I have an MSC in Electrical Engineering and roamed the streets of Nigeria for 5 years without a job despite my 2:1 and MSC.
So your point still does not hold any water, going to school in Nigeria does not guarantee you will make it, lots of graduates end up as uber drivers and tailors so would it not have been better for them to have focused on that ?

OP never said his father was poor. At old age, it is not unexpected to face the kind of issues the man is going through. You are probably ignorant or just chooses to not understand the term "musician".

The musicians I know are band owners who make cool money every weekend at wedding parties, burials, and other kind of events, etc. If your definition of the word "musician" is someone who spends his life in the studio, broke, and waiting for Don Jazzy to pick his call, then that's a self-inflicted ignorance. Don't project poverty on people who choose to take that path.

If the mother is not cool with that, she should have married a doctor or go back to school to study a career/course of her choice.

His mother lived through the challenges of having a musician as a life partner and she made it very clear that this is not a career path that she is in support of. When he became stubborn to her warning she followed through with her condition and never supported his dreams.

My mother said if I ever enter the entertainment industry that she will disown me if she doesn't kill me so I followed her advice and went to school to find a path that would make her proud.

Op is the architect of his life and he should leave this woman alone and grow the heck up! Imagine an adult crying about their mother when they can go out into the world and do better. Op is a waste man but he won't see that.
