Business / Re: How To Hire Creative People For Your Business by mrinfo(m): 3:48am On Dec 07, 2010
Nigeria has some pretty good online job portals and vacancy listing blog. I've previously hired a Nigerian I've never seen and paid him 10k for a graphic job I needed for a new company, so it works and depends on whether u need to recruit for a long term job or a one time work.
Business / How To Hire Creative People For Your Business by mrinfo(m): 1:43am On Dec 05, 2010
It is always easier to recruit people for technical jobs or specific knowledge based jobs. But when it comes to hiring creative people it becomes a bit more difficult to find the right persons for the creative jobs your organization might require. This is because skills an knowledge can be measured more easily especially through interviews and aptitude tests. Creativity is more abstract and so most times you cannot easily formalize it.
To hire the right type of persons for the creative jobs in your organization you’ll have to consider several actions as listed below;

- Determine the Kind of Creativity You Need; Do you need an employee with the general ability to see and create new solutions or do you need an individual who is creative in a particular field eg Graphic designer. Answering this question will help narrow down your search for right employee.

- Advertise Your Job Vacancies Creatively: If you need creative people to join your organization then you must do creative things to attract them. Placing dull job vacancy ads in the papers will not get those type of creative people you need. Make your job ads more challenging and interesting. You can also find more unconventional places to place your job vacancy ads.

- Use Non-traditional Means for Recruiting: Creative people are mostly unconventional and will easily be more targeted and attracted if you use various creative media to send out information anout your job vacancy. Work your creative mind to come up with new ways of carrying out your employee recruitment. Use new media such as facebook, twitter etc to send out your message on vacancies. Place your job vacancies in high traffic career sites visited by thousands of creative and qualified jobseekers.

- The Job Interview: When interviewing applicants for a creative job position you have to ask the right questions from which answers you’ll best deduce the suitability of the candidate before you. Watch reactions as this tells you more about the candidate’s personality. Determine the level of enthusiasm as they answer questions. If you feel you need it get the help of professional recruiters to help you in your recruitment process but always be part of the process. In the 21st century the business of hiring people is now an important one. Your people will make or mar you.

Ask for Sample Idea or Work: One of the best ways to ensure you get the truly creative people to become your employees is to ask for a sample idea or work of theirs. Be sure to keep the scope within job sector concerned. If for example, you wish a most creative designer your job ad should indicate that you require each applicant to submit a sample of a design work done by him or her. This will give you a sneak view into the level of creativity each applicant has. If possible during the screening process you may devise a means of making them defend their samples or show that they did the work themselves.

1) The issue of his waiver will be revisited
2) Jonathan is afraid of him and will employ dirty politics
3) His hanging corruption cases will be used as excuse by the PDP hierarchy to stop him.
4) His loyalty to the country's biggest and most corrupt party is under question.
Career / 3 Big Reasons Why People Miss Out On Jobs by mrinfo(m): 5:42pm On Nov 29, 2010
The most important reason why most people especially young graduates and school leavers find it difficult to get the kind of jobs they want is Lack of Experience. Most jobs that are worth something require at least 2 years work experience which most job seekers fresh from the university or college do not have. So the job seeker who wants to have a better chance at breaking through the barrier of job experience will have to find a way of convincing the employer that even though he/she lacks experience the job will be satisfactorily done.

People Want Jobs but Lack the Required Skills. If for instance you are seeking a job as an accountant in a firm you ought to have some basic modern knowledge in the accounting field such as Peachtree Accounting, Working with Microsoft Excel etc

The Third and Perhaps not the Least is Lack of Information on Where to Look for Job Openings. The truth is many people only read the papers for vacancies and sometimes visit job and career boards like this one here. There are more better ways to get hold of important job openings. Only the initiated know this. The rest read Tuesday Guardian and other papers that list job vacancies. Once a job is advertised on the newspapers and job boards you have lost control. You are struggling with maybe hundreds or thousands of others that are also interests. There is a better that only people with focus can follow.

Business / Why You Should Fall In Love With Passive Income by mrinfo(m): 5:00pm On Nov 29, 2010
Passive income is the embodiment of getting paid for work you did either once or few times. It is continual and the money you get paid doesn’t depend on whether you came to work or not.
It is very possible to become comfortable through earned income (if you are in the high salary bracket) , but the bulk of riches come from passive income. Income that flows even while you are away, sleeping or even flirting.

While many of us can’t just drop away from our jobs (that is for the strong hearted) we can still fast track our journey to millionaire status by identifying one or two means of getting reasonable passive income which we can even re-invest in more opportunities to get more passive income flow. Nothing stops you from doing your job, working your ass of for the boss and still quietly making money even while in your workplace.

The first step to building a steady passive income to boost your financial status is to do a bit of self-search. Discover hidden passions, dreams, talents and skills you have and try to come up with ways to make them earn money for you in your absence. What you do currently for a living has nothing to do with earning reasonable passive income.

I learnt a valuable lesson when I learnt of the fact that the newspaper vendor who regularly plied my neighbourhood overladen with newspapers and magazines had quietly over the span of 13 years acquired two three-storied residential buildings in a nice part of town. He could decide one day to throw back the magazines and newspapers at his editors’ faces and walk out the door but according to him he still enjoyed his work and the relationship he has built up with his buyers. His children are all in good quality schools and things are getting on well with the fellow. He even talks of soon adding to his real estate holdings. If he can do it, well why can’t you?

Politics / Get Top Jobs By Building Your Network by mrinfo(m): 5:31pm On Nov 23, 2010
Most people sadly wait until when they are in need of employment before realising they actually do not know anybody or anywhere to get help from.

Whether we like it or not in the labour market who you know and not always what you know counts. Many undergraduates while in school never thought it worthwhile to get active and join professional bodies or organizations in their field of career interest. They think that all that was required for them start a bright career was to get good grades. However as is seen upon graduation, it is a whole new ball game out there. They encounter so many other prospective job seekers with equally good or even better grades scrambling for the few jobs available.

Often times when these unprepared job seekers get overlooked by employers for jobs they feel they are qualified for it is attributed to the fact that the lucky chaps who got the jobs got them because they know someone in the employing organization. This is often a wrong assumption. The truth is; the lucky chap mostly likely knew somebody but not in the employing organization. He knew successful and accomplished persons in that particular sector whose views where respected and got these influential people to endorse him as his referees.

Now, I’ve said it. The Referees you use in your cv and job application has a part to play in determining whether you get selected for the job.

Politics / How Ndlea Made Close To 200 Million Naira From Poor Applicants by mrinfo(m): 4:17pm On Nov 16, 2010
About 60,000 applicants turned up for the National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) aptitude test in Lagos which held in the main bowl of the National Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.

The test was also held simultaneously in all states of the federation and Abuja. 60,000 applicants in Lagos amounts to 90 million. And a safe assumption is that at least another 60,000 wrote the test in the rest of the states in Nigeria and Abuja.
Thus the whole exercise grossed not less than 180,000,000 naira for NDLEA.

This is sickening. For a government agency with all its allocations that should cover for logistics such as this to extort from poor job seeking Nigerians is sickening. If it were elsewhere NDLEA would have been submerged in law suits till they return the monies to these young people with apologies.

Imagine if every private and public sector firm starts to follow in their footsteps. The labour market will become one huge extortion market.

And some disoriented people are busy giving reasons to justify the insensitivity of NDLEA heads in this issue.
Politics / Why You Must Think Like A Marketer To Succeed In Your Career by mrinfo(m): 7:29am On Nov 12, 2010
As a worker or jobseeker you are a product. The only difference is that you are a product that is expected to sell itself, so your packaging and quality matters. If one is okay and the other is missing you may not make rapid headway.

Quality means that you have to be valuable you have to have useful knowledge and skills. It is surprising how many people who want to get ahead in life but are not prepared for to take their skills and or knowledge to the level that can attract what they want. Your life everyday should be one of constant improvement.

Packaging is essential for every product including you. It is the first thing a buyer sees. Your packaging begins with your CV and past achievements. With them people you meet in your daily work will conclude if you are worth giving the job or whatever it is you ask for.

You have to begin to think like a marketer who constantly looks for ways to maximize the satisfaction of his customers. Think always of how you can improve your personal values. Advertise yourself to employers and your bosses. If you are a good product then let the whole world know about you.
