Islam is a "religion of peace" I wonder really  if   anyone  believes  that any  more .The cry of the muslim world isn't if you burn our book we will still love you and pray for you. Instead it is if you burn our book, draw pictures of our prophet we will kill you and cut off your head. How does that equate to a religion of peace? Where are the voices of the "moderate muslims" telling their more extreme Muslim neighbors to be tolerant, loving, kind and peaceful even in the face of the burning of the Koran? Where are you? I want to hear your voices in this? Or do you really believe that someone burning a book is worth hurting and killing people over?
The silence from leading Muslim figures is deafening at times. Whether that be through fear of recrimination is hard to judge but all the same it's time for these people to lead by example and show there fellow Muslims that violence is not the answer.

Its one thing to protest by burning a few books and quite another to support and promote mass murder and holy wars which is what these muslim clerics were effectively doing. Looking back at the incident that occurred at the University of Ibadan some six weeks ago where a young lady went evangelizing in a mosque the universal opinion of people commenting on the event was the she was lucky to have done that here had it been further up north she would have been murdered as  well as  any helpless  non-muslims   within  the  location which in itself is telling of the religion and its majority adherents in northern Nigeria as well as the world over.

The west , Christians (in  the  mind of  the  muslims  both  are  one  and  the  same)and indeed much of the world has learnt that speech is just speech. Whether the speech is harmful depends entirely upon the decision of the listener. This is how we can allow free speech and also how we have freed ourselves from authoritarian rule. If muslims are willing to turn to violence over the speech of any foreign crackpot, they will forever live in servitude and be treated like children by whoever is brutal enough to intimidate them. The decision to be offended rests entirely on the listener, no matter how offensive the intention of the speaker(i  personaly  lernt  that   growing  up  with  disagraable  younger  ones otherwise  it  would  have   been  a  fight everyday). That is the sophisticated viewpoint, but then sophisticated civilizations don't flog and stone their women, either they also don’t amputate  poeple  for  steling   even  when  it  is  obviously  to  assuage  hunger  or decapitate people who are accused of defiling books related to their religions ( Jangebe , Gideon Akaluka anyone?).
We may rail rant and rave against Pastor Jones as much as we like (i  personally didnt  think  what  he was  about  to  do  was   right) but the fact remains for any honest individual be him muslim or not is that Pastor Jones by subsequently agreeing to cancel the planned burning of the quran saved the muslim worldwide and islam itself from being uncovered for what they /it really stand for  death and destruction. How ? Just the prospect of the burning had the United States and not a few other governments around the world raising alert levels to Defcon 1 .If the burning had proceeded it goes without saying there would have been serious acts of extreme violence against not just Americans but defenseless Christians all over the globe killings mutilations church burnings and the like. This much was implicit in the protestations and warnings made by the muslim leaders who are referred to as “moderates” who virulently condemned Pastor Jones but did not say a word to dissuade the adherents of islam to refrain from violence indeed words like "retaliation" and "backlash" were bandied about by these moderate leaders. RETALIATION!!!! pray  did  Pastor  Jones  Assult  anybody  in  anyway?
Had Pastor Jones burnt the quran which was his constitutional right by the way the “ backlash and retaliations “ ensuing would have convinced even the most self deceiving leftist liberalists and politically correct individuals that islam is a “religion of peace” ….well if everyone else is a muslim or dead: go figure .

Can anyone tell me a religious book that does not think that the people who are not in that religion are disbelievers? The Jews call not jews, gentiles, among other terrible names. Even if you are a jew by religion, but not by ethnicity, you are still a gentile. The christians call non christians disbelievers, and in the book of Timothy, infidels. The Aitheist consider non atheists morons, demented, drunks, idiotic, etc, just for saying there is a God, true God or not. Every religion classifies those who are not in its camp enemies. The children of Israel under Moses killed and wiped out scores of ethnic people and nations based on either or for the two reasons listed above; their unique ethnicity and their unique religion. Today in palestine, you hear them ranting that the land of palestine was given to them by God, regardless of their disobedience to that God. The christians sent bombs on Iraq in each of the 3 wars from 1991 till today with inscriptions ranging from Jesus is God to say Hi to your Allah.

Details of Rooney’s alleged infidelities came to light on Sunday after the Manchester United forward decided not to pursue a super-injunction to suppress the allegations.
They included claims that he slept with the prostitute while his wife Coleen was pregnant.

In recent weeks three other England players have successfully obtained gagging orders to prevent the publication of claims about their private lives.
The Daily Telegraph understands that Rooney considered applying for a super-injunction on the grounds of privacy.
But the footballer was advised that such any such application would probably fail, because he has previously chosen to share intimate details of his life with the media.
In 2004 Rooney spoke publicly of his “regret” at visiting massage parlours and prostitutes as a teenager, insisting that the incidents took place before his relationship with Coleen when he was “very young and immature”.
The Rooneys also sold the photo rights to their 2008 wedding to a glossy magazine for a reported £2.5 million – a fact that would have been considered by any judge considering an application for privacy.
The latest allegations, published in the News of the World and Sunday Mirror, centre on a 21-year-old prostitute who claims she had a series of encounters with Rooney, 24, while his wife, also 24, was expecting their first child last year.
Jennifer Thompson, who charges her clients £1,200 a night, claimed that on one occasion the England international invited asked her to come over to his family home for sex, while his wife was away. She says that she rejected the offer out of respect for Coleen, who gave birth to Wayne’s son Kai in November 2009.
The Rooneys, who are represented by the same spokesman, declined to comment on the allegations, which are understood to have been circulating among football fans in Manchester for several weeks.
But Max Clifford, the leading celebrity publicist, said that Rooney’s advisers decided not to fight publication despite being made aware in the middle of last week that the tabloid newspapers planned to run the story.
He said: “I’m not involved in the case directly, but I understand they wanted to bring an injunction but were told it was unlikely to work. They feared that the fact that Wayne had previously spoken of his shame at sleeping with prostitutes would count against them.”
But experts believe that Rooney’s decision not to block publication will not set a precedent, at a time when increasing numbers of high-profile figures are turning to the courts to suppress negative stories.
In addition to the threeEngland footballers, the Scottish golfer Colin Montgomerie recently won an injunction against a tabloid newspaper following claims about his private life.
Civil liberties campaigners have accused judges of introducing a privacy law by stealth.
Mr Clifford said: “I think Rooney was badly advised. Despite the circumstances of his case, he still had a good chance of obtaining an injunction. Most judges are still very much in favour of privacy.”
Rooney is due to fly out to Switzerland today for England's Euro 2012 qualifier on Tuesday.
Football Association sources indicated last night that he was still expected on the plane, and that no decision had been taken about whether his place in the squad would be affected.
Rooney starred in England’s 4-0 win over Bulgaria at Wembley on Friday night, but was widely criticised for a lacklustre World Cup.

LONDON (Reuters) – God did not create the universe and the "Big Bang" was an inevitable consequence of the laws of physics, the eminent British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking argues in a new book.

In "The Grand Design," co-authored with U.S. physicist Leonard Mlodinow, Hawking says a new series of theories made a creator of the universe redundant, according to the Times newspaper which published extracts on Thursday.

"Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist," Hawking writes.

"It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going."

Hawking, 68, who won global recognition with his 1988 book "A Brief History of Time," an account of the origins of the universe, is renowned for his work on black holes, cosmology and quantum gravity.

Since 1974, the scientist has worked on marrying the two cornerstones of modern physics -- Albert Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, which concerns gravity and large-scale phenomena, and quantum theory, which covers subatomic particles.

His latest comments suggest he has broken away from previous views he has expressed on religion. Previously, he wrote that the laws of physics meant it was simply not necessary to believe that God had intervened in the Big Bang.

He wrote in A Brief History , "If we discover a complete theory, it would be the ultimate triumph of human reason -- for then we should know the mind of God."

In his latest book, he said the 1992 discovery of a planet orbiting another star other than the Sun helped deconstruct the view of the father of physics Isaac Newton that the universe could not have arisen out of chaos but was created by God.

"That makes the coincidences of our planetary conditions -- the single Sun, the lucky combination of Earth-Sun distance and solar mass, far less remarkable, and far less compelling evidence that the Earth was carefully designed just to please us human beings," he writes.

Hawking, who is only able to speak through a computer-generated voice synthesizer, has a neuro muscular dystrophy that has progressed over the years and left him almost completely paralyzed.

He began suffering the disease in his early 20s but went on to establish himself as one of the world's leading scientific authorities, and has also made guest appearances in "Star Trek" and the cartoons "Futurama" and "The Simpsons."

Last year he announced he was stepping down as Cambridge University's Lucasian Professor of Mathematics, a position once held by Newton and one he had held since 1979.

"The Grand Design" is due to go on sale next week.
