Rivers Government on Wednesday inaugurated the rehabilitation and reconstruction of six kilometer stretch of the East-West road project worth N3 billion. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the road leads to Port Harcourt refinery and Onne Sea Port.

Gov. Nyesom Wike said during the exercise in Aleto-Eleme, Rivers, that the road was partly funded by both state government, private and public companies. Wike said that the road had been in deplorable condition for years and needed urgent intervention.

He said that the state government could not wait for the Federal Government to repair the road due to the importance the road played on both state and nation’s economy. According to him, we cannot wait until the Federal Government intervenes; hence we decided to take the bull by the horn and partner with the investors.

“Due to the impassable condition of the road; virtually all companies operating in the area are threatening to pull out. It is simply inhuman and unimaginable that people will be spending three hours driving from Port Harcourt to Eleme on a road that most resources of the country come from."

“More importantly, rehabilitation of this road will put to an end incessant case of kidnapping, robbery, extortion and killings which occur regularly,” he said. Wike said that the road rehabilitation awarded to Reynolds Construction Company would be completed in two years.

The governor revealed that N1.5 billion would be paid for the first phase, while the remaining would be paid to the contractor when the project reached 80 per cent completion.

It has always been said that new coach comes a stricter conditions to players. Coach Sunday Oliseh has fired a warning, stating that he will only consider players who feature in top leagues both home and abroad.

On like his predecessor, Stephen Keshi, however was known to call up players from the lower leagues overseas. Sunday Oliseh said he wants to make changes and not do the same thing Stephen Keshi did. He said: According to Vanguard News “If you are not playing in first division in anywhere in the world and in Nigeria, you cannot play for the Super Eagles henceforth,” Oliseh warned at a media presentation in Abuja on Wednesday.

“However players coming from the under-aged teams are the only exception to this rule.” Oliseh said it is an honour to lead the Eagles now as a coach, but that he cannot turn around the footballing fortunes of the country by himself. “It’s a great honour to be a coach of this nation,” he said.

“First of all, I am not coming as a Messiah. I am not coming as a man who can single handedly turn Nigeria to Germany. “I am coming in to do my best and give if possible 150% all the time.

“The state we are now in Nigeria I think we are all not happy with. Gone are the days we have individual players who can single handedly win a match for you. But we have the potentials and that is our belief and the players must know that it’s an honour to be invited to the national team.

Isn't he taken this coaching stuff to abnormal level? I have not heard any country even in Europe imposing this kind of strict conditions on its players. Can this guarantee anything in Super Eagles? According to a statement made available to Pulse by the singer’s rep. List Entertainment, unknown individuals are in total control of the singer’s account and her swindling unsuspecting victims of their money, under the pretence that they represent Wizkid.

Opeyemi Olarinde, the wife of controversial On Air Personality Daddy Freeze has responded to his domestic violence and adultery allegation.

Opeyemi, the mother of Daddy’s Freeze’s three children denied all the allegations. She said her hubby is doing all this to gain public sympathy and attention.

A Nigerian lady evangelist recently granted an interview to Daily Telegraph in Accra over a warning she received in a vision for followers of prophet TB Joshua. Dr. Ayodele, who is the chief medical director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, Ekiti State, made this remark as doctors under the auspice of the Association of Resident Doctors embarked on a nationwide strike. He noted the incessant strike is taking its toll on the health sector in the country.

The doctors are on strike to demand for full implementation of Consolidated Medical Salary Scale (CONMESS) and commencement of payment for the skipping of Consolidated Health Salary Scale 2 to members, as directed by the Federal Government. Ayodele said: “the templates for the implementation of CONMESS and payment for skipping CONHESS 2 have not been released by Federal Government, let alone releasing money for their payments.”

“The Federal Government must start a process of restructuring the health sector. It seems as if the medical officers, including doctors, nurses and others are addicted to strike and this is killing the system. “In 2014, doctors went on strike for over four months while JOHESU was on strike for about six months. Out of about 360 work days, hardly did they come to work for their legitimate duties for 120 days.

“We cannot afford to abandon our responsibilities because we offer essential services.”

Ayodele called on the striking doctors to returned to working adding that he had no plan to enforce ‘no-work-no-pay’ rule. He gave the assurance that workers’s entitlements and arrears would be paid.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has accused the former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of illegally taking $1 billion from the federation account to prosecute the re-election bid of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking at a seminar organized by the Edo State government for Permanent Secretaries, Directors and Deputy Directors, the governor said the former minister also needs to tells Nigerians how the Excess Crude Account was drawn down to $4.1 billion from the peak $10 billion when no approval was given by the National Economic Council for any withdrawal.

The theme of the workshop was: “Enhancing IGR in Edo, Issues, Prospects and Challenges.”

Oshiomhole, who said Okonjo-Iweala would have been declared a pathological liar if she were to be a witness in court due to the inconsistencies in her statements, said a forensic audit would truly determine how much was illegally spent from the federation account under her watch as minister.

He said the state government would now hold Permanent Secretaries, Directors and Deputy Directors responsible for any fraud detected in their departments, saying the government has trimmed down the cost of running government. Obafemi Awolowo University management has declared an indefinite mid-semester break for students. This was the outcome of an emergency Senate meeting held on Sunday. According to the public relations officer of the school, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju, the students are to go home and rest.

According to him, the indefinite mid- semester break for students has nothing to do with the on-going strike by the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU), OAU chapter which has shut down the school.

Members of NASU, are currently at loggers-head with the school management over their unpaid 64 months arrears and have shut down provision of essential services on campus since last week’s wednesday.
