@ziga you are the unintelligent one and emotionally unstable one on this thread even stephen wonder can see that. Go back and read all YOUR post on this thread and compare it with the rest. Yours lacked objectivity. If the 80% was based on illiteracy and du.mbness, I will really throw you in there. If after reading some objective and factful post here and you think 80% poverty rate in Nigeria is not generous you must be on crac'k.
Nigerian universities one of the 'substandardest' in the world, poor roads, no light, no business oriented economy, no social safety net, very high income inequality etc. How many people overseas will do aboki, conductors, agberos etc at its crudest form? Nigerians should begin to tackle the problem and not the messenger. Ve visited PH and I saw people (a community) living in houses built with zincs, planks etc. I was really touched.

@Coogar and @brainpulse, you ve really made your points. You dont need to explain yourselves further. Anybody who wants to ask any questions should read your posts for answers. I admire the intelligence and unbiasness although I lol at the comment about alaska. The problem with majority of Nigerians is they are too bias. Rather than tackle the massage they are tackling the messenger. They forget that the remaining 15% is wide enough to accept people on here. Nigeria is poor period. That 80% is outdated. 85% is it today!!!! How many abokis that charge #20 make #300 a day x millions of them in every city? How many 'touts', offloaders. Here is where people eat without being sure of next. BITTCCH PLS!!

An instance of poverty in Nigeria.

Nigerian population 170,000,000
Nigeria Biggest website 804, 201 (over 40 percent owns more than 1 account, More than 60 percent live outside Nigeria).
Youth Population 70 percent
Facebook users, Less than 300k
Twitter users less than 150K
How will they come here when they have not eaten. When illiteracy is off the roof. Nigerians are poor period. 80 percent poverty rate is generous.
Business › Re: Do 80% Of Nigerians Truly Live On Less Than $2? by MrGlobe(m): 1:21pm On Nov 02, 2011
^ and @orikinla. Thank you. Its just about any du.ll and illogical thinking being that will disprove this fact. There is endemic poverty in Nigeria. Even more than 60 percent of University students in Nigeria live on less than 10k a month. Not because of their choice but condition. Now check the ones working, they pay from their salaries to repair their cars from bad roads, fuel for gen and cars, etc. That is why the churches are smiling to the bank because these poor people are trooping in their numbers and giving their #10 and #20 to recieve their 'blessing'. For me, the figure is 82%. I just thought about it
Business › Re: Do 80% Of Nigerians Truly Live On Less Than $2? by MrGlobe(m): 10:36am On Nov 02, 2011
@Op, I already gave you the indices. The index is based on estimates and its correct. I believe it. Don't mistake patriotism for f'oolishness. Mediocrity seem to be the new standard in Nigeria. I asked you, how many people do you think on more than 10K a month in Nigeria? 25% of the 170 million population at best
Business › Re: Do 80% Of Nigerians Truly Live On Less Than $2? by MrGlobe(m): 7:48am On Nov 02, 2011
Am tired of people screaming west conspiracy whenever they publish facts about us. Nigerians are lazy inefficient and not equipped to carry out research and when others do it for them, they scream conspiracy. Is there no poverty in Nigeria? Is it not widespread? Am not also trying to side with the west but it should be weird and bizzare to them that there is no electricity in a full country, no industries, bad and unmotorable roads etc. Poor standard of living. The poorest oil producing nation. Why dont they post these images about S.A when there are slums in S.A? This 80% stuff is supported
Business › Re: Do 80% Of Nigerians Truly Live On Less Than $2? by MrGlobe(m): 7:22am On Nov 02, 2011
^ lol.
@Ross you clearly missed the point. Ok, the poster put it at 10000 a month. Lets ask ourselves, how many Nigerians can afford to spend #10,000 a month. Minimum wage #18000 for a man with wife, children and family. Ve seen conductors/'touts' load buses in Nigeria for #20 which pains my heart. Now how many #20's make #300 and times it by the number of people competing to load these buses. The nursing mother who sells pure water, the ones who dont even have any hope of eating. Over 70% unemployed population (u may still doubt this), how do they live? If we had the credit system in Nigeria, do you think there will be this huge inequality of wealth? I think the 80% estimation is even generous. Ve driven around Nigeria and am sensitive when I see poverty. The people are wretchedly poor. Very poor standard of living and they have adapted to this cuz of illiteracy.
Business › Re: Do 80% Of Nigerians Truly Live On Less Than $2? by MrGlobe(m): 5:18am On Nov 02, 2011
Yeah they do. Our problem is we like to bundle facts in Nigeria. Rather than fighting the problem, you are fighting the messenger. This is a thread where comptroller of prisons say Nigeria prisoners feed on 200 Naira a day nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-794618.0.html
Now compare it with what is obtainable elsewhere. Do you know the amount spent on prisoners in UK or US.
And then the so called almajiri's and other wretched Nigerians in rural and urban centers-those who sleep under the bridge. Do you know how many people and families feed from hand to mouth in Nigeria? Its just illiteracy that is killing the country, thats why people are suffering and smiling.

ME AND YOU BY BRACKET > all nigerian songs this year and am not a fan. If people only listen and appreciate good music. They shld be on top

lol @megastreet. All these Nigerian music stans dont cease to amaze me. So lil wanye now sings in french? Lol. I missed the memo. Lil wayne has been a lyrical dude only that he just sold out because he wanted to go pop. Go listen to his previous albums. Soulja boy is irrelevant, he cant even push records. Nigerian music is trash, its a fact, I cant even listen to those. Damn!
Ps: lol @amblors, you.ve not yet told me who is better than bracket yet? You haven't

lmao,  Welcome to the thrash called Nigerian Music who only people who don't really know music and brainwashed folks adore. Someone said I should name one chinese artist? Really? Is that how you rate yours? Do they  know about your musicians? Keri is in S:A and probably heard the trash over there radio and was like wtf!!!! Wonder what she'd had done if she saw the nigerian cypher or attended a concert without tuface.
Another point is nigerians attach no value to lyrics, everybody that has listened to the song shld have identified the artist. All abot the beats

Its time for Nigerians to stand up and say no to primitive and mannerless elements parading themselves as governors ala This useless aregbesola peter obi and theodore orji who think running a state is a private property. I just finished my little research. Truly beaf is Reno omokri and this is authoritative. Anybody who thinks am unserious or playing with this, well, I don't know what to say. He is pathetic individual. He prefers to keep eating s-h-i-t than to man up and redeem himself. He is to nairaland what aandokaa was to Nigeria during his time. In other news, I see a low esteem individual coming here to brag who he knows and what not in the Nigeria govt! Like who gives a f--uck. All these cheap individuals should learn now

nateves I hope you have peeped this thread www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-789417.0.html Thats what will happen to your business when like Emmanuel rightly said you run ahead of your market. They had the financial muscle, the marketing dollars, the strategy and everything working for them but no market analysis. They should have known Nigeria wasn't ripe for online biz.
Seun, if you are considering a next then don't make it anything of the mess this was. Plan it, know what you want, make up you mind and up the prize so it would be a bit competitive and interesting and so you wouldn't post the second winner smh?

, continued) the writer did not say if he will be running this alone or with a staff? If he will operate from his room or get a secretariat? His escape if he gets turned down by schools and government? There was no target. The fact he estimated 18 million in profits from a 1 million business within no time frame tells me he has no knowledge on the process. Still assumption. No premise, No structure, Poor calculations. Poor planning. I still have others but let me stop here. Now Emmanuel had presentation, a foresight, a target, a framework, a plan, escapes and some 'checks and balances'. He gave a biz plan you can start NOW and start making profits with a million or MORE (I think his plan will work with MoRE). A structure a business can grow on. Infact he brought the business to my door with some innovations Every Nigerian can easily identify with. This guy should submit this to that YoUWIN stuff I saw online. It is straightforward. I wish I can rate the 2ND Entry. Seun at post the entries you paid for, the 5K's.
Peace out
Business › Re: For-Profit Library (Media Rental) Business Strategy Essay Contest by MrGlobe(m): 8:32am On Oct 22, 2011
Okay I finally finished the spotless entry to give him the much needed benefit of doubt but I got the same feeling like my previous post. The writer based 90% of his plan on poor assumptions. Lets brush the online stuff aside (its already a failure as I explained) Talking about ATM payment. You will agree that it is #1 risky for the clients and am not sure you would like to go through the whole modalities and I think Mr. emmanuel explained that well in his write up. Everybody is afraid of internet scam and how will I trust a low budget business starter with my ban details? Banks will not even allow that. #fail
He talked about renting DVD's for #350 and have it delievered by post in a country with a dead mail system, when one can buy the same product at #150
He is spending 750K on ebooks alone without no checks and balances? No marketing/orientation yet? No structuters yet? No logistics yet?

^ You are a piece of s.h1.t! lipsrsealed Now I saw this post before you and refused commenting because I don't want to criticize the writer and run him down. If this is what you mean is good business plan, you need to check yourself into a nearest psychiatry. First, this business is first and foremost bound to fail from the scratch. I lost interest halfway through the write up, because it came to me as an article not an essay, the writer failed to own the business. he was given us instances that cannot apply to Nigeria. I don't know, but you must be very dull for comparing the 3rd and this. There was no research, all I see was saying they will get 18 million from 1 million smh. This is funny. Nairaland I think is rated the second most popular and used website in Nigeria and about 60 percent (or slightly less) of the people who bring this Traffic are Nigerians based abroad. How can the Nigerian youth that cannot assess the internet even understand what you are talking about? Will you buy computers for the potential customers who don't have a computer in their schools, will you get and subscribe an internet for them to keep them connected? You would have even made a little sense if you used phone instead. Nateeves, you have disgraced yourself enough. i thought you are even into business in the first place and I was going into a back and forth with you. I mean, this would not even work in America talk more of Nigeria. The writer seriously lost focus of a profitable and self sustaining business. what if the school refuses to accept the offer which of course they won't? what if the government refuses to accept the offer or even if they do, some corrupt individuals will ask for bribe from the capital to even contact the government, is the business feasible? Does it have a skeleton? So if I give you a million, this is how you will use it? It is very incoherent. Am sorry to the writer for being this critical, but i need to put these things straight. You can't compare apple and oranges and Nateevs is the kind of person that will encourage you when you fail in school and tell you its nothing. But all the same you got your cash, so you can always improve but am not with that at all. This wouldn't be hard to decide.
Seun post the second entry now, nawa o, and other winners please post yourstuffs, don't worry, if its good, I will tell you its good.
PS: @nateevs don't even reply, you have lost your points. go get a paid job. run from business.
