i have a girl friend who is a muslim who later got converted sometime this year . it came to me as a surprise also.
when she told me i told her God will help her cos it will not be easy,

her elder sister found out and told her mum, her mum and dad called me saying i was the pushing their daughter to change, and i should saty, bt i love her and she doesnt want to leave either.i dont want to leave her too,

i have only met them once and ever since i have never met them before, jus a conincidence,
but honestly i wasnt.

what do i do,

2legit2qwt: I’m bringing this up because a friend of mine recently lost the opportunity of securing a job and I only got to know after the fact, meanwhile, I could have easily helped him considering that I’m a good friend to the recruiter.

This friend (the one who didn’t get the job) had previously asked me some questions earlier in the week that suggested he was up to something, he just never told me why he asked and I never bothered to ask. This is just one of many cases of how secretive a lot of Nigerians/Africans are. In this case, someone missed a chance of getting a good job and there are several cases like that.

I’m not sure if it’s a cultural attribute of Nigerians or Africans but my biggest guess to why this exists is the strong belief in the existence of witchcraft. This friend of mine seem to think that I’m a wizard with some spiritual power or something to stop him from getting the job, I wish

A lot of Nigerians have a problem with self-disclosure, they only tell after the fact, some don’t even tell at all. They call you a friend but you don’t know when they’re about to buy a new car, move to a new house, get a new job, travel abroad, pass a test or are graduated from school.
The only thing I know they’re quick to tell is when they’re getting married, not sure why but other than that, you only get to find out about most things only after the fact.

How can you call someone a friend when you never get to experience their success but they’re quick to tell about their failure?

Anyway you are right. When my sisters' friend went to Ireland to have her baby she went to visit her older daughter who she had left in the care of her friend in the UK. She didn't call before going but as she got to the house she saw her daughter from the window washing a heap of plates in the same clothes she was wearing in Naija a year and a half ago, she was looking underweight and very untidy. As her friend answered the door you could see the shock and guilt written all over her face. She felt like crying her eyes out. Her daughter was very quiet and being all clingy, and when they were alone she said she didn't want to stay there anymore, she wanted to follow her mum back to Naija by all means.

This was a girl of about 9yrs old so you can imagine what would become of her in her teen years, when her hormones are running wild. After going through years neglect and misery, she will certainly have low self esteem which will effect her grades and will probably lead to her hanging with the wrong crowd to fit in and boost her self-esteem. Before you know it drugs, sex etc. And we all know that by then the carer will start telling her mum in naija that her daughter is just a bad girl, "Omoboruku" and lift her hands like she had nothing to do with it. Who will blame her? No be her pikin.

Thank God the girl is back in Naija now

Even me, although I was staying with my Mum but she was always working all those unfriendly hours, I'm sure that I would have turned into something else if I hadn't come back to naija. Raising responsible children that will make good grades and make you proud is hard work, its not easy for even parents, so how people leave this responsibility to another person is beyond me.

Oclafsti: My 53 year old mom has Been dating a 28 year old Nigerian for 3 year now. He begged and begged her to meet him from a dating site and she declined and he just kept begging and now here we are 3 years later.hes been In America about 10 years now and lives with his mother and brothers all Nigerian.anyway I know he is using my mom for her money.ive done the math and my mom pulls in about 5 k after taxes a month and still lives paycheck to paycheck and has not a cent left after each month.ive never brought it up to her directly but indirectly ive asked where's all your money go and she says things but they don't add up. I live with my Mom so it's easy to see she's about 2,000 short a month. So unless she's flushing it down the toilet she's giving it to him.i know Nigerians are obsessed with money and I think he fakes being in love for the money but love is blind to my mom. A guy who's good looking and muscular whos almost 30 years younger likes her that's all she sees. What should I do?
