It is an action you can decide not to take but when you actually follow it brings a little more bit of luck in your endeavours and career. And everybody needs luck, don’t we.

Overlooking to Pay Yourself: As much as you should give to charity it is crucially important that you pay yourself first before even your creditors. Set aside 10 to 15% and have it packed in an investment account from where you make investments as you deem fit.

These tips are simple and most probably what you have known already but implementing them successfully will improve your financial well being and that of course is not so easy. Can you get started today?

Despite the economic recession of recent times there has never been a time of lower employee retention as workers move rapidly between firms in search of greater fulfillment and perhaps income.

Once we had to recruit a few new hands in our company. We advertised the vacancies and were surprised to see quite some applicants who already had decent jobs in companies that were guaranteed to pay them more than we would ever be able to since we were a startup with lean resources. They probably didn’t know that or maybe were so uncomfortable with their current jobs they so much would welcome any reasonable alternative.

I asked a particular employee with a financial services firm and he just insisted he wanted to move on citing discomfort and lack of motivation.

Employees, everyone knows, are very important pillars of any successful business and when especially good hands want out on regular basis it spells danger for the organization. When an employee wants to leave a company it may be as a result of the following;

Flamboyant Businessman Richard Branson would say that was what his friend and advisor Freddie Laker always advised. It is a good advice. If you believed before that you needed tons of money to be able to fight for a reasonable share of the market with the other giants it’s time to change your thoughts. Things may not always be what they seem.
The big companies may have got so much money more than you do at present. They can afford to blow millions on costly TV adverts and empty promos. They can afford to hire and pay the best over-rated ego bags around but you may not have such liberty.

But you are yet to consider your own advantages. It’s time to look at them and get into the battle for market share believing you and your company stand a chance. Can I give a mix of magical strategies that will instantly make your David-like organization defeat the goliaths? Not sure.

But what we can explore together will put your small organization in a position to outsmart and maybe even pull the rug from under the big dominating companies with a few years of consistent application and performance.
The Basic Strategy will be to identify some strengths and then to explore them as quickly and as consistently as possible.

Working On the Weakness(es) of the Competitor
Richard Branson identified that one major weapon his Virgin Group used in entering markets with already imposing competitors was to seriously look for prime weaknesses of those big organizations and to get to work quickly exploiting them. In other words they launched into such markets using the competitors’ weak points as their own strong points. A most successful example where this worked for them was the case of Virgin Atlantic and British Airways in the UK.
If you look hard enough most big business organizations have fundamental weaknesses (mostly one or two) that can be exploited for the gain of the small competitor. Once you and your team locate a weakness strong enough to give you a share of the market if you enter with the right answer by all means enter. Prepare your strategy of alternatives and push your better offering to the market as aggressively as you possibly can.

a minimum wage is the government saying that paying anyone BELOW this rate is criminal, so of course it's going to be low, its the BARE MINIMUM you're allowed to pay someone

does that mean government workers make minimum wage? no
does that mean the average nigerian is supposed to live off minimum wage? no
does the government control what private parties pay their employees? no.

Also, the FEDERAL minimum wage is a benchmark for STATE minimum wages, a simple way of making sure the STATES don't set their rate below that set number.

That Manchester City despite all their purchases and millions spent on buying players cannot beat their city rivals Manchester United shows that they are not yet ready for the premiership title.

Today again after much speculations and even with the addition of another striker Edin Dzeko to their team they failed to grab the points against the Red devils.

I have nothing much to say than that their big money gamble is surely not paying off not as Chelsea's did. Manchester City it appears have a few more years to wait and work for trophies to start coming in.

For one they should stop making useless and costly purchases in the transfer market. They never needed Dzeko after they had splashed almost 25 million pounds for Balotelli.

When Deloitte release their annual list of ‘Richest Football Clubs’, there’s plenty of debate on English football’s earning power, the individual TV deals negotiated by Real Madrid and Barcelona, Manchester United’s position at the top of the Premier League food chain, insane amounts of debt in the game, and so on.

I thought it would interesting to take a closer look at where exactly football clubs are earning their revenues from – and thanks to Deloitte’s data on % of revenues earned through matchday, broadcasting and commercial activities, we can draw the following conclusions (all data pulled from the Guardian):
Commercial Revenues

Bayern Munich are miles ahead of the competition when it comes to commercial revenues, with a whopping 171.19m Euros earned in 2009/2010. Real Madrid are 2nd with 149.12m, with Barcelona 3rd at 123.41m Euros in 09/10. United are, predictably, the best performing English club with a ‘paltry’ 97.94m Euros. This tells us three things:

One, you can’t ‘blame’ TV deals as the only factor in Madrid’s and Barcelona’s financial strength.

Two, English clubs have, theoretically speaking, a lot of margin to improve when it comes to commercial activities, and this in part is behind their bullishness in being able to manage their debts / meet UEFA’s FFP policy.

After the first reading of the National Minimum Wage amendment bill yesterday, the House of Representatives pledged a rapid delivery of the new law that will enforce the N10,500 pay rise announced by the government last year.

With two more readings, that will include committee considerations and plenary approvals, the proposal sent in by President Goodluck Jonathan after tense negotiation with the Labour, will soon be law, allowing civil servants to be paid N18,000 minimum.

The Deputy Speaker, Usman Nafada, said the processes, normally stretching through 24 weeks at the least, will be finalised “soon enough” to allow for presidential assent before current legislative session ends in May. “We have done it before and we will do it again,” Mr. Nafada revealed this at a meeting he had with the leaders of Labour Congress and other affiliate groups , shortly after the bill’s first reading on Tuesday. “It will be passed before the end of their tenure, not on the day of their leaving, but about one or two months away to allow the president enough time sign it,” he said. The Labour officials said they came to appreciate the legislators for giving attention to the bill and to lobby for more commitment.

The new wage benchmark has formed a significant rallying point for Mr. Jonathan’s administration as the president presses for wide political support from public and private sector workers alike, ahead of April general elections. A prolonged negotiation that forced the amount down from the N52,000, NLC insisted on before.

Addressing the lawmakers yesterday, NLC, led by its president, Omar Abdulwaheed, said workers are a “patient” bulk, and are thankful to the lawmakers for their expeditious attention to the bill. “We want to thank the House very much for the commitment it has shown so far to get this bill passed,” he said. He however tasked the members to accelerate the passage of the bill, well awaited by workers.

Chelsea’s Ashley Cole has won England’s player of the year award after missing just three games for his nation last year.

Cole was one of the few players to return from the World Cup in South Africa with his reputation intact and continued his form into England’s 2012 qualifiers to leave the likes of Aston Villa’s Stephen Warnock and Everton’s Leighton Baines watching on from the sidelines.

The award will come as a surprise to many due to his often strained relationship with England and Premier League opposition fans, but near faultless performances for the Three Lions have not gone unnoticed by fans.

Cole is widely regarded as one the best left-backs in the world and even though he has was once jeered by England fans at Wembley after allegations around his private life, this didn’t stop Cole from topping the online fan poll.

Carlo Ancellotti may have won two CL cups but sometimes he still acts daft and goes about his tactics in a sadly predictable manner. He and he alone cost Chelsea the full points on Sunday at the Bridge.
1. He played Torres and Drogba together (Two incompatible players who needed more training together to have a chance of blending)
2. He sacrificed his wingers to accomodate the two strikers mentioned above and thus for a large part of the game Chelsea tried to play from the middle which was not their style and of course was difficult with Liverpool playing three central defenders
3. He left the changes too late when they had conceded. Should have made the changes earlier seeing how badly they were playing
