Where is the pride... boy, you are just a kid and a neophyte in politics. Asiwaju is a smart politician, and will do what he feels is the right thing. courts have already freed NK, and Buhari being a dull fellow made a mess of his image. Where is Buhari today, his Image is far worse than what it used to be before he became President. Tinubu knows who to win souls politically and he will win the heart of Kanu and the South East sooner than you think..he temporarily inherited the hate they have for Buhari but it will be over soon. Hmmm.
One thing that govt needs to consider is the fact that hiis victims deserve justice. He has never done as little as apologise to those who are victims of his violent rhetorics. His victims deserve justice and it's the job of the FG to get them justice.

The life and human rights of his victims matter too and should not be sacrificed on politics and technicalities. They are citizens of this great nation that the President swore to protect and defend. The President must let the court give justice to his victims. It is their right to get justice as freeborn citizens of this great nation.
Go sue him if you are one of his victims....or otherwise keep quiet.

Politics › Controversial Judgements: Us Slams Visa Ban On Cjn Ariwoola, Nweze And Others. by Morbeta11(op):
CONTROVERSIAL JUDGEMENTS: US SLAMS VISA BAN ON CJN ARIWOOLA NWEZE, MUSA DATTIJO, 3 OTHERS

The United States government has placed a visa ban on the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Olukayode Ariwoola, and six other members of the Supreme Court of Nigeria over their delivery of controversial and inciting judgments.
Besides Ariwoola, the other apex court justices whose identities were revealed by a highly placed source, are Musa Dattijo Mohammed, Centus Nweze and Justice Kudirat Kekere Ekun.
It was learnt their ban was connected to questionable judgements they gave, including the controversial judgment that made Senator Hope Uzodinma governor of Imo State in 2020, as well as the judgements that recognised Senate President Godswill Akpabio and his predecessor Senator Ahmed Lawan as winners of their senatorial elections.

Recall that Uzodimma who came fourth in the 2019 governorship election was controversially declared winner of election by the Supreme Court.

In the case of Lawan and Akpabio, the Supreme Court ruled, in separate judgements, that both senators, who didn’t participate in their party’s (All Progressives Congress) primary election are the party’s senatorial candidates.

Lawan and Akpabio were presidential aspirants at the time the party held primaries for their senatorial districts which legally ruled them out of the senatorial contest.

While they both stepped down for Bola Tinubu who later won the presidential ticket, senatorial candidates had emerged from their senatorial zones to represent the party in the election.

Bashir Machina and Udom Ekpoudom won the primaries and emerged senatorial candidates for Yobe North and Akwa Ibom North West respectively
and their mandates were recognised by High and Appeal courts. But the
Apex court overturned the judgements of the two lower courts.

However, Pointblanknews learnt that the embattled Supreme Court justices got wind of their ban to enter the US after they were denied entry to the country to attend a seminar.

The source, a ranking Supreme Court official who pleaded anonymity, confided in Pointblanknews that Justice Ekun was the first to be informed of her visa ban.

The source added the ban has become a burden on Justices of the Supreme Court.

The source said, “And that signals the Justices have received indicate that the U.K and the European Union have been asked to consider actions too by the U.S authority.”

The source added the judgements on cases involving Uzodimma, Akpabio and Lawan, which raised some much upset within the polity and “some other cases were considered to be against democracy and rule of law.”

Recall that the Supreme Court in January, 2020, nullified the election of Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the governor of Imo State.

The apex court declared Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the March 9 governorship election in the state.

In the unanimous judgment of the seven-member panel, read by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the apex court agreed that results in 388 polling units were unlawfully excluded during the collation of the final governorship election result in Imo State.

Justice Kekere-Ekun said with the results from the 388 polling units added, Mr Uzodinma polled a majority of the lawful votes and ought to have been declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The judge did not provide the details of the new votes scored by each of the candidates after the addition of the results from the 388 polling units.
Consequently, she voided and set aside the declaration of Mr lhedioha as the winner of the 2019 governorship election in the South-East state.

The court ordered that the certificate of return wrongly or unlawfully issued to Mr lhedioha be immediately withdrawn by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a fresh one issued to Mr Uzodinma as the elected governor of the state.

Also, the Supreme Court in February 2023, declared Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the authentic candidate of the APC for Yobe North Senatorial District for the 25 February general election.

The court made the declaration in a three-against-two split judgement of its five-member panel. The panel was led by Centus Nweze.

The majority judgement held that the decisions of the Federal High Court in Yobe and the Court of Appeal in Abuja “were perverse and must be set aside.”

The APC had challenged the judgements of the lower courts which affirmed Bashir Machina as the candidate of Yobe North Senatorial District for the election.

It urged the Supreme Court to nullify the two previous verdicts and legitimise APC’s National Working Committee’s forwarding of Mr Lawan’s name to INEC as flagbearer for the poll.

In a related development, the Supreme Court in February declared Godswill Akpabio as the validly nominated candidate for Akwa-Ibom North-West senatorial seat election holding on 25 February.

APC had challenged the decision of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which sacked Mr Akpabio as its candidate.

Mr Akpabio is a former governor of Akwa-Ibom State and ex-minister of Niger Delta Affairs.

In Mr Akpabio’s place, the appellate court had on 14 November 2022 ordered INEC to recognise Udom Ekpoudom, a retired deputy inspector general of police, as the authentic candidate of the party.

Delivering the unanimous judgement of its five-member panel led by Kudirat Kekere-Ekun on Friday, the Supreme Court held that the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal were wrong to have assumed jurisdiction in the suit because the issue of candidate nomination lies squarely with political parties.

Three Tricycle Riders Who Rode From Lagos To Abuja In Solidarity With President Tinubu Cry Out, Say ‘We’re Stranded, Treated Like Outcasts’

The tricycle riders lamented that they were left stranded after they were prevented from seeing the President.

The three tricycle riders who drove from Lagos to Abuja in solidarity with President Bola Tinubu have cried out to Nigerians to come to their aid and assist them financially.

The tricycle riders lamented that they were left stranded after they were prevented from seeing the President.

They disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja while addressing journalists over their frustration and disappointment after risking their lives.

The three men who belong to the Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) took off from Lagos on Monday, July 3 and arrived in Abuja on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, after spending

SaharaReporters learnt that the journey of about 757 km from Lagos to Abuja was aimed at showing solidarity and support to the President and also informing him that tricycle engines could be assembled locally.

The Chairman of TOAN, Ajah branch, Onanuga Babatunde, who spoke to journalists lamented how they had spent 10 days in Abuja without seeing the President or any of his aides.

He said the journey was also meant to mark President Tinubu’s 38th day in office on July 4, 2023, as well as to celebrate his successful inauguration.

He said they were stranded and could not return to Lagos after spending over N100,000 to fuel their two tricycles.

He said the officials at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had not given them an audience.

He said they were also prevented from gaining access to the party secretariat.

Onanuga said, "I am the one that drove a tricycle from Lagos to Abuja to show solidarity with the President. We are three in number – Comrade Ahmed Bolaji and Comrade Akintade Temitope.

"We started the journey on Monday, July 3rd and we got to Abuja on July 4th. We are here to show solidarity with the President. When we were coming, we had challenges on the road but we thank God, we overcame them.

"Since we arrived, we have been stranded. We have spent 10 days in Abuja. We have spent all our money on fuel and we don't have anything with us. We have been paying for hotel accommodation since we came to Abuja.”

The TOAN chairman, however, described President Tinubu as a “very kind-hearted father who would use his good office to ensure that tricycles are assembled or manufactured in Nigeria as one of his legacies”.

Temitope called on the President to give them access to meet him.

Crime › Police Officers Extort N80,000 From Man Rushing To Meet Up His Flight by Morbeta11(op): 8:50pm On Jul 13, 2023
Police officers extort N80,000 from man rushing to meet up his flight
The police have reacted to the incident.

A Nigerian man has narrated how some police officers stopped him along a highway in Nigeria on his way to the airport and extorted N80,000 after falsely accusing him of being a “Yahoo boy” (Internet fraudster) and a cultist.

The man said the officers took advantage of the fact that he was anxious to meet up with his flight.

The incident happened on 10 July in Rivers State, South-south Nigeria, while the man was on his way to Port Harcourt Airport, he said.

He said he missed his flight because of the incident.

The man, who shared on Twitter his experience, uploaded a video of one officer, which he secretly recorded during the incident. The 32 seconds video shows the armed officer making a phone call inside a car.

He also posted on the microblogging platform details of the withdrawals he made via POS for the officers.

“I was heading to the airport and had a flight by 12:30 p.m….they stopped me at around 11:30 a.m., asked me to come down, searched me & said I was a yahoo boy & cultist, they even slapped me & threatened me when I said NO that I wasn’t.

“I had to give them money so I could leave before I’m hurt or killed and also try to catch my flight.

“When I got to the airport at almost 12:30 because of how long they held me, the flight had already left! I was devastated. I had to reschedule another flight again and wait till 7 pm.,” the man said via his Twitter handle @ndubuisi_nick.

The man said the officers entered the car he was inside and ordered the driver to “move ahead” when he (the victim) was reluctant to give them money. He said the officers initially demanded N300,000.

“I didn’t know where they were taking me to. They kept on saying that they will deal with me; I was so scared for my life,” he said.

Police react
The police in Rivers State reacted on Twitter to the man’s tweet.

“Please, can you come to the Public Relations Department of the Rivers State Police Command with evidence of transfer so as to track the police operatives that exploited you?” the police tweeted at the man.

“We have called on Nigerians several times, and we are still calling to stop transferring money to these policemen rather than report their conduct to the nearest Police Station or call 09014273818,” the police added.

“It wasn’t a transfer!! They took me to a POS centre to send money to the POS operative to get cash and give it to them!” the man responded to the tweet from the police.

Cases of police extortion are rampant on Nigerian highways. Some of the helpless victims move on after such an incident, while others take to social media to expose the officers involved.

Some officers last year extorted N1 million from a student at gunpoint in Edo State, South-south Nigeria.

The officers were later arrested, and the money was retrieved and handed over to the student after the incident went viral on Twitter.

Health › Ex-Governor Ikpeazu's Newly-Built Hospital Is Unfit For Human Use - Commissioner by Morbeta11(op): 8:14pm On Jul 13, 2023
Ex-Governor Ikpeazu's Newly-built Abia Multi-Specialist Hospital Is Unfit For Human Use –Health Commissioner

Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, Abia State health commissioner, on Wednesday, stated that the newly constructed and inaugurated Abia Multi-Specialist Hospital in Aba is unfit for human use

The hospital was constructed by immediate former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu's administration following the demolition of the old Aba General Hospital which was built in 1957.

The facility was opened on May 27, two days before Ikpeazu’s final day in office.

But addressing newsmen shortly after inspecting the facility on Wednesday, Okoronkwo who was recently appointed health commissioner by Governor Alex Otti, said that structural defects, poor ventilation, and unfitted equipment had made the facility unfit for human use.

The commissioner said that the facility requires structural assessment to ascertain its capability to function as a hospital in the absence of these identified lapses, which also include a lack of running water, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

Okoronkwo said, “The hospital is bad; the structure and the design approach were poorly done.

“The equipment is scattered all over the place and we cannot ascertain if they are still working or not because there is no power supply.

“It is a challenge. The idea of coming here is to look at the place to see if it is ready for use but from my assessment, it will take a while
."

Okoronkwo lamented the leaking and flooding of rooms in the hospital, mouldy walls, lack of provision for air conditioners or fans, and complicated access within the hospital which she said was dangerous.

She said that until she sees the contract papers that were prepared before the poor job, she could not determine if the government would sustain the contract or terminate it.

She said the government would meet with the contractors to know if their work meets the current government’s standard or not.

“If they meet our standard, we may consider how to incorporate that into what we intend to do but if it does not meet our standard, of course, we will discard and develop another one,” she said.

She assured the people of the state that the government had no intention to move the Aba general hospital from its place but would retain it to serve the community.

Also, Okoronkwo said “not even animals should use” Abayi Cottage Hospital in Osisioma Local Government Area.

According to her, Otti has declared a state of emergency in the health sector.

The commissioner said three hospitals from the three senatorial zones had been marked out for "revitalization” before his 100 days in office.
