The gang of armed robbers that attacked two banks in Ikorodu two weeks ago have revealed that there was no woman in their group. This is contrary to reports which had earlier stated that the robbery incident was led by a lady with a tortoise on the neck and a big snake around her waist. While narrating the incident, Agbojule Bright, 25, disclosed that ‘million’ called him for the operation and his role in the operation was to stand on the road and prevent policemen from disrupting their activities. Speaking also to journalists was Monday Ikuesan, 37, who confessed to be a fisherman involved in bunkering within the area. Ikuesan, a father of two, also stated that he got N180, 000 for his efforts in the robbery and has since ‘invested’ the money in getting kegs which he used for oil theft. “I was accosted by some people and was forcefully asked to take them over the water or release my speedboat that was how I got involved. Another member of the gang, Monday Omoboye, while explaining his role in the robbery noted that Kakadu, another member of the gang, now at large, asked him to drive them out of the robbery scene, and that is what he always does for them. He confessed further, saying: “Immediately after this last operation, I drove them into their creek in Ajegunle area of Ikorodu and was given about N2million as my share of the loot. Right now, I feel very sad about this incident, but there is nothing I can do.” Outgoing Commissioner of Police (CP) Kayode Aderanti, while presenting the criminals to the public, commended officers of the state police command and assured everybody in the state of the police’s continued efforts in ensuring the safety of their lives and properties. “The vehicles which they bought with their loots are also here for your accessibility as we are assuring you that this command will always ensure the security of lives and properties. “It is very important that I place my appreciation on marble to the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force for the opportunity to serve in this capacity. “I also want to use this opportunity to thank my officers and men for their support and dedication to duty all this period,” he said. A 20-year-old man allegedly murdered his lover, a 32-year-old man over N600 debt owed to him by the victim. The case was brough to the Ebute-Metta Magistrates Court in Lagos State and the accused, Anthony Toms confessed and said he didn’t mean to kill his lover, Sonye Chukwudi. The defendant was said to have arranged some other friends who assisted him in beating the older fellow to death. Other defendants in the murder case are Godwin Francis, 25; Michael Iyang, 21; Evidence David, 23; and Etuk Tony. The incident happened on June 21, 2015 around 9:30pm at Ransom Kuti Garden, Anthony Village, Lagos. Police has suggested that Tom had ordered his friends to tie up the victims hands and legs before beating him, during this Chukwudi lost consciousness and never recovered. READ ALSO: Dead Body Found In Lagos Canal Police revealed that this was all due to Chukwudi owing just N600. The money was for garden flowers Toms sold to the deceased. Toms pleaded guilty to the count charges at the court. Toms said: “I met Chukwudi a few years back. He lured me into homosexualism.I told him that I’m a gardener. He told me he would need me to get some flowers for him.’ “I did, but he didn’t balance me the remaining money, I repeatedly asked him, but he refused to pay me. I thought if I threatened him, he would pay me. READ ALSO: Boko Haram Massacre “I called him on the fateful day and asked him to meet me at Ikeja. We both headed to Anthony. On getting to our destination, I asked him for my money. He said he didn’t have money on him and then I called my friends.” Tom further confessed that they discovered N4,750 on him, and a Symbian phone. Toms said: “We noticed he had fainted and dragged him back to his car, We waited for a while, but he didn’t recover.’ “We took a second look at him and discovered that he was dead then we left him there.” His fellow defendants all plead not guilty and said that Tom did not pay them for any service. The case has been adjourned to July 31, 2015. According to the information provided by Punch, on Wednesday a former minster Femi Fani- Kayode has changed his name following his discharge and acquittal of money laundering charges. The source states that Fani-Kayode said his trial which began in 2008 had almost destroyed his life, his family and his reputation. The former minister said he would be changing his name by dropping his surname “Fani- Kayode” as a mark of honour and respect for the Lord and as a testimony of God’s love towards him.
