I dont know what the strike aims to achieve......coz the government cannot keep on subsidizing fuel. Their strike is technically to increase minimum wage which will only apply to the government workers and corporate workers with the vast population still the same...

this thing is simple....the government needs money to keep running which at the moment the government don't have, cos over 90% of their earnings is spent on debt servicing....... therefore, subsidy must go!

im also a citizen feeling the pain oooo......but the truth nothing any body can do at the moment....the country has been terribly ran by successive administrations and we are now feeling the results of poor management....

In fact, i believe the worst is yet to come...talking from economic facts and figures without emotions......
who tell u say government no get money… have they cut down their own of governance? They can borrow to share palliatives amongst themselves and u say they don’t have money

Well, I support this. Government should do something....massive investment in Agric, incentive system in agric, land acquisition and seed capital of at least 1million with mechanisation support for anyone willing to go through agric training and go to farm...government have to ensure the security of same. This will decongest the cities, increase productivity, food prices crashing, infact, fuel price will crash....sometimes, I wonder if our leaders even have brain at all.

Have always maintained that the way out of this shit is massive real sector development without which the citizens will live in poverty for eternity.

This is a simple solution. You won't know how this thing bites if you are not the one paying for everything:fuel, food, Tfare, the number of beggars at every corner have increased....

It amazes me that the federal government has done nothing even till now about alleviating the impact of these 'hard' policies on the common man. Equally, the list of cabinet members has not been unveiled. You don't do that except you want to kill your citizens.

Time for politicking is over, they should get the fucking tools and start working.
so u didn’t know he wanted to kill the citizens when u supported him abi

Depends on what yardstick used to measure "better". How do you transform almajiris to skilled data analysts? Or nwaboy to an internationally accalaimed petrochemical engineer? Or that ewo mi da thug to a banking and finance expert? Are we actually moving forward or backward in terms of standards?
Till we give up on tribalism/nepotism and agree to move forward collectively.
hmmm
Politics / Re: Realistically, Can Nigeria Ever Get Better? by Moz22: 12:45pm On Feb 20, 2023
N3TRAL:
Nigeria gets better before our very eyes.

We have better infrastructure. Let me talk about some:

1. When I boarded local Nigerian flights in the early 2000s as a child, I noticed that the aviation industry was operating like Danfo . They could depart from an airport and stop at another airport to refuel or pick passengers in a less-than-45-minutes trip. The industry had 50-year old airplanes operating in the country.

The aviation industry has been completely sanitized. We have Air Peace, Ibom Air , Maz Air , etc purchasing brand new Boeing and Airbus planes for travel. The regulations in the aviation industry have become stricter.
Practical question: How many commercial plane crashes has occurred in Nigeria from 2013-2023? Compare with other decades.

2. Telecommunications:

I still see Nitel Artifacts in my Grandparents house. They tell me of their bad experiences with Nitel. Today we have MTN, Airtel, Glo etc doing promotions for us. Our communication infrastructure has improved over the years.

3. Banking:

Though the interest rate is still terrible. Banking in Nigeria has improved greatly. If you want to understand what the banking industry was like in Nigeria even in the 90s, compare the current Nigerian insurance industry to foreign insurance industries grin. The Nigerian banking industry was transformed in the early 2000s and has one of the best banking infrastructure on earth.

4. How many quality flyovers, interchanges, bridges, malls , roads did Port Harcourt, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Kano, Kaduna etc have pre-1999. How many do they have now?

5. Entertainment and arts:

This is often talked about. This sector has greatly developed to global standards, employing a decent number of young people in Nigeria. About 30 years ago, there was no diversity in media.

Families could only gather to watch what the government wants them to hear on NTA. Today we have Arise TV, Channels and local soap operas apart from "Super Story" and "Papa Ajasco"

6. Fintech: We're leading Africa in future trends.

7. Democracy-

1999-2023 has been the longest period of Democracy in Nigeria.
In 2015 an incumbent president lost. Card readers were introduced. BVAS are going to be used and vote buying is frown upon.
Except you're not logical, there's been an improvement from the 1960s, 1970s, 1990s and even 2007.

If I had the whole day, I'll list more.

The problem is that a lot of citizens genuinely believe that we should be like Switzerland or Denmark if we were progressing and no Nigerian citizen should be hungry grin

your points are valid however don't you think we are lagging behind. I mean, the developments are at a very slow pace

let's not go into he harm money printing causes the o environment via deforestation , are we going to talk about the cost of production, chemicals etc these are affecting negatively. Haven't you noticed paper cost have increased too, these practices are obsolete. Even cars now have smaller windows and headlamps, Phones have thinner benzells etc. Cars bodies aren't as strong as before. These are as a result of increase in world population and decrease in resources and every other parts of the world are adapting why should we keep doing the same thing for 50years.
The main problem here is illiteracy, not buhari, not the election but illiteracy. How will someone with a bank account tell you that he can't accept transfer, so I will have to buy cash to buy another cash to buy from him? I can't comprehend.
sigh

I used think so but with everything going one Nigeria will become one of of the best in he world.my anger is why buhari didn't invite this policy until now. Do you know that even upon naira scarcity some backward fools still insist on not taking transfers? Alot of bus drivers now have their POS, more shops are getting POS but alot of backward individuals have sworn never to move forward in life.

My environment is so silent and I'm wondering is those noise I keep hearing was actually because people were shouting about money too much.
Change takes time and sacrifice!
I share in your sentiments

Victor Olaiya in 1983 released a song titled "Ilu le o, kosowo lode".. yes in 1983. We are currently in 2023, that's 40 f*cking years ago and I'm here asking if there was ever a time when there was money in Nigeria or when the country was void of controversies and disaster.. Idris Abdulkareem who sang Jagajaga in the early 2000s is still alive, if he was to write another song describing nigeria's current situation right now.. I wonder what the title would be or what he would write about.. God help Nigeria

Vote wisely...this election revealed alot about the yorubas that they are tribalistic.
They have been exposed.

Because as at the time Buhari was sick and travelling for medical attention we all was clamouring for him to hand over to a healthy and vibrant Osinbajo. We regretted our action of being stupid to elect a sick old man

But now we have a vibrant and healthy Peter obi contesting but the yorubas because of tribalism wants us to install tinubu again knowing fully well that the world will mock us. The world knows that Buhari is even more healthier than him

The worse part of it is that the pain and memory of the incessant travel for medical check up by Buhari is still very fresh in our mind.not like it happened 20 years ago. It just happened yesterday..
Na wa for yoruba people. They have been exposed completely

rest.. you could have made your point without mentioning a particular tribe. I'm yoruba and a staunch obi follower and I know many other yorubas that are for the movement. Don't further divide this country

Politics / Nigerians Wake Up!!!!! by Moz22: 9:57pm On Jan 18, 2023
If it's not madness or Nigerians are under a spell, then I really don't know what to call it.. University students stayed home for about 8 months yet you still find some of them rooting for the same government that's responsible for that.. fuel scarcity have lingered for nearly a year in some parts of the country, just today, I saw a BAT campaign vehicle queueing for fuel unattended to and I had to be asking myself if we have been cursed. I could count how many times I watched my DStv last month, the thing just waste like that.. no power, no fuel.. even if u wanna sell at #500 per litre, make the damn thing available and accessible.. but apparently the government don't even rate us, no one is been summoned.. no one's lost his or her job yet.. Everything be upside down and so far I've not seen any uproar whatsoever, na only for social media we dey make noise... Police Brutality still never stop yet heads are not rolling.. we dey suffer all these things together yet u are still campaigning for the same party that has confined us to this present state.
Usually before elections.. things dey soft, there's usually cash flow but like this like this, I can't even boast of #50 and I'm not capping o(not attributing to the government) but c'mon.. how have we become so comfortable and thinking that we will always adjust no matter the policy the government chose to implement.. omo I tire oo
