The 7 Division Nigerian Army in Maiduguri has called on the general public especially traditional rulers in Borno State to stop the use of horses as Boko Haram have resorted to it as a means of transportation. The warning was given by the spokesman of the Division Col. Tukur Gusau at the destruction of dry fish worth millions of naira that was seized from the Boko Haram insurgents at different locations in Borno State. He warned that the terrorists have resorted to use of horses, while calling on the general public especially traditional rulers to stop ridding on horses for the meantime, stressing that anyone found using a horse would be considered as an insurgents. Colonel Tukur Gusau informed that the seized fish was another source of funding for the terrorists that has been truncated. He disclosed that the seized fish consist of 2,000 cartons of smoke fish and dry meat that the insurgents carted away from innocent traders. Colonel Gusau said; “we invited you to witnessed the burning of N2, 000 cartons and smoke fish and smoke meat, which they use in funding their terrorism.” He explained that all revenue sources of the insurgents have been blocked both their sources of fuel supply and food. Col. Gusau boasted that all terrorists’ logistics would be destroyed and peace restored to all areas. The Army called on the general public to continued assistance to support “Operation Lafiya Dole” by promptly reporting suspicious movement of vehicles or persons loaded with supplies meant for Boko Haram terrorists - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/09/nigerian-army-bans-horse-riding-seizes.html#sthash.FsrweeLl.dpuf cc lalasticlala seun ishilove

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government of ignoring some reports of sleazes going on in the country. A statement on Sunday by PDP national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh said while Buhari is expected to bring all corrupt persons to justice, especially fund looters, some in his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) are left out of the war against corruption. The party alleged that beneficiaries of corruption and allies of the APC believed that with the new government in place, they were now safe as members of the ruling party. The PDP said it had noted what it described as deliberate resort to diversionary blackmail and overused excuses by APC government to shy away from providing answers to the salient issue of “unprecedented damage” it has done to the nation’s economy in its 90 days in office. “The PDP has severally expressed its support for a holistic fight against corruption and we have challenged the federal government to investigate and prosecute all corrupt persons irrespective of ethnic and political affiliations,” it said. “We are, therefore, appalled that instead of getting serious with the challenges of governance, the APC is bent on inventing excuse for its crass incompetence to create and manage wealth, to the detriment of the nation. “Are we not already experiencing the consequences of abuse of rules such as the foisting of foreign exchange transaction restrictions in violation of the Foreign Exchange Monitoring and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, otherwise known as Decree No. 17 of 1995?” PDP further asked the APC to provide answer to the report by Fitch Rating, which alerted that Nigerian banks and other businesses in the sector were now at risk following the economic slowdown occasioned by the incompetence of the President Buhari-led government. - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/08/pdp-have-accuses-buhari-of-turning.html#sthash.rAiCrJNO.dpuf

A road accident in Swaziland has killed 38 girls and seriously injured 20 others who were on their way to a traditional ceremony where King Mswati III can choose a new wife, pro-democracy activists reported. The accident happened on Friday night when their open truck smashed into a car on the road between the tiny kingdom's two main cities, Mbabane and Manzini, en route to the traditional Reed Dance. "A total of 38 young girls have been pronounced dead, with more than 20 others seriously injured," Swaziland Solidarity Network spokesman Lucky Lukhele said. The Swaziland Solidarity Network campaigns for democracy in the landlocked kingdom within South Africa. "The girls were in an open truck which hit a sedan car stopped on the road," Mr Lukhele said. - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/08/road-accident-have-claimed-lives-of-38.html#sthash.PFHZ2pAt.dpuf

While Mrs. Charity Nwaoha’s lifeless body is lying stone cold in a mortuary, the people she left behind; her husband and relations are going for each other’s throat. Her relations are accusing her husband, Mr. Amaechi Nwaoha of being responsible for her death, a charge he denied. He said that he loved his wife of 18 years and could not have had a hand in her death. Charity died on July 29 in a private clinic, Oluwatosin Clinic at Fagbile Estate, Phase 3, Ijegun, Lagos. She was a staffer of the defunct Nigeria- Arab Bank, and resigned in 2003, when she delved into business until her death. For 18 years, they were living together while Amaechi did not pay the bride price or performed any traditional marriage rite, until 2012, when they formalised the relationship at a local government marriage registry. Charity’s elder brother, Mr. Emmanuel Uduma Ezera, who lives in Abuja, told Saturday Sun, how Amaechi allegedly plotted the death of his sister. According to him, when Amaechi saw that Charity was making a huge success in her business after she left banking job, he shielded her from her relations, who found it hard having access to her. Emmanuel said that at about 10.15 am, last July 29, his phone rang and he picked it, the caller said he was Amaechi, his brother-in-law. “I said, Amaechi, I hope heaven is not falling for you to remember that somebody like me existed.” Emmanuel said he made that comment because for a very long time he had not called him nor any member of their family. Emmanuel said, Amaechi dropped the bombshell, and said: “I just want to tell you that your sister is dead.” “I berated him, and asked him, so you are so foolish that you have to break such news in that uncivilised manner, couldn’t you have applied courtesy in breaking such news? “I told him that he has finally executed his plans of eliminating her. ” Continuing, Emmanuel said: “Amaechi told him that Charity woke up in the morning and after her breakfast, she went back to the bedroom, while he was in the living room with a visitor, called Tunde. After a while, he heard her screaming, and rushed into the room, and noticed that she was breathing heavily. According to him, he called Tunde to assist him take her to their car, and they went to the clinic. “At the clinic, the doctor said she had high blood pressure (HBP), and she was administered with valium injection, and from there she became unconscious. She was pregnant. “As at the time he called me to break that news, my sister was not yet dead, she was unconscious, and from that time, Amaechi refused to pick my calls. I called one of our relations, Sister Rose Edematie, who lives in Lagos to intimate her of what was going on, she told me that Amaechi had called her and she was on her way to the clinic. She got there at about 12pm. I called her to give me situation report, and she told me that there was still a little life left in her, and I asked her to give Amaechi her phone since he was no longer picking my calls, and she did. “ I told Amaechi to rush her to Isolo General Hospital, where proper medical attention would be given to her. He told me that my sister wouldn’t want to go to any other hospital; that it is the clinic she always wanted to attend wherever she was sick. I asked him, how could somebody who was unconscious determine the hospital she should be taken to, yet he refused to take her to the general hospital at Isolo. Even when the proprietress of the clinic advised him to do that, he said there was no car, even it was Charity’s Mazda MPV wagon car he used to bring her to the clinic. Finally, she gave up the ghost before 1pm. “While she was not yet dead, the husband had already started making arrangement for motor hearse to take her corpse home. The vehicle, I learnt, arrived at about 1.30 pm, to convey her corpse home. I warned him not to try that, but he should deposit it at the Isolo General Hospital Mortuary, until I come the following day. While her corpse was in the vehicle, headed for the mortuary, as part of his plans, he told Sister Rose to join another vehicle that was also accompanying them to the mortuary. “ On their way, the driver of the vehicle carrying our relation delayed so much on the way and by the time they got to the mortuary, the motor hearse driver had procured death certificate and doctor’s report and they left for Umuahia, Abia State that evening with the corpse. “I arrived Lagos from Abuja, the following day, being July 30. Surprisingly, he picked my call, and by then he had deposited Charity’s corpse at a mortuary in his village, and he told me that he would return on Sunday, August 2. “Equally, Sister Rose and I went to the clinic where she died. The proprietress told us that when my sister’s condition became critical, they told her husband to take her to the general hospital, but he was giving one flimsy excuse or the other until she passed on. “So, when Amaechi returned, we went to his house several times and didn’t see him. Even he refused to keep appointment and was avoiding us. “On August 5, we went and reported the matter at Isheri-Osun police division, and the following day, the matter was transferred to the Special Criminal Investigation Bureau, Panti, Yaba. “The officer in charge of homicide at Panti was very furious with the shady manner the police from Isheri-Osun presented the matter. The case file was empty. They asked the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) for the doctor’s report, the death certificate and the photograph of the deceased. None of these was in the file. They asked them to go back and produce these necessary documents. “Amaechi has not even done the introduction, which is a prelude to other traditional marriage rites but about three years ago, we heard they had gone to a marriage registry.” Emmanuel said Amaechi allegedly killed her in order to convert her property. “She has three houses at Ijegun and some plots of land. When we were calling Amaechi for a meeting, he said we are coming for our sister’s property and stressed that nothing shall get to us. We are not even thinking in that direction. We just wanted an explanation over our sister’s death.” - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/08/husband-kills-his-pregnant-wealthy-wife.html#sthash.tgSinCFg.dpuf cc lalasticlala

Below is a press statement from the PDP The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) decries as alarming, the damage so far done on the nation’s economy by the President Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) since it took office at the center, three months ago. The party said the shambolic state of the nation’s economy within the period, which represents the worst in the nation’s contemporary history, is a direct fallout of uncertainty created by the inability of the Buhari-led government to chart a clear-cut economic policy, worsened by abuse of regulations, and flagrant violation of constitutional provisions. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, in a statement on Saturday said instead of gains, official reports show that the last three months under the APC-led government have brought a sudden decline in the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), with attendant losses and hardship to the citizens, while the government embarks on propaganda of imaginary achievements, in addition to attempts to foist harsh economic regime to cover its ineptitude. “If not for crass incompetence or a possible ulterior motive to subjugate Nigerians for selfish reasons, what else explains the adamant stance of this administration in running a government without the statutory components of a full cabinet and precise fiscal policy direction, even when the negative consequences of this strange totalitarian approach are taking serious toll on the economy and the polity in general? “Whereas the APC led government is busy with its propaganda of imaginary achievements, official reports from the National Bureau of Statistics show that that the economy is being grounded with Nigeria’s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) plunging with about 2.35%, while job creation has dropped by 69 percent. “In the last three months under an inept and poorly coordinated APC-led government, our nation’s economy, which before now, held the record as the largest in Africa and one of the fastest growing in the world, suddenly plummeted as officially evidenced in the lull in the capital and money market sectors which have lost billions of naira; spiral rate of inflation, and stagnation in domestic and foreign direct investments, with investors scared away due to the uncertainty arising from lack of economic direction and apparent confusion in the polity. “This is in addition to the halt in infrastructure development projects in most parts of the country with associated massive job loss, closure of auxiliary small scale businesses, low purchasing power of citizens, among other negatives that have bedeviled the economy since the coming of this government, despite the much APC celebrated promissory notes from the President’s diplomatic shuttles, especially his recent visit to the United States. “Nigerians would recall that we recently raised alarm on the negative consequences of the recent foreign exchange transaction restrictions, wherein this government is making it impossible for honest Nigerians to engage in free trade and regulate their personal activities as guaranteed by the constitution. “We also warned about the consequences of foisting a communist economic regime with bans and clampdowns on free trade and the freedom of Nigerians to freely open and operate domiciliary accounts as provided by the Foreign Exchange Monitoring And Miscellaneous Provisions Act, otherwise known as Decree No. 17 of 1995 and wondered whether the nation was not heading back to the era of import duty licenses and regulation of commodity prices.“Only recently, Fitch Rating, which, under the previous administration, affirmed Nigeria's long-term foreign and local currency IDRs as well as senior unsecured bond and Short-term foreign currency IDR ratings respectively at 'BB”s, had now alerted that Nigerian banks and other businesses in the sector would be adversely affected by the economic slowdown occasioned by the incompetence of the President Buhari-led APC government. “This is more so as the absence of ministers have left the coordination of important government policies in ministries, departments and agencies in tatters, while creating loopholes for overzealous persons claiming closeness to the President to invade the system for inflated concessions, allocations, jobs and other financial sleazes, including misleading the President for approvals outside his limits. “We invite Nigerians to note that whereas the Presidency has gone ahead to unilaterally deplete the funds inherited in the Excess Crude Account (ECA) and other government savings, as well as reports of engaging in discussions with the World Bank for loans without recourse to appropriate statutory arms of government, no corresponding improvement has been witnessed in the economy. Indeed, we are worried that the damage already done in the last 90 days may linger with us for years to come. “Nigerians are no longer in doubt that they have been scammed with long list of empty promises which the APC government has no intentions or capacity to fulfill. The free meals for school children, allowances for discharged Corps Members, N5,000 monthly allowance for indigent Nigerians, free houses, bringing the dollar to the same value as the naira and other bogus promises for which they were voted into power, have become streams of mirage. Instead, what we continue to witness is the outworn excuse of clearing the so-called Augean Stable, loud propaganda and artful move to appropriate the achievements made by the PDP-led administration; such as the effort in ending polio, the improvement in power supply, the reopening of the refineries, among others which are a dividend from numerous investments by the previous administrations. “Finally, we state categorically that Nigerians are becoming tired and weary of the diversions and propaganda of creating imaginary achievements, dramatization of routine appointments, offering mundane excuses for crass incompetence and orchestrating a selective and witch-hunt of anti-corruption crusade. Famous Nigeria Music Artist D’banj fell in love at an event hosted by Globacom in honor of Prof. Wole Soyinka and proposed to his new girl friend. The event which held at Eko Hotel, was hosted to celebrate the literary icon popularly known as Kongi, however the event turned out to be a specially for D’banj who was billed as star performer for the night, as the Koko Master fell in love with a hot Brazilian lady. Just when everyone thought that the event hosted by Glo had come to an end, as announced by the compere of the night Richard Mofe Damejo, D’banj set the stage ablaze with the old songs which made the world fall in love with his music. He thrilled the crowd endlessly and wanted to add more spice to the awesome event, so he called up some ladies to join him on the podium. Unknowing to him, the sweet ladies were from Brazil. The ladies who came with their mom had earlier made the evening an emotional one when their mom told Wole Soyinka that she and indeed the world were great full for his existence. The dance on stage began and the amazing looking lady from Brazil used her lovely skills to win the Koko Masters heart. So much that he went down to meet her mother who was amid the crowd to seek her permission to marry her daughter. With the aid of a crowd that where drunk with the flow of the former Mo-Hit records star, D’banj engaged the Brazilian girls mother in a dance and she rocked the star like non had ever seen before. It was only at the end of the dance that she told everyone she was 65years of age, a revelation that brought the roofs down in rancorous applause. - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/08/dbanj-fell-in-love-and-proposed-to-his.html#sthash.lUdxtKGS.dpuf

Press statement from revered lawyer, Festus Keyamo The so-called “uproar” over the perceived “lopsided” appointments made so far by President Buhari is nothing but an orchestrated frustration of a few jobless politicians who depend only on government appointments as their means of livelihood and, of course, the noise of the latest opposition party in town. The majority of Nigerians want to see good governance, pure and simple, and care less about the ethnic origin of those appointed into positions. My worry is that the decade-long general division of government positions into “juicy” and “non-juicy”, and the mentality that these few “juicy” positions must be shared equally amongst the major ethnic groups was nothing but a contraption of the old order from which we have just liberated ourselves. To my mind, all government appointments pose an equal challenge to those appointed as a call to higher service of fatherland. All public positions come with an equal responsibility to be honest, forthright and dedicated. To go further to classify them as “juicy” or “non-juicy is just a euphemism for positions that have enough money from which to steal and those that are “dry”. Therefore, any agitation from a section of the country to get “juicy” positions is only an agitation for their kinsmen to be appointed to steal enough from which they would benefit. I therefore unreservedly condemn, in the strongest of terms, the so-called “uproar” about “juicy positions” going only to a certain section of this country. All sections of this country should be happy and content with whatever positions that the President deems fit, at the end of the day, to give to their kinsmen. After all, the President still has a long way to go with appointments. He has not even filled up to five percent of available positions. Please, let the President be. Thank you. FESTUS KEYAMO, ESQ.
