Former Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi said people close to him know that he doesn't like money. He said this yesterday August 2nd during a special reception held in his honor by some of his friends in Abuja,. The comment was made in response to allegations by Governor Nyesom Wike that he embezzled money while in office.

"Governor Nyesome Wike has again sponsored one advert in a bid to rubbish me. Only God knows that if there is one thing I don’t like, I don’t like money. Anybody close to me knows that I don’t like money. The governor and PDP are afraid of me getting an appointment to the national executive council. The current president abhors corruption and the only way they can stop me from getting the appointment is to paint me with corruption. And the people that know me in Rivers State know that I don’t like money. In Rivers, people know I don’t like money.” he said.

An ex-militants' leader, Mr Ramsey Mukoro, has advised the newly appointed coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme to be wary of sycophants as he faces the task ahead.

It will be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari on July 28 appointed retired Brig.-Gen. Paul Boroh as the Coordinator, Presidential Amnesty Programme and Special Adviser on Niger Delta to the President.

Mukoro, leader of the Niger Delta Ex-Agitators Solidarity Front (NDESF),
told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Yenagoa, that the appointment of Boroh was well deserved and commendable.

He applauded Buhari for ignoring the pressure to appoint self-seeking politicians and heeding to the yearnings of the Niger Delta people.

Mukoro noted that Boroh, an accomplished scholar on peace building and a military strategist, had all that was required to transform the Niger Delta region; and urged him to consult with relevant stakeholders on the way forward.

"We applaud the president for his show of sensitivity to the passionate appeal we made to him on the appointment of a competent hand to coordinate the amnesty programme.

One of the high profile murder cases of 2015 has been reported in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Pictured above is a very brilliant and hardworking barber who was murdered in cold by his friend who also works in his barbing salon. Steven Onowa pictured below poisoned Daniel Solomon and beheaded him this past Tuesday, the 28th of July 2015.

According to police report, the suspect owe the victim N750,000 so when it was time for the victim to pay the rent for his flat, he demanded for the money. He allegedly got angry when the suspect couldn’t pay back the money he lent him back in 2013.

A middle-aged man, identified as Chucks from Imo State, has died after consuming 20 sachets of gin in a N500 bet with a woman. The deceased, said to be a barber, is married with a child and lived along Ngwa Road area of Aba, Abia State.

An eyewitness said the deceased had on the fateful day, gone to a nearby local shop situated within the area to take a sachet of his usual brand of gin and boosted to the shop owner that he could finish 20 sachets of the drink.

This was said to have led to an argument between the deceased and the shop owner and other customers in the shop that morning.The argument, it was learned, reached a stage where the deceased deposited N500 and the shop owner also placed her own N500 in a bet. The deceased was then provided with the sachet drinks for consumption.It was gathered that he successfully consumed the 20 sachets of dry gin and went away with the bet money.

The deceased was said to have left his barbing salon earlier that day to his house when he started feeling some pains in his stomach and asked his wife to put on their sitting room ceiling fan and sat directly beneath it.When his condition got worse, his wife asked him what the problem was. A source said the deceased told his wife he was okay, but just needed rest.

Some women in a community in Niger state have reportedly threatened officials of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) with charms. This is coming as the power company has refused to provide them with electricity supply for months, and disconnecting them anytime they want.

The adorable daughter of late singer Whitney Houston has passed on to glory. Bobbi Kristina Brown died on Sunday exactly 6 months after she was found in a bathtub in a condition similar to that of her late mother.

22-year-old Bobbi died yesterday at a care home for terminally ill people. She was surrounded by her family members as she breathed her last breath.

A family representative who released an official press statement yesterday said, ‘Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family. She is finally at peace in the arms of God.’

Her death is now being treated as murder and the suspect is her boyfriend and her late mother’s adopted son, Nick Gordon.

May her soul rest in perfect peace (amen).

Snoop was arrested in Sweden yesterday and he thinks it was a clear case of racial profiling. Swedish police however, say they arrested Snoop because they thought he was driving under the influence of narcotics, but Snoop says he was taken to the station, forced to pee in a cup and police determined he was clean.

He made a video he posted on his IG page where he was seated in the back of the police car saying he's being racially profiled. He posted another video in the Police station while they were making a report on the incident, still claiming he did nothing wrong.

He made 5 videos in total stating the same thing, with some captions of FTP and said that he'll never return to Sweden after this incident.

The incident occurred in Uppsala, Sweden, after a concert he performed in the city.
However, police in Sweden say Snoop's not in the clear.
He says Snoop showed signs of driving under the influence and it will take 2 weeks to get the test results back.

A United State of America senator, Patrick Leahy, has described President Buhari’s opinion on the US law that prohibits assistance to foreign military units that violate human rights with impunity which as “misdirected”.

Patrick Leahy who is the sponsor of the Leahy Law said neither he nor the law could be blamed for the atrocities committed by the “murderers and rapists in the Nigerian military”.

“It is well-documented by the State Department and by respected human rights organisations that Nigerian army personnel have, for many years, engaged in a pattern and practice of gross violations of human rights against the Nigerian people and others, including summary executions of prisoners, indiscriminate attacks against civilians, torture, forced disappearances and rape. Rarely have the perpetrators been prosecuted or punished,” he said in a statement published on his website, www.leahy.senate.gov

“This abusive conduct not only violates the laws of war, it creates fear and loathing among the Nigerian people whose support is necessary to defeat a terrorist group like Boko Haram. “President Buhari ignores the undisputed fact that most Nigerian army units have been approved, under the Leahy Law, for U.S. training and equipment. Only those particular units against which there is credible evidence of the most heinous crimes are ineligible for U.S. aid. And even those units can again become eligible if the Nigerian Government takes effective steps to bring the responsible individuals to justice.

“I strongly agree with President Buhari about the need to defeat Boko Haram, and I have supported tens of millions of dollars in U.S. aid to Nigeria for that purpose. But rather than suggest that the United States is at fault for not funding murderers and rapists in the Nigerian military, he should face up to his own responsibility to effectively counter Boko Haram. He should direct his attention to the Nigerian military, and the Nigerian courts, and clean up the units implicated in such atrocities.”

Buhari had said the law “aided and abetted” the campaign of Boko Haram and urged the US government to review it so that it could provide the needed assistance to Nigeria to crush Boko Haram at meeting at the United States Institute for Peace (USIP) on Wednesday.
