer, Abubakar Idris, aka Dadiyata, has expressed optimism that her husband would return home one day.
Dadiyata has been missing since August 2, 2019, when some yet-to-be identified men bundled him into his vehicle and took him away.
The 34-year-old lecturer was said to be within his compound in Barnawa, Kaduna, when the assailants struck.
Speaking with the BBC Hausa service on Wednesday, Mrs Lame said dealing with the disappearance of her husband for the past four years has been tough on her and the children.
“I can’t describe how I feel, but it is sad feelings. I never thought it would take this long for him to return. In fact, I have never imagined him disappearing for a day, and here we are counting four years. It’s really devastating,” she said.
The governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, had promised to investigate the disappearance of Mr Idris.
But Mrs Lame said the family had yet to be contacted on any investigation.
“At the beginning, we were meant to believe that there was an ongoing investigation, but up until now nothing has come out of it.
“And nobody is even talking to us, except for the recent promise made by the governor of Kano. And I don’t even know if they have started the investigation as promised because nobody has contacted us,” she said.
Mrs Lame also disclosed that she has been lying to her two children that their father travelled and would return soon.
“The children have begun to smell a rat. Because I have been lying to them that their father has travelled and will return soon. They kept asking questions, and I would plead with them to be patient and that he would return soon,” she added.
On how the family has been faring over the years, she said friends and relatives of her disappeared husband have been supporting the family.
When asked if she was still hopeful of reuniting with her husband, the mother of two said: “I believe he will return. I have never thought that he was gone forever. We will soon reunite, by God’s grace. So I’m very optimistic that he will return”.
“I am appealing to the new government and any individual who has the influence to rescue my husband to do so, please. I am afraid that all the lies I have been telling my children will soon be exposed.
“Every blessed day, I plead with them not to worry that their father will return. And he hasn’t returned yet. I don’t want the children to see me as a liar", she pleaded. https://dailynigerian.com/hope-husband-return-dadiyata/

Politics › We’re Ready To Be Aso Rock Sweepers, Miyetti Allah Begs Tinubu For Appointment by Morbeta11(op): 12:37am On Aug 04, 2023 |
Members of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, have asked President Bola Tinubu not to forget them in the ongoing appointments, saying they were even prepared to work as sweepers in Aso Rock, the seat of Federal Government.
The Southeast zonal leader of MACBAN, Allhaji Gidado Siddikki, said the call became necessary because cattle breeders across the country prayed and voted for the President during the February 25 presidential election.
Siddikki said: “We are demanding for appointments from Tinubu’s government. Even if it is as office sweepers, we are okay with it. All we want is for us to be part of the government at the centre.
“During the election, to my knowledge, my people voted for President Tinubu because his predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari, told my people to vote for him and they all did so.
“We prayed, supported, endorsed and did everything politically possible to ensure his victory. So he should not abandoned us.
“In the appointments the President has made so far, no Miyetti Allah member is among, including the recently-screened ministerial nominees.
“In addition to the N8,000 proposed palliative and other benefits of the government, he should appoint us too, even as sweepers at the Presidential Villa.”
While commending the South-East governors for their continued support for the association in the region, Siddikki, the Miyetti Allah leader, appealed to governments at all levels to also fund the livestock sector, arguing that it might go into extinction if not properly funded. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2023/08/miyetti-allah-to-tinubu-we-need-appointments-even-as-aso-rock-sweepers/
