Funny how some people think they can change the pastoral way of life of the average herdsman. The fulani man wont allow any forces to suppress and oppress him and his way of life.

Cattle colonies as sugested by some people is the only solution that might bring a lasting peace to the crisis between the "herdsmen" and whoever they normally have clashes with.

Btw, I can See how Nigeria media houses have lunched some sort of WAR against the fulani tribe and our way of life, but am not bothered because i know they will never succeed.

HealthLassa Fever: Anambra Bans Drinking Of Garri by mrkunlex(op): 7:31am On Jan 24, 2018
The Anambra State Government has prohibited the drinking of garri in the state as a measure to prevent the contraction of Lassa fever.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Akabuike, announced the ban while educating residents of the state on measures to prevent the disease, which is spreading in parts of the country.

He said, “The garri you see spread along the highway while you’re travelling is very risky to consume, especially when you drink it. It is better and surer consuming the ones you prepared yourself. We are by this enlightenment prohibiting the drinking of garri in the state.

“Like any other form of disease, good hygiene practices and taking precautions over all forms of symptoms among family members and friends will go a long way to curb the spread of diseases.

“Hand washing remains an effective way of preventing diseases. Families as well as corporate organisations should re-adopt the use of tip taps and hand sanitisers placed in public places.”

Meanwhile, medical doctors across Kogi State on Tuesday gathered in Lokoja to pay their last respects to their colleague, who died of Lassa fever on Sunday.

Ahmed died in Irrua, Edo State at the age of 30 after attending to a seven-month-old baby, who died a day after it was admitted.

At a procession held at the Federal Medical Centre Lokoja on Tuesday, doctors expressed their grief in songs.

They ended their procession at the administrative block of the FMC where the Chief Medical Director, Dr Olatunde Alabi, addressed them.

Alabi said, “Actually, the late Dr Idowu Ahmed is one of our new doctors that we have here and he has been very hardworking and dedicated to his duties. We are aware that there is an epidemic in the country and we are trying to put our own measures in place so that we don’t have further spread of the disease.”

The Kogi State Chairman of Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Godwin Tijani, told one of our correspondents that persons, who had contact with the deceased, had been quarantined.

“We feel saddened by the death of one of our colleagues. He is a young chap and after two months, he is no more. We will forever miss him.

“As I speak to you, some of his colleagues who had contact with him have been quarantined and some of them had started taking drugs to ensure the effect is not felt,” he said.

PoliticsObasanjo’s Advice To Buhari Courageous, Patriotic – PDP by mrkunlex(op): 7:17am On Jan 24, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party has described the
counsel by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that
President Muhammadu Buhari should not run for
second term in 2019 as courageous, timeous and
Olusola Fabiyi, Abuja
patriotic.
It added that the advice had vindicated its position on
President Buhari and the All Progressives Congress.
The party however rejected the call by Obasanjo for
the emergence of a third force, saying that such
would amount to repeating the same alleged blunder
that it claimed brought in what it described as the
“ideologically vacuous APC and the Buhari
Presidency” which it said had wrecked havoc on the
nation in its almost three years of governance.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan,
in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, said the fact that
President
Buhari and the APC have irredeemably
failed the nation was obvious to all, adding that
Nigerians have already taken an irrevocable position
against them ahead of the 2019 elections.
According to Ologbondiyan, Obasanjo’s counsel had
rekindled the fate of the people in the democratic
process, stressing however that the solution “does
not lie in creating another political quicksand in a third
force
but consolidating on a rescue mission with the
repositioned PDP which Nigerians have already
embraced.”
He said Nigerians would recall that in the heat of
2015 elections, many citizens, who claimed to have
become tired of the PDP and its government, opted
for a coalition of strange bedfellows who he said had
little or no experience in governance as a vehicle for
electoral victory.
He said, “Expectedly, in their confusion, they have
plunged us into this regrettable situation that has
brought our nation to its knees.
“PDP maintained that repeating the old mistake of
congregating political strangers cannot help our nation
at this
time, more so, when the few concerns raised
by the former President about the PDP no longer
obtain under the refocused and rebranded PDP.
“The PDP is now standing on a truly democratic
ground that perfectly represents and reflects the
hopes and aspirations of all Nigerians
irrespective of their class, creed or tribe.
“That is why our great party has now, more than
ever before, become a centre of the new patriotic
and broad-based engagements by well-meaning
Nigerians and coalitions across the board, including
past leaders, in rekindling our democratic process that
places priority on returning power to the people.
“The fact is that Nigerians overrated President Buhari
in 2015 but they have now seen that he never
possessed the capacity and the required aptitude to
effectively govern our great nation and pilot a
healthy economy.
“This accounts for the reason former President
Obasanjo, just like most Nigerians today, are
concerned about the quality of presidential candidates
to
be presented by various parties for the 2019
election.
“The fact is that while the APC is already caught up
with President Buhari, the PDP is open for a new
engagement that will throw up the President, which
our nation truly deserves at this crucial moment.”

PoliticsPresident Weah Makes First Appointments by mrkunlex(op): 7:22pm On Jan 23, 2018
appointments less than 24 hours after his
swearing in on Monday.
Seven names made the first batch of appointees,
including former Senate Pro-Tempore Gbezohngar
Findley, who has been named Minister of Foreign
Liberia’s President George Weah on Tuesday made his
first
Affairs.
Findley, according to local media, is close ally of
immediate past President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, and
staunchly supported Vice- President Joseph Boakai at
the initial stage of the campaign period.
He reportedly dumped Boakai, who ran for the
presidency on the platform of the Unity Party and
aligned with Weah, heavily campaigning for him in
parts of the country.
This fueled speculations that Weah was receiving
support from Johnson-Sirleaf, who was recently
expelled by the UP for anti-party activities.
Maj.-Gen. Daniel Ziankahn was immediately retired
as the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia
and appointed the Minister of National Defence,
subject to Senate confirmation.
Ziankahn replaces Brownie Samukai at the defence
ministry, which is in the middle of an alleged
wasteful spending of “welfare and supplementary
pension benefits” of members of the Armed Forces.
Brig. Gen. Prince Johnson takes over from Ziankahn
as the new Chief of Staff of the AFL.
Weah named Chairman of the now ruling Coalition
for Democratic Change, Mr Nathaniel McGill as the
Minister of State for Presidential Affairs.
Samuel Tweh, a long-time member of the CDC, is to
serve as Minister of Finance and Development
Planning.
Until his appointment, Tweh worked as an economic
consultant at the Millennium Challenge Corporation
under the Ministry of Finance.
The president appointed Mr Charles Gibson as Minister
of
Justice, and Mr Sam Mannah as Press Secretary
with immediate effect.
Weah has directed that the heads of other
government ministries and agencies remain in place
until further notice.
Meanwhile, some Liberians have urged the new
president to honour his promise of holding
government officials accountable to the people.
Powered by RubiQube Ad Network
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in
Monrovia, one of the respondents, Saah Clinton, a
retired soldier, advised Weah to show courage and
do the right thing in the interest of Liberians.
“Although, I am confident in the president’s ability to
crack down on corruption as promised in his inaugural
speech,
it takes a lot of political will and courage to
do that.
“The president should carry the masses along in
whatever decision he takes against powerful
government officials, and the people will stand by
him,’’ he said.
Weah in his inaugural address renewed his promise
to tackle endemic corruption especially in the public
service, vowing to prosecute corrupt government
officials “to the full extent of the law’’.
“As officials of government, it is time to put the
interest of our people above our own selfish interests.
It is time to be honest with our people
“For those who do not refrain from enriching
themselves at the expense of the people, the law will
take its course,’’ the president said.

https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/buhari-obasanjo.jpg

Elder statesman, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on Tuesday, slammed the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government for performing below the expectations of Nigerians.

Obasanjo, who ruled Nigeria at different times as a military and democratic president, had in a strongly worded letter titled: ‘THE WAY OUT: A CLARION CALL FOR COALITION FOR NIGERIA MOVEMENT’, highlighted the failings of the ruling All Progressives Congress-led government.

The PUNCH brings you six quotes from the former Peoples Democratic Party stalwart.

Poverty
“Already, Nigerians are committing suicide for the unbearable socio-economic situation they find themselves in. And yet Nigerians love life. We must not continue to reinforce failure and hope that all will be well. It is self-deceit and self-defeat and another aspect of folly.”

Insecurity/Herdsmen menace
The herdsmen/crop farmers issue is being wittingly or unwittingly allowed to turn sour and messy. It is no credit to the Federal Government that the herdsmen rampage continues with careless abandon and without finding an effective solution to it. And it is a sad symptom of insensitivity and callousness that some Governors, a day after 73 victims were being buried in a mass grave in Benue State without condolence, were jubilantly endorsing President Buhari for a second term!

The second is his poor understanding of the dynamics of internal politics. This has led to wittingly or unwittingly making the nation more divided and inequality has widened and become more pronounced. It also has effect on general national security.

Poor economic management
“The third is passing the buck. For instance, blaming the Governor of the Central Bank for devaluation of the naira by 70% or so and blaming past governments for it, is to say the least, not accepting one’s own responsibility. Let nobody deceive us, economy feeds on politics and because our politics is depressing, our economy is even more depressing today. If things were good, President Buhari would not need to come in. He was voted to fix things that were bad and not engage in the blame game. Our Constitution is very clear, one of the cardinal responsibilities of the President is the management of the economy of which the value of the naira forms an integral part. Kinship and friendship that place responsibility for governance in the hands of the unelected can only be deleterious to good government and to the nation.”

Nepotism
“One is nepotic deployment bordering on clannishness and inability to bring discipline to bear on errant members of his nepotic court. This has grave consequences on performance of his government to the detriment of the nation. It would appear that national interest was being sacrificed on the altar of nepotic interest. What does one make of a case like that of Maina: collusion, condonation, ineptitude, incompetence, dereliction of responsibility or kinship and friendship on the part of those who should have taken visible and deterrent disciplinary action? “

Condoning misdeed
“There were serious allegations of round-tripping against some inner caucus of the Presidency which would seem to have been condoned. I wonder if such actions do not amount to corruption and financial crime, then what is it? Culture of condonation and turning blind eye will cover up rather than clean up. And going to justice must be with clean hands.”
