Apologies, I lump the property and mrtgage companies together.

UAC is a part owner of 1004 and they've tied down money for a long time with LASG governemnt not allowing them to do anything!! So they are not getting anything from that Investment. they also bought Festac hotel. Issue is property investment takes a long time. Check the track record of UAC-P and you will understand. No bonus since they got listed. Only platry 35k dividend every year. capital appreciation is also not out of this world compared with other stocks.

Maybe you forgot Wanajo, UACP gave bonus of 1 for 10 in 2005, and have been consistent with paying dividend though paltry as you said.  Why you no go forget say them give bonus, with over 40 in your list, not easy to keep tract record grin grin grin   We are coming behind cheesy

Wonderful plan. I sent out an order today to sell off all the "penny" stocks with wacky fundamentals. Fear don dey catch me. I don't want to be caught when things go sour. Now these stocks are still hot cake and there is no shortage of buyers. They have served me well already.

If you are looking for safety which is safer than UBA?  grin I won't go there sha. Not now anyway.

Dangote Sugar, Flour Mills, Beta Glass and Ikeja Hotels catch my fancy at the moment due to strong fundamentals.

I suspect that there is already an insider scoup on AG Leventis regarding the full year results. Of course OandO is a good candidate if you have a superman or superwoman broker.

The way I see it, we will soon run out of "penny" stocks on the exchange since most are doing 5% daily and will soon cross the N10 mark. By the time that bubble bursts folks will be looking for fairly priced stocks. I guess many bank stocks will also benefit from this.

In insurance, I believe Aiico will present a very good opportunity if the bleeding can be sustained. A lot of resistance though.

Does anyone know if International Energy Insurance has plans for a PO?

CAVEAT EMPTY PATAPATA.

Pumping777, more seriously, THE NAFDAC threat to Beta Glass biz, what do you have to say.  I thought I overheard NAFDAC saying they will be doing away with bottled drinks etc etc etc.  Don't have details, even WANAJO has mentioned it briefly in passing some time ago.  Hence I seem scared of BETA GLASS in the long term, otherwise, they have become nothing recently but VERY PROFITABLE.  118% PAT as per their 3rd quarter result for me is impressive.

as a firm, they are efficient in dealing with your buy n sell orders. you can think of them as a buy/sell machine and you need 10 million naira opening balance for them to look at you. i expect that shld not be a problem if you are deep pocketed.

i personally consider their services a bit impersonal but that's my opinion

Like Wanajo would say, there are brokers and there are brokers!

Of all my brokers, 3 have successfully succeeded in BREAKING ME ALMOST TO PIECES.  But I have my thumbs for MBC Securities; they are award winner any day any time.  SERVICE DELIVERY - EXCELLENT.

Account opening may be a little problem for low brower investors:  just N5m, thereafter you have good stories to tell.   This has been my personal experience though.

The three other yeyerest ones are:  Mainland Trust Ltd (Don't trust their services), City-code (better pass for village-code), Profund securities (they are BEST in making mistakes or forgetting your mandate, blah, blah).

Very soon, all those brokers that would not improve their services will have their names printed in bold here every week.  Many have sent unwary to see AKTOPGUN - don't think any young guy needs to rely on antidepressant these days for stock investment cheesy

@ hardmoney, this enquiry about some white men coming in seems a little out of place to me.
Why not tell them toslip into the country unnoticed and stay in Lagos to conduct their meetings as there are thousands of other whites there.
They coult slib in and out of Nier delta and do their business quietly.
Since they will hire security, no wahala go dey as additional cover dey.
Every country has its own issues so lets not see the naija delta issue as a major deterrent to business.
Search the web for Nigerian tourism and business websites and ask of security.
Others wey dey sneak into this country since are still alive , so no fears.

You spoke my mind.   Let them do SIRO - Sneak In Rush Out grin grin grin grin grin  Many expatriates in Niger Delta have been doing that.  Some even now do DIDO - Dash In Dash Out, or if that one no safe reach, do Jump In Sneak Out - JISO.  AKT, check your Candle now for this while people movement grin grin grin grin grin

I personally think lasaco is a fundamentally strong company because of the opportunities they have with regard to both the local content policy and mandatory health insurance for govt. workers. If you're buying for the long term, I will consider the current price too high (projected PE by my calcs is about 38, based on my assumption that they are able to grow FYE profit by 20% from their Q3 profit). With these insurance companies, I'm not sure how they'll perform at the end of the year, but my suspicision is that Lasaco will do better than I expect. Year-end result is likely to be out from as early as May to as late as August. So, to answer your question: Yes, I think lasaco is fundamentally strong, but am not sure right now is a good time to enter. It's currently on the down trend, so wait and see what happens.

Yes, this is the Windy Wendy that we all know.  After all this grammar on the stock, even if the thing no work, one is happy.  Thanks for throwing nepa light on LASACO, it went to confirm my thinkings about the stock.  You are invaluable to this forum.  When I used that grammar "invaluable" for one man the other, the man thought I meant that he had no value, na God deliver me from en hand grin grin  I know madam Wendy knows what I mean.

@AKTopGun
what i see in front of me using a three-month time frame is somewhat disturbing, particularly the last two candles on my chart
there is a spinning top(reversal) being followed by a spinning bottom(another reversal) haba!!! shocked shocked shocked
however, if i am to use the last four candles to make a decision, it simply means the correction phase from 14 naira is about to draw to a close,
BUT there are some fundamental bit of information distorting the free flowing market movement, making a clearcut entry point very hard to point out at this moment for short termers.
But for medium-long termers now is always an entry point, however for CICOers, there should be some caution and restraint like i said earlier.
since the market is generally bullish, i would advice the short termers to wait for the momentum indicator to level out before they enter, it is still in a bearish mood now sha.
and from the volume i see a lot of people sold on the last day of trade (friday) so there should be some to buy on monday (hopefully o!!!!!)

Yes. Rumored at N6/share. So, in my view, any price significantly above the N6 trading range is danger TS territory. Unless you don't mind being caught in TS that is.

Windy, thanks for the response.  But I was thinking you would add some ingredients, like telling us about Deap Capital, what they are into blah, blah its future.  Just in case you know sha.  You know you, Wanajo, Pumping777 have a way of using good technical oyibo to tell us about company "bottomline", "upside" and "topline" etc etc.  Actually, what do you know about this ambitious company.  Please don't feel I am taking you for granted, you have been quite generous to us all.  thanks

@AKtopcandlegun  tongue and Mr. Risky, where una dey when I was recommending Livestock bout 2wks ago? It was about 5.6 then (at least that's the price at which I bought). That one, berger paints and dunlop should have made those who bought some dough by now (although I didn't buy Berger, and I've long sold dunlop). Guinea ins refused to perform as expected, so I dumped and netted only 5% post commission  angry cool.

See my post below:

Windy Wendy, the Iron lady, you see I must have been dosing when I read that your post.  Since the turn around seems to be moving on a good path, for me I can still jump in for a 9month to 0ne year reward.  I am a correct medium to long termer.  I personally booked Livestock down last week here, but the drive to get even 100 units of NIWICABLE did not allow me see road, and up till now I am still unsuccessful.  I will settle for Live stock afterall its people that are still buying.

It's a hard call. You have to let go of your greed at some point. The spreadsheet profit can disappear fast fast if you are in short term.

I've stopped looking at the spread sheet profit or na quick quick I go call my broker. I figure I must hold on to a couple of insurance stocks medium term at least and the safest one is Aiico for now so no selling. If the price crosses N8, I may reconsider sha.

Funny thing, it still has a lower forward PE ratio than most insurance stocks IF if they can deliver on the projected PAT in the prospectus for FY 2008 but that is still a long way off. That is a big IF because the Q-1 result was no good. N42M after Tax!!!

Any attempt to move down in price, I go wait collect some more.  Another good thing is that Aiico owes us Q-2, Q-3 and FY results so some stimulation is still possible.

My brother, thanks a lot, I share the same sentiments for AIICO too, but I just jumped in this past Monday at N6.07 and wanted to bail out at N7.50, I was only wondering if some longer-throat no go sell tomorrow to drop the price grin grin. See me see analysis grin grin grin grin
