You may be right on your worries about SAFETY ISSUES, bearing in mind Nigerians legendary prospensity for short-cuts and tardiness but Nigerians are not from Mars and if we are to grow our economy, Power is the First Problem we must solve.

There are alternative sources of energy but take it from me that NOT ONE SINGLE INDUSTRIALISED NATION HAS BECOME INDUSTRIALISED WITHOUT HAVING AT LEAST ONE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT. NOT ONE, ANDNIGERIA WONT BE AN EXCEPTION.
Nuclear Power source is the fastest and the cheapest (in-terms of return on investment) source of electricity and we must embrace it, if we are to cross over to the league of industrialis(ing) nation or even "developing" nations.

What we need to do is to mitigate against the risks involved. Even Japan, despite their advancement and knack for dilligence, they still had "an accident", so it is not entirely about how dilligent we can be.
We just need to seek help, make sure we deal with saboteurs (Politicians and Civil Servants who collect Bribe to subvert safety measures, by firing squad!) and deliver a safe Nuclear plant.
I am not sure if Russia or China are our best options but we all know that the Europeans and Americans wont want us to have it because they see our development and advancement as innimal to their own foreign policy on theblack people, especially Nigerians because that would reudce the amount of influence they have on us and Black Africans in general, so going to them might also mean an endless wait for delivery, nto to mention their flip-flop on policies.
Maybe we can have a consortium of contractors from bot "East and West" such that the "East" (Russia/China) builds, while the West (Germany, Canada or another European company) Vets and ensure safety and rule-management.

But the bottom lin eis that we need to act fast and get it built, before looting Politicians who cannot deliver the Lagos Ibadan expressway since 1999., steal the money again.

You just said it all.

If nuclear project must succeed in Nigeria, two things are important.

When a country wants to go into Nuclear power, IEAE first gives them license to operate a Nuclear Reactor.

It's the first stage.

I see. I am on an MSc in Nuclear Engineering (Nuclear Energy production and industrial application) in France. Now, France get 75% of their electricity from Nuclear energy.

Nuclear fuel has never been a problem. A nuclear power plant works with Low Enriched Uranium(LEU).

You just need few to run for many years.

You should be concerned about nuclear waste not nuclear energy

Or better still you can apply now by putting your degree certificate in place of the transcript as well. Ptdf might not really put an eye at this stage about the transcript.since your degree certificate is uploaded, then there will be consideration. Transcript is mostly required in the interview stage

Transcript is needed at this stage. Interview is just confirmation of the documents you uploaded. So during interview, you are required to come with all uploaded documents for sighting.

No, you can only select 3 schools (except if they have changed the application process), however, beyond the application on PTDF portal, apply to as many schools as you can.

I got the award to study Physics and Applications in UPMC but that is not where I am currently studying or the course either because they have cancelled their partnership with UPMC and the school removed from PTDF portal. I had to move to Engineering side where I currently study Nuclear Engineering in IMT Atlantique, a Grande Ecole School in France where PTDF pays 24k euros for each of us (we are two).

Because of the expensive cost of Nuclear Engineering and their no negotiation stance on cutting the cost(I suppose), PTDF have removed Nuclear Engineering from their list of sponsored subjects to others with lower cost anyway. Aside IMT Atlantique, other France schools on that list are tuition free(public school).

Guys don't apply to one school. Apply to as many schools as possible. Especially those coming to France.

Even if you have lecturers grade or the one greater than 1st class, apply to many schools. French schools will bounce you. You will get many rejections, I mean many.

So keep spending applications, if possible to about 10 schools. Lol.

If you get France, then PTDF partnership will also help you

amOk, it is obvious. FYI, PTDF has never processed an admission for anybody, even if they write on their advert that they will process admission for applicants, it is a scam. At the end you'll be asked to bring your admission. Ask the current and past scholars.

PTDF process admission mostly for French scholars.

PTDF contact in Grenoble filled the application form on behalf of scholars in chemistry department.

In schools where they have strong partnership, admission is straightforward while for others especially for Germany, you are on your own

You'll get full score for class of degree rating (which is First Class). For O'level rating, they usually pick your best five subjects I think, and then grade it into something similar to

A1 - 6
B2 - 5
B3 - 4
C4 - 3
C5 - 2
C6 - 1

P.S: Assuming total score for O'level is 30 marks.

Not best five. PTDF have Olevel subjects they work with.

Before being shortlisted for interview, you are competing at National Level. Immediately you are shortlisted for interview, at that point, you are competing with those from your state.


I must say that WAEC result is very important at this stage. A good Waec result will supplement 'medium' Gp score

Apply for transcript, send it to any office or shop you know. Once it gets to them, collect it, make numerous photocopy and scanning because you will be using it alot.

It costs 25k in UNN. I applied, sent it to my Uncle's company and that is how the official one is with me.

Depends on the kind of journal. However, you might want to work with your project supervisor in getting your book published. Discuss it with him/her. If it's of quality, he/she will show you the way.

You can also visit the Ph.D thread on nairaland/education section and learn how to publish individual paper if possible.
