The question of your identity is a common one for anybody living in a foreign country. Whether you come from Venezuela, or Nigeria, you will often be asked which country you are from. So you had better be ready for that question and many more. I mean the good things about your country and the rest.

So yesterday, the 59th independence, during our lunch break, I thought of what to show about our country and nothing else came to my mind than our music. I played Ogene music and traditional dances from Youtube. I was shocked how all of them gathered around my laptop including the French teacher. They all loved it and asked what more can a tourist in Nigeria enjoy. I told them the food, music, culture, and the people.

I however warned them that in Nigeria, except you are a Zebra, do not stand on the zebra crossing expecting anyone to stop for you.

Few stories.

One of the tasks given to us to do at the market today was to meet three french people, ask them few questions such as: What did you buy today, what is your most preferred Nantes dish, and one other question that just ran out of my weak brain. We were to use French for this task.

So I met one young lady. As the discussion went on, she asked where I am from, I said 9ja. She shouted. I was like, hope there's no problem. I asked her if she has been to 9ja, she said no. Oya, why did you shout then? I like Nigerian musics, she said. My mind just came down. Because I was expecting to hear Yahoo, etc

Turned out she knows Davido. So I recommended other few musics she can try. Flavour and Wizkid. She searched for them and bookmarked them.

The church's surrounding

This is another Catholic church very close to the cathedral.

Catholicism is the famous religion in France.

Inside La cigale

La cigale is an expensive restaurant. It's not for anybody except you are sure of your pocket. A light snack (burger and tea) here is about 56 euros depending on your choice on the items on the menu.

But the interior is very beautiful. Designed for the elites that it's meant for

On top of a building in La place Graslin is about 8 statues.

Nantes does with statues the same thing China does with technology.

You hardly go to any place without seeing some statues.

As we rounded up our trip today, we went to La place Graslin. In it, there's a restaurant called La Cigale. Dans la cigale est beau. ( You must also learn french too)

Place Royale has it's own show of arts.

A water fountain with some monuments (no verse if I no get the name) that contains the four rivers of Nantes.

If you are here, you must be tempted to take pictures. So don't blame me.

Any building with no designs is surely not in Nantes.

I learned that Nantes city recently won the award of Europe's most creative city.

The commercial arena has 3 floors filled with different shops of diverse products.

Every minute, troops of people come into the passage either to make a purchase or to take pictures.

Welcome to Passage Pommeraye.

Passage Pommeraye is a passage turned a commercial centre, furnished with the city's known skill: Arts.

It's a beautiful passage and also very busy.

Quick question, so how is that Cathedral being maintained? Like money wise?

I don't want to believe that its being maintained by people just attending the services there and paying their tithes and offerings...cause I want to believe that the current generation of French people are not that religious as their past ancestors.

Yeah, they are not that religious, however, they are passionate about the preservation of their cultural heritage.

Inside the church, there are candles and you can light anyone up with anything you wish. No one will force or ask you to light any candle up. I think it's a way of generating some revenue. Secondly, the country is rich and government or local council can fund the maintenance of the church.
