Across the road exists one of the river's of Nantes. Standing on top of the bridge, one could see their Naval Warship painted in 'Silver/ash colour'.
|
I visited the Parcs Des D'ile. A park that houses the famous mechanical elephant of Nantes. It's very close to Mediatheque and you can get to this place by following Tram Line one. Stop at Naval Chartier, cross the road and there it is.

IronGalaxy:You will be fine yoy hear? |
This thread has come under attack by people who don't want to hear anything positive about Nigeria. I will need to report their comments or call the attention of justwise. I checked their profiles and they are SAs. Attached is one of the greatest creativity of Nantes. It's an elephant, designed with woods and irons. It's the perfection of engineering and furnished with creativity. This elephant can move but driven by human. Today, I will be visiting this museum. The attached picture is internet pics. I will be coming back this evening with loads of pictures.

FCBboy:You need to ignore them. Actually, US citizens do not know anything about other countries. To them, the world ends in US. Ask them which country is Nigeria, they will tell you it's a continent. lol. But citizens of other country know everything about US. Same thing is applicable to Nigeria. All Africans know about Nigeria but we do not know anything about other African country. You can see SAs on this thread, it is because Nairaland is the biggest forum in Africa, and most organized. We are innovative. If I ask you who the president of Senegal is, you will need to google it. Same with President of SA. But ask SAs or Senegalese who our President is and you will hear his name without guessing. When I realized this hear, I am always bold to say I am from Nigeria. When I enter the kitchen and meet other Africans, you will see them playing Nigerians musics. So ignore them bro. |
amikable97:Thanks bro. It's very unfortunate. Especially those who took a science course in Nigeria. I was discussing with one of my classmate who is currently doing his M.Sc in UNN. I think they have lectures ones a week. And he even told me that in one of their courses, the lecturer is in sabbatical leave and they will have to wait until he is back. He also told me how some people were given admission for one area of specialization only for them to be told to change their area of specialization as UNN do not have lecturers for such field. I asked myself why they advertised in the first place knowing they do not have lecturers. Undergraduate studies is even better in Nigeria than post graduate studies. Especially in UNN. |
kolladey:Thank you so much bro |

River Edger shares same neighbourhood with the commerce centre

You can enjoy the beautiful view of Nantes when you decide to take a boat ride.
|
This little gate leads you inside one of the boats.
|
You can also go for a walk with your dog in a walk way beside this river.
|
Inside this river are lots of boats. There's no limit to what you can do inside this river. You can have a lunch or cup of tea in a boat while in a ride in this river.
|
This is river is divided into two by a bridge. I don't know the name. This bridge connects the Bus line to the Tram line. From the bus stop Bonde, you walk less than a minute to the Tram stop St. Mihiel.
|
Yesterday, I took a visit to this river. It is called River Edger. I wasn't able to capture the design of the name. It's a common river for most people in Nantes. Lovers, and families usually come here for boat cruise.

Seems like this thread has been invaded by South Africans. You guys should know there will never be a Xenophobic attack on this thread. |
Newguyhere:Bros, abeg allow the babe rest. She's still young and inexperienced. Let her take her decision and live with the outcome. |
Here are few things I learned and would like to share. They are general stuffs and are not arranged in any other of importance. 1. We are known to have women that only stay with men with money: I have met a lot of Africans here, in the gym, walkways, cafeteria etc. When I ask them what they know about Nigeria, one common thing I often here is "your women like money". Lol. I usually tell them that they do, ofcourse, no one hates money. 2. Nigeria is the US of Africa: Indeed we are Giants of Africa. We might not be technologically developed compared to Northern African countries or South Africa but trust me, they know us more than we know them. They know our president, musics, football, etc. I hear Nigerian music played by many African students, including those that who don't speak English. 3. Our Education system is the poorest. Most of my lecturers in UNN studied abroad but it doesn't show in what they teach and their attitude towards teaching. They miss classes, teach only the introductory part, skip the hard topics and wave us goodbye. We are coming from back of the world in terms of education. Many more, I will back it up with pictures tomorrow. |
As we prepare for another picture moment tomorrow, let me give you highlights of the few little events that I have learned here. Before then, let me welcome you to the table tonight. In Nigeria, I take 1759 and Heineken, but here, I haven't seen 1759, so Heineken is my only choice. So let's drink

Suspectzero:Thanks bro. I will try my best and pray it's enough. |
Okay guys, I am sorry I haven't updated this thread for a while. The whole of next week is Halloween break and so I am bit free to move around. The past two weeks has been so tough, many things I need to read up. I hardly leave my room. I cancelled every plan. I would have traveled to Germany during this break but because we have exam November 5th and the class was very advanced that I only understood one topic until the man finished , I won't be going anywhere. I will stay and repeatedly read the entire course until I am ready for the exam and that is what I will be doing this coming week. Surely, I will start going out tomorrow and so, I will get some pictures to spice up this thread again. |
olatunyemi:I hope you know the above emboldened statement is a statement of pride? Why do Nigerians derive joy in the negativity. It is common to see students say "Only 1 person got an A in that course, half of the class failed it" . And they say it to brag on how their university is difficult. Common, your lecturers weakness or stupidity shouldn't be a thing of pride. |
pocohantas:It's obvious the lecturer was right. My sincere appreciation to the lecturer for denying him a first class. Ehen Poco, I haven't asked you about your prediction in the last election. We all know you never believed the obvious outcome we all saw and preached. I am mentioning it because the guy called all APC supporters illiterate and I know you share same conclusion. ![]() |
Nezy4Real:I think they do. I have someone studying Pharmaceutical Engineering. I don't know whether it is in public health or not but I know a friend in that department. My school has three campuses and I don't know the departments in the other campuses. For my campus, it's just engineering courses and subatomic physics. We have three departments here, MOST, BPP and Nuclear Engineering. My course is under subatomic physics department |
Since they are not responsible for my previous education and I am not responsible for it too UNN are, I can't kill myself. Make I chop before I faint. My eyes has been paining me after over 10 hours of reading and canceling

Guys make una no vex. See wetin our lecturer dropped for us oo. Just one course. I just realized I wasted time thinking I had a B. Sc in Nigeria. What I had was equivalent to a nursery school certificate. It's been tough oo trying to catch up with the gap. Gap from the 3 years I stayed away from books (working) and the low level of education I had when compared to foreign standard. I have read from 5:30am till 6pm, sitting in one chair just to read and do few assignments. It's been difficult.

Dyill is my friend and he told me how DAAD has not been kind with the list. It's well bro

izzou:Welcome bro. I asked my French teacher how religious they are here and he told me they are less religious. However, majority are catholics by parental background. They don't practice it. There's a cemetery on the road to the school. The cemetery has a CCTV camera and well built that you may mistake it for a tourist centre. With the way they build it, you will understand why they will have a grave in the church. Referring to paragraph one, when you go to the church on weekdays, it's a more like a tourist centre. I was there by 12pm and they wasn't any bell for Angelus. They don't take the issue of a ghost or religion too seriously. |
sammirano:Thanks and welcome bro |
olalekan9320:You have all it takes to get to any level bro. Just be dedicated and focused. |
olalekan9320:That's great. French is difficult because it has so many words with same sound and other things. If you start now and become dedicated, by September next you, you should have crossed the A+ stage. I will recommend you visit institute de Francaise or other french learning institution |
