https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYGTP55BMYo There is controversy surronding the official World cup anthem featuring a collaboration by SHAKIRA and a south african group "Freshly ground". Most South Africans are unhapy the song is being sang by a Foreigner instead of a local South African artist and are unhappy. The song is actually a sampling of an old camerounian song Zangalewa. Personally I prefer K'naan version. See both songs below and judge which one giver you boose bumps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ztr96RbMW8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jS7O9RhNa18 |

Personally I really think the song was not done justice by Shakira and lost its African soul. Please compare these two songs and tell me which one actually gives you goose bumps. One is by the Somalian artist K'Naan and the other is the Shakira song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFHO5EfdEQQ&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ztr96RbMW8 |
@ morpheus I find it extremely interesting that you still insist you're in the right. Do you have a particular ulterior motive for wanting to push this so-called "hypothesis' of yours by all means and in the face of contradictory evidence. yes, you say you only meant it as a joke, even though you took offence at the thread being moved to the jokes section. Do you want to tell us what's going on now or we should wait for further verification later, from other sources.
Now I know you really are S.T.U.P.I.D. I took no offence to this thread being movedto the jokes section as its intention was to be humorous at best nor have I tried to drive any "hypothesis" home . I have not postulated anything having to do with whites or non whites in the entire thread. i was posed with a question once that asked why there no white people in the picture and I stated Monkeys did not populate europe so my observations did not reference them in particular. I was trying to stay polite and have a civil discussion with you not knowing that your strategy is to go off on tangents bout subject matters I have not brought up I will not particiapte in your usual childish tantum throwing with no relative substance. Its like a grown up arguing with a six year old child Nomatter how hard you try the child needs more knowlegde to understand what you are talking about. PS@ watch the insults fly |
davidylan:I really don't know when this Monkey business bru ha ha started. I even put a short phrase at the beginning of the title thread just so no one would misconstrue the motives. It is obvious some people want me to admit to things I ahve not implied nor stated so their points can be validated |
Macaca[1] is a pejorative epithet used by francophone colonialists in Central Africa's Belgian Congo for the native population.[2] It may be derived from the name of the genus comprising macaque monkeys. The word macaque has also been used as a racial slur. The macaque's genus name, Macaca, is a latinization of the Bantu (Kongo) ma-kako,[3] meaning "monkey". In the United States, the term was at the center of a controversy during the 2006 United States Senate election in Virginia when it was used by the Republican incumbent, George Allen. Most Americans were unfamiliar with the term until continual media coverage revealed it to be a racial slur. Allen claims to be unaware of its racial context. Relating to the Allen controversy, "macaca" was named the most politically incorrect word of 2006 by Global Language Monitor, a nonprofit group that studies word usage.[4] The word was also a finalist for the American Dialect Society "Word of the Year" that same year. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaca_(slur) You have a problem with people being called Bantu, but you're here saying another thing? You're confused!! If you want non-whites to be cool with being called monkeys, then contact the hiphop and rap moguls to funkify it like they did with ni$$a and b*tch
still don't know how this relates to the topic. However I will try to come donw to your level of reasoning. Accroding to your above post. If hte perogative of the word macaca is racially derived. Thats fair if its orignes should e understood as such. In refence in the word Bantu. My argueements on the issue support the above post as most people are unaware of the use of the word in refence to peoples of Afirca. It has ben used to seperate certain Afircan individiuals on a phenotypic basis when in reality it is more of a language classification. Therefore its use should be restricted mainly to the groups who oare within its lexicton pronounciations. Example calling Most west Africans Bantu is incorrect. Calling a senegaleses person a bantu is incorrect Calling a sudanese east African a bantu is incorrect In addtion the mapping of this langue and the area it encompasses is in continuous review by several African linguists as the basis of this classification did not take several factors into consideration. Thisis the reason bantu should be restricted to its most basic definition which is a primarily southern African derived language grouping |
@ all It seems some brainless people with certain personal issues concerning themselves have hijacked my thread to try to turn it into some personal vendettas they have against each other. It is sad that there are human beings who are as always "enemies of progress". Again this thread has nothing to do with racism in any shape or form as many intelligent people are able to dicern and it is obvious that people with very little knowledge on the subject matter are the ones undoubtedly swooping in to try to come off as intellectuals concerning this matter. Please I urge nairalanders to pull up other threads that I have opened or argued on and judge my intellect against the one known as Tpia. In fact I am throwing down the guantlet at this Tpia personality and challenging you to open up any subject matter concerning RACISM. At the end of the day it will be revealed who is the DUMMY. Let's find out who the jokes on, shall we? |
the fact which you dont want to grasp is: your subject matter is more suitable for stormfront, which is a racist white nationalist site. Why you continue to deny the obvious, is beyond most people here. Seriously, I'm amazed by your stance on this matter. Are you Thor, Mpele or that other white fellow who used to post in travel section. As I recall, you were yelling for him to be shut down, yet see yourself now. Get over your hurt feelings and see what you're actually doing.Ten thousand gutter posters wont help you here. End of!!!
At this junture I have nothing more edifying to say to you, if you can't constitute what is racist in your mind. You are simply blank in the head. |

However I am happy that SOME people have the brain to understand my intentions concerning what I posted instead of turning this into a BANANA REPUBLIC AFFAIR!! OLORUN WA GBA WA O! |
madlady:You are not required to believe anything at all my dear. If you postulate it is coincidence then by all means that is your fair opinion/viewpoint |
^^ what bothers some of us is your sudden metamorphosis from genuine observations to something else. Dont take it personal.
On the contrary . There is nothing personal at all. It is quite the reverse if you ask me. Can you explain the something else cause again I can't comprehend your point. .You are loosing me here Tpia. This whole MONKEY business is driving me quite BANANAS, if you ask me cause some of you are overly sensitive. |
seriously, you should give it a rest, because this will get you nowhere. So you can bend over backwards to prove your monkey photos resemble nonwhites, but as soon as you see a picture which looks white, you make up excuses. Why cant the same apply to your other pictures? anyway, the monkey was named by people more learned than you, and yes, they were white. Seemingly less prejudiced than you as well.
So what bothers some of you is that I didn't include a picture of a white fellow Well here you go Tpia. Happy now!! utterly ridiculous!!
|
madlady:e be like say dem lock you for house if you can't at least point to one locality of the pics.( when I say locality I mean region) |
@ morpheus I helped you out with some of your homework:
THe only thing wey make that monkey resemble oyinbo na the style of the bear bear. shave it off and then compare lol
na fear dey catch you? Or are you genuinely convinced non-whites are the ones of monkey origin. Even Darwin didnt make that distinction. He said all humans, not some, descended from monkeys.
According to the expansive theory of evolution (not darwin), Human beings evolved from chimps and apes not MONKEYS!!!I never made that assertion in the first place. this was a mere observation of PRIMATES. If dem no get cold water drink for wey una dey, make una tell me lol, |
more Africans. Can you identify their localities?
|
@ oyinda The below are "general" representations of people from certain localities of Africa. Suffice to say one can identify them simply by their general characteristics specific to their locality and to prove this I will not label their specific origins but most people will be able to identify their localites.
|
because i don't find it funny? besides, the fact that you had to put "now, i'm not racist but. . " in the title shows that u understand the flaw in the thread. it's not a joke plz stop it. your promoting rubbish. ppl will actually believe this stuff from reading the posts.
There is no flaw in the premise. Its an observation not a conclusion. A scientific Hypothesis and not a scientific fact. The "racist quote" was used in anticipation of people like you who have light bulbs flash in their head and are sensitive about racial overtones in comparisons of humans to monkeys. This thread was initially moved from the RACISM, TRIBALISM section. Someone thought it was obviously funny and moved it to the jokes section. |
you are actually trying to make an "argument" for your ridiculousness? pls tell me why this west african mangabey monkey DOES NOT resemble the west african human below it. [ https://www.ghanabase.com/photos/news/200803/Christian%20Love%201.jpg it blows my mind as well. I thought morpheus was smarter than that!!!
Again you simply are missing the point entirely, my dear. There are several species of monkeys within Africa that do not necessarily resemble their human counter parts. However your point was that the Humans in the pictures are not representative of the Human populations in their localities. I gave you an answer to that. YES! YES! YES! and a resounding YES! they do when comparing them to the monkeys depicted in my first post. Your pics above do not say much only that there are a series of of monkeys in Africa that do not look like the populations of Humans in their locality Stop fighting a loosing battle simply trying to come off as intellectual. It don't work for me babes. |
Maurinho. We hail thee!!! COme coach Naija nah! |
be like say them pay this referee money o! |
Iyineda:You need to go check your dad or mums DNA sample. You are obviously an anomaly of sorts, Again if comparing Humans to Humans one can definitively use the arguement you postulate above in coparing two individuals from the same locality they can obviously differ but you are comparing monkey populations phenotypical facial characteristics to Human population facial characteristics. We are not talking about color, craniometrics or body morphology The men depicted in the pictures are representative of the localities they come from. The example of yourself is an irrelevant sampling. Case in point I could have used either one of these indian men for my sampling even though they look different from each other,
|
harakiri:I'd like to see some links of the good stuff BBC has reported about Nigeria? |
Iyineda:Why do you guys like to look for arguements where there really isn't one. To answer the above bolded part. The answer is: to the Human eye, Yes he does represent all the other men in a given locality. We are not comparing humans to humans here are we? |
This answer is too simple Nigerians within Nigeria borders will prefer to marry someone of their ethnic back ground or closer to their area of origin because of proximity. Nigerians who spread out across Africa will inevitably take on wives from these areas they settle in but probably look for traits that are similar to their cultural values. Some Nigerians are polygamous in culture and so do not see a big issue with taking on second wives if the opportunity arises. it depends on the individual Nigerians outside of Africa will inevitably marry people from these regions depending on their values and customs. Bottom line it depends on your value system and if it is compatible, though some people chuck this fact out the window. They everly regret it when they get much older. IF YOU ARE AFRAID OR DOUBTFUL OF MARRYING A NIGERIAN THEN YOU ARE NOT READY TO MARRY ONE. Simple as ABC |
Normally I always site the BBc''s imperialist news format but in this instance, This documentary was excellent and and eye opener even for the average Nigerian who lives in Sokoto state as to the harsh realities of the city of Lagos. In regards people who are complaining that the BBC's portrayal is negative and creates stereotypes. I say to the people who will percieve lagos and Nigeria as a whole based on this documentary should be labeled S.T.U.P.I.D, why because in this day and age with information streaming out in every direction via youtube and the internet it is easy for one to surf and acquire substantial knowledge about a country as a whole. If someone chooses in this day and age to ask you a question like is the whole of lagos like that? or do they have Street lights in Nigeria? You should either ignore that indivdual as somewhat of a DAFT or SLAP THEM RIGHT ACROSS THE FACE FOR BEIND SO S.T.U.P.I.D |
chosen04:Smartly insane is an oxymoron and Gaddafi has nothing to do with Becoem rich thougt both of them might share symptoms of paranoia. Becomerich appears strange when he is yapping about maps and satellite images. Very incoherant. |
cap28:Tell this to the illiterate leaders we have in Africa who are sick with the disease of greed and stupidity, They simply perpetuate the stereotype |
Monkey giving peace sign Oh, sorry this one na ape, My bad
