It is as much disturbing to you as Homosexuality is to another person so don't ask stupid questions like is it normal in my culture. The question you should be asking is can you find a culture that has existed that found this practice "normal'. When you answer the question then we can argue the question of what defines the transition from a child to adult hood , society or biology? and we can move on to social evolution and elightenment.
